System and method for pairing a wireless gear shifting device with a wireless receiver associated with a gear shifting device in a wireless gear shifting system for a bicycle, the method comprising: causing the wireless receiver to enter a pairing mode by means of a processing unit of the wireless receiver when an interruption or cancellation of a charging process at a charging port of the wireless receiver is detected.
