Technical Field

[0003] The following relates generally to wireless communications, and more particularly to group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communications. Background Art

[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasting, etc. These systems can support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems, such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, advanced LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems, and fifth generation (5G) systems, which may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems. These systems may employ techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include multiple base stations or network access nodes, each of which simultaneously supports communication with multiple communication devices, which may be referred to as user equipment (UE).

[0005] Some wireless communication systems may support confirmation feedback to indicate whether a wireless device (e.g., UE) successfully decoded a downlink message (i.e., data transmission), where the downlink message decoding is based on one or more detected downlink control messages (e.g., downlink grant or downlink control information (DCI)). In deployments supporting shared or unlicensed radio spectrum (e.g., unlicensed NR), one or more downlink messages may not be correctly received (e.g., due to hidden interfering nodes), and the wireless device may not provide confirmation feedback based on all downlink control messages. In addition, in some cases, when the medium is occupied by another transmitter (e.g., when a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure fails), the wireless device (e.g., UE) may not be able to send confirmation feedback. Therefore, techniques to enhance system performance in situations where one or more transmissions may not be issued or received are desirable. Summary of the invention

[0006] The described technology relates to improved methods, systems, devices and apparatuses for supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback for wireless communications. In various aspects, group-based feedback can be provided, wherein a user equipment (UE) can send acknowledgment feedback (e.g., hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback) for multiple downlink transmissions in a single uplink communication. In some cases, two or more different groups of downlink transmissions can each have associated group-based acknowledgment feedback. In some cases, a base station can send downlink control information to the UE, which downlink control information indicates one or more parameters for determining which downlink transmissions will be reported in the group-based feedback. Based on the parameters in the downlink control information, the UE can determine the feedback to be reported and the timing of sending the feedback to the base station.

[0007] In some cases, multiple instances of downlink control information may be used to determine feedback to be reported by a UE, and the various techniques discussed herein may be used when one or more parameters (e.g., a new confirmation feedback indicator (NFI) indicating that a downlink allocation indicator (DAI) counter is reset) change values in multiple instances of downlink control information. In some cases, the various techniques discussed herein provide that one or more instances of downlink control information may provide parameters for multiple different groups of downlink transmissions (e.g., NFI, DAI, or both may be provided for each of two groups of downlink transmissions). In some aspects of the present disclosure, the downlink control information may indicate a request for feedback for downlink transmissions for multiple different groups, and feedback for multiple groups may be appended together and sent to a base station.

[0008] In a further aspect of the present disclosure, a downlink control information format may be associated with group-based feedback transmission and may include one or more parameters for group-based feedback. In some cases, a fallback downlink control information format may also be used to indicate group-based feedback transmission, and parameters associated with group-based feedback may be determined based on other parameters that may be reused in the fallback DCI, may be set to a predetermined value, or a combination thereof.

The code may include instructions executable by a processor to perform the following: receive a first downlink control information transmission from a base station, the first downlink control information transmission providing a first set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters, wherein the first set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters include a first set of indicators for a first group of downlink transmissions and a first feedback timing, the first feedback timing indicating that a first uplink transmission will include a first group-based acknowledgment feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions; receive a second downlink control information transmission from the base station, the second downlink control information transmission providing a second set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters, wherein the second set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters include a second set of indicators for a second group of downlink transmissions and a second feedback timing, the second feedback timing indicating that the first uplink transmission will include one or more of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback or the second group-based acknowledgment feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions; and determine that the first uplink transmission will include both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback based on the first feedback timing and the second feedback timing.

[0045] In some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters are the same as the second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters.

[0046] Some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein may also include operations, features, components, or instructions for performing the following: receiving one or more downlink transmissions of the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions; determining a first group-based confirmation feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions and a second group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions; and sending the first group-based confirmation feedback and the second group-based confirmation feedback to the base station in the first uplink transmission.

[0047] In some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, neither the first set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters nor the second set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters includes an explicit indication of requesting feedback for another set of downlink transmissions.

[0048] In some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the determining may also include operations, features, components, or instructions for determining that both the first feedback timing and the second feedback timing indicate the same uplink transmission time slot.

