Impact assessment of reconfigurable intelligent surface adaptation

Abstract

A system for assessing the impact of a known or possible change in a configuration of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (14) controlled by a first cell on performance experienced in a second cell is configured to obtain a plurality of performance indicators. The performance indicators are based on a plurality of measurements obtained at multiple locations in the second cell on multiple signals by one or more user devices (12,22,23) during a time interval. The system is further configured to determine, based on the plurality of performance indicators, for each respective location of the multiple locations, a value indicative of a performance impact caused at the respective location by the known or possible change in configuration of the reconfigurable intelligent surface, and determine an aggregate over the multiple locations of the values indicative of a performance impact due to the change in configuration.
