Abstract
Description
[0001] LEW Distribution Network GmbH - 1 - 30A-168 986
[0002] Saw blade and method for cutting a pipe
[0003] TECHNICAL AREA
[0004] The present disclosure relates to a saw blade and a method for cutting a pipe in which a line runs. Furthermore, a method for manufacturing a saw blade is disclosed.
[0005] BACKGROUND
[0006] Pipes, such as cable protection conduits made of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), containing cables like power or data lines, sometimes need to be opened to access or inspect the cables. A common method for this is to cut an opening in the pipe with a saw. However, there is a risk that the saw will cut too deeply into the pipe and damage the cables inside. If the cables are medium-voltage or low-voltage, for example, the saw can damage the cable, causing an arc flash or short circuit and resulting in serious or fatal injuries.
[0007] Furthermore, it is known to heat a pipe in a cable trench with a propane gas burner and cut an opening in the pipe with an insulated cable knife. However, this carries the risk of a deflagration of gases in the cable trench and the risk of damaging the power cable with the cable knife.
[0008] Furthermore, there are circular saws to which a stop can be attached. However, attaching the stop to the circular saw is time-consuming. Moreover, such separately installable stops are not suitable for cutting pipes.
[0009] SUMMARY OF THE REVELATION
[0010] The present disclosure is based on the objective of providing a saw blade and a method for cutting a pipe containing a line, with the aid of which an opening can be safely cut into the pipe without damaging the line. A further objective of the present disclosure is to provide a method for manufacturing such a saw blade. LEW Verteilnetz GmbH - 2 - 30A-168 986
[0011] To solve this problem, a saw blade for cutting a pipe in which a cable runs is proposed, wherein a depth stop element is attached to one side of the saw blade.
[0012] The saw blade can be any type of saw blade designed for cutting a pipe. In particular, it can be a saw blade for a multi-tool.
[0013] Depending on the intended use, saw blades can be made from various materials, as follows: High-carbon steel (HCS) is tough and flexible, making it ideal for soft materials like plastic. Bimetal (BIM) combines HCS and high-speed steel (HSS), offering both flexibility and hardness, and is therefore suitable for harder materials like metal. HSS is very hard and heat-resistant, making it optimal for cutting metals and hard plastics. For abrasive materials, saw blades with carbide or tungsten carbide (TC) coatings can be used. Diamond-coated saw blades can be used for particularly hard or abrasive materials.
[0014] The shape of the saw blade can vary depending on the pipe material. Plunge saw blades have a rectangular or rounded shape with a flat tip and are suitable for precise plunge cuts in various materials. Segment saw blades are semicircular with one open side, allowing for flush cutting on edges or in corners. Circular saw blades are circular and are suitable for long, continuous cuts.
[0015] Saw blade teeth can be fine or coarse. Fine teeth allow for precise and clean cuts in thin materials, while coarse teeth are suitable for fast cuts in thicker or softer materials.
[0016] The pipe can be any type of conduit that can house a cable or line. For example, the pipe could be made of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U). The pipe can be buried or exposed. The cable or line can be any type of cable that carries electricity and / or data, such as medium-voltage cables, low-voltage cables, or fiber optic cables.
[0017] To ensure the saw blade cuts only the pipe and does not damage the conduit, the depth stop element can be plate-shaped and include a stop surface designed to rest against the outside of the pipe. This allows the stop surface to guide the saw blade as it cuts the pipe. LEW Verteilnetz GmbH - 3 - 30A-168 986
[0018] For precise guidance of the saw blade when cutting the pipe, the stop surface can run perpendicular to the direction of extension of the saw blade.
[0019] To ensure that only the pipe is cut, the distance between the stop surface on the saw blade and a tooth of the saw blade can be 4 to 6 mm. Thicker pipe walls may require larger distances.
[0020] For precise guidance of the saw blade when cutting the pipe, the distance between the stop surface on the saw blade and the teeth of the saw blade can be the same across the entire stop surface.
