[0033] As would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, system 200 may further include any number of modules other than the modules shown in Figure 2. Those skilled in the art will understand that the various illustrative blocks, modules, circuits, and processing logic described in connection with the embodiments disclosed herein may be implemented in hardware, computer-readable software, firmware, or any practical combination thereof. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability and compatibility of hardware, firmware, and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps are described generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware, or software can depend upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Those familiar with the concepts described herein may implement such functionality in a suitable manner for each particular application, but such implementation decisions should not be interpreted as limiting the scope of the present disclosure In accordance with some embodiments, the UE transceiver 230 may be referred to herein as an “uplink” transceiver 230 that includes a radio frequency (RF) transmitter and a RF receiver each comprising circuitry that is coupled to the antenna 232. A duplex switch (not shown) may alternatively couple the uplink transmitter or receiver to the uplink antenna in time duplex fashion. Similarly, in accordance with some embodiments, the BS transceiver 210 may be referred to herein as a “downlink” transceiver 210 that includes a RF transmitter and a RF receiver each comprising circuity that is coupled to the antenna 212. A downlink duplex switch may alternatively couple the downlink transmitter or receiver to the downlink antenna 212 in time duplex fashion. The operations of the two transceiver modules 210 and 230 may be coordinated in time such that the uplink receiver circuitry is coupled to the uplink antenna 232 for reception of transmissions over the wireless transmission link 250 at the same time that the downlink transmitter is coupled to the downlink antenna 212. Conversely, the operations of the two transceivers 210 and 230 may be coordinated in time such that the downlink receiver is coupled to the downlink antenna 212 for reception of transmissions over the wireless transmission link 250 at the same time that the uplink transmitter is coupled to the uplink antenna 232. In some embodiments, there is close time synchronization with a minimal guard time between changes in duplex direction.

[0034] The UE transceiver 230 and the base station transceiver 210 are configured to communicate via the wireless data communication link 250, and cooperate with a suitably configured RF antenna arrangement 212 / 232 that can support a particular wireless communication protocol and modulation scheme. In some illustrative embodiments, the UE transceiver 210 and the base station transceiver 210 are configured to support industry standards such as the Long Term Evolution (LTE) and emerging 5G standards, and the like. It is understood, however, that the present disclosure is not necessarily limited in application to a particular standard and associated protocols. Rather, the UE transceiver 230 and the base station transceiver 210 may be configured to support alternate, or additional, wireless data communication protocols, including future standards or variations thereof.

[0035] In accordance with various embodiments, the BS 202 may be an evolved node B (eNB) , a serving eNB, a target eNB, a femto station, or a pico station, for example. In some embodiments, the UE 204 may be embodied in various types of user devices such as a mobile phone, a smart phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , tablet, laptop computer, wearable computing device, etc. The processor modules 214 and 236 may be implemented, or realized, with a general purpose processor, a content addressable memory, a digital signal processor, an application specific integrated circuit, a field programmable gate array, any suitable programmable logic device, discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof, designed to perform the functions described herein. In this manner, a processor may be realized as a microprocessor, a controller, a microcontroller, a state machine, or the like. A processor may also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a digital signal processor and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a digital signal processor core, or any other such configuration.

[0036] Furthermore, the steps of a method or algorithm described in connection with the embodiments disclosed herein may be embodied directly in hardware, in firmware, in a software module executed by processor modules 214 and 236, respectively, or in any practical combination thereof. The memory modules 216 and 234 may be realized as RAM memory, flash memory, ROM memory, EPROM memory, EEPROM memory, registers, a hard disk, a removable disk, a CD-ROM, or any other form of storage medium known in the art. In this regard, memory modules 216 and 234 may be coupled to the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively, such that the processors modules 210 and 230 can read information from, and write information to, memory modules 216 and 234, respectively. The memory modules 216 and 234 may also be integrated into their respective processor modules 210 and 230. In some embodiments, the memory modules 216 and 234 may each include a cache memory for storing temporary variables or other intermediate information during execution of instructions to be executed by processor modules 210 and 230, respectively. Memory modules 216 and 234 may also each include non-volatile memory for storing instructions to be executed by the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively.

[0037] The network communication module 218 generally represents the hardware, software, firmware, processing logic, and / or other components of the base station 202 that enable bi-directional communication between base station transceiver 210 and other network components and communication nodes configured to communication with the base station 202. For example, network communication module 218 may be configured to support internet or WiMAX traffic. In a typical deployment, without limitation, network communication module 218 provides an 802.3 Ethernet interface such that base station transceiver 210 can communicate with a conventional Ethernet based computer network. In this manner, the network communication module 218 may include a physical interface for connection to the computer network (e.g., Mobile Switching Center (MSC) ) . The terms “configured for, ” “configured to” and conjugations thereof, as used herein with respect to a specified operation or function, refer to a device, component, circuit, structure, machine, signal, etc., that is physically constructed, programmed, formatted and / or arranged to perform the specified operation or function.

[0038] The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model (referred to herein as, “open system interconnection model” ) is a conceptual and logical layout that defines network communication used by systems (e.g., wireless communication device, wireless communication node) open to interconnection and communication with other systems. The model is broken into seven subcomponents, or layers, each of which represents a conceptual collection of services provided to the layers above and below it. The OSI Model also defines a logical network and effectively describes computer packet transfer by using different layer protocols. The OSI Model may also be referred to as the seven-layer OSI Model or the seven-layer model. In some embodiments, a first layer may be a physical layer. In some embodiments, a second layer may be a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. In some embodiments, a third layer may be a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer. In some embodiments, a fourth layer may be a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer. In some embodiments, a fifth layer may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer. In some embodiments, a sixth layer may be a Non Access Stratum (NAS) layer or an Internet Protocol (IP) layer, and the seventh layer being the other layer.

[0039] 2. Systems and Methods for Adaptively Configuring Random Access Channels (RACHs)

[0040] In 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) , a wireless communication device (UE) may be assumed to obtain a location of the UE based on a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) . The UE can also pre-compensate the large timing advance (TA) and Doppler to achieve uplink (UL) synchronization based on the GNSS location and assistance information (e.g., satellite ephemeris) from a network. However, a GNSS positioning system may be independent of a communication system and may not always be simultaneously available with the communication system (e.g., cellular communication system) . Positioning accuracy of a positioning solution based on 3GPP communication satellites may be different from a positioning accuracy of GNSS (e.g., only coarse location can be obtained in response to the number of NTN satellites being small) . Hence, multiple physical random access channel (PRACH) formats or random access channel (RACH) related parameters may be defined for different scenarios (e.g., for UEs with precise location, coarse location, and without location) for NTN. The detailed enhancements and selection mechanism for enhanced RACH are discussed in the present disclosure. The solutions described herein can be applied in a 6G system. The solutions described herein can be applied for either an NTN or terrestrial network (TN) .

[0041] FIG. 3 illustrates an example environment 300, according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. The non-terrestrial network (NTN) may be a structure of a transparent NTN. The link between at least one UE (e.g., UE 104, 204) and a satellite may be a service link. The link between a BS (e.g., BS 102, 202) and a satellite may be a feeder link and can be common (e.g., shared) for all UEs within the same cell.

[0042] In 5G NTN, pre-compensation can be applied to achieve UL synchronization. A UE can estimate and pre-compensate the timing advance (TA) corresponding to a service link based on the UE location (e.g., obtained through GNSS) , and satellite location (e.g., derived based on satellite ephemeris indicated by a network. For the common TA corresponding to a feeder link, the UE can estimate and pre-compensate the common TA based on common TA parameters (e.g., common TA, common TA drift rate, and common TA drift rate variation at epoch time, which indicated by network) . Moreover, the UE can also estimate and pre-compensate Doppler corresponding to a service link based on the UE location, UE velocity, satellite location, and satellite velocity. In summary, with the knowledge of UE location and velocity (derived based on GNSS information) and assistance information indicated by network (satellite ephemeris, common TA parameters, and epoch time) , the UE can estimate and pre-compensate the TA and Doppler. The residual TA and Doppler to be estimated by a network node (e.g., BS) can be significantly reduced and within tolerable range of PRACH formats defined for TN.

[0043] In 5G NR, the PRACH preamble can be generated based on a Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence. Long preamble formats and short preamble formats can be supported as shown below in Tables 1 and 2.

[0044] Table 1: PRACH preamble formats for LRA =839 and ΔfRA∈ {1.25, 5} kHz.

[0045] Table 2: Preamble formats for LRA∈ {139, 571, 1151} and ΔfRA=15·2μ kHz where μ ∈ {0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6} .

[0046] Moreover, more parameters may be configured for PRACH. The parameters may include a cyclic shift value (e.g., cyclic shift interval (Ncs) . The cyclic shift value may have a same ZC sequence with different cyclic shifts used as different PRACH preambles. The cyclic shift value may be used to indicate the (minimum) cyclic shift value for preamble generation or distinguishing preambles. The parameters may also include a root and different roots may be used to generate different ZC sequences. The standard may define root or root sequence.

[0047] The network may indicate root sequence index to UE, and the UE may determine the ZC sequence. The parameters may include a frequency resource. The network may indicate a frequency start to UE, and the UE can determine the frequency resource based on the frequency start and PRACH preamble format. Moreover, frequency-division multiplexed (FDMed) RACH occasions can be supported in NR. The network may indicate the FDM number to determine the number of frequency resources for frequency domain data generation (FDMed) PRACH. The parameters may also include a PRACH configuration index. A series of PRACH configurations for PRACH preamble and time resources in combination may be defined. The network can indicate the configuration via the index.

[0048] In the present disclosure, the enhancement of PRACH is considered. Networks (e.g., NTNs) can configure multiple PRACH parameters with different properties (e.g., different robustness to time, frequency error, or offset) . The UE may also adaptively select the parameter to be used.

