Abstract

This useful solution refers to a process for fabricating multilayer polymer nanofibers (4 layers) CPPCBR from chitosan (CS), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and polylactic acid (PLA) polymers, imbued with a mixture of three active ingredients: curcumin (Cur) extracted from turmeric (Curcuma longa), berberine (Ber) extracted from Coscinium fenestratum, and rotundin (Rot) extracted from Stephania sp., using electrospinning combined with gelatin as a binder, performed on a CHITEC 3D printer. CPPCBR multilayer polymer nanofibers are composed of non-toxic, biodegradable, and highly biocompatible polymers: chitosan, polyethylene glycol, and polylactic acid, bonded with a mixture of three active ingredients Cur / Ber / Rot (weight ratio 50:10:40), with a total content of 9% of the three active ingredients in the fiber. CPPCBR multilayer polymer nanofibers (4 layers) can carry four times more active ingredients and provide better release of active ingredients compared to single-layer nanofibers of the same composition. Furthermore, the multilayer structure of CPPCBR multilayer polymer nanofibers obtained from the utility solution process allows for slower and more stable release of the active ingredient compared to single-layer nanofiber structures.
