[0003] One of the major problems that most farmers face today is the excessive damage caused to the crops by the pests. Approximately, 20 to 40% of global crop production is lost to pests annually. It has been estimated that the amount of food that pests consume is sufficient to feed more than one billion people [Journal of Experimental Botany, Volume 62, Issue 10, June 2011, Pages 3251-3261], Therefore, pesticides including insecticides are heavily used to manage pests and dangerous insects that cause a massive harm to the crops.

[0004] Various pesticides and mixture of pesticides are known in the literature for pest control. However, extensive and prolonged use of various compositions having one or two pesticidal active ingredients has resulted in pest resistance. This has necessitated the application of more concentrated formulations, resulting in adverse effects on plant health, crop yield and also leads to increased costs. With the onset of resistance to certain pests, there is a need for combination of active ingredients that decreases chances of pest resistance and improves the spectrum of pest control and improved insecticidal activity.

[0005] CN102113516A discloses insecticidal composition comprising the combination two active ingredients, chlorantraniliprole and other selected from lambda cypermethrin, cyhalothrin, chlorpyrifos, profenofos, trichlorfon, emamectin benzoate, spinosad, tebufenozide, hexaflumuron, chlorfenapyr, pyridaben, acetamiprid, and cartap with mass ratio of the two ingredients being 1 :60 - 60: 1.

[0006] CN101703050A discloses insecticidal composition comprising chlorantraniliprole and at least one compound selected from organic phosphorus insecticide: chlorpyrifos, quinalphos, profenofos and triazophos. The composition can prevent and treat various crop such as the ice borer, rice planthopper, beet armyworm, diamondback moth.

[0007] There exists a need for improved insecticidal composition that is effective against insect pests of different crops and serves as a useful tool for managing resistance, has a broad spectrum, is environmentally safe, has a reduced dosage, stable over a long period of time for effective application on crops, and has a lower frequency of application than existing formulations.OBJECTIVES

[0008] An objective of the present invention is to provide a synergistic pesticidal composition having improved insecticidal activity.

[0009] A further objective of the present invention is to provide a pesticidal composition comprising chlorantraniliprole, chlorfenapyr, and at least one insecticide selected from group of cyano imidamides, meta diamides, isoxazolines, and oxadiazines.

[0010] Another obj ective of the present invention is to provide a method for preparation of the pesticidal composition.

[0011] Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide a pesticidal composition with a broad spectrum of insect control.

[0012] Still another objective of the present invention is to provide a pesticidal formulation that has good storage stability.

[0013] Some or all these and other objectives of the invention may be achieved by way of the invention described hereinafter.SUMMARY

[0040] A “dispersant”, also known as a dispersing agent, is a substance that adsorbs onto the surface of particles, preserving their dispersion and preventing them from reaggregating. Dispersants are added to an agrochemical composition to aid in particle dispersion and suspension during manufacturing, as well as to ensure particle re-disperse in water in a spray tank. They are a common ingredient in wettable powders, suspension concentrates, and water dispersible granules. Surfactants used as dispersants have the ability to adsorb strongly onto a particle surface and provide a charged or stearic barrier to re-aggregation of particles. The most commonly used surfactants are either anionic, nonionic, or combination thereof.

[0041] Dispersing agents may be selected from the group of, but not limited to, acrylic graft copolymer, alcohols, C9-n-iso-, Cio-rich, ethoxylated, tri styrylphenol ethoxylate phosphate ester, poly(oxy-l,2-ethanediyl), a-sulfo-co-[2,4,6-tris(l-phenylethyl)phenoxy]-, ammonium salt, poly (oxy- 1,2-ethanediyl), a-phosphono-co-2,4,6-tris(l- phenylethyljphenoxy-, alkoxylated alcohol, naphthalene and alkyl naphthalene sulphonic acids formaldehyde condensate, sodium salt. Non-ionic surfactants such as alkyl aryl ethylene oxide condensates and EO-PO block copolymers may be combined with anionic surfactants. In recent years, new types of very high molecular weight polymeric surfactants have been developed as dispersants. The synthetic polymer exhibits crystal growth inhibition properties. These have very long hydrophobic backbones and a large number of ethylene oxide chains forming the “teeth of a comb” surfactant. These high molecular weight polymers may give long-term stability to suspension concentrates because the hydrophobic backbones have many anchoring points onto the particle surfaces. Examples of dispersants used herein include but not limited to sodium lignosulphonates, poly aryl phenyl ether phosphate, tristyryl phenol ethylated / acrylic graft copolymer / ethoxylated tristryl phenol sulphate, naphthalene sulfonic acid, Sodium dibutylnaphthalenesulphonate, sodium salt condensate with formaldehyde, ethoxylated oleyl cetyl alcohol, polyalkelene glycol ether, ethoxylated fatty alcohol; and graft copolymers or mixtures thereof.

[0042] Examples of anti-freezing agent are polyethylene glycols, mono ethylene glycol, methoxy polyethylene glycols, glycol, propylene glycol, polypropylene glycols, poly butylene glycols, glycerin, ethylene glycol, di ethylene glycol or mixture thereof.