[0049] Implementation 1: Adaptive PRACH Parameters

[0050] In 5G NTN, the UE (e.g., UE 104, 204) may be assumed to have the capability of a GNSS. Based on the GNSS information, the UE can estimate and pre-compensate large TA and Doppler in NTN and achieve UL synchronization. However, a GNSS positioning system may be independent to cellular communication systems. As such, the GNSS may not always be available when cellular communication system can be available, which leads to a lack of position information and the UE being unable to perform pre-compensation. In some embodiments, the GNSS information may not be accurate or reliable, which may lead to coarse position information and the accuracy of pre-compensated TA, delay, or Doppler being low.

[0051] Moreover, in the evolution of NTN, positioning based on NTN satellites (e.g., satellites for cellular communication) , may be introduced to replace GNSS positioning, which can improve the availability or reliability of pre-compensation. Considering that a number of available NTN satellites can be limited at an early stage of NTN deployment, the UE may only be able to obtain a coarse UE location in response to a geometry of anchor satellites not being suitable (e.g., when position dilution of precision (PDOP) can be high) . On the other hand, if the receiving power of the positioning signal can be low, the UE may also only be able to obtain coarse UE location due to measurement errors during positioning. Hence, even with NTN satellite based positioning, only coarse location may be obtained.

[0052] With the above considerations, enhancing (e.g., introducing, defining) multiple PRACH format or parameter sets to accommodate UEs with different positioning capabilities or accuracies may be beneficial to NTN networks. For example, for UEs with accurate location, the PRACH preamble used for TN can be used in NTN. For UEs with coarse location, the majority of TA, delay, or Doppler can be handled by pre-compensation, and the residual time and frequency error can be handled by PRACH preamble with minor enhancement (e.g., increase the subcarrier spacing (SCS) or Ncs of the preamble instead of changing the preamble sequence) .

[0053] For UEs without location information, a major enhancement of PRACH preamble may be considered (e.g., using two-root ZC sequence based PRACH format or PRACH preamble with other sequences to estimate large Doppler or delay) . Enhancing multiple PRACH format or parameter sets to accommodate UEs with different coverage performance may also be beneficial to NTN networks. For example, for very small aperture terminal (VSAT) UE and satellite with lower orbit, the coverage may be sufficient and single or few repetitions of PRACH sequence may be enough for access. For handheld UEs and satellites with high orbit, several repetitions of PRACH sequence may be used for a PRACH preamble to enhance the coverage.

[0054] Issue 1: Coexistence of Different PRACH Format or Parameter

[0055] For introducing multiple PRACH format or parameter sets, the coexistence of the different PRACH format or parameter set to be coexisted may be considered, especially regarding how to mitigate potential interference. At least one of followings can be considered:

[0056] The multiple PRACH format or parameter sets may use different FDMed resources. In legacy NR, a same PRACH format or parameter set may be applied for FDMed RACH resources. Hence, only a start frequency and FDM number may be indicated since the FDMed RACH resources have equal width. In response to multiple PRACH format or parameter sets using different FDMed resources, additional parameters may be indicated (e.g., multiple frequency start for each format or parameter set, offset between FDMed resources, width for the FDMed resources or each of the FDMed resource, association between PRACH format or parameter set with FDMed resource, or order of PRACH format or parameter set (when mapping to FDMed resource) , among others) . The PRACH configuration table or index may also be enhanced in response to the configuration being associated with an index includes a frequency domain resource configuration in addition to format configuration and time domain resource configuration.

[0057] The multiple PRACH format or parameter sets use different time-division multiplexed (TDMed) resources. For example, multiple PRACH configuration indexes can be configured. Each PRACH configuration index can correspond to a single PRACH format and time resource configuration. The multiple PRACH configuration index may correspond to overlapped or non-overlapped time domain resources. For example, in response to configuring multiple PRACH configuration indexes, the network (e.g., wireless communication node, BS 102, 202) may avoid configuring indexes that have overlapped time domain resources. The time domain configuration for the configured index may correspond to a different single frequency network (SFN) , subframe number, starting symbol, RACH slot number, (time domain) RACH occasion (RO) numbers within RACH slot, or RO duration to avoid the overlap.

[0058] As another example, in response to configuring multiple PRACH configuration indexes, the multiple configurations can be cyclically used. For example, in response to N configurations being indicated, the first configuration may be used for the first period, the second configuration may be used for the second period, …, and the Nth configuration may be used for the Nth period. The first configuration may be used for N+1th period, and so on. As another example, in response to configuring multiple PRACH configuration indexes, there may be no constraints on the configuration.

[0059] In response to different configurations having overlapped time domain resources, certain rules may be applied to handle the overlap. For example, the multiple PRACH configuration indexes have different priorities. The configuration with highest priority among the configurations overlapped at certain time resource may occupy the time resource. The time resource may be considered as invalid for configurations with a lower priority. As another example, the multiple PRACH configuration indexes may be FDMed on the overlapped time domain resource. For example, two configurations can be overlapped at a certain time resource, and FDM number can be N. Then, a first configuration may occupy N1 FDMed resources and second configuration may occupy N2 FDMed resources, where N1+N2=N.

[0060] As another example where the multiple PRACH format or parameter sets use different TDMed resources, a single PRACH configuration index may be configured. A single PRACH configuration index may include multiple PRACH format or parameter sets. The different PRACH format or parameter sets may correspond to different time domain resource configurations. The details for the single PRACH configuration index configuration may be similar to cases of multiple PRACH configuration indexes.

[0061] The multiple PRACH format or parameter sets being associated with different spatial resources (e.g., antenna port, transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state, or quasi co location (QCL) relationship) may also be considered for the coexistence of the different PRACH format or parameter sets.

[0062] For the coexistence of the different PRACH format or parameter sets, the multiple PRACH format or parameter sets may use a same resource. The preamble sequences may be generated based on different parameters. For example, in NR, multiple preambles can be generated by cyclic shifting a ZC sequence, where the cyclic shifting value is determined based on Ncs. With larger Ncs, preambles generated based on a same ZC sequence or root can be more tolerable to timing error, but fewer number of preamble sequence can be generated for a single ZC sequence or a single root. Hence, when to generating the candidate preambles to be used (64 preambles are generated for NR generally) , multiple Ncs values can be associated with different roots. The preambles generated based on a small Ncs can be used for TN or NTN UE with precise location information, while preambles generated based on large Ncs are used for NTN UE with coarse location information. The preambles may be orthogonal in code domain without introducing orthogonal time, frequency, or spatial resources. The code domain orthogonality may refer to zero correlation between preamble sequences.

[0063] Additionally, for the coexistence of the different PRACH format or parameter sets, for the multiple PRACH format or parameter sets, no constraints on the configuration may be considered. When the resources for the multiple PRACH format or parameter sets overlap or partially overlap , a network node may detect or decode respective PRACH in overlapped resources. The detection or decoding may be based on at least one of following methods. The methods can include direct detection of PRACH preamble. The other PRACH preamble (s) overlapped with target PRACH preamble may be regarded as noise or interference. Although the overlapped PRACH preambles may not be completely orthogonal, the interference may not be significant in response to detecting PRACH preamble through sequence correlation.

[0064] Successive interference cancellation may be used to detect PRACH preamble. Network may first detect a first PRACH preamble (e.g., preamble with best coverage performance, where other PRACH preamble may be regarded as interference or noise) . After (successful) detection of the first PRACH preamble, the network may cancel the first PRACH preamble in the received signal. Then, the network may detect a second PRACH preamble. The procedure may be repeated till the detection of all the PRACH preambles (in overlapped resources) . The methods also include using other algorithms for detection of multiple PRACH preambles (e.g., ML, MAP, MMSE, or AI. )

[0065] Issue 2: Adaptive Selection of PRACH Formats or Parameters

[0066] Moreover, how to select or determine the PRACH format or parameter set to be used may also be considered. The condition or criteria to use a PRACH format or parameter set may be introduced. For example, at least one of following conditions may be considered.

[0067] In some embodiments, the conditions may include UE capability or type. The UE capability or type may be a capability of positioning. More specifically, the capability of positioning may include a capability of GNSS positioning, NTN satellite based positioning, cellular based positioning, or other positioning methods. In some embodiments, the UE capability or type may be a capability of measurement. More specifically, the capability of measurement may include capability of GNSS measurement, measurement for signal from NTN satellite, reference signal measurement, or measurement for signal from other nodes In some embodiments, the UE capability or type may be a capability of TA, delay, or Doppler estimation. More specifically, the capability of TA, delay, or Doppler estimation may include a capability of estimating TA, delay, or Doppler for service link or feeder link or whole link (e.g., service link and feeder link) , which may be based on the assistance information (e.g., timestamp, ephemeris, common TA, or reference signal) indicated by network or information obtained by UE (e.g., UE location, mobility status, velocity, or trajectory) . The service link, feeder link, or whole link may refer to link corresponding to serving satellite, neighbor satellite, or positioning satellite. In some embodiments, the capability of pre-compensation may be the capability of estimating TA, delay, or Doppler to a network node.

[0068] The UE capability or type may be a capability of pre-compensation. More specifically, the capability of pre-compensation may include a capability of pre-compensation for TA, delay, or Doppler for service link, feeder link, or whole link (service link and feeder link) , which may be based on the assistance information (e.g., timestamp, ephemeris, common TA, reference signal, etc. ) indicated by network or information obtained by UE (e.g., UE location, mobility status, velocity, trajectory, etc. ) . The service link, feeder link, or whole link may refer to link corresponding to serving satellite, neighbor satellite, or positioning satellite.

[0069] In some embodiments, the capability of pre-compensation may be the capability of pre-compensation for TA, delay, or Doppler to a network node. The UE capability or type may be a capability of antenna gain or transmitting or receiving power of UE. For UE with higher antenna gain, a quality of received reference signal for positioning may be better and thus positioning accuracy improved. Moreover, the transmitting power of PRACH can also be improved, so that fewer PRACH symbols may be enough to satisfy a coverage requirement.

