Abstract

A clothing treatment apparatus is disclosed. The clothing treatment apparatus of the present disclosure comprises: a cabinet having an entrance at the front side thereof; a door coupled to the cabinet so as to open / close the entrance; a tub, which is arranged inside the cabinet, has an opening part allowing for communication with the entrance of the cabinet, and provides a space for accommodating water; a drum which is rotatably provided inside the tub and which provides a space in which laundry is accommodated; a driving unit for rotating the drum; a gasket, which connects the entrance of the cabinet to the opening part of the tub and has an inner side surface that provides a laundry entrance and exit passage; and a water supply unit for supplying water to the tub. The water supply unit can supply water to the tub up to a first water level that is higher than the lowest part of the inner side surface of the gasket. The driving unit can rotate the drum at a first rotating speed at which a centrifugal force applied to the laundry inside the drum by means of rotation of the drum is greater than the gravity applied to the laundry, in a state in which the water level of the tub is the first water level.
