Abstract
Description
Technical field of the invention
[0001] The invention relates to an applicator for a cosmetic product, in particular mascara, and an associated applicator assembly. The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing such an applicator. Technical background
[0002] Mascara applicators can be obtained from fibrous elements held between the longitudinal parts of a twisted metal pin; they are then commonly called "twisted brushes". The ends of the fibrous elements usually form envelopes in a longitudinal extension direction of the brush. Twisted brushes have, by their manufacturing method, a cylindrical shaped envelope which offers few possibilities in terms of makeup effects. Many solutions have already been proposed to give varied shapes to twisted brushes.
[0003] Mascara applicators can also be made by injection molding plastic, and are commonly referred to as "plastic brushes." Plastic brushes can be given unique shapes to create unique makeup effects.
[0004] However, there is still a need to improve mascara applicators, in particular to obtain applicators ensuring a sufficient load of cosmetic product and good restitution of the latter, while maintaining flexibility of application of the cosmetic product. WO2016 / 042216 describes an applicator comprising a core with movable branches. Summary of the invention
[0005] The invention relates to an applicator for a cosmetic product according to claim 1, comprising: a core extending along a longitudinal extension direction, called the main direction, at least one movable element extending over all or part of a length of the core from a first end fixed to the core towards a second end free to move relative to the core.
[0006] Said core and / or the at least one movable element comprise a plurality of projecting protrusions.
[0007] Unlike applicators comprising elements whose two ends are fixed to the core for which pressure on these elements causes elastic deformation, for example in an M shape with central pinching and non-uniform distribution of the cosmetic product along the core, in such an applicator, pressure on the movable element causes it to move relative to the core, which leads to distribution of the cosmetic product over the entire length of the core.
[0008] This improvement in the distribution of the cosmetic product allows for better loading of the cosmetic product and the eyelashes can be enveloped in a maximum of cosmetic product which increases the volume effect, in particular depending on the pressure exerted. It is thus possible to reduce the length of the protuberances to improve the combing of the eyelashes.
[0009] Furthermore, the use of an element extending over all or part of a length of the core makes it possible to use a core having a cross-section of a smaller dimension than that of a conventional applicator. This makes it possible to have a more flexible applicator. Similarly, the displacement relative to the core of one of the ends of the movable element also makes it possible to provide flexibility to the applicator.
[0010] According to different embodiments, which can be taken together or separately: the at least one movable element extends around the core, the first end is fixed at a distal end of the core, the first end is fixed at a proximal end of the core, the proximal end of the core is capable of being fixed to an applicator rod by a sleeve extending the core, the second end of the movable element is free to move relative to the sleeve, the second end of the movable element is free to move relative to the rod of the applicator, the free-moving end of the movable element does not form the sleeve of the applicator, the second end of the movable element is free to move relative to the core when the applicator is fixed to the rod, the at least one movable element comprises a wall having at least one opening through which protuberances of the core project, the wall is deformable, the opening has an elongated shape in the direction of extension of the core, the at least one movable element comprises branches extending in the direction of extension of the core, said branches are separated by said openings, the branches are connected to each other by a ring at the free end, the branches are integral with each other, the protrusions of the core are arranged in longitudinal rows parallel to the main axis, the protrusions of the core are arranged in rows which wind helically around the core, the protrusions of the at least one movable element are arranged between the openings. the protrusions of the at least one movable element are arranged in longitudinal rows parallel to the main axis, the longitudinal rows of protrusions of the core are angularly alternated with the longitudinal rows of protrusions of the at least one movable element,an angular distribution of the protuberances of the core and an angular distribution of the protuberances of the at least one movable element are configured so as to leave areas free of protuberances between the protuberances of one of the branches and the protuberances of the core passing through the neighboring opening, said at least one movable element moves according to an angular displacement relative to the core, the angular displacement is between -30° and +30°, or even between -10° and +10°, or even preferably between -2.5° and +2.5°, said at least one movable element comprising at least three longitudinal openings each extending along the main direction so as to form at least three longitudinal rows of protuberances alternating with at least three longitudinal rows of protuberances of the core, said movable element has an elongated ogive shape in a direction substantially coaxial with the main direction, the applicator is a monolithic part, the applicator is a part obtained without assembly, the applicator is a part obtained by additive manufacturing. The invention also relates to an applicator assembly for a cosmetic product, comprising: a container comprising a body forming a reservoir intended to contain the cosmetic product, and an applicator of the cosmetic product according to claim 1, adapted to be fixed on the container, so that the applicator is housed inside the reservoir.
