AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Current containers for reconstitutable ophthalmic solutions lack sterility assurance and are not suitable for extemporaneous preparation, leading to potential contamination and environmental waste, especially for unstable active ingredients like peptides and proteins.

Method used

A container design with a deformable reservoir and integrated filtration system, including a capsule for the active ingredient, ensures sterility through air filtration and allows for extemporaneous reconstitution without preservatives, using materials like HDPE and LDPE for resilience and flexibility, with a tamper-evident seal and controlled dispensing.

Benefits of technology

The container maintains sterility, reduces waste, and facilitates easy preparation of ophthalmic solutions by ensuring sterility through air filtration and allowing extemporaneous reconstitution, minimizing contamination risks and environmental impact.

Abstract

The invention relates to a container (1) for packaging, reconstituting a liquid product, and controlled dispensing of the liquid product. This container comprises a reservoir (2) having an elastically deformable wall (3), the reservoir (2) causing air to be admitted into the reservoir (2) to compensate for the volume of liquid product dispensed. The reservoir contains the reservoir (2) containing one of a liquid (12) and a product comprising an active ingredient (13). The container (1) comprises a capsule (18) attached to a base (4) of the reservoir and containing, in an inner volume (22), the other of the liquid and the product comprising the active ingredient. The inner volume (22) is closed by a seal (23). The reservoir (2), the capsule (18) or the seal (23) comprises an activation element (26) suitable for causing the seal (23) to rupture by perforation or tearing under the effect of pressure exerted on a predefined region of the container (1).
