Abstract
Description
Background of the invention The present invention relates to a measuring tool and in particular a measuring and marking tool that is capable of measuring angles, marking positions and performing leveling measurements. In woodworking, construction, and renovation work, measuring tools are commonly used to measure angles and mark positions on a workpiece, for example, in roof construction, stair building, or when cutting boards. To improve work efficiency, triangular rulers or measuring tools with a triangular base are frequently used, allowing the user to quickly measure angles and make marks using the edges or scales of the base. However, conventional measuring and marking tools still have certain limitations in practical application. For example, if different angles need to be measured or repeated markings are required, the user often has to reposition the tool repeatedly, which can impair ease of use. Furthermore, some conventional tools still need improvement regarding their angle adjustment and locking mechanisms, which can affect measuring accuracy and user-friendliness. Therefore, there is still a need for an improved measuring and marking tool that simplifies angle setting and operation, thereby improving overall usability and measurement efficiency. Brief description of the invention The object of the present invention is to provide a measuring and marking tool comprising an arm by which an angle adjustment can be made and a locking mechanism, thereby enabling a user to make measurements and markings in different angular positions while simultaneously improving ease of use and measuring accuracy. To solve the above problem, the measuring and marking tool comprises a base body, a main arm, and a locking mechanism. The base body has a first side, a second side, and a hypotenuse side. A pivot section is provided between the first and second sides, and a first guide extends in a direction parallel to the hypotenuse side. The main arm is pivotally connected to the pivot section and has a second guide extending along one direction of extension of the main arm. The locking arrangement is displaceable along the first guide and the second guide and movable between a locking position and an unlocking position to limit or allow pivoting of the main arm relative to the base body, thereby enabling the main arm to be set to a desired angular position. In one embodiment of the present invention, the locking arrangement comprises a first guide element, a limiting element, and a locking element. The first guide element has a first guide section and a second guide section, wherein the first guide section is slidably arranged in the first guide and the second guide section extends through the second guide, so that the locking arrangement is movable along the first guide and the second guide. The limiting element is arranged in a receiving opening of the first guide element and is in contact with a bottom surface of the first guide. When the locking assembly is in the locked position, the locking element rests against the limiting element, so that the limiting element presses against the bottom surface of the first guide and thereby fixes the position of the main arm. In some embodiments, the measuring and marking tool may further include an auxiliary arm and a spacer element, so that the base body is arranged between the main arm and the auxiliary arm to form a frame structure, thereby improving stability during measuring and marking operations. Brief description of the drawings Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a measuring and marking tool according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein a locking arrangement is in a locked position; Fig. 2 shows a perspective exploded view of the measuring and marking tool shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 shows a top view of the measuring and marking tool shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 4 shows a cross-sectional view along section line 4-4 in Fig. 3; Fig. 5 shows a continuation of Fig. 4 to show the locking arrangement in an unlocked position; and Fig. 6 shows a continuation of Fig. 5 to show the main arm pivoted relative to the base body. Detailed description of the invention According to Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3, Fig. 4, Fig. 5 to Fig. 6, a measuring and marking tool according to an embodiment of the present invention has a base body 10, a main arm 20 and a locking arrangement 30. The base body 10 has a first side 11, a second side 12, and a hypotenuse side 13. In the present embodiment, the first side 11 and the second side 12 are perpendicular to each other, so that the base body 10 forms a right-angled triangular structure. A pivot point section 14 is provided at the intersection of the first side 11 and the second side 12. The base body 10 also has a first guide 15 that extends in a direction parallel to the hypotenuse side 13. In this embodiment, the first guide 15 is a linear guide that is recessed into the base body 10. The main arm 20 is pivotally connected to the pivot point section 14, so