Processes and systems for enhanced acid gas capture

Abstract

A process for desorption of an acid gas from loaded carbonate solution includes contacting the loaded carbonate solution with desorption enhancement structures that comprise non-soluble supports and acid surfaces on the non-soluble supports at desorption conditions to promote release of the acid gas, and in response to reduced activity of the acid surfaces, performing steps for reactivating or redeploying acid surfaces. A reboiler and systems with acid surfaces and various process configurations are also described.