[0011] Advantageously, the at least one movable element has a cross-section at the free end with a diameter smaller than an internal diameter of a wiper fixed inside the container,
[0012] The invention finally relates to a method for manufacturing an applicator for a cosmetic product, in particular mascara, according to claim 1.
[0013] The process includes: a step of developing a digital model of the applicator; a step of manufacturing the applicator using the digital model. Brief description of the figures

Detailed description of the invention
[0015] As illustrated in the figure 1 , the invention relates to an applicator 1 for a cosmetic product, in particular for mascara, comprising a core 2 extending along a longitudinal direction of extension, called the main direction and marked X on the figure 1 The core 2 has a proximal end 2b capable of being fixed to a rod 3 of the applicator 1 by a sleeve 4 extending the core 2, and a free end, also called the distal end 2a, opposite the proximal end 2b along the main direction X.
[0016] According to the invention, the applicator 1 further comprises at least one movable element 5, 5A, 5B extending over all or part of a length of the core 2 from a first end 5a, 5aA, 5aB fixed to the core 2 towards a second end 5b, 5bA, 5bB free to move relative to the core 2. The second end 5b, 5bA, 5bB is opposite the first end 5a, 5aA, 5aB.
[0017] The applicator 1 further comprises a plurality of protrusions 7.1 integral with the core 2 and a plurality of protrusions 7.2, 7.2a, 7.2B integral with the movable element 5, 5A, 5B.
[0018] Advantageously, the core 2, the movable element 5, 5A, 5B and the protrusions 7.1, 7.2, 7.2a, 7.2B are thus produced in a single piece.
[0019] Sleeve 4 is free of protrusions.
[0020] Advantageously, said at least one movable element 5, 5A, 5B moves according to an angular movement relative to the core 2. Preferably, the angular movement is between -30° and +30°, or even between -10° and +10°, or even preferably between -2.5° and +2.5°.
[0021] In the embodiment shown in figures 1 to 6 , the movable element 5 comprises three branches 9 extending in the direction of extension X of the core 2 from the first end 5a fixed at the distal end 2a of the core 2 towards the second end 5b connected to a ring 11 forming the free end in movement relative to the core 2 of the movable element 5. The ring 11 surrounds the core so that the core passes through it. Advantageously, the ring 11 is circular.
[0022] The ring has an internal surface 11i directed towards the core 2 and an external surface 11e directed towards the outside
[0023] The branches 9 extend over the entire length of the core 2 from the distal end 2a thereof to which they are fixed towards its proximal end 2b where they are free to move relative to the core 2.
[0024] The branches 9 are regularly angularly distributed around the core 2.
[0025] Preferably, the branches are regularly angularly distributed around the ring 11.
[0026] In the embodiment illustrated in figures 1 to 6 , the three branches are thus spaced regularly around the main direction X with an angular space substantially equal to 120° angle.
[0027] Advantageously, the movable element 5 can thus move according to an angular displacement relative to the core 2 in directions transverse to the main direction.
[0028] Advantageously, the ring 11 makes it possible to connect the branches 9 together so as to form a solid assembly (the mobile element 5) in which a movement of one zone (one of the branches 9, for example) causes the movement of another zone (another of the branches 9, for example). In other words, the ring 11 makes it possible to make the movement of one of the branches 9 dependent on the movement of another or other branches 9.
[0029] The branches 9 remain attached to each other thanks to the ring 11.
[0030] The angular movement relative to the core 2 is induced, for example, during the application of the cosmetic product, by the resistance between the cosmetic product and the surface to be made up or even during the exit and / or entry of a container 13 containing the cosmetic product.
[0031] Advantageously, the ring is optimally sized to allow angular movement of the movable element 5 and to operate with a neck or opening orifice 14 of the container 13.
[0032] Advantageously, the branches 9 are connected to the core 2 by only one of their ends.
[0033] In the embodiment illustrated in figures 1 to 6 , the movable element 5 is thus free from any contact with the core 2 with the exception of one end, here the distal end 5b.
[0034] The three branches 9 are separated by three longitudinal openings 15 of elongated shape along the direction of extension X of the core 2 and form a wall around the core 2.
[0035] Advantageously, the openings 15 are regularly angularly distributed around the core 2.
[0036] In the embodiment illustrated in figures 1 to 6, the three openings 15 are thus regularly spaced around the main direction X with an angular space substantially equal to 120° angle.
[0037] The movable element 5 thus has the shape of an elongated ogive in a direction substantially coaxial with the main direction X and envelops the core 2 over its entire length.