[0043] Suitable adjuvants are vegetable oil (plant, seed or tree) or it’s alkylated or ethoxylated or esterified; the alkylated vegetable oil may be methylated vegetable oil or ethylated vegetable oil; the vegetable oils include olive oil, kapok oil, castor oil, papaya oil, camellia oil, sesame oil, com oil, rice bran oil, cotton seed oil, soybean oil, groundnut oil, rapeseed oil, mustard oil, linseed oil, tung oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, coconut oil; the alkyl ester of vegetable oils, methyl ester, ethyl ester, propyl ester or butyl ester of vegetable oils, methylated seed oil, polyalkyleneoxide modified polydimethylsiloxane, alkylphenol ethoxylate, rapeseed oil methyl ester, rapeseed oil ethyl ester, rapeseed oil propyl esters, rapeseed oil butyl esters, soybean oil methyl ester, soybean oil ethyl ester, soybean oil propyl esters, soybean oil butyl esters, castor oil methyl ester, castor oil ethyl ester, castor oil propyl esters, castor oil butyl esters, cotton seed oil methyl ester, cotton seed oil ethyl ester, cotton seed oil propyl esters, cotton seed oil butyl esters, tall oil fatty acids esters, tallow methyl ester, bio-diesel, mineral oil (aromatic solvents, isoparaffin, base solvent), fatty acid amides (e.g. C1-C3 amines, alkylamines or alkanolamines with Ce- Cis carboxylic acids), fatty acids, alkyl esters of fatty acids, methyl and ethyl oleate, methyl and ethyl soyate, alkyl benzenes and alkylnapthalenes, polyalkylene glycol ethers, fatty acid diesters, fatty alkylamides and diamides, dialkylene carbonates, ketones and alcohols. The above oil-based adjuvant may be used as solo and mixture thereof.

[0044] Water-based formulations often produce foam during manufacturing processes. Anti-foam chemicals are frequently added during the manufacture stage or before filling into bottles to reduce the tendency to foam. Anti-foaming agents are classified into two types, silicones and non- silicones. Silicones are usually aqueous emulsions of dimethyl polysiloxane. Non-silicone anti- foam agents are water-insoluble oils such as octanol and nonyl, or silica. In both cases, the function of the anti-foam agent is to displace the surfactant from the air-water interface.

[0045] Defoam er / antifoaming agents are used in agrochemical formulations to prevent foaming during manufacturing and spraying stages. They are typically added to the composition, as foam prevents efficient container filling. Suitable anti -foaming agents may be selected from silicon emulsion based anti-foam agents, siloxane polyalkyleneoxide, trisiloxane ethoxylates, and mixtures thereof.

[0046] A wetting agent is a substance that, when added to a liquid, increases its spreading or penetrating ability by lowering the interfacial tension between the liquid and the surface it is spreading on. Wetting agents are used for two main functions in agrochemical formulations: during processing and manufacturing to increase the rate of wetting of powders in water to make concentrates for soluble liquids or suspension concentrates and hence improving the stability of suspension concentrates; and during mixing of a product with water in a spray tank or other vessel to reduce the wetting time of wettable powders and improve water penetration into water-dispersible granules. Wetting agents used in suspension concentrate, wettable powder, and water dispersible granule formulations include, but not limited to, sodium lauryl sulphate; sodium dioctylsulphosuccinate, alkyl phenol ethoxylates, and aliphatic alcohol ethoxylates or mixtures thereof.

[0047] Anti-microbial agents are used to eliminate or diminish the effect of microorganisms. Examples of anti-microbial agents agent include, but are not limited to, propionic acid and its sodium salt, sorbic acid and its sodium or potassium salts, benzoic acid and its sodium salt, p-hydroxy benzoic acid sodium salt, methyl p -hydroxy benzoate, and biocides such as sodium benzoate, 1,2-benzisothiazoline- 3-one, 2-methyl-4- isothiazolin-3-one, 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one, potassium sorbate, parahydroxybenzoates or mixtures thereof.

[0048] Thickeners, gelling agents, and viscosity modifier are commonly used in the formulation of suspension concentrates, emulsions, and suspoemulsions to alter the rheology or flow properties of the liquid and to avoid separation and settling of the dispersed particles or droplets. Thickening, gelling, and anti-settling agents are classified as either water-insoluble particles or water-soluble polymers. Clay and silicas may be used for preparing suspension concentrate compositions. These materials include, but are limited to, montmorillonite (e.g., bentonite), magnesium aluminum silicate, andattapulgite. For many years, water-soluble polysaccharides have been used as thickening, and gelling agents. Natural extracts of seeds and seaweed, as well as synthetic derivatives of cellulose or mixtures thereof, are the most often utilized polysaccharides. Guar gum, locust bean gum, Carrageenan, xanthan gum, alginates, methyl cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (SCMC), hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) or combination thereof are examples of these materials. Other anti-settling agents are based on modified starches, polyacrylates, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene oxide or any combination thereof. These auxiliaries can be added depending on the specific requirements of formulations.

