Abstract

The present invention relates to an orthosis for compressing superficial veins (SV) in the lumbar spine region. More specifically, the purpose of the present invention is to alleviate lower back pain or immediately improve the symptoms thereof by gently and evenly pressing SVs in the skin of the lumbar spine region, in order to treat or alleviate lower back pain due to an insufficiency of SVs distributed over the lumbar spine connection. A rectangular orthosis main body (100), which is made of memory foam having a hardness of 1 to 5 or an inflatable member, has a shape corresponding to the musculoskeletal shape of the lumbar spine region, and gently and evenly presses the skin over the SVs, includes a lumbar vertebrae region (10), a lumbar spine connection (20), and a sacral region (30), which are integrally formed.

Description

An assistive device that compresses the superficial veins of the lumbosacral region

[0001] The present invention relates to an assistive device for compressing superficial veins in the lumbosacral region, and more specifically, to an assistive device for compressing superficial veins in the lumbosacral region that helps alleviate and treat lower back pain by blocking backflow of blood through compression of superficial veins in the lumbosacral region caused by venous insufficiency.

[0002] Venous insufficiency causes various symptoms when venous blood refluxes, preventing sufficient drainage of blood within tissues. This leads to increased pressure in the tissue capillaries, causing them to dilate and induce edema, as well as impairing the function of fine nerves. However, compressing the vein blocks the reflux and lowers the capillary pressure, thereby alleviating the symptoms caused by the reflux either immediately or shortly after compression.

[0003] In detail, as illustrated in Fig. 1, in the case of lower back pain caused by insufficiency of the superficial vein located beneath the skin of the lumbosacral region, such symptoms disappear when the entire skin of the lumbosacral region is gently compressed.

[0004] However, in the case of braces for treating lower back pain such as those in prior patent documents (documents 1 to 4), the lumbosacral region is in a lordotic state protruding forward even in a normal spine, and since the curvature is formed by the gluteal muscles of the lumbosacral region, a gap occurs between the brace and the skin, so the veins within the skin are not compressed, and thus symptoms caused by venous reflux do not improve even when the brace is worn. This is because if even one refluxing vein is not compressed, the venous reflux in that area remains, and thus the symptoms do not improve.

[0005] Specifically, since the paravertebral muscles on both sides of the spinous processes of the lumbar vertebrae protrude and the central area and the lateral side of the paravertebral muscles are sunken, there is a problem in that when wearing a standard brace, the central part of the lumbar spine cannot compress the skin, and the lateral end of the paravertebral muscles has weak skin compression.

[0006] In addition, since the lumbosacral region—the connection between the lumbar and sacral vertebrae—is in a lordotic state protruding forward in a normal spine, it is pointed out that wearing a standard brace causes this area to be the most elevated.

[0008] In addition, regarding the pants-shaped garment disclosed in Patent Document 6 that is expected to have a lower back pain exercise effect, it is a method of increasing abdominal pressure to reduce the burden on the lower back by changing muscle activity caused by the wearer's walking movement and correcting posture, thereby preventing, improving, and alleviating lower back pain. Since the sacral region is due to the gluteus maximus on both sides, the lumbar region is due to the paravertebral muscles, and the lumbosacral region is in a lordotic state, a separation occurs from the skin, so the superficial veins are not compressed, and the pressure sensation from wearing is increased, making it unsuitable for application to subjects who have difficulty walking or standing due to lower back pain.

[0048] The best mode for carrying out the present invention is to use an orthotic device having a structure that evenly and gently compresses the superficial veins distributed within the skin of the lumbosacral region by utilizing a whole body or a lumbosacral connection-only body formed to correspond to the anatomical structure of the lumbosacral region. Specifically, the orthotic device according to the best mode of the present invention is a whole body in which the lumbar region, the lumbosacral connection, and the sacral region are integrally formed. It is formed to have different thicknesses and curvatures for each part, taking into account the musculoskeletal shape of the human lumbosacral region, such as the paravertebral muscle protrusion of the lumbar region, the depression caused by lordosis of the lumbosacral region, and the gluteus maximus protrusion of the sacral region. This ensures that the skin of the superficial vein area throughout the lumbosacral region is uniformly compressed without localized overpressure. The whole body is preferably formed of a memory foam material with a hardness range of 1 to 5, and may be configured to form a hollow space inside and inject air, water, or a phase change material to adjust the inflation pressure according to the user's body shape and wearing environment. In addition, the main body further includes a pressure sensor to measure skin contact pressure and adjust the injection amount based on this, thereby preventing excessive pressure while stably maintaining the therapeutic effect. The orthosis according to the best mode of the present invention is preferably used by inserting or attaching it to existing wearable orthoses or clothing, such as waist-pelvic bands, lumbar braces, pants, corsets, or pantyhose, and thereby effectively blocking reflux of superficial veins in the lumbosacral region, thereby immediately alleviating or continuously improving venous low back pain.