[0070] The conditions to use a PRACH format or parameter set may also include position accuracy. The UE may detect (e.g., determine) the accuracy or uncertainty of a position of the UE (within a time period) . The position may be obtained by GNSS positioning or measurement, or by NTN based positioning, or indicated by network node or function, or pre-stored, among others. The accuracy may be expressed by kilometer, meter, centimeter, or millimeter, among others (at a certain confidence level) .

[0071] The conditions to use a PRACH format or parameter set may also include measurement accuracy. The UE may determine the accuracy or uncertainty of measurement result (within a time period) . The measurement may refer to GNSS measurement, or measurement for reference signal from NTN satellites, or measurement of signal from a network node. The accuracy may be accuracy of timing (offset or error) measurement or frequency (offset or error) measurement.

[0072] The conditions to use a PRACH format or parameter set may also include position accuracy. The UE may determine the accuracy of the UE’s positioning method (e.g., GNSS positioning or NTN based positioning) . The positioning accuracy may be reflected by other factors. The factors may include, but not limited to at least one of the following.

[0073] The factors may include dilution of precision (DOP) . The DOP may refer to the DOP of NTN (positioning) satellites or GNSS satellites. DOP may be determined based on the geometry or timing of nodes (e.g., positions of nodes used for positioning, or clock or timing difference of nodes used for positioning) . The DOP may further refer to PDOP (position DOP) , HDOP (horizontal DOP) , VDOP (vertical DOP) , TDOP (time DOP) , or GDOP (geometric DOP) , among others. Small DOP may reflect better positioning accuracy from geometry perspective (e.g., compared to large DOP.

[0074] The factors may include received signal power or quality. For example, the received signal power or quality may include reference signal receiving power (RSRP) , reference signal receiving quality (RSRQ) , received signal strength indicator (RSSI) , signal to noise ratio (SNR) , signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) , or other parameters reflecting the quality of received signal. Good quality of received signal may enable better measurement accuracy and thus better positioning accuracy.

[0075] The factors may include elevation angle. For example, the elevation angle may include a distance between UE and satellite or node (for positioning) , the distance between a reference point (for the area, beam, or cell where UE locates) and satellite or node (for positioning) . Smaller distance may lead to better received signal quality and thus better positioning accuracy.

[0076] The factors may include a number of nodes for positioning. For example, the number of nodes for positioning may include the number of NTN (positioning) satellites, GNSS satellites, or nodes sending or receiving reference signal (for positioning) . More nodes used for positioning may enable better DOP or reference signal power and thus improving positioning accuracy. Note that the number of nodes for positioning may be varied along with time. The case of (temporary) GNSS unavailability or NTN positioning unavailability can also be covered by the number of nodes for positioning, where very limited or no GNSS satellite or NTN positioning satellite can be seen by UE at some time period.

[0077] The factors may include a time interval for measurement. Considering that satellites may have mobility (e.g., low-orbit satellite) , the satellite position may be varied along with time. Hence, satellite positions at different time instances can be regarded as different anchor nodes used for positioning. In this case, the UE may measure the reference signal from a satellite at different time instance to measure delay or delay difference corresponding to different nodes. In response to the time interval between measurement being wide, the satellite mobility can be significant and the corresponding anchor nodes can be better spread (corresponding to smaller DOP) . Hence, the longer time interval for measurement may lead to a better positioning accuracy. Note that the time interval for measurement may also refer to cases where the condition or criteria to use a PRACH format or parameter set can be directly defined / determined based on the factors reflecting positioning accuracy (without introducing the concept of positioning accuracy) . For example, DOP can be directly used as condition or criteria to use a PRACH format or parameter set.

[0078] The factors may include a time interval for pre-compensation accuracy. The UE may determine the accuracy of pre-compensation (within a time period) . The accuracy may be an accuracy of TA, delay, or timing pre-compensation or Doppler or frequency pre-compensation. The time interval for pre-compensation accuracy may also refer to the case where the condition or criteria to use a PRACH format or parameter set can be directly defined or determined based on the (residual) timing or frequency offset or error (after pre-compensation) . In this case, pre-compensation accuracy may not be included. In some embodiments, a pre-compensation accuracy, a measurement accuracy, or a positioning accuracy may identify, define, or otherwise correspond to a confidence level.

[0079] The factors may include the interval between current time and time instance for measurement, positioning, or assistance information acquisition. In response to the UE or satellite having mobility, the accuracy of pre-compensation may degrade due to inaccuracy of UE position or assistance information. Then, with longer intervals between current time and the time instance to obtain position or assistance information, the timing or frequency error may be larger and a more robust PRACH format or parameter set may be used.

[0080] The factors may include the interval between current time and expiry time for measurement, positioning, or assistance information, similar to the interval between current time and time instance for measurement, positioning, or assistance information acquisition described above. With shorter intervals between current time and expiry time of obtained position or assistance information, the timing or frequency error may be larger and more robust format or parameter set may be used.

[0081] The factors may include UE mobility status. For example, a UE velocity / speed / trajectory. For UE with high speed, the position error may be large especially after long time. The Doppler can also be large. Hence, UE may use a more robust PRACH format or parameter set.

[0082] The factors may also include factors that may impact TA / delay, Doppler, signal receiving power, signal transmitting power, position accuracy, measurement accuracy. For example, elevation angle, orbit height, satellite type, wireless network node type, UE type, UE transmit power, UE antenna gain, etc.

[0083] For each factor mentioned above, one or more values, thresholds, cases, scenarios, or conditions may be defined / introduced. The PRACH format or parameter set may be determined by UE or network according to the one or more values, thresholds. cases, or scenarios. The following includes examples of implementation, which may be used for any factor mentioned above.

[0084] The implementations can include a single capability regarding whether the UE can be able to perform positioning (e.g., based on GNSS or NTN satellites) . For a UE able to perform positioning, the PRACH format or parameter set to be the same as a TN may be used or configured. For a UE not able to perform positioning, the PRACH format or parameter set to a more robust TA, delay, or Doppler may be used or configured.

[0085] The implementations can include a single capability for a minimum positioning error. The UE cannot use or may not be configured with the PRACH format or parameter set which cannot resolve the (TA, delay, or Doppler caused by) minimum positioning error. In some embodiments, the UE can use or be configured with the PRACH format or parameter set that can at least handle the (TA, delay, or Doppler caused by) minimum positioning error.

[0086] The implementations can include N capabilities for positioning. Each of the N capabilities may correspond to a level of positioning error. Each capability may be associated with one or more PRACH format or parameter sets. The UE can use or be configured with the PRACH format or parameter set associated with the capability.

[0087] The implementations can include N thresholds for position error. Moreover, N or N+1 sets of PRACH format or parameter may be associated with the N thresholds. For UE with a position error larger than a maximum threshold, a first set of PRACH format or parameter may be used or configured (e.g., PRACH format or parameter most robust to TA, delay, or Doppler) . For UE with a position error lower than Xth largest threshold but higher than X+1th largest threshold, an X+1th set of PRACH format or parameter may be used or configured. For UE lower than the smallest threshold, an N+1th set of PRACH format or parameter may be used or configured. Similar procedure can be defined for other factors, which may have a same or opposite direction. For example, for DOP, smaller values imply smaller positioning error. Hence, same direction of thresholds can be used (e.g., more robust (larger) PRACH format or parameter set can be associated with a larger DOP) . While for RSRP, the opposite direction may be used (e.g., most robust PRACH format or parameter set may be associated with smallest RSRP) .

[0088] The above factors may be used in combination. For example, a capability for positioning and N thresholds for RSRP can be defined. For UE without positioning capability, the set of PRACH format or parameter that can be robust to TA, delay, or Doppler can be considered. The N thresholds for RSRP can further determine the PRACH format or parameter to be used within the considered set.

[0089] The one or more values, thresholds. cases, or scenarios discussed above may be defined by standard specification, or configured by network, or reported by UE, or determined by UE. Followings are examples of implementation, which may be used for any solution mentioned above.

[0090] The implementations can include N capabilities for positioning determined / defined up to UE implementation. UE may report the capability to network. The report may indicate the exact UE capability or minimum / maximum capability. The UE may determine the PRACH format or parameter according to the reported capability. In some embodiments, the network may configure the PRACH format or parameter (according to the UE reported capability) .

[0091] The implementations can include N thresholds for positioning accuracy configured by a network. The network may also configure the PRACH format or parameter associated with the thresholds. The UE may determine the PRACH format or parameter by comparing a position accuracy of the UE and the thresholds configured by the network.

[0092] The implementations can include the standard introducing N UE types, where each type can be associated with a set of PRACH formats or parameters. The UE may determine the PRACH format or parameter according to the UE type. In some embodiments, the UE may report the UE type. The network may configure the PRACH format or parameter (according to UE reported type) from the associated set.

[0093] For adaptive selection, additional UE procedure may be introduced besides receiving network indication and apply / use / select. For example, the UE may apply / use / select one or one sets of PRACH format or parameter in response to a condition (e.g., condition mentioned above) being satisfied. More specifically:

[0094] Example 2-1: Network can configure multiple parameters (for information mentioned above (e.g., PRACH format, resource, etc., which may be omitted in other examples, e.g., a plurality of PRACH parameters) . The multiple parameters (e.g., configuration) may be associated with different UE capabilities (e.g., plurality of capabilities of the wireless communication device) according to standard definition, network indication, or UE report. The UE can determine, select, or use (e.g., apply) parameter (e.g., at least one PRACH parameter from the plurality of PRACH parameters) according to the UE capability (and association relationship) .

