Abstract
A blow molding system (10) includes an extrusion system (100) with at least one extruder (102a) that is configured to extrude a parison with an interior cavity (18). A stopper (110c) is operably coupled to one of the at least one extruder and can be operated between an open and a closed state. The parison features an outer layer (16c) and at least one inner layer (16b) that is different from the outer layer. The extruder is configured with a nozzle (108c) to selectively extrude the outer layer when the stopper is in the open state. The system also includes a blow pin (116) that extends into the interior cavity of the extruded parison and a mold assembly that defines a mold chamber. The parison is received within this mold chamber, and the mold assembly includes multiple mold cavities (208, 210) that each face the chamber and define a profile of a sole component for an article of footwear.