[0038] The protrusions 7.1 of the core 2 project through the openings 15 and each of the branches 9 also comprises protrusions 7.2 so that longitudinal rows of protrusions 7.2 of the movable element 5 alternate with longitudinal rows of protrusions 7.1 of the core 2.
[0039] The applicator 1 thus comprises movable protrusions 7.2 arranged on the panels 9 of the movable element 5 and fixed protrusions 7.1 arranged on the core 2.
[0040] The presence of the movable element 5 makes it possible to have an applicator 1 having a voluminous external envelope E, but whose central core 2 has a restricted diameter which improves its flexibility and thus its flexibility of use.
[0041] The envelope E is formed by free ends 72 of the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 arranged on the core and the movable element 5.
[0042] The envelope E here has a generally circular cross-section.
[0043] The fact that one end 5a, 5b of the movable element 5 is free to move relative to the core 2 allows homogeneous movement along the entire length of the movable element 5 when pressure is exerted, which results in better distribution and / or better expulsion of the cosmetic product along the core 2. The eyelashes can be enveloped in a maximum of cosmetic product, which increases the volume effect.
[0044] The movable element 5 allowing better homogeneity of the cosmetic product along the core 2, it is then possible, advantageously, to reduce the length of the protuberances 7.1, 7.2 so as to promote combing.
[0045] The movement of the movable element 5 thus advantageously makes it possible to vary the length of the portion of the protuberances 7.1 emerging from the opening 15. Thus, with the same applicator, depending on the position of the movable element 5 relative to the core 2, it is possible to have the impression of using an applicator with long protuberances (advantageous for loading with cosmetic product) or short protuberances (advantageous for combing the eyelashes).
[0046] Apart from one end of the movable element 5, the remainder is located radially at a distance d from said core 2 so as to form a reservoir volume V.
[0047] In other words, it is possible to store cosmetic product in the space radially between the movable element 5 and the core 2, that is to say between an internal surface 5i of the movable element 5 and an external surface 2e of the core 2.
[0048] The distance d can thus vary, in particular decrease, when pressure is applied to the movable element 5, as illustrated in figure 3 This radial movement causes the expulsion of the cosmetic product stored in the reservoir volume V.
[0049] Advantageously, the openings 15 can also serve as a reservoir for the cosmetic product.
[0050] Here again, the movement of the movable element 5 makes it possible to make the stored cosmetic product more or less available.
[0051] When the movable element 5 is close to the core 2, the cosmetic product is easily available and can be returned to the eyelashes. Conversely, when the movable element 5 is far from the core 2, the cosmetic product is less available and the protrusions 7.1 of the core 2 are then used, for example, for combing the eyelashes.
[0052] In the embodiment shown in figures 1 to 6 , the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 project from the core 2 and the movable element 5, in particular from the external surfaces of the branches 9, in a direction substantially normal to the main direction X, called the radial direction.
[0053] By “the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 project from the core 2 and the movable element 5 in a direction substantially normal to the main direction X”, we mean protrusions 7.1, 7.2 which project in a plane comprising the main direction X and a radial direction of the direction X. In other words, the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 may be inclined, in this plane, towards the proximal and / or distal end, without departing from the scope of the invention.
[0054] In other embodiments not shown, the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 may have an inclination. They may, for example, protrude from the core 2 at an angle with the main direction X other than 90°. In other words, the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 may be inclined towards the distal end 2a of the core 2 or inclined towards the proximal end 2b of the core 2. Any other inclination may also be possible. The protrusions 7.1, 7.2 may also have a different inclination relative to each other.
[0055] The protrusions 7.1, 7.2 extend from an end 71 secured to the core 2 or to the movable element 5 towards the free end 72 in a direction of elongation so as to define a length.
[0056] The term “length” of the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 is understood to mean the length measured between the radial periphery of the core 2 or of the movable element 5 and the free distal end 72 of the protrusion 7.1, 7.2. In other words, the term “length” of the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 is understood to mean their radial extension measured from the base of the protrusion 7.1, 7.2, in projection onto a plane orthogonal to the main direction X.
[0057] In the embodiment shown, the protrusions 7.1, projecting from the core 2 and the protrusions 7.2 projecting from the branches 9 of the movable element 5 have different lengths so that the distance between the center of the core 2 and the free end 72 of the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 included in the same plane transverse to the main axis X is substantially identical.
[0058] On the other hand, the distance between the center of the core 2 and the free end 72 of the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 decreases towards the proximal 1b and distal 1a ends of the applicator 1 so as to form a bullet-shaped envelope E. The envelope E has a maximum diameter DE at the center of the length of the core 2. The bullet-shaped envelope E facilitates in particular the insertion of the applicator 1 through the neck or the opening orifice 14 of the container 13 containing the cosmetic product and the application of the cosmetic product to the inner corner of the eye.