[0095] Example 2-2: Network can configure multiple parameters. The multiple parameters may be associated with different conditions according to a standard definition, network indication, or UE report (e.g., plurality of conditions according to which at least one of the plurality of PRACH parameters can be applied) . The UE can determine, select, or use (e.g., apply) parameter according to whether or which condition can be satisfied (e.g., applying the at least one PRACH parameter) . For a more detailed example, N+1 sets of PRACH formats or parameters (which may correspond to different time or frequency tolerance) may be associated with the N thresholds of DOP or N+1 conditions of DOP. The UE may determine / identify / estimate DOP according to (position / ephemeris / time of) the satellites used for positioning or measurement.

[0096] Then, the UE may determine, select, or use the parameter associated with a satisfied DOP condition (e.g., use the PRACH or format corresponding to largest time or frequency tolerance in response to DOP being larger than largest DOP threshold) . The DOP may be replaced by other factors mentioned above such as RSRP. A larger than threshold may be replaced by a smaller than threshold (e.g., directions) . The different conditions can include at least one of a value of a parameter being larger than a threshold; a value of a parameter being smaller than the threshold; a value of a parameter being equal to the threshold; a value of a parameter being equal to a value; or the type of wireless communication device equal to a type.

[0097] The threshold or value of the parameter can include at least one of a position accuracy, a measurement accuracy, a dilution of precision (DOP) value, a receiving power, a pre-compensation error or accuracy, a timing error; a frequency error, a number of network nodes for positioning, a time interval between measurements, a time duration from a time instance of positioning, a time duration before a expiry time of positioning, a expiry time of measurement, a expiry time of assistance information, an elevation angle, a speed or velocity of the wireless communication device, a transmit power of the wireless communication device, or an antenna gain of the wireless communication device.

[0098] Example 2-3: Network can configure multiple parameters. The multiple parameters may be associated with different levels (e.g., plurality of levels) (regarding tolerance / robustness to time, frequency error, or offset) (e.g., at least one of a position error, measurement error, or pre-compensation error) according to a standard definition, network indication, or UE report. The UE can determine, select, or use (e.g., apply) parameter according to information of position / measurement / pre-compensation error. In response to not receiving a UE report, a default or fallback value may be used.

[0099] Example 2-4: Network can configure multiple candidate parameters. The UE can report capability, request, or the condition satisfied or assistance information (e.g., DOP or positioning error) . For example, the UE reports at least one of assistance information, a request for at least one PRACH parameter, or a capability of the wireless communication device. The network can further indicate the parameter (e.g., send the indication) from the multiple candidate parameters (after receiving UE report) .

[0100] Example 2-5: Network can configure multiple candidate parameters. The UE can identify whether or which condition can be satisfied. The UE can report a capability, request, or the condition satisfied or assistance information in response to one or more conditions being satisfied (e.g., DOP larger than one or more threshold) , or (the satisfied) condition changed (e.g., DOP changed from larger than a threshold to smaller than a threshold) . The network can further indicate the parameter from the multiple candidate parameters (after receiving UE report) .

[0101] Example 2-6: Network can configure multiple candidate parameters. The UE can identify whether or which condition (e.g., at least one condition of a plurality of conditions) can be satisfied periodically or constantly or in occasions or time indicated by network (e.g., in a time period) . The UE may switch or apply different parameters from the multiple candidate parameters according to a latest identified condition (e.g., at least one condition) . The network may configure the information of the occasions or time for identifying whether or which condition satisfied.

[0102] The information may comprise at least one of: a periodicity of occasions, a length or duration of occasion, a start time or offset of occasion, or a duration from a condition or PRACH parameter change to the first occasion. For a more detailed example, the UE may periodically measure the RSRP and apply PRACH parameter according to latest measured RSRP. That is, the PRACH parameter can be adaptively changed (e.g., switched) along with UE measured RSRP. The measurement time may be configured, enabled, or activated by network. The measurement time may comprise at least one of: a measurement periodicity, a length or duration of measurement window or gap, or a start time or offset of measurement window or gap.

[0103] Example 2-7: Network can configure multiple parameters. The multiple parameters may be associated with different levels or classes (regarding tolerance / robustness to time, frequency error, or offset) according to standard definition, network indication, or UE report. The UE may determine, select, or use (e.g., apply) one or one sets of parameters (e.g., randomly, lowest level, lowest level associated with UE capability, lowest level that satisfy a condition, initial level indicated by network, etc. ) If the PRACH transmission has been performed or failed (e.g., a number of failed PRACH transmissions) or not successful for N (N=1 or N>1) times (e.g., a threshold number) , the UE may determine, select, or use parameter associated with higher level or class than current / previous parameter (for subsequent PRACH transmission) . In some embodiments, if the PRACH transmission has been performed or failed or not successful for N (N=1 or N>1) times, the UE may determine, select, or use parameter associated with a highest level or class (for subsequent PRACH transmission) . A PRACH transmission failure or not successful may refer to the case where the UE transmits a PRACH preamble but does not receive a response.

[0104] Example 2-8: Network can configure multiple parameters. One or one sets of parameters may be the default or fallback value (according to network indication or standard definition) (e.g., default PRACH parameter) . The UE may determine, select, or use one or one set of parameters. If the PRACH transmission fail N (N=1 or N>1) times, the UE may determine, select, or use the default or fallback parameter.

[0105] For above examples, the number of PRACH transmission / failure / not successful may be counted by a counter or variable (e.g., counter to track number of failed PRACH transmissions corresponding to a number of failed PRACH transmissions) . Every time a PRACH can be transmitted, failed, or not successful, the counter or variable increases by one. In response to a PRACH being successfully transmitted, the counter or variable may be reset or set to 0 or 1. Moreover, a counter or variable may be used to count the increase of level or class. Every time the UE determines, selects, or uses a higher level or class, the counter or variable increases by one. The UE may determine, select, or use parameter according to the initial level or class / parameter and counter or variable for level or class increase.

[0106] Moreover, the level or class increase step may be indicated by a network (e.g., 2 levels or classes for each increase) . The UE may determine, select, or use parameter according to the initial level or class / parameter, counter or variable for level or class increase, and step. Note that the level or class in above examples may be referring to the case where a highest level or class corresponds to a highest robustness or tolerance to time, frequency error, or offset (in standard, levels or classes can be introduced without specifying for what aspects (e.g., timing error) .

[0107] A reverse level can also be defined. For example, a highest level or class corresponds to a lowest robustness or tolerance to time, frequency error, or offset. In this case, the counter or variable or step may be defined for level or class decrease (e.g., the level or class may be an initial level or class minus the product of the counter or variable and step) . Level or class can be defined for other aspects (e.g., different levels or classes correspond to different coverage performance) .

[0108] The above examples may be applied in combination. For example, the UE may determine, select, or use parameter as shown in example 2-1 to 2-3. In response to PRACH transmission failing N times, the UE may use default or fallback value as shown in example 2-8.

[0109] Moreover, when / whether the UE reports capability, request, or the condition satisfied, or assistance information may be determined by occurrence of event. For example, an event can be triggered in response to a condition being satisfied (e.g., DOP can be larger than a threshold) . An event can also be triggered in response to the (satisfied) condition being changed (e.g., DOP can be changing from smaller than a threshold to larger than a threshold) . The UE can report or start the procedure to report capability, request, the condition satisfied, or assistance information in response to the event being triggered.

[0110] For adaptive selection of PRACH format or parameter, UE may need to continuously identify, justify, measure, or report whether a condition satisfied or changed. Too frequent identification, justification, measurement, or report may increase the cost significantly, e.g., increase the power consumption or implementation complexity. Therefore, a validity duration may be associated with a PRACH format or parameter or condition. In some embodiments, a periodicity may be introduced for identification, justification, measurement, or report. UE only need to identify, justify, measure, or report the condition once within the validity duration or at / after expiry of validity duration. In some embodiments, the UE does not need to identify, justify, measure, or report the condition once within the validity duration. In some embodiments, UE only identify, justify, measure, or report the condition according to the periodicity. A validity duration or a periodicity may be determined by UE report, network configuration, or standard definition. More specifically, following examples can be considered.

[0111] Example 2-9: Network configure multiple candidate parameters. UE identifies whether or which condition can be satisfied. UE may report the satisfied condition and a (remaining) validity duration. Network may configure a parameter from the multiple candidate parameters. Network may not change or configure a parameter within validity duration (starting from the time of UE report with a length reported by UE) . Or UE may not perform identification, justification, measurement, or report before the expiry of validity duration.

[0112] Example 2-10: Network configure multiple candidate parameters. UE identifies whether or which condition can be satisfied. UE may report the satisfied condition. Network may configure a parameter from the multiple candidate parameters and a validity duration. Network may not change or configure a parameter within validity duration (starting from the time of configuration with a length configured by network) . Or UE may not perform identification, justification, measurement, or report before the expiry of validity duration.

[0113] Example 2-11: Network configure multiple candidate parameters. UE identifies whether or which condition can be satisfied according to a periodicity configured by network. UE may report the satisfied condition after the identification or according to a periodicity configured by network. Network may configure a parameter from the multiple candidate parameters after receiving the UE report.

[0114] Example 2-12: Network configure multiple candidate parameters. UE identifies whether or which condition can be satisfied according to a periodicity determined by UE. UE may report the satisfied condition and the periodicity. Network may configure a parameter from the multiple candidate parameters after receiving the UE report or according to the periodicity reported by UE.

[0115] In the following, some detailed examples for adaptive PRACH selection are proposed.

[0116] Example 2-13: The PRACH repetition number can be determined according to RSRP.

[0117] Example 2-13-1: Network configure multiple repetition numbers. UE measure RSRP. UE can select, apply, or report repetition number from the candidates configured by network.

[0118] Example 2-13-2: Network configure multiple repetition numbers and a RSRP threshold. UE measure RSRP. If measured RSRP can be larger than the RSRP threshold, UE does not perform repetition. Otherwise, UE can select, apply, or report repetition number from the candidates configured by network.

