Abstract
Techniques are described for performing random access. An example wireless communication method includes receiving, by a communication device, a configuration associated with an additional physical random access channel (PRACH) resource; and receiving, by the communication device, a message scrambled using a random-access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI), where the RA-RNTI is a function of variables that includes a value associated with the additional PRACH resource being enabled.
