Description
1 / 5 “ARRANGEMENT INTRODUCED IN A DIFFUSER-TYPE FLOW DIRECTOR APPLIED IN AERATORS, MIXERS AND AGITATORS”
[01] This utility model application discloses an arrangement introduced in a diffuser-type flow director, applied in aerators, mixers and agitators, such as those used in tanks or reservoirs of suspended solids and / or fibers, wastewater treatment plants, among other applications, said diffuser being a static assembly intended to act as a bearing for the extended shaft end of the assembly, to increase the rigidity of the rotating assembly, prevent misalignment and reduce vibration caused by mechanical shock, which could affect the face of the mechanical seal, causing contamination of the fluid that cools the electric motor of aerators, mixers and agitators.
[02] The operating principle is to use the diffuser-type flow directing assembly installed after the rotor of the equipment, to create a bearing-type support region to increase the rigidity of the aerator shaft against mechanical shocks from suspended solids, fibers and other substances present in the fluid pumped by the rotor.
[03] This bearing consists of a fixed bushing that houses Teflon gaskets and receives an elongated shaft from the aerator rotor, for better load distribution, preventing premature wear of the equipment due to unwanted vibrations. DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE OF THE ART
[04] Several pumping systems are known in the current art where there are solids in suspension, excess fibers, which cause instability, vibration and mechanical shocks in the assembly. Petition 870230020811, dated 10 / 03 / 2023, page 5 / 18 2 / 5 rotating part of the equipment.
[05] Typically, to exemplify known equipment, the wastewater treatment system uses aerators to produce aerobic bacteria that aid in the degradation of the organic load present in the wastewater treatment, however the lagoon or tank where this wastewater is stored is not always equipped with an efficient screening system that retains suspended solids. As a result, all suspended solids are carried to the pumping area, often causing failures in bearings, mechanical seals and other internal components.
[06] Most equipment currently on the market lacks structural rigidity in relation to the bearing between shaft diameter and end length. As a result, load distribution on the rotating shaft ends up being inefficient, causing unwanted vibrations, imbalances or even premature component failure.
[07] The device mentioned in this report aims to present such a solution. MODEL OBJECTIVES
[08] With the aim of innovation, to solve the drawbacks of the current technique, the author of this patent developed the present “DISPOSITION INTRODUCED IN DIFFUSER TYPE FLOW DIRECTOR APPLIED IN AERATORS, MIXERS AND AGITATORS” where its particularity and innovation is to add a bearing behind the rotor to increase the rigidity of the shaft against mechanical shocks from suspended solids, fibers, among others present in the pumped fluid.
[09] To provide better load distribution in the region behind the rotor, the aerator shaft is extended after the rotor and supported on Petition 870230020811, dated 10 / 03 / 2023, page 6 / 18 3 / 5 a bushing with added Teflon gaskets that provide damping and even load distribution for the assembly.
[010] Furthermore, the present model reveals the use of a sacrificial sleeve between the bushing with Teflon gaskets and the rotor shaft, to absorb wear and avoid premature maintenance or replacement of the rotor shaft due to wear caused by friction. DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
[011] The subject of this application will be better characterized based on the attached figures, in which:
[012] Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view of the diffuser-type flow deflector of the present model, revealing the bearing assembly formed by a bushing and Teflon-coated gaskets;
[013] Figure 2 is an enlarged detail view B, taken from Figure 1, which reveals the enlarged Teflon bushing and gaskets, for a better understanding of the object of the present model;
[014] Figure 3 is a perspective view of the diffuser of the present model;
[015] Figure 4 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the diffuser of the present model installed in an aerator, mixer or agitator, revealing the use of an extended shaft of the equipment;
[016] Figure 5 is an exploded perspective view of the diffuser and agitator assembly, revealing components such as the rotor, electric motor and extended shaft. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE MODEL
[017] According to figures 1 to 3, the diffuser-type flow director (1) applied in aerators, mixers and agitators, which is the subject of this patent application, has novelty, particularity and Petition 870230020811, dated 10 / 03 / 2023, page 7 / 18 4 / 5 innovation add a bearing-type support point behind the rotor (5) to increase the rigidity of the shaft (6) against mechanical shocks from suspended solids, fibers and other substances present in the pumped fluid.
[018] As can be seen in figures 1 and 2, the diffuser-type flow director (1) has a fixed cylindrical bushing (2), which acts as a seat for Teflon-coated gaskets (3) equally distributed along the length of the cylindrical bushing (2), said diffuser-type flow director (1) being mounted on the structure of an aerator, mixer or agitator (4), and housing a rotor (5) of the agitator equipment (4) inside, as better demonstrated in figure 4.
[019] Said bushing (2) receives the shaft (6) of the agitator rotor (5) (4), said shaft (6) being elongated in order to be supported and rotate internally to the bushing (2) of the diffuser type flow director (4).
[020] As can be seen in Figure 4, with the flow director (1) mounted on the aerator (4), a diameter-to-length ratio is observed between the rotor (5) and radial bearing (7). Equipment with an excessively high diameter-to-length ratio may suffer from instability and lack of rigidity of the rotating assembly, becoming susceptible to mechanical failures. Therefore, the theory known as rotating assembly stiffness is applied, which is nothing more than the ability to resist radial loads to minimize shaft deflection (6), especially in the region of the mechanical seal (10). Decreasing this ratio, also known as L3 / D4, increases the rigidity of the rotating assembly, decreasing shaft deflection (6) in case of mechanical shocks, a fact added to the relationship between rotor (5) and shaft (6) as shown in Figure 4.
[021] Thus, with the rotor shaft (6) lengthened, the diameter-to-length ratio is reduced, with the consequent increase in the rigidity of the rotating assembly and the desired reduction in shaft deflection (6). Petition 870230020811, dated 10 / 03 / 2023, page 8 / 18 5 / 5 Consequently, a significant increase in the assembly's ability to withstand radial loads is achieved.
[022] Also in figure 4, a sacrificial sleeve (8) is mounted on the end of the shaft (6) and is housed between said shaft (6) and the cylindrical bushing (2) of the diffuser-type flow director (1), the locking of the rotating assembly being done by a screw (9) on the end of the elongated shaft (6).
[023] Figure 5 shows the assembly of the sacrificial sleeve (8) with a certain hardness to withstand wear, avoiding maintenance or replacement of the shaft due to wear caused by friction. Petition 870230020811, dated 10 / 03 / 2023, page 9 / 18