[0049] In some examples of the methods, apparatuses, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the determination may also include operations, features, components, or instructions for performing the following: identifying a first request field value in the first group of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters indicating a request for only the first group of downlink transmissions, and a second request field value in a subsequent downlink control information transmission associated with the first group of downlink transmissions indicating a request for both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions; and determining based on the second request field value that the first uplink transmission will include both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback. In some examples of the methods, apparatuses, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the most recently received request field value is used to determine whether the first uplink transmission includes both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0050] In some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, it is not expected that the UE receives different downlink control information transmissions that schedule downlink transmissions in different downlink transmission groups and point to the same transmission time of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0051] In some examples of methods, apparatuses, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, when an initially received request field value indicates that the first uplink transmission will include both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback, and a subsequently received request field value indicates that only one of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback or the second group-based acknowledgment feedback will be provided with the first uplink transmission, the UE aborts the group-based acknowledgment feedback determination for the first uplink transmission. In some examples of methods, apparatuses, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, when at least one of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters or the second group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters indicates a request for both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions, the UE sends the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0052] Some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein may also include operations, features, components, or instructions for performing the following: receiving one or more downlink transmissions of the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions; determining a first group-based confirmation feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions and a second group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions; formatting the first group-based confirmation feedback and the second group-based confirmation feedback into a combined feedback report; and sending the combined feedback report to the base station in the first uplink transmission.

[0053] In some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the formatting may include operations, features, components, or instructions for performing each of the following: appending the second group-based confirmation feedback to the first group-based confirmation feedback based on an index value of a first group index of the first group-based confirmation feedback being lower than a second group index of the second group-based confirmation feedback.

[0054] In some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the formatting may include operations, features, components, or instructions for performing the following: appending the second group-based acknowledgment feedback to the first group-based acknowledgment feedback based on a request to receive the second group-based acknowledgment feedback in downlink control information associated with the first group transmission.

In some examples of the methods, apparatuses, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the second downlink control information format is a fallback downlink control information format.

[0060] In some examples of the methods, apparatus, and non-transitory computer-readable media described herein, the first subset of information fields includes one or more of a group indicator field, a new acknowledgment feedback indicator field, or a request field indicating a request for acknowledgment feedback for one or more of a plurality of different groups of downlink transmissions.

[0083] Various aspects of the description of the present disclosure relate to improved methods, systems, devices or apparatuses that facilitate feedback for transmission or retransmission, such as hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement / negative acknowledgement (ACK / NACK) feedback reporting. In some examples, the techniques described herein implement efficient group-based feedback reporting, wherein feedback for multiple different downlink transmissions can be provided by a user equipment (UE) to a base station in a wireless communication system. In some cases, two or more different groups of downlink transmissions can each have associated group-based acknowledgment feedback. In some cases, the base station can send downlink control information (DCI) to the UE, which indicates one or more parameters for determining which downlink transmissions will be reported in the group-based feedback. Based on the parameters in the DCI, the UE can determine the feedback to be reported and the timing of sending the feedback to the base station.

[0084] In some cases, multiple instances of a DCI may be used to determine feedback to be reported by a UE, and when one or more parameters (e.g., a new confirmation feedback indicator (NFI) indicating that a downlink allocation indicator (DAI) counter is reset) change values in multiple instances of a DCI that are each associated with the same group-based feedback report, the technology disclosed herein provides UE actions. In some cases, if two or more DCIs indicate the same uplink timeslot for group-based confirmation feedback transmissions and also have different NFI values, the UE may treat it as an error case and may not send the group-based confirmation feedback transmission. In other cases, the UE may consider that the NFI does not switch in the DCI and may use the majority rule among the NFI provided by the initial DCI, the last DCI, or the NFI value on the received DCI. In other cases, multiple feedback codebooks may be determined for the group downlink transmission for each instance of the NFI switching, and one or more of the multiple feedback codebooks may be sent as group-based confirmation feedback.