[0059] In other embodiments not shown, the distance between the center of the core 2 and the free end 72 of the protuberances 7.1, 7.2 can vary so as, for example, to form an envelope of substantially cylindrical shape or of original shape having convex and / or concave zones.
[0060] In the embodiment illustrated in figures 1 to 6, the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 have a quadrilateral cross-section, in particular square, of identical size and shape over their entire length.
[0061] It is also conceivable in an embodiment not shown that the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 have a cross-section whose dimension is greater in the vicinity of the end 71 than in the vicinity of the free end 72 of the protrusion 7.1, 7.2. In other words, the cross-section of the protrusion 7.1, 7.2 has a dimension which decreases from the end 71 towards the free end 72.
[0062] The core 2 may be solid or hollow without departing from the scope of the invention.
[0063] The core 2 here has a cross-section relative to the longitudinal direction X which is circular.
[0064] In embodiments not shown, the core 2 may also have a cross-section other than circular, without departing from the scope of the invention. The cross-section may thus be polygonal, such as triangular, or in the shape of a quadrilateral, or even in the shape of a cross, star or oblong. The core 2 is preferably of substantially constant cross-section from its proximal end 2b to its distal end 2a, at least up to a flared portion which may possibly be present at the distal end 2a of the core 2.
[0065] In the embodiment shown in figures 1 to 6, the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 projecting from the core 2 and the movable element 5 are arranged in three longitudinal rows R1 of protrusions 7.1 originating from the core 2 and in three longitudinal rows R2 of protrusions 7.2 originating from the movable element 5. Each of the rows R1, R2 is formed of five lines L1, L2 of protrusions 7.1, 7.2 parallel to the main axis X arranged in such a way that the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 form two lines which intersect at a common protrusion.
[0066] It is also conceivable, in other embodiments not shown, that each of the rows is a single line of protuberances 7.1, 7.2 parallel to the main direction X or inclined relative to the main direction X, or that they wind helically around the core or any other possible arrangement.
[0067] The helical winding may be such that the angular offset is between 2 and 10°, preferably 5°, so that when viewed from the distal end, the protrusions appear to form a solid disc.
[0068] As other possible arrangements, the protrusions can for example be arranged so as to form a zigzag, or even a wave, that is to say be arranged on either side of the main axis X so as to form opposite ridges, or in other words so as to form alternately salient and re-entrant angles.
[0069] In other embodiments not shown, the protrusions 7.1, 7.2 projecting from the core 2 and the two branches 9 can be arranged randomly without forming longitudinal rows.
[0070] In a second embodiment illustrated in the figure 7 , the applicator 1 comprises two movable elements 5A, 5B.
[0071] Each of the movable elements 5A, 5B extends over a portion of the length of the core 2 from a first end 5aA, 5aB fixed to the core 2 to a second end 5bA, 5bB free to move relative to the core 2.
[0072] The first movable element, called distal movable element 5A, is connected to the core 2 by a first end 5aA fixed at the distal end 2a of the core 2. The movable element 5A extends in the direction of the proximal end 2b of the core 2 to the second end 5bA free to move relative to the core 2 which is located approximately at the center of the length of the core 2.
[0073] The second movable element, called proximal movable element 5B, is connected to the core 2 by a first end 5aB fixed at the proximal end 2b of the core 2. The movable element 5B extends in the direction of the distal end 2a of the core 2 to the second end 5bB free to move relative to the core 2 which is located approximately at the center of the length of the core 2.
[0074] In other words, each of the movable elements 5A, 5B faces each other symmetrically with respect to a plane P orthogonal to the main direction X. The two movable elements 5A, 5B are mirror images of each other. The two movable elements 5A, 5B thus form an ovoid-shaped structure like a cage around the core 2.
[0075] Each of the movable elements 5A, 5B is movable relative to the core 2 independently of one another. It is thus possible for only one of the two movable elements 5A, 5B to have an angular displacement relative to the core 2, while the other of the two movable elements 5B, 5A does not have any displacement. This provides an additional variety of makeup effects.
[0076] This embodiment differs from the first by the presence of two movable elements 5A, 5B which extend over only part of the core 2.
[0077] Each of the movable elements 5A, 5B is substantially similar to the movable element 5 described previously in the first embodiment.
[0078] Consequently, what is described previously for the first embodiment also applies to this second embodiment, adapting to the presence of two mobile elements 5A, 5B.