[0119] Example 2-13-3: Network configure multiple repetition numbers and at least one RSRP threshold. Network further configure the association relationship between repetition number and RSRP thresholds. Or the association relationship between repetition number and RSRP thresholds can be predefined. UE measure RSRP. UE can select, apply, or report repetition number from the candidates configured by network if measured RSRP can be smaller than (or equal to) an associated RSRP threshold.

[0120] Example 2-13-4: Network configure multiple repetition numbers. UE measure RSRP and report measurement result. Network configure a repetition number (from the multiple candidates) to UE.

[0121] Example 2-13-5: Network configure multiple repetition numbers and at least one RSRP threshold. UE measure RSRP and report the satisfied condition (more specifically, the RSRP can be smaller than a threshold or larger than a threshold) . Network configure a repetition number to UE.

[0122] Example 2-14: The time length of preamble (as mentioned above) can be determined according to RSRP. The detailed examples can be obtained by replacing “repetition number” by “time length of preamble” in 2-13-1 to 2-13-5.

[0123] Example 2-15: The PRACH format can be determined according to RSRP. The detailed examples can be obtained by replacing “repetition number” by “PRACH format” in 2-13-1 to 2-13-5.

[0124] Example 2-16: The zero correlation zone can be determined according to positioning capability or accuracy.

[0125] Example 2-16-1: Network configure multiple zero correlation zones. UE can select, apply, or report zero correlation zone from the candidates configured by network.

[0126] Example 2-16-2: Network configure multiple zero correlation zones. If UE does not have positioning capability, UE does not apply zero correlation zone (more specifically, UE does not generate preambles by cyclic shifting a sequence) . Otherwise, UE can select, apply, or report zero correlation zone from the candidates configured by network.

[0127] Example 2-16-3: Network configure multiple zero correlation zones and at least one positioning accuracy threshold. Network further configure the association relationship between zero correlation zone and positioning accuracy thresholds. Or the association relationship between zero correlation zone and positioning accuracy thresholds can be predefined. UE select, apply, or report zero correlation zone from the candidates configured by network if positioning accuracy can be smaller or larger than (or equal to) an associated positioning accuracy threshold.

[0128] Example 2-16-4: Network configure multiple zero correlation zones. UE report positioning accuracy. Network configure a zero correlation zone (from the multiple candidates) to UE.

[0129] Example 2-16-5: Network configure multiple zero correlation zones and at least one positioning accuracy threshold. UE report the satisfied condition (more specifically, the positioning accuracy can be smaller than a threshold or larger than a threshold) . Network configure a zero correlation zone to UE.

[0130] Example 2-17: The SCS can be determined according to positioning capability or accuracy. The detailed examples can be obtained by replacing “zero correlation zone” by “SCS” in 2-16-1 to 2-16-5.

[0131] Example 2-18: The cyclic prefix (CP) length can be determined according to positioning capability. If UE does not have positioning capability, the CP length can be zero. Otherwise, the CP length can be configured by network.

[0132] Example 2-19: The root number or sequence number can be determined according to positioning capability or accuracy. The detailed examples can be obtained by replacing “zero correlation zone” by “root number or sequence number” in 2-16-1 to 2-16-5.

[0133] Example 2-20: The sequence type (e.g., ZC sequence, m sequence, or Gold sequence) can be determined according to positioning capability or accuracy. The detailed examples can be obtained by replacing “zero correlation zone” by “sequence type” in 2-16-1 to 2-16-5.

[0134] Example 2-21: The PRACH format can be determined according to positioning capability or accuracy. The detailed examples can be obtained by replacing “zero correlation zone” by “PRACH format” in 2-16-1 to 2-16-5.

[0135] Example 2-22: The zero correlation zone, PRACH format, SCS, CP length, root number, or sequence number can be determined according to DOP. The detailed examples can be obtained by replacing “positioning accuracy” by “DOP” in 2-16 to 2-21.

[0136] Issue 3: Signaling

[0137] To enable the above enhancement, the related signalling should also be defined (e.g., on the multiple formats or parameters, resources for each format or parameter, adaptive selection mechanisms, etc. ) . Firstly, one or more PRACH formats or parameter sets can be configured by the network. At least one of following parameter may be configured.

[0138] The parameters may include a PRACH preamble format. The following factors may be considered or configured: preamble sequence (e.g., ZC sequence, m sequence, Gold sequence, or hybrid sequence) . The hybrid sequence may comprise more than one sequences but still regarded as one PRACH preamble (e.g., concatenated ZC sequence and m sequence, or concatenated two ZC sequences with different roots) . The factors can also include preamble sequence length or frequency width of preamble. For example, the preamble sequence length may be 139, 839, or 1151, etc. The frequency width of PRACH preamble may be product of subcarrier spacing and preamble sequence length. The factors may include subcarrier spacing (e.g., 1.25kHz, 3.75kHz, 5kHz, 15kHz, 15*2^u kHz (u may be an integer or fraction) ) . The factors can include a time length of preamble. For example, sequence number, symbol length, symbol number, CP length, etc. For hybrid sequence case, the time length of the multiple sequences may be configured separately or together.

[0139] The parameters may also include a cyclic shift value or zero correlation zone, (e.g., Ncs, restricted set, etc. ) For detailed configurations, multiple parameters may be used for indication of Ncs. For example, the network may first configure a restricted set to indicate which set of cyclic shift values can be configured (the detailed candidate values may be predefined in standard) . Then, the network may configure a detailed cyclic shift values (e.g., indicating an index which corresponds to a value of the set of cyclic shift values) .

[0140] The parameters may also include a root. The root can generate the preamble sequence (e.g., ZC sequence, m sequence, Gold sequence, etc. ) . The parameters may include RACH preamble or sequence number. For example, the number of RACH preamble or sequence that UE may use. A default value may be defined responsive to receiving no indication. The parameters may include a repetition number of PRACH. For example, UE may repeat PRACH transmission in multiple PRACH resource to improve the coverage performance of PRACH.

[0141] The parameters may include a frequency resource. Besides the frequency width determined by a preamble sequence length and subcarrier spacing, the multiplexing ratio and frequency location of PRACH preamble may also be configured. Hence, the network may further configure at least one of frequency start, RACH occasion number in frequency domain, interval or offset between RACH occasions in frequency domain, etc. The frequency start may be indicated via a subcarrier index, resource block index, subcarrier offset with respect to lowest subcarrier or subcarrier 0, resource block offset with respect to lowest subcarrier or lowest resource block or subcarrier 0 or resource block 0, subcarrier offset with respect to start or lowest subcarrier of control resource indicated in master information (e.g., CORESET0 in NR) , resource block offset with respect to start or lowest subcarrier or start or lowest resource block of control resource indicated in master information (e.g., CORESET0 in NR) .

[0142] Multiple frequency starts may be indicated respectively for each of RACH occasion in frequency domain. In some embodiments, the frequency start may only be indicated for one RACH occasion of multiple RACH occasions in frequency domain (e.g., RACH occasion with lowest frequency) . The interval or offset between RACH occasions in frequency domain may be indicated in number of subcarriers or resource blocks. Multiple intervals / offsets may be indicated respectively for each of the RACH occasions in frequency domain with respect to the lowest RACH occasion or nearest RACH occasion with lower frequency location. In some embodiments, only one interval or offset may be indicated, which can be the interval or offset between each adjacent pair of RACH occasions.

[0143] The parameters may include a time resource. Besides the time length mentioned above, the time location of PRACH preamble may also be configured. The network may configure a pattern of RACH occasions. At least the following parameters can be considered: index of frame that contains RACH occasion, periodicity of frames that contain RACH occasion, subframe number / index that contains RACH occasions, starting symbol of RACH slot / occasion / symbol, RACH slot number, (time domain) RACH occasion numbers within RACH slot, or RACH occasion duration.

[0144] The parameters may include an association relationship between RACH occasion and reference signal. Multiple beams may be enabled in a cell, where each beam may be associated with a reference signal. in response to indicating the association relationship between RACH occasion and the reference signal, the UE may determine (e.g., identify) which RACH occasion should be used for PRACH transmission for the current beam.

[0145] The parameters may include an association relationship between PRACH or preamble format and RACH occasion. For configuration, the network may configure PRACH resource per PRACH format or parameter. In some embodiments, the network can configure (the general) PRACH resource or RACH occasion. In addition, network further can configure the association relationship between the multiple PRACH format or parameter and the RACH occasions.

[0146] The above information may be configured together. For example, a table may be defined in the standard for a combination configuration of multiple factors (such as PRACH format, time resource, frequency resource, etc. ) . Each row, column, element, index of the table may correspond to a configuration (e.g., two PRACH formats and a time resource allocation) . The network may indicate an index. The UE may obtain the exact configuration according to the index and table.

[0147] Moreover, as mentioned in previous issues, adaptive selection of a PRACH format or parameter sets can be beneficial to accommodate various scenarios with different coverage performance, delay, or Doppler. The one or more values, thresholds, cases, scenarios, or conditions of factors (mentioned in issue 2) to determine the PRACH format or parameter set may be defined by a standard specification, configured by the network, reported by the UE, or determined by the UE.

[0148] At least one of following may be indicated by a network: one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for position accuracy or error; one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for measurement accuracy, error (for reference signal used for positioning) ; one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for DOP (e.g., PDOP, HPOD, VDOP, TDOP, or GDOP) ; one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for receive power (e.g., RSRP, RSRQ, RSSI, SINR, or SNR) ; one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for time or frequency error or offset; one or more thresholds, values, ranges for number of satellites, or nodes (used for positioning) (e.g., a number of network nodes for positioning) ; one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for time interval between measurements; one or more thresholds or time durations with respect to the time instance of measurement or positioning; one or more thresholds or time durations with respect to the expiry time of position, measurement, or assistance information (e.g., time duration before an expiry time of positioning, measurement, or assistance information) ; one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for elevation angle; one or more thresholds, values, ranges for UE speed, or velocity; one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for UE transmit power or antenna gain; or one or more thresholds, values, or ranges for (other) factors mentioned in issue 2; validity duration of a PRACH parameter or condition; periodicity of condition identification or measurement; start time or offset of condition identification or measurement; duration of condition identification or measurement, among others.

