Abstract

This invention relates to the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technology, and discloses a TCM composition for treating cachexia and its preparation method. The composition comprises five grains (a type of insect), Astragalus membranaceus, stir-fried Atractylodes macrocephala, Polygonatum sibiricum, Lycium barbarum, Ophiopogon japonicus, Citrus reticulata peel, Panax notoginseng, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. Stir-fried Atractylodes macrocephala can be replaced with Poria cocos, Ophiopogon japonicus can be replaced with Polygonatum odoratum, and Citrus reticulata peel can be replaced with Amomum villosum. This formula is based on the principle of "strengthening the body's resistance, detoxifying and removing blood stasis," enhancing the effects of invigorating the spleen and stomach, promoting body fluid production and moistening dryness, while avoiding greasy and cloying substances that may hinder digestion. The preparation method involves cleaning, pulverizing, decocting, extracting, and drying the raw materials to obtain granules. This composition can be used to treat cachexia caused by various tumors such as lung cancer and liver cancer. Animal experiments have verified that it can significantly increase patients' food intake, improve cancer-related fatigue, inhibit tumor growth, alleviate muscle atrophy and splenomegaly, regulate blood routine, and improve anemia and immune function, providing a safe and effective option for the treatment of cachexia.