[0021] Furthermore, for precise guidance of the saw blade when cutting the pipe, the stop surface can be at least 4 mm wide.
[0022] Preferably, the saw blade and the depth stop element have essentially the same cross-sectional shape. This simplifies the attachment of the depth stop element to the saw blade during the manufacturing of the saw blade.
[0023] The saw blade and / or the depth stop element must not have a circular cross-section. For example, a segmented saw blade can be used.
[0024] Preferably, the attachment of the depth stop element to the saw blade includes riveting and / or gluing.
[0025] The saw blade and the depth stop element can also include a number of holes through which the depth stop element is attached to the saw blade with rivets. The arrangement of the holes in the saw blade corresponds to the arrangement of the holes in the depth stop element, thus enabling simple and precise attachment of the depth stop element to the saw blade.
[0026] The saw blade may include a mounting section on the side where the depth stop is attached, for securing the saw blade to a multi-tool. The mounting section may extend through an opening in the depth stop. Furthermore, holes may surround the mounting section and the opening. This allows for easy and precise attachment of the depth stop to the saw blade. LEW Verteilnetz GmbH - 4 - 30A-168 986
[0027] A multitool is a handy tool that combines several functions and tools into a single compact device. Various saw blades can be attached to the multitool. In particular, a multitool may have an oscillating function. This is an electric or battery-powered tool designed to cut, grind, or scrape various materials using rapid, small back-and-forth movements. This movement is called oscillation. Unlike conventional saws, the blade does not rotate but moves at high speed with a very small amplitude (usually 1-3 degrees), enabling precise and controlled cuts.
[0028] For better handling of the saw blade at a low weight, the depth stop element can be made of aluminum.
[0029] The saw blade can also be set up to oscillate. In particular, a multitool can set the saw blade into an oscillating motion so that the saw blade can cut the pipe.
[0030] The problem initially posed is also solved by a method for cutting a pipe in which a line runs, the method comprising the following steps: mounting one of the saw blades described above on a multi-tool, setting the saw blade into an oscillating motion by the multi-tool and cutting the pipe with the saw blade, the depth stop element being in contact with the outer surface of the pipe during cutting.
[0031] Furthermore, a method for manufacturing a saw blade is disclosed, which includes the step of attaching a depth stop element to a side face of the saw blade. In particular, the saw blade and the depth stop element can include holes through which rivets are inserted to fasten the depth stop element to the saw blade. The saw blade includes a mounting section for attaching the saw blade to a multi-tool. In this case, the depth stop element is located on one side of the saw blade, and the mounting section is located on the other side. The rivets are then inserted through the holes from the side of the depth stop element and riveted in place.
[0032] The aspects and variants described above can be combined without this being explicitly stated. Each of the described design variants is therefore optional to any other design variant or combination thereof. This disclosure is thus not limited to the individual designs and variants described in the sequence presented in LEW Verteilnetz GmbH - 5 - 30A-168 986 or to any specific combination of aspects and design variants.

[0039] DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0040] Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of a saw blade 2 in a side view, a right view, and a bottom view. The dimensions of the saw blade 2 shown in Fig. 1 are exemplary and given in mm, but these are not limiting for the present invention.
[0041] The saw blade 2 comprises a mounting section 6, teeth 5, and three holes A. The saw blade 2 is disc-shaped with one rounded edge and one straight edge. The teeth 5 are located only on the rounded edge. The mounting section 6 is centrally located on one side of the saw blade 2. The mounting section 6 is circular with multiple openings and serves for the detachable fastening of the LEW Verteilnetz GmbH - 6 - 30A-168 986
[0042] Mounting section 6 on a multi-tool. The arrangement of the mounting section 6 on the saw blade 2 follows the shape of the saw blade 2. Between the mounting section 6 and the teeth 5, the three holes A are arranged in the saw blade 2 such that they surround the mounting section 6.