[0149] The UE may report some information or capability to the network. At least one of following may be indicated by UE: capability, value, or range of positioning (e.g., ability of GNSS positioning, GNSS positioning error, ability of cellular-or NTN-based positioning, cellular-or NTN-based positioning error, equipment of GNSS, etc. ) ; capability, value, or range of measurement (e.g., ability of GNSS measurement, GNSS measurement error, ability of measurement of reference signal (for positioning) , measurement error of reference signal, etc. ) ; capability, value, or range of pre-compensation (e.g., ability of pre-compensation, pre-compensation error, etc. ) ; capability, value, or range of transmit power or antenna gain (e.g., levels of transmit power or antenna gain) ; UE type (e.g., device type) ; UE speed or velocity; satellite number (for positioning that can be seen by UE) (e.g., number of network nodes for positioning) ; or one or more capabilities, values, or ranges for (other) factors mentioned in issue 2; validity duration of a PRACH parameter, condition, or request; periodicity of condition identification or measurement; start time or offset of condition identification or measurement; duration of condition identification or measurement, among others.

[0150] Note that multiple PRACH formats or parameter sets may be configured for adaptive selection. The association relationship between the multiple PRACH formats or parameter sets and the thresholds, capabilities, values, durations, or types mentioned above (e.g., association between configuration and capability) may also be configured by the network or reported or suggested by UE. For example, the network may configure N+1 PRACH formats or parameter sets, and N thresholds for a factor. The N+1 PRACH formats or parameter sets may be sequentially associated with N+1 scenarios determined by the N thresholds (e.g., first format or parameter set associated with the scenario where the value of factor smaller than lowest threshold, and so on) . As another example, the network may configure N PRACH formats or parameter sets, and N values for a factor. The N PRACH formats or parameter sets may be sequentially associated with N scenarios determined by the N values (e.g., first format or parameter set associated with the first value, and so on) .

[0151] As another example, the network configures N PRACH formats or parameter sets, and M values for a factor. In response to N>M, the N PRACH formats or parameter sets may be associated with M scenarios determined by the M values, where more than one PRACH format or parameter set can be associated with same scenario. For example, PRACH format or parameter set X can be associated with scenario [ (X-1)  / M] +1, [X / M] , X mod M, or [ (X-1) mod M] +1, etc. In response to N<M, the N PRACH formats or parameter sets may be associated with M scenarios determined by the M values, where one PRACH format or parameter set can be associated with multiple scenarios. For example, scenario X can be associated with a PRACH format or parameter set [ (X-1)  / N] +1, [X / N] , X mod N, or [ (X-1) mod N] +1, etc.

[0152] As another example, the network can configure N PRACH formats or parameter sets, and M thresholds for a factor. Similar to the above except that M+1 scenarios may be determined by the M thresholds. As another example, the UE can report capability, value, or range of any factor discussed above. The network can adaptively configure the PRACH format or parameter set. This may be applicable for a PDCCH ordered PRACH. As another example, the UE can determine a PRACH format or parameter set according to any factor mentioned above. The UE can report a capability, request, or suggest of PRACH format or parameter set. For example, the UE can determine that only a PRACH format tolerable to large Doppler can be used due to the fact that the UE cannot perform positioning. Then, the UE may report the suitable / feasible PRACH format to the network.

[0153] For the above signaling / information, the network may indicate to UE via at least one of: Master information (e.g., master information block (MIB) ) ; System information (e.g., system information block (SIB) ) , Broadcast channel / information (e.g., physical broadcast channel (PBCH) ) , Multicast channel / information (e.g., group common downlink control information (DCI) ) , Radio resource configuration signaling (e.g., RRC signaling) , media access control (MAC) signaling (e.g., media access control control element (MAC CE) , MAC header or subheader) , downlink control information / channel (e.g., physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , DCI) , parameter for physical signal (e.g., scrambling sequence, seed of scrambling sequence, etc. )

[0154] The UE may report to network via least one of: Selection of PRACH resource (e.g., PRACH format, preamble, time or frequency resource, etc. ) , Msg3 (e.g., payload of Msg3, MAC (sub) header in Msg3, MAC CE in Msg3, etc. ) , Msg5 (e.g., payload of Msg5, RRC signaling in Msg5, MAC (sub) header in Msg5, MAC CE in Msg5, etc. ) , MAC signaling (e.g., MAC CE, MAC (sub) header) , radio resource control (RRC) signaling (e.g., signaling carrying UE capability) .

[0155] For any of the information above, a default value may be defined / used for absence of the signaling. Enabling signaling may also be introduced for each function mentioned above, which can be configured via solutions mentioned above. For any indication, the network or UE may directly indicate an integer value (within a certain range) , or an enumerated value (within a list) , or an index (indicating a value / configuration / item in a table defined in standard) , or a value / order of a set of candidates (defined in standard, configured by network, or reported by UE) , or a choice of a value or value list. Moreover, for any indication above, reinterpretation may be used on some bit field or information element (IE) . For example, for DCI indication, at least one bit field or state may be used to indicate a parameter in a condition, while also used to indicate another parameter in another condition. More specifically, for example, in response to the UE reporting that the positioning accuracy can be poor, the DCI scheduling a PRACH may indicate parameters of two-root ZC sequence; while in response to UE reporting that the positioning accuracy can be good, a single-root ZC sequence may be enough and the bit field indicating the second root for two-root ZC sequence may be used to indicate the Ncs.

[0156] The final parameter / configuration of PRACH may be determined based on a combination of signaling mentioned above. Followings can be some examples of signaling combination, which can be applied for all information indication above.

[0157] Example 3-1: Network may configure multiple parameters. The UE can determine / select parameter or parameter sets from the multiple parameters indicated by the network. The UE may report or send a request / capability of the determined / selected parameter or parameter set (e.g., via signaling mentioned above) . More specifically:

[0158] Example 3-1-1: A single system information block (SIB) can be used to indicate multiple parameters. UE may select parameter to be used by implementation, capability, or randomly.

[0159] Example 3-1-2: Multiple SIBs can be used to indicate multiple parameters, where each SIB may indicate one of the multiple parameters. The multiple SIBs may be different SIB types, or same SIB type carrying different information. The multiple SIBs may be associated with different beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters (e.g., plurality of signaling associated with at least one of a respective beam, a respective cell, a respective area, a respective footprint, a respective reference signal, a respective TCI state, a respective port, a respective polarization, or a respective filter) . The RACH resource corresponding to an indicated parameter may be associated with a same beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter as SIB carrying the parameter. The UE may use the parameter in the SIB that the UE received. In some embodiments, the UE may use the parameter in the SIB associated with the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter that the UE can be located in or corresponds to. In response to more than one SIBs being received by the UE or associated with the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter that the UE can be located in or corresponds to, the UE may determine / select parameter from the parameters in the more than one SIBs. The determination or selection may be by an implementation, a capability, or randomly.

[0160] Example 3-1-3: Multiple SIBs can be used to indicate multiple parameters, where each SIB may indicate one or more of the multiple parameters. The multiple SIBs may be different SIB types, or a same SIB type carrying different information. The multiple SIBs may be associated with different beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters. The RACH resource corresponding to an indicated parameter may be associated with a same beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter as a SIB carrying the parameter (e.g., PRACH parameter associated with at least one of a respective beam, a respective cell, a respective area, a respective footprint, a respective reference signal, a respective transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state, a respective port, a respective polarization, or a respective filter of at least one of the plurality of signaling) . The UE may determine / select the parameter from the one or more parameters in the at least one SIB that the UE received. In some embodiments, the UE may determine / select parameter from the one or more parameters in the at least one SIB associated with the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter that the UE can be located in or corresponds to. The determination or selection may be by implementation, capability, or randomly.

[0161] Example 3-1-4: A single SIB may carry multiple IEs. Each IE may indicate one or more of the multiple parameters. The multiple IEs may be associated with different beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters. The RACH resource corresponding to indicated parameter may be associated with same beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter as IE indicating the parameter. The UE may determine / select parameter from the one or more parameters in the at least one IE associated with the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter that UE locates in or corresponds to. The determination or selection may be by implementation, capability, or randomly.

[0162] Example 3-2: Network may configure multiple parameters (e.g., via system information (SI) or broadcast channel mentioned above) . The network may further configure one or one sets of the multiple parameters (e.g., via dedicated signaling mentioned above, second configuration) . More specifically:

[0163] Example 3-2-1: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . A PDCCH / DCI may be used to order / trigger / schedule a PRACH. The PDCCH / DCI may indicate the parameter to be used.

[0164] Example 3-2-2: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . A dedicated RRC signaling or MAC CE or MAC header / subheader may be used to further indicate one or one set of the multiple parameters that can be used (e.g., for RACH in connected mode) . For a more detailed example, a MAC CE may trigger a PRACH transmission for cell switch. The MAC CE may indicate the parameter to be used.

[0165] Example 3-3: Network may configure multiple parameters (e.g., via SI or broadcast channel mentioned above) . The UE can report capability, request, or the condition satisfied or assistance information to the network (e.g., via signaling mentioned above) . The network may further configure one or one set of the multiple parameters (e.g., via dedicated signaling mentioned above) . More specifically:

[0166] Example 3-3-1: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . The UE may report request / capability for one or one sets of the multiple parameters. The network may further indicate the parameter to be used via PDCCH / DCI or RRC signaling or MAC signaling (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-2-1 to 3-2-2) .

