Abstract

This display system is provided with an image data transmitter for transmitting image data, and a plurality of display units that each display, on a display section, partial image data of a preset area corresponding to the own display unit among the image data transmitted by the image data transmitter. Each of the plurality of display units sets two of input / output ports of the own display unit as a main-path input port and a main-path output port for connecting to display units positioned in the preceding and subsequent stages of the own display unit, sets an input / output port other than the main-path input port and the main-path output port as a sub-path input port or a sub-path output port for connecting to a display unit different from the display units positioned in the preceding and subsequent stages of the own display unit, and receives the image data by switching to the sub-path input port when the image data cannot be received through the main-path input port.

Claims

1. A display system comprising: an image data transmitter for transmitting image data; and a plurality of displays for displaying a portion of the image data transmitted by the image data transmitter that corresponds to a preset local display; each of the plurality of displays has at least three input / output ports to communicate the image data transmitted from the image data transmitter, and the image data can be transmitted via a cascaded main path through the input / output ports, and the image data can also be transmitted via a secondary path connected by a different path from the main path; each of the plurality of displays has two of the input / output ports of the local display set as a main path input port and a main path output port for connecting to displays located before and after the local display, and the input / output ports other than the main path input port and the main path output port set as secondary path input ports or secondary path output ports for connecting to displays different from the displays located before and after the local display; and a signal processing unit that switches to the secondary path input port to receive the image data when the image data cannot be received via the main path input port.

The display system according to claim 1, wherein the signal processing unit outputs the received image data from the main path output port and the sub-path output port; if the image data cannot be received from the main path input port, it sends a request to transmit the image data to the destination of the sub-path output port, changes the setting of the input / output port that sent the transmission request to an image input port and receives the image data; and if a request to transmit the image data is received from the sub-path input port, it changes the setting of the input / output port that received the transmission request to an image output port and transmits the received image data.

3. The display system according to claim 2, wherein when the signal processing unit receives the image data from the main path input port, it switches to the main path input port to receive the image data and returns the changed input / output port setting to the previous setting.