that the main arm 20 is pivotable relative to the base body 10. A second guide 21 is formed in the main arm 20, extending along one direction of extension of the main arm 20. In this embodiment, the second guide 21 extends through the main arm 20. The locking arrangement 30 is displaceable along the first guide 15 and the second guide 21 and can be moved between a locking position and an unlocking position to limit or allow the pivoting of the main arm 20 relative to the base body 10. Therefore, a user can set the main arm 20 to a desired angular position and fix the position of the main arm 20 by means of the locking arrangement 30 to perform measuring and marking operations. The locking arrangement 30 comprises a first guide element 31, a limiting element 32, and a locking element 33. The first guide element 31 has a first guide section 311, a second guide section 312, a contact section 313, and a receiving opening 314. The first guide section 311 is slidably arranged in the first guide 15 and is movable along the first guide 15. The second guide section 312 extends through the second guide 21 and is movable along the second guide 21. The contact section 313 is formed between the first guide section 311 and the second guide section 312 and is simultaneously in contact with the base body 10 and the main arm 20, so that the first guide element 31 can move stably relative to the first guide 15 and the second guide 21. The receiving opening 314 extends through the first guide section 311, the second guide section 312, and the contact section 313. The limiting element 32 is movably arranged in the receiving opening 314 and is in contact with a bottom surface of the first guide 15. In this embodiment, the limiting element 32 can be made of a plastic material to prevent scratching of the bottom surface of the first guide 15 during locking. The locking element 33 is movably connected to the receiving opening 314. In this embodiment, the receiving opening 314 is provided with an internal threaded section 315 on an inner wall corresponding to the second guide section 312, and the locking element 33 has an external threaded section 331. The external threaded section 331 engages with the internal threaded section 315, allowing the locking element 33 to move relative to the first guide element 31 and to selectively bear against the limiting element 32. As shown in Figures 4 and 5, when the locking assembly 30 is in the locked position, the locking element 33 rests against the limiting element 32, so that the limiting element 32 presses against the bottom surface of the first guide 15 and thereby limits the pivoting movement of the main arm 20 relative to the base body 10. When the locking element 33 is rotated by the user to move it relative to the receiving opening 314, the locking element 33 no longer rests against the limiting element 32. Consequently, the limiting element 32 no longer presses against the bottom surface of the first guide 15, allowing the locking assembly 30 to slide along the first guide 15 and the second guide 21, as shown in Figure 6, so that the main arm 20 can pivot relative to the base body 10. In some embodiments, the measuring and marking tool may further comprise an auxiliary arm 40 and a spacer element 50. The auxiliary arm 40 is pivotally connected to the pivot section 14 and is located on a different side of the base body 10, such that the base body 10 is positioned between the main arm 20 and the auxiliary arm 40. The spacer element 50 connects opposite ends of the main arm 20 and the auxiliary arm 40 to form a frame structure, thereby improving stability during measuring and marking operations. The base body 10 may further comprise a third guide 16, which is arranged on a different surface of the base body 10 opposite the first guide 15. The auxiliary arm 40 has a fourth guide 41, which extends along one direction of extension of the auxiliary arm 40. The locking arrangement 30 further comprises a second guide element 34, which is slidably arranged in the third guide 16 and the fourth guide 41 and is movable along the third guide 16 and the fourth guide 41. In addition, the main arm 20 and the auxiliary arm 40 can each be equipped with a spirit level 60, so that a user can perform a leveling measurement using the spirit level 60, thereby improving the functionality of the measuring and marking tool. The structural arrangement of the base body 10, the main arm 20, and the locking device 30 allows the main arm 20 to pivot relative to the base body 10 and be fixed in a desired angular position by means of the locking device 30, thus facilitating angle measurement and marking operations. Furthermore, the structural arrangement of the first guide element 31, the limiting element 32, and the locking element 33 allows for convenient locking and unlocking operations while preventing damage to the base surface of the first guide 15, thereby improving the tool's durability and reliability. In some embodiments, the auxiliary arm 40, the spacer element 50, and the spirit level 60 can further enhance measuring stability and functionality.