[0167] Example 3-3-2: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . The UE may report capability or information of positioning or measurement / pre-compensation (e.g., accuracy of positioning) . The network may further indicate the parameter to be used via PDCCH / DCI or RRC signaling or MAC signaling (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-2-1 to 3-2-2) .

[0169] Example 3-4: Network may configure multiple parameters (e.g., via SI or broadcast channel mentioned above) . Network may configure (e.g., via signaling mentioned above) the association relationship (e.g., QCL type / information) between the multiple parameters and one or more (spatial) factors (e.g., beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters) . The association may be a one-to-one mapping, or multiple-to-one mapping, or one-to-multiple mapping. The parameter to be used may be determined according to a network indication or UE determination or selection of the one or more factors. In some embodiments, the candidate parameters to be used or configured may be determined according to a network indication or UE determination or selection (e.g., application) of the one or more factors. More specifically:

[0170] Example 3-4-1: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . Network may configure the association relationship between the multiple parameters and multiple beams / cells / areas / footprints / RSs / TCI-states / ports / ports / polarizations / filters, where each parameter or parameter set associated with at least one beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter. Network may further indicate the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter related information. UE may use the parameter associated with the indicated beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter. In response to multiple parameters being associated with a same beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter, network may further indicate parameter from the (candidate) parameters associated with the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter.

[0171] Example 3-4-2: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . Network may configure the association relationship between the multiple parameters and multiple beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters, where each parameter or parameter set associated with at least one beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter. UE may determine / select beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter according to measurement, e.g., RSRP of SSB or CSI-RS. UE may use the parameter associated with the beam, cell, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter corresponding to highest RSRP. In response to multiple parameters being associated with a same beam, cell, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter, the network may further indicate parameter from the (candidate) parameters associated with the beam / cell / area / footprint / RS / TCI-state / port / polarization corresponding to highest RSRP, or UE may determine / select from the (candidate) parameters associated with the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter corresponding to highest RSRP.

[0172] Example 3-4-3: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . UE may determine / select beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter according to measurement (e.g., RSRP of SSB or CSI-RS) . UE may determine / select from the (candidate) parameters associated with the beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters, corresponding to N highest RSRPs or RSRPs larger than a threshold (may be indicated by network or defined in standard) , or network may further indicate parameter from the (candidate) parameters associated with the beam, cell, area, footprint, RS, TCI-state, port, polarization, or filter corresponding to N highest RSRPs or RSRPs larger than a threshold (may be indicated by network or defined in standard) .

[0173] Example 3-5: Network may configure multiple parameters (e.g., via SI or broadcast channel mentioned above) . Network may configure (e.g., via signaling mentioned above) one or more values, thresholds. cases, or scenarios for one or more factors (mentioned in issue 2, e.g., positioning accuracy, measurement accuracy, DOP, RSRP, UE speed, etc. ) and the association relationship between the multiple parameters and the one or more values, thresholds. cases, or scenarios for one or more factors. The association may be one-to-one mapping, or multiple-to-one mapping, or one-to-multiple mapping. The parameter to be used or candidate parameters to be used / configured may be determined according to measurement / information (at UE) regarding the one or more factors. In some embodiments, the UE may report capability, request, or the condition satisfied or assistance information according to measurement / information regarding the one or more factors, and network further configure the parameter to be used or candidate parameters to be used / configured (after receiving UE report) . More specifically:

[0174] Example 3-5-1: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . Network may configure the association relationship between the multiple parameters and multiple capabilities / conditions of positioning accuracy, where each parameter or parameter set associated with at least one capability / condition of positioning accuracy. UE may use the parameter associated with capability / information of positioning accuracy of the UE. In response to multiple parameters being associated with a same capability / condition, UE may use one of the multiple parameters up to implementation or randomly.

[0175] Example 3-5-2: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . Network may configure the association relationship between the multiple parameters and one or more thresholds of positioning accuracy (e.g., as mentioned above) . UE may determine / select parameter by comparing positioning accuracy of the UE (up to UE measurement, or UE implementation, or UE information, or UE capability) with the one or more thresholds. UE may use the parameter satisfying the requirement, threshold, or condition of positioning accuracy. In response to multiple parameters being associated with a same requirement, threshold, or condition, network may further indicate parameter from the (candidate) parameters associated with the requirement, threshold, or condition, or UE may determine / select from the (candidate) parameters associated with the requirement, threshold, or condition. Satisfying requirement, threshold, or condition may refer to larger than the threshold, larger than or equal to the threshold, smaller than the threshold, or smaller than or equal to the threshold. In response to multiple thresholds being configured, satisfying a requirement, threshold, or condition may refer to larger than (or equal to) a target threshold while smaller than (or equal to) a larger (adjacent) threshold, or refer to smaller than (or equal to) a target threshold while larger than (or equal to) a smaller (adjacent) threshold.

[0176] Example 3-5-3: Multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs (e.g., as mentioned in examples 3-1-1 to 3-1-4) . Network may configure the association relationship between the multiple parameters and multiple conditions (e.g., N+1 conditions determined by N thresholds of DOP, RSRP, or positioning accuracy mentioned above) , where each parameter or parameter set associated with at least one condition. UE may report capability, request, or the condition satisfied or assistance information in response to one or more conditions being satisfied or changed (or an event triggered for a satisfaction or change of condition) . Network may further configure the parameter to be used or candidate parameters to be used / configured (e.g., in example 3-3-1 to 3-3-3) .

[0177] For any example above, an enabling or disabling signaling (for adaptive PRACH parameter selection, or for multiple PRACH parameter configuration) may be indicated (e.g., via signaling mentioned above) . One or one set of the multiple parameters indicated by network may be a default value (e.g., default PRACH parameter) . The default value may be used responsive to network indicating disabling signaling or not indicating enabling signaling; UE not having or sending capability of transmitting PRACH with some, certain, or advanced parameter; UE not having or sending capability of adaptive selection or determination of PRACH parameter; UE not reporting request of PRACH with some, certain, or advanced parameter; or UE not reporting request of adaptive selection or determination of PRACH parameter.

[0178] The UE may select or determine parameter (or network may further indicate parameter) to be used from the multiple parameters in response to network indicating enabling signaling or not indicate disabling signaling; UE having or sending capability of transmitting PRACH with some, certain, or advanced parameter; UE having or sending capability of adaptive selection or determination of PRACH parameter; UE reporting request of PRACH with some, certain, or advanced parameter; or UE reporting request of adaptive selection or determination of PRACH parameter.

[0179] The signals associated with different factors (e.g., beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters) , may share resources or overlap in resources / factors in other domains. For example, the signals associated with different beams, cells, areas, footprints, RSs, TCI-states, ports, polarizations, or filters may overlap in time-frequency domain. The RACH resource associated with an area can overlap with signals associated with other areas. Therefore, it may be unnecessary to avoid the collision between RO associated with an area and signals associated with another area, which saves the common channel overhead. Additionally, it may be unnecessary to consider the coexistence of different PRACH formats or parameters (in time, frequency, or code domain) responsive to the different PRACH formats or parameters being associated different areas.

[0182] In further detail, a wireless communication node (e.g., BS 102, 202) may provide, transmit, or otherwise send a configuration of PRACH parameters to a wireless communication device (e.g., UE 104, 204) (405) . In some embodiments, the PRACH parameter may indicate or include at least one of: a PRACH preamble format; a preamble sequence type; a preamble sequence length; a subcarrier spacing; time length of preamble; a cyclic shift value or zero correlation zone; at least one root for preamble sequence; a number of preamble sequence; a repetition number of PRACH preamble; a frequency start of PRACH resource; a number of PRACH resource in frequency domain; a multiplexing ratio in frequency domain; an interval between PRACH resources in frequency domain; a pattern of PRACH resource in time domain; a frame or subframe index containing PRACH resource; a periodicity of PRACH resource; a starting symbol of PRACH resource; a PRACH resource duration; a number of PRACH resource in time domain; a number of RACH slot, a number of RACH occasions in a RACH slot; an association relationship between PRACH resource and reference signal; an association relationship between a preamble format and PRACH resource; or a configuration index, among others. In some embodiments, the PRACH parameter may indicate or include a repetition number of PRACH preamble determined based on a reference signal receive power (RSRP) . In some embodiments the PRACH parameter may indicate or include a subcarrier spacing (SCS) determined according at least one of a positioning capability, a pre-compensation capability, a pre-compensation accuracy, or a positioning accuracy of the wireless communication device, among others. In some embodiments, the PRACH parameter may indicate or include at least one of a parameter for a single-root sequence when a positioning accuracy or a pre-compensation accuracy is below a threshold or a parameter for a two-root sequence when the positioning accuracy or the pre-compensation accuracy satisfies the threshold.

[0183] The configuration can identify or indicate a plurality of PRACH parameters associated with a plurality of capabilities associated with the wireless communication device. For example, the parameters may include a cyclic shift value, a root, or a frequency resource, among others. The configuration can include a plurality of conditions. The plurality of conditions can indicate at least one of at least one threshold for a parameter, at least one value for a parameter, or at least one type for a wireless communication device. The conditions can include position accuracy and / or measurement accuracy. The parameter of the at least one threshold and / or the at least one value can include at least one of a position accuracy, a measurement accuracy, a dilution of precision (DOP) value, a receiving power, a pre-compensation error or accuracy, a timing error; a frequency error, a number of network nodes for positioning, a time interval between measurements, a time duration from a time instance of positioning, a time duration before a expiry time of positioning, a expiry time of measurement, a expiry time of assistance information, an elevation angle, a speed or velocity of the wireless communication device, a transmit power of the wireless communication device, or an antenna gain of the wireless communication device.

