Abstract

EXCERPT The present invention concerns a method for manufacturing an air chamber as well as an air chamber for use in a compactable support layer, such as in a compactable mattress, which is usable on a base with an irregular shape for the purpose of providing compensation for this non-flat or irregular shape, and where the air chamber has a state of service and a compacted state, the air chamber, where: - in the state of service, a top wall with a substantially flat shape forms a substantially flat top of the air chamber, - inner ribs along the top side thereof are connected to the top wall by means of at least one connecting strip, - in the state of service, the bottom wall comprising at least two fixing zones and at least one transition zone,and where - the inner ribs along the underside thereof are connected to the bottom wall by means of at least one connecting strip, whereby at least one of the connecting strips is always arranged at a respective fastening zone.