[0043] Fig. 2 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of a depth stop element 1 in a side view, a right view, and a bottom view. Fig. 1 shows exemplary dimensions of the depth stop element 1 in mm, which, however, are not limiting for the present invention.
[0044] The depth stop element 1 is made of aluminum. The depth stop element 1 is plate-shaped and comprises a rounded section and a straight section on its outer edge. The rounded section is a stop surface 9. The stop surface 9 runs perpendicular to the direction of extension of the depth stop element 1 and has a width of 5 mm. The stop surface 9 is designed to rest against the outside of a tube.
[0045] Furthermore, the depth stop element 1 includes an inner opening 7, the shape of which corresponds to the shape of the mounting section 6 of the saw blade 2, so that the depth stop element 1 can be placed onto the mounting section 6. The depth stop element 1 has three holes A, which correspond to the three holes of the saw blade 2.
[0046] Fig. 3 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of the saw blade 2 of Fig. 1 when the depth stop element 1 of Fig. 2 is attached to the saw blade 2, in a side view and in a view from below.
[0047] As can be seen in Fig. 3, the depth stop element 1 was placed laterally onto the mounting section 6 of the saw blade 2 such that the three holes A of the saw blade 2 overlapped with the three holes A of the depth stop element 1. The depth stop element 1 was then riveted to the saw blade 2 using three rivets 3. The riveting was carried out from the side of the depth stop element 1 through the three holes A.
[0048] The stop surface 9 of the depth stop element 1 runs perpendicular to the direction of travel of the saw blade 2. The distance b between the stop surface 9 on the saw blade 2 and the teeth 5 of the saw blade 2 is 4 to 6 mm. The distance b is the same across the entire stop surface 9. Furthermore, the saw blade 2 and the depth stop element 1 have the same cross-sectional shape. LEW Verteilnetz GmbH 30A-168 986
[0049] Fig. 4 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of a saw blade 2, to which a depth stop element 1 is attached, cutting a pipe 7 with a cable 8 running inside it. The pipe 7 is a cable protection pipe made of PVC-U and the cable is a medium-voltage cable.
[0050] To cut a viewing window into the tube 7, the saw blade 2 with the attached depth stop element 1 is mounted on a multitool (not shown in Fig. 4). The multitool is then switched on, causing the saw blade 2 to oscillate. The saw blade 2 is then used to cut into the tube 7, ensuring that the stop surface 9 rests against the outside of the tube 7. By guiding the stop surface 9 against the outside of the tube 7, the tube 7 can be further cut. A viewing window can be cut into the tube 7 using four cuts.
[0051] Since the teeth 5 of the saw blade 2 cannot penetrate further into the interior of the pipe 7 after contacting the stop surface 9 on the outside of the pipe 7, it is ensured that the teeth 5 do not damage the pipe 8.
[0052] The following dimensions can be used, for example, for different diameters of pipe 7:
[0053] 1. Diameter of pipe 7: 63 mm
[0054] Dimension a: 79.7 mm
[0055] Dimension b: 2.7 mm
[0056] 2. Diameter of pipe 7: 75 mm
[0057] Dimension a: 78.7 mm
[0058] Dimension b: 3.2 mm
[0059] 3. Diameter of pipe 7: 110 mm
[0060] Dimension a: 79.3 mm
[0061] Dimension b: 2.9 mm
[0062] 4. Diameter of pipe 7: 126 mm
[0063] Dimension a: 79.7 mm
[0064] Dimension b: 2.7 mm LEW Distribution Network GmbH - 8 - 30A-168 986
[0065] 5. Diameter of pipe 7: 160 mm
[0066] Dimension a: 76.3 mm
[0067] Dimension b: 4.4 mm
[0068] In the examples presented, different features and functions of the present disclosure have been described separately as well as in specific combinations. It is understood, however, that many of these features and functions can be freely combined with one another, unless explicitly excluded.