[0184] The configuration can indicate that the plurality of PRACH parameters can be associated with a plurality of levels for at least one of a position error, a measurement error, or a pre-compensation error. For example, the plurality of PRACH parameters can be associated with different levels related to tolerance / robustness to time or frequency time, frequency error, or offset according to a standard definition, network indication, or a UE report. The configuration can also indicate that at least one PRACH parameter of the plurality of PRACH parameters can be a default PRACH parameter (e.g., default or fallback value) . The configuration can include at least one of: a validity duration of a PRACH parameter or condition; a periodicity of condition identification or measurement; a start time or offset of condition identification or measurement; a duration of condition identification or measurement; a threshold for a position accuracy or error; a threshold for measurement accuracy or error, a pre-compensation error or accuracy; a threshold for a dilution of precision (DOP) value; a threshold for receive power; a threshold for a timing error or offset; a threshold for a frequency error or offset; a threshold for a number of network nodes for positioning; a threshold for a time interval between measurements; a threshold for a time duration from a time instance of positioning; a threshold for a time duration before an expiry time of positioning, measurement, or assistance information; a threshold for an elevation angle; a threshold for a speed or velocity of the wireless communication device; or a threshold for a transmit power or an antenna gain of the wireless communication device, among others.

[0185] The configuration can include an association (e.g., association relationship) between the plurality of PRACH parameters and at least one of a beam, a cell, an area, a footprint, a reference signal, a TCI state, a port, a polarization, or a filter (e.g., spatial factors) , among others. For example, the configuration indicates an association between the plurality of PRACH parameters and one or more spatial factors. In some embodiments, the configuration can identify or indicate that the plurality of PRACH parameters are associated with a validity duration. The validity duration may correspond to at least one of a length reported by the wireless communication device or a length configured by the wireless communication node.

[0186] The wireless communication device can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the configuration of PRACH parameters from the wireless communication node (410) . The wireless communication device may receive the configuration via signaling. The signaling by the wireless communication node can include at least one of a master information block (MIB) , a system information block (SIB) , a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) , downlink control information (DCI) , a radio resource configuration (RRC) signaling, a media access control (MAC) signaling, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , or a physical signal including a scrambling parameter, among others.

[0187] The wireless communication device can receive the configuration by receiving a plurality of signaling corresponding to a plurality of configurations sent by the wireless communication node. Each of the plurality of signaling may be associated with at least one of a respective beam, a respective cell, a respective area, a respective footprint, a respective reference signal, a respective TCI state, a respective port, a respective polarization, or a respective filter. In this case, a RACH resource corresponding to at least one of the plurality of PRACH parameters may be associated with at least one of a respective beam, a respective cell, a respective area, a respective footprint, a respective reference signal, a respective transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state, a respective port, a respective polarization, or a respective filter of at least one of the plurality of signaling, among others.

[0188] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device receives a second configuration of one or more of the plurality of PRACH parameters via a dedicated signaling from the wireless communication node. For example, the wireless communication node configured a plurality of sets of PRACH parameters and transmits each of the plurality of sets of PRACH parameters to the wireless communication device. The wireless communication node can configure one or more sets of the multiple parameters via SI or broadcast channel. The multiple parameters may be indicated via one or more SIBs.

[0190] The wireless communication device may send the report via signaling. The signaling can include at least one of a PRACH resource, a Msg3, a Msg5, a MAC signaling, or RRC signaling, among others. The information may also include a signaling indicating at least one of an enabling or disabling of one or more of the plurality of PRACH parameters. The enabling or disabling signal may be for adaptive PRACH parameter selection or for multiple PRACH parameter configurations, and the wireless communication device may enable or disable one or more PRACH parameters of the configuration (e.g., or plurality of configuration) received from the wireless communication node.

[0191] In some embodiments, the wireless communication node transmits, indicates, or communicates information to the wireless communication device (415’ ) . For example, the wireless communication node may determine, apply, indicate, or otherwise identify a PRACH parameter from the plurality of PRACH parameters of the configuration. The wireless communication node may then send, transmit, or otherwise communicate the PRACH parameter to the wireless communication device, and the wireless communication device can send a PRACH according to the PRACH parameter. An association between the configuration and capability, threshold, or condition may be configured by at least one of the wireless communication devices or the wireless communication node. For example, at least one of the wireless communication devices or the wireless communication node can communicate information regarding the association.

[0192] The wireless communication node can send, transmit, or otherwise communicate an indication to the wireless communication device (420) . For example, in response to receiving the information, the wireless communication node sends an indication to the wireless communication device, and the wireless communication device receives the indication. The indication can indicate at least one PRACH parameter of the plurality of PRACH parameters for the PRACH. The wireless communication node can indicate at least one PRACH parameter from multiple candidate parameters.

[0193] The wireless communication device can apply, determine, or otherwise identify the PRACH parameter in response to at least one of communicating information to the wireless communication node or receiving the indication from the wireless communication node (425) . For example, the wireless communication device may receive the indication and send the PRACH according to the at least one PRACH parameter indicated in the indication. The wireless communication node or the wireless communication device may also indicate an integer value, an enumerated value, an index, a value / order of a set of candidates, or a choice of a value or value list.

[0194] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may identify at least one condition of a plurality of conditions as satisfied in accordance with a time period. The time period may be periodic or constant, or can also be indicated by the wireless communication node. In some embodiments, the time period may be configured by the wireless communication node or reported by the wireless communication device. Based on the at least one condition, the wireless communication device can apply the at least one PRACH parameter to send the PRACH to the wireless communication node. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device switches from another PRACH parameter to the at least one PRACH parameter based on the at least one condition. The wireless communication device may switch or apply different PRACH parameters based on a latest (e.g., most recent) identified condition.

[0195] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may apply, determine, or otherwise identify the PRACH parameter based on the capability of the wireless communication device. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device applies, determines, or otherwise identifies the PRACH parameter according to at least one of a plurality of conditions indicated by the configuration. The plurality of conditions can include at least one of a value of a parameter being larger than a threshold, a value of a parameter being smaller than the threshold, a value of a parameter being equal to the threshold, a value of a parameter being equal to a value, or the type of wireless communication device equal to a type. The parameter can include at least one of a position accuracy, a measurement accuracy, a dilution of precision (DOP) value, a receiving power, a pre-compensation error or accuracy, a timing error; a frequency error, a number of network nodes for positioning, a time interval between measurements, a time duration from a time instance of positioning, a time duration before a expiry time of positioning, a expiry time of measurement, a expiry time of assistance information, an elevation angle, a speed or velocity of the wireless communication device, a transmit power of the wireless communication device, or an antenna gain of the wireless communication device.

[0196] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may apply, determine, or otherwise identify the at least one PRACH parameter based on information on at least one of a position error, a measurement error, or a pre-compensation error. In some embodiments, in response to the configuration indicating that the plurality of PRACH parameters can be associated with a plurality of levels, the wireless communication device applies, determines, or otherwise identifies the at least one PRACH parameter corresponding to a lowest level of the plurality of levels. In some embodiments, in response to the configuration indicating that the plurality of PRACH parameters can be associated with a plurality of levels and a number of failed PRACH transmissions satisfying a threshold number, the wireless communication device applies, determines, or otherwise identifies the at least one PRACH parameter corresponding to a highest or higher level of the plurality of levels. In some embodiments, to track the number of failed PRACH transmissions, the wireless communication device may use, store, or update a counter corresponding to a level of a plurality of levels associated with the plurality of PRACH parameters. The counter may increase by one responsive to a PRACH transmission failing and reset to 0 or 1 responsive to a PRACH transmission succeeding. The counter may also be used to count an increase in level of the plurality of levels (e.g., to a higher level) .

[0197] The wireless communication device can transmit, communicate, or otherwise send a PRACH to the wireless communication node according to the PRACH parameter (430) . The PRACH parameter may have been applied by the wireless communication device according to the configuration indicated by the wireless communication node. The wireless communication node can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the PRACH sent according to the PRACH parameter by the wireless communication device (435) . In some embodiments, the wireless communication node may not to change the PRACH parameter during the validity duration.

[0198] While various embodiments of the present solution have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way of limitation. Likewise, the various diagrams may depict an example architectural or configuration, which are provided to enable persons of ordinary skill in the art to understand example features and functions of the present solution. Such persons would understand, however, that the solution is not restricted to the illustrated example architectures or configurations, but can be implemented using a variety of alternative architectures and configurations. Additionally, as would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, one or more features of one embodiment can be combined with one or more features of another embodiment described herein. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present disclosure should not be limited by any of the above-described illustrative embodiments.

[0199] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as “first, ” “second, ” and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0200] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits and symbols, for example, which may be referenced in the above description can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0201] A person of ordinary skill in the art would further appreciate that any of the various illustrative logical blocks, modules, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as “software” or a “software module) , or any combination of these techniques. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0202] Furthermore, a person of ordinary skill in the art would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, modules, devices, components and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, modules, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein.

[0203] If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD-ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.

[0204] In this document, the term “module” as used herein, refers to software, firmware, hardware, and any combination of these elements for performing the associated functions described herein. Additionally, for purpose of discussion, the various modules are described as discrete modules; however, as would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, two or more modules may be combined to form a single module that performs the associated functions according to embodiments of the present solution.

[0205] Additionally, memory or other storage, as well as communication components, may be employed in embodiments of the present solution. It will be appreciated that, for clarity purposes, the above description has described embodiments of the present solution with reference to different functional units and processors. However, it will be apparent that any suitable distribution of functionality between different functional units, processing logic elements or domains may be used without detracting from the present solution. For example, functionality illustrated to be performed by separate processing logic elements, or controllers, may be performed by the same processing logic element, or controller. Hence, references to specific functional units are only references to a suitable means for providing the described functionality, rather than indicative of a strict logical or physical structure or organization.

[0206] Various modifications to the embodiments described in this disclosure will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein can be applied to other embodiments without departing from the scope of this disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments shown herein, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the novel features and principles disclosed herein, as recited in the claims below.