[0079] The reference signs of the first embodiment have been repeated. They are followed by the letter “A” with regard to the reference signs of the distal movable element 5A and they are followed by the letter “B” with regard to the reference signs of the proximal movable element 5B.
[0080] In another embodiment not shown, the two movable elements may be different from each other, in particular they may not be symmetrical. For example, one of the movable elements may extend over a length of the core greater than the length over which the other movable element extends.
[0081] Advantageously, the applicator 1 is a single monolithic part obtained without assembly. In other words, the applicator 1 is not obtained by assembly.
[0082] Assembly is understood here as the act of putting together, bringing together at least two isolated elements, but does not exclude the possibility of several stages.
[0083] It should also be noted that the applicator 1 advantageously forms a brush.
[0084] Preferably, the applicator 1 described above is obtained by an additive manufacturing process.
[0085] Additive manufacturing is a manufacturing process that involves adding material, usually using a computer. This manufacturing process is also known as three-dimensional printing or 3D printing.
[0086] Advantageously, the use of three-dimensional printing can make it possible to produce in a single step an applicator 1 in a single piece and in continuity of material comprising a core 2 and at least one movable element 5, 5A, 5B of which one end is fixed to the core 2 and the other is free to move relative to the core 2, each having protuberances 7.1, 7.2, 7.2A, 7.2B. Such an applicator 1 could prove very complex or even impossible to obtain, in particular in a single piece, by a conventional injection molding process. It is thus possible to produce, directly and by a single manufacturing operation, the applicator 1. In addition, this technique makes it possible to avoid the use of complex molds.
[0087] It may also be envisaged as an alternative embodiment that three-dimensional printing is used to form the core 2 with the sleeve 4 and / or the rod 3.
[0088] Various additive manufacturing technologies known to those skilled in the art can be used. In particular, these may include: fused deposition modeling (FDM, for Fused deposition modeling in English), selective laser melting (SLM for Selective Laser Melting in English), selective laser sintering (SLS for Selective Laser Sintering in English), electron beam fusion (EBM for Electron Beam Melting in English), stereolithography or photopolymerization (SLA for Stereolithography Apparatus in English), or Laminated Object Modeling (LOM for Laminated Object Manufacturing in English).
[0089] Preferably, these are sintering and / or stereolithography technologies.
[0090] The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing an applicator 1 as described above. The method comprises: a step of developing a digital model of the applicator 1; a step of manufacturing the applicator 1 using the digital model.
[0091] The digital model is a computer file that corresponds to a virtual model of the applicator 1. To obtain it, the applicator 1 is first modeled to obtain a CAD model which is then converted into a suitable format such as an .STL file. The file is then used on an additive manufacturing machine. When reading it, the digital model is cut into a number of layers depending on the desired precision. Preferably, the layers correspond to a cross-section of the applicator 1, that is to say a section of the applicator 1 taken in a plane perpendicular to the main direction X.
[0092] Suitable materials for manufacturing the applicator 1 by three-dimensional printing are polyamides, photosensitive resins, polylactic acid (PLA), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).
[0093] The invention also relates to an applicator assembly 16 for a cosmetic product, comprising the container 13 comprising a body 17 forming a reservoir intended to contain the cosmetic product (not shown), and an applicator 1, as described previously, adapted to be fixed to the container 13, so that the applicator 1 is housed inside the reservoir. The applicator 1 is fixed, for example, to a proximal end of the rod 3, itself fixed to a cap 18 advantageously screwed to the container 13.
[0094] Advantageously, the container 13 comprises a wringer 19 fixed inside the container 13, in particular in the neck or the opening orifice 14 of the container 13.
[0095] Preferably, the at least one movable element 5, 5A, 5B has a cross-section at the free end with a diameter smaller than an internal diameter of the wiper 19. The applicator 1 can thus enter and / or exit the container 13 without the at least one movable element 5, 5A, 5B being damaged when passing through the wiper 19.
[0096] Advantageously, the envelope E of the applicator 1 formed by the free ends 72 of the protuberances 7.1, 7.2, 7.2A, 7.2B has a cross-section of generally circular shape and the maximum diameter of which is substantially identical to the internal diameter of the wiper 19.
[0097] Advantageously, the ring 11 is optimally sized to allow angular movement of the movable element 5, 5A, 5B and to operate with the wiper 19.
[0098] Thus, the passage of the applicator 1 through the wiper 19 makes it possible to remove the excess cosmetic product but also to homogenize the distribution of the cosmetic product along the core 2 due to the freedom of movement of the movable element 5, 5A, 5B, in particular the angular movement.
[0099] Advantageously, the applicator assembly 16 can be obtained in whole or in part by three-dimensional printing.