[0053] As illustrated in FIGS. 3 to 22, the orthotic device for compressing the superficial veins of the lumbosacral region according to the present invention is formed with an overall body (100) having a structure that evenly and gently adheres to and compresses the skin of the superficial vein (SV) region according to the shape of the lumbosacral skeletal region for treating or alleviating lower back pain caused by insufficiency of the superficial vein (SV) region distributed in the lumbar region corresponding to the 3rd and 4th lumbar vertebrae (L3, L4); the lumbosacral region corresponding to the 5th lumbar vertebra and 1st sacral vertebra; and the sacral region corresponding to the remaining part of the sacrum (2nd to 5th sacral vertebrae). The overall body (100) is formed such that the lumbar region (10), the lumbosacral connecting region (20), and the sacral region (30) are formed as a single unit.

[0054] In the lumbar region (10) of the 3rd and 4th lumbar vertebrae (L3, L4) above, the paravertebral muscles on both sides of the spinous process of the lumbar vertebrae protrude, and the central region and the outer side of the paravertebral muscles are sunken. Therefore, when wearing a general brace, the central region of the lumbar vertebrae cannot compress the skin, and the outer end of the paravertebral muscles has weak skin compression force. Accordingly, the lumbar region of the overall body (100) according to the present invention must have the thickest central region, the thinnest region in contact with the paravertebral muscles, and the outer side of the paravertebral muscles is formed to be thicker than the paravertebral muscle contact region. In the case of the 5th lumbar vertebra (L5) and 1st sacral vertebra (S1) above, the lumbosacral connection part (20) is in a lordotic state where it protrudes forward in the case of a general spine, so when viewed from behind, it is sunken, and when wearing a general brace, this region is the highest. Since this area has no muscle and is almost flat with a triangular portion of the multifidus tendon, but has a slightly indented central part, the lumbosacral connection part (20) according to the present invention is formed in a slope shape with the thickest and flattest part and a smooth curve, with the central part being the thickest and the outer part being thinner than that, and the sacral part (30) corresponding to the remaining part of the sacrum (sacrum 2 to 5) has the gluteus maximus (GM) protruding on both sides of the sacrum as shown in FIG. 22-a, so when a general brace is worn, the brace lifts due to the gluteus maximus and cannot compress the skin of the sacral part.

[0058] As shown in FIGS. 4 to 8 and FIGS. 12, 13b, 14b, 15b, 16b, 17b, and 18b, the overall body (100) according to the present invention has a planar dimension of 200 mm in width and 200 mm in height, and corresponds to the central part and the outer part of the paravertebral muscles protruding on both sides of the spinous process of the lumbar vertebra and the area where the paravertebral muscles are sunken. As shown in the cross-sectional view along lines C-C', D-D', and E-E' of FIG. 6 and FIGS. 8c, 8d, and 8e, the central lumbar ridge (10a) is provided with a thickness of 15 to 15.3 mm, and on the left and right sides of the protrusion, the indentation bottom thickness is 5 mm, and at the outer rim 33 mm portion, the thickness is 73 to 10.2 mm, with a planar butterfly shape. The paravertebral muscle close indentation (10b) is formed in a left and right arrangement.

[0059] Here, the lumbosacral connecting portion (20) connected to the lumbar portion (10) is in a lordotic state where it protrudes forward in most spines, and is composed of a flat multifidus tendon without muscles and has a slightly indented central portion. Accordingly, it is connected to the sacral portion (30) with a width of 200 mm as shown in the cross-sectional view along line B-B' of FIG. 6 and FIG. 8b, and has a smooth curve with the thickest central portion being 25 mm, and the outermost portion being 5 mm thick in a slope shape, and the longitudinal line connecting the lumbosacral connecting portion and the lumbar portion is formed as a slope with a height of 10.2 mm from 25 mm as shown in FIG. 8d.

[0061] As described above, in addition to the overall body (100) of the assistive device for compressing the superficial veins of the lumbosacral region according to the present invention, there is no need to consider the musculoskeletal system of the lumbosacral region when venous insufficiency is present only in the lumbosacral region and not in the lumbar or sacral region, so the musculoskeletal system of the lumbosacral region is considered and only the musculoskeletal system of the lumbosacral region is considered and only the area is compressed.
