[0002] The present disclosure relates generally to compositions, including, but not limited to, cosmetic or therapeutic compositions. More specifically, the present disclosure describes compositions for application to hair and / or skin. BACKGROUND
[0003] Compositions are often used in the hair and beauty industries. In some applications, compositions may be used to treat, protect, or otherwise enhance keratinous tissue, such as, e.g., hair or skin. To treat hair, compositions including various components may be applied in various formulations. Such compositions are used to strengthen and / or fortify hair, e.g., by hydrating and / or softening the hair, improving length retention of the hair, reducing breakage of the hair, reducing shedding of the hair, protecting hair from environmental aggressors and / or stress caused by brushing or styling, and / or delivering nutrients to support optimal hair follicle and scalp health, as well as to facilitate styling and / or hair appearance. However, providing a composition in a convenient formulation that may deliver one or more of the above-listed benefits can present challenges such as, e.g., maintaining a desired shelf life; excessive consumption or use when the composition is provided or stored in a liquid, gel, or paste form; and / or undesired or untimely drying out of the composition when provided or stored as a liquid, gel, or paste. [0004] The present disclosure includes compositions and related methods useful for treating keratinous materials, such as hair and / or skin.
[0005] In some aspects, the composition comprises one or more dairy milks, plant-based milks, or grains; one or more hair agents; one or more powdered carbohydrates; one or more amino acids; one or more carrier materials; and one or more additives. In some aspects, the one or more dairy milks, plant-based milks, or grains is present in an amount ranging from about 1% to about 70% by weight, relative to a total weight of the composition. Additionally or alternatively, the one or more hair agents may be present in an amount ranging from about 0.01% to about 20% by weight, relative to a total weight of the composition. [0006] In some examples, the one or more amino acids of the composition may include alanine, beta-alanine, arginine, asparagine, aspartic acid, citrulline, cysteine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, histidine, hydroxyproline, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, nitroarginine, 3-nitrotyrosine, norleucine, ornithine, phenylalanine, proline, pyroglutamatic acid, pyrrolysine, selenocysteine, serine, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine, valine, an L-enantiomer thereof, or a combination thereof.