[0049] In another embodiment of the present invention, the carriers may be selected from water, organic solvents, inorganic solvents or combination thereof. The carriers may be present in the “Quantum Satis", i.e., Q.S. quantity.

[0050] Stabilizers are used in agrochemical suspensions to prevent the active agrochemicals from crystallizing. Stabilizer can be a buffer. The buffer in the composition of the present invention comprises a mixture of potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydroxide, and Zinc Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Zn EDTA). The buffer aids in the preparation of a stable suspension concentrate formulation of the present invention. The buffer maintains the required suspensibility of active ingredients in the formulation and prevents the increase in particle sizes, thereby overcoming flowability and viscosity concerns.

[0051] The buffer in the composition of the present invention comprises 0.01 to 8 % potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 0.01 to 8 % sodium hydroxide, and 0.01 to 8 % Zn EDTA. [0077] “Synergism” [is] an interaction of two or more factors such that the effect when combined is greater than the predicted effect based on the response to each factor applied separately. If the observed response of the combination is greater than the expected (or predicted) response, or stated conversely, if the difference between the observed and expected response is greater than zero, then the combination is said to be synergistic or unexpectedly effective. (Colby, S.R., Weeds, 1967(15), p.20-22). The Colby method required only a single dose of each herbicide applied alone and the mixture of both doses. However, following formula was used to calculate the expected activity of mixtures containing three active ingredients, A, B and C:Expected (E)™where:A= observed efficacy of active ingredient A B = observed efficacy of active ingredient B C = observed efficacy of active ingredient CIf, Observed Value / Expected Value >1 = Good synergistic effect.Treatment Details:

PHYSIOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES AND STORAGE STABILITY OBSERVATIONS OF COMPOSITIONS

[0107] Physiochemical properties and storage stability data were recorded for compositions IE1, IE10, IE11, IE12, IE13, and IE14 of the present invention and the observations are in the tables below.

[0108] Table 3.1. Physiochemical Properties of Formulation IE1, IE10, IE11, andIE 12.

[0109] Table 3.2. Storage Stability Observation of Formulation IE1.*AHS is Accelerated Stability Test

[0110] Table 3.3. Storage Stability Observation of Formulation IE10.

[0111] Table 3.4. Storage Stability Observation of Formulation IE11.

[0112] Table 3.5. Storage Stability Observation of Formulation IE12.

[0113] Table 3.6. Analytical Observation of Formulations IE13 and IE14.*n.m. - not measured

[0114] The data collated in the above tables show that the buffer (comprising potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydroxide, and Zn EDTA) has improved the storage stability of the present composition. The SC Formulations IE13 and IE14 prepared without the buffer showed a decrease in the suspensibility of chlorfenapyr, ranging from 94% to 50%, which posed challenges in achieving stabilization. A decrease in suspensibility indicates that theactive ingredient is less well-distributed in the suspension, which leads to uneven application, and hence can result in poor performance of the product.

[0115] Formulation IE13 in Table 3.6 displayed increased particle size, resulting in decreased flowability and high viscosity. Low flowability makes the suspension difficult to handle and mix and high viscosity adversely affects the ease of application and potentially causing issues with spraying or spreading the product. Formulation IE14 has issues such as the formation of hard cakes (Table 3.6). Hard cake formation indicates that the suspension is not maintaining a consistent flow and is prone to clumping. This can make it difficult to mix or use the product, leading to uneven application. Further, hard cake formation suggests instability in the formulation and a sign of improper grinding or dispersion, which affects the overall stability of the product.

[0116] Additionally, crystallization issues were observed within four days of conducting the Accelerated stability tests (AHS) test for formulation IE14 (Table 3.6). Crystallization can affect the uniformity of the active ingredient, leading to inconsistent efficacy. Crystals may alter the intended release profile or activity of the active ingredient. The formation of crystals is a sign of instability in the formulation, which may compromise the overall product quality. AHS conducted over 14 days indicated that the active ingredients remained stable for formulation IE13; however, particle size increased, which adversely affects flowability of the SC formulation.

[0117] To address these challenges with Suspension Concentrates, a buffer comprising potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydroxide, and Zn EDTA is incorporated in the composition of the present invention. The inclusion of zinc EDTA not only contributes to formulation stability but also helps in crop greening effect and improving the overall crop health. A robust and stable formulation is achieved by carefully balancing the suspensibility of active ingredients and optimizing particle sizes through addition of the buffer, thereby overcoming flowability and viscosity concerns. These favorable parameters such as smaller particle sizes and lower viscosity can be observed for IE1, IE10, IE11, and IE12 in Tables 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, and 3.5, respectively. Further, crystallization issues have been effectively mitigated. This approach significantly improves application effectiveness and offers distinct advantages in agricultural practices.

[0118] Further, the analytical parameters were also recorded for Water Dispersible Granules (WG) IE15 of the present invention. Details are in the below tables.

[0120] Although the disclosure of compositions has been described in connection with the embodiment of the present disclosure illustrated in the accompanying examples, it is not limited thereto. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various substitutions, modifications and changes may be made thereto without departing from the scope and spirit of the disclosure.
