[0009] In practice, packaging machines, like clipping machines, are known for producing sausage-shaped products, like sausages, in which filling material is fed into a tub¬0 ular or bag-shaped packaging casing which is stored on a filling tube, and which is closed at its front end by at least one closure means, like a closure clip, i.e. the end of the packaging casing pointing in the feeding direction of the filling material. After a predetermined portion of filling material has been fed into the tubular or bagshaped packaging casing, the filled tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing is gathered by gathering means, a plait-like portion being at least substantially free from filling material is formed thereto, and at least one first closure clip is placed and closed on said plait-like portion by a clipping device, for closing the portion of the tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing just filled. Additionally, at least one second closure clip may be placed for closing the front end of the sausage-shaped0 product to be produced next. For severing the sausage-shaped product just produced from the remaining supply of a tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing, a cutting device may be provided for cutting off the casing material between the first and second closure clip. The sausage-shaped product just produced may then be discharged from the clipping machine by a discharge device, like a belt conveyor, for further treatment, like cooking or smoking.

[0010] Dependent on the kind of products to be produced, closure clips may be used, which are made of metal or of plastic. Due to the high force acting on said closure clips, said closure clips, when made of plastic, may be damaged, caused by material defects, abrasion or the like. In such clipping machines, particularly when processing U-shaped clips, which are fed into a guide channel and pushed by the first clipping tool or punch, towards the second clipping tool or die, said closure means or closure clip may stuck in said guide channel. This leads to incorrect closure or damages of the sausage-shaped products and to production losses and downtimes of the clipping machine.

[0011] Thus, it is an object of the present invention to provide closing tool assembly, which enables a reliable operation of a clipping machine and which reduces the risk of production losses.

[0012] According to a first embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a clipping tool assembly for closing at least one closure means, like a closure clip, in a packaging machine, like a clipping machine, for closing tubular or bag-shaped packaging casings. The clipping tool assembly comprises a clipping tool unit including at least one first clipping tool and at least one second clipping tool, for applying at least one closure means, like a closure clip to a tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing, by linearly reversibly moving the at least first clipping tool in a closing direction towards the at least second clipping tool. The clipping tool assembly comprises a support unit having at least a first frame element, the first frame element includes a guide arrangement for guiding the at least first closing tool and the closure means to be closed towards the at least second closing tool, the guide arrangement forms a guide channel which extends in the closing direction. In the inventive clipping tool arrangement, a removal unit is provided, for removing a closure means or remains thereof from the support unit of the clipping tool assembly.

Clipping machine 1 has a filling tube 10, the central axis A of which extends in the longitudinal direction and, in the embodiment shown, horizontally. Claims

Claims1 . A clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) for closing at least one closure means (C), such as a closure clip, in a packaging machine (100), such as a clipping machine, for closing tubular or bag-shaped packaging casings (M), the clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) comprising: a clipping tool unit (220) including at least one first clipping tool (222) and at least one second clipping tool (224), for applying at least one closure means (C) to a tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing (M), by linearly reversibly moving the at least first clipping tool (222) in a closing direction (CD) towards the at least second clipping tool (224); a support unit (300, 1300) having at least a first frame element (310, 1310), wherein the first frame element (310, 1310) includes a guide arrangement (340, 1340) for guiding the at least first closing tool (222) and a closure means (C) to be closed towards the at least second closing tool (224), and wherein the guide arrangement (340) forms a guide channel which extends in the closing direction (CD); and a removal unit (400, 1400) configured to remove a closure means (C), or remains thereof, from the support unit (300, 1300) of the clipping tool assembly (200, 1200).

2. The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 1 , wherein the sliding carriage (410, 1410) is linearly reversibly movable in a removal direction (RD), between a working position and a release position.

3. The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 2, wherein the removal unit (400) includes a sliding carriage (410, 1410) which is configured to form a portion of the guide arrangement (340, 1340) of the first frame element (310, 1310), when in the working position.

The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the guide arrangement (340, 1340) extends through the first frame element (310, 1310) and includes at least a first guide portion (342, 1342), a second guide portion (344, 1344) and a third guide portion (346, 1346).

5. The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 4, wherein the sliding carriage (410, 1410) has a first end (414, 1414) that forms the second guide portion (344, 1344) of the guide arrangement (340, 1340).

The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 5, wherein the first frame element (310, 1310) has a first side surface (316, 1316) and a second side surface (318, 1318), and comprises a guide recess (G, GR) provided in the first side surface (316, 1316) of the first frame element (310, 1310), in which the first end (414, 1414) of the sliding carriage (410, 1410) is reversibly guided in the removal direction (RD).

The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 6, wherein a discharge opening (DO) is provided in the first frame element (310, 1310), which extends from the guide recess (G, GR) to the second side surface (318, 1318) of the first frame element (310, 1310), and which coincides with the release position of the sliding carriage (410, 1410).

The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to any of claims 1 to 7, wherein the removal unit (400, 1400) includes an actuation assembly (450, 1450) for manually moving the sliding carriage (410, 1400) from the working position into the release position; or wherein the removal unit (400, 1400) includes an actuation assembly (450, 1450) for automatically moving the sliding carriage (410, 1410) from the working position into the release position.

9. The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to any of claims 1 to 8, wherein the removal unit (400, 1400) includes a securing mechanism (460), for securing the removal unit (400, 1400) in the working position.

The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to any of claims 1 to 9, comprising: the clipping tool unit (220) which includes a further first clipping tool (222) and a further second clipping tool (224), for applying a further closure means (C) to said tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing (M), by linearly reversibly moving the further first clipping tool (222) in a closing direction (CD) towards the further second clipping tool (224); and the support unit (300, 1300) which has a second frame element (330) arranged at least approximately parallel to the first frame element (310, 1310), the second frame element includes (330) a guide arrangement (340, 1340) for guiding the further first closing tool (222) and the closure means (C) to be closed towards the further second closing tool (224), the guide arrangement (340, 1340) forms a guide channel which extends in the closing direction (CD).

11. The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 10, wherein the sliding carriage (410, 1410) of the removal unit (400, 1400) forms a portion of the guide arrangement (340, 1340) of the second frame element (330).

12. The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 10 or 11 , wherein the guide channel (340, 1340) extends through the second frame element (330) and includes at least a first guide portion (342, 1342), a second guide portion (344, 1344) and a third guide portion (346, 1346).

13. The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to any of claims 10 to 12, wherein the sliding carriage (410, 1410) has a second end (416, 1416) that forms the second guide portion (344, 1344) of the guide arrangement (340, 1340) of the second frame element (330).

The clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) according to claim 13, wherein the second frame element (330) has a first side surface (336) and a second side surface (338), and comprises a guide recess (G, GR) provided inthe first side surface (336) of the second frame element (330), in which the second end (416, 1416) of the sliding carriage (410, 1410) is reversibly guided in the removal direction (RD).

15. The clipping tool assembly (1200) according to any of claims 1 to 14, wherein the sliding carriage (1410) comprises a guide portion (1420) for guiding the first closing tool (222) and the closure means (C) to be closed towards the second closing tool (224), and a cover portion (1430) for covering a clip window (CW) in the at least first frame element (1310).

16. The clipping tool assembly (1200) according to claim 15, wherein the cover portion (1430) of the sliding carriage (1410) includes a flat surface for covering the clip window (CW).

17. The clipping tool assembly (1200) according to claim 15 or 16, wherein the cover portion (1430) of the sliding carriage (1410) includes at least one recess (1434) for supporting the first closing tool (222).

18. The clipping tool assembly (1200) according to claim 17, wherein the recess (1434) has a shape that matches the shape of the first closing tool (220) ), preferably wherein the recess (1434) has a W shape.

19. A method for removing a closure means (C), like a closure clip, or remains thereof, from a clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) of a packaging machine (100), like a clipping machine, for closing tubular or bag-shaped packaging casings (M), the clipping tool assembly (200, 1200) comprising:- a clipping tool unit (220) including at least one first clipping tool (222) and at least one second clipping tool (224), for applying at least one closure means (C) to said tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing (M), by linearly reversibly moving the at least first clipping tool (222) in a closing direction (CD) towards the at least second clipping tool (224);- a support unit (300, 1300) having at least a first frame element (310, 1310), the first frame element (310, 1310) includes a guide arrangement (340, 1340) for guiding the at least first closing tool (222) and a closure means (C) to be closed towards the at least second closing tool (224), the guide arrangement (340, 1340) forms a guide channel which extends in the closing direction (CD); and- a removal unit (400, 1400) for removing a closure means (C) or remains thereof from the support unit (300, 1300) of the clipping tool assembly (200, 1200); the method comprising the steps of:- actuating the removal unit (400, 1400) for removing a closure means (C), or remains thereof, from the support unit (300, 1300) of the clipping tool assembly (200, 1200).