[0085] In some cases, various technical provisions discussed herein provide that one or more instances of DCI may provide parameters for multiple different groups of downlink transmissions (e.g., NFI, DAI, or both may be provided for each of two groups of downlink transmissions). In some cases, one or more DCI transmissions may include a first DAI value for a first downlink transmission group associated with the DCI (i.e., the DCI includes scheduling information for a first downlink transmission for the first downlink transmission group), and may include a second DAI value for a second downlink transmission group that does not have any downlink transmission scheduled by the DCI. In some cases, one or more DCIs may also include an NFI value associated with the first downlink transmission group and the second downlink transmission group. In such cases, the UE may update the DAI and NFI of the second group, and if feedback is requested for the second group, a feedback codebook is generated based on the DAI and NFI and the feedback is sent to the base station. In some cases, the DCI may include the DAI of the second group, but not the NFI of the second group, in which case the UE may assume that the NFI of the second group is equal to the previous NFI value of the second group.

[0086] In some aspects of the present disclosure, downlink control information may indicate a downlink transmission request feedback for multiple different groups, and feedback for multiple groups may be attached together and sent to a base station. In some cases, the request bit may be included in the DCI transmission, and may indicate whether feedback is requested only for the downlink transmission group associated with the DCI, or whether feedback is also requested for one or more other downlink transmission groups. In other cases, the request bit may not be included in the DCI transmission, and the UE may determine to request feedback for multiple groups based on multiple DCIs associated with different downlink transmission groups, and the different downlink transmission groups each indicate the same uplink transmission time (e.g., the same uplink time slot) for confirming feedback transmission. In some cases, when the request bit is included in the DCI, the UE may determine that the value of the request bit changes in different DCI transmissions. In such cases, the UE may use the value of the indicator of the latest DCI, or may determine that there is an error condition and feedback transmission is not sent. In some cases, if at least one DCI includes a request bit indicating a request for feedback to multiple groups, the UE may send feedback for multiple groups. In some cases, it may not be desirable for the UE to receive DCI that schedules downlink transmissions that belong to different downlink transmission groups and point to the same uplink transmission time for transmitting feedback reports, so the base station may be prohibited from transmitting such DCI. In the case of transmitting feedback reports for two or more downlink transmission groups, such as based on a group index of the downlink transmission group or based on which group is associated with the DCI requesting feedback (e.g., if the DCI is for a first group and feedback for a second group is also requested, feedback for the first group is determined and the feedback for the second group is appended to the feedback for the first group for transmission), the UE may append the codebooks for each group together for transmission.

[0087] In a further aspect of the present disclosure, a DCI format may be associated with group-based feedback transmission and may include one or more parameters for group-based feedback (e.g., DCI format 1_1). In some cases, a fallback DCI format (e.g., DCI format 1_0) may also be used to indicate group-based feedback transmission, and parameters associated with group-based feedback may be determined based on other parameters that may be reused in the fallback DCI, and may be set to a predetermined value or a combination thereof. In some cases, if group-based confirmation feedback is enabled at the UE (e.g., via radio resource control (RRC) signaling), and the UE receives a fallback DCI, one or more existing fields of the fallback DCI may be interpreted as providing group-based feedback parameters (e.g., based on a set of predefined rules). Additionally or alternatively, the UE may assume fixed values for one or more group-based feedback parameters. In other cases, a feedback report corresponding to a downlink transmission scheduled by a fallback DCI may be constructed separately from a feedback report corresponding to a downlink transmission scheduled by a non-fallback DCI.

[0088] In some cases, a first set of group-based DCI may be associated with a first feedback opportunity, a second set of fallback DCI may be associated with a second feedback opportunity, and a third set of group-based DCI may be associated with a third feedback opportunity. In such cases, the second feedback opportunity may include feedback only for non-group-based transmissions associated with the second set of fallback DCI, and the third feedback opportunity may include feedback for any transmission associated with the first set of group-based DCI or the third set of group-based DCI (but not for transmissions associated with the second set of fallback DCI). In some cases, the UE may assume that the NFI associated with the third set of group-based DCI switches relative to the NFI of the first set of group-based DCI. In other cases, the difference between the value of one or more NFIs of the first set of group-based DCI and the value of one or more NFIs of the third set of group-based DCI may be used to determine whether the NFI switches.

[0089] In some cases, the techniques discussed herein may be used in wireless communication systems that support communications in unlicensed spectrum (e.g., shared radio frequency spectrum bands), licensed spectrum, or a combination of licensed spectrum and unlicensed spectrum. In such systems, one or more transmissions may not be successfully received due to interference from hidden nodes, or may not be sent due to failure of a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure. Therefore, confirmation feedback may not include feedback for one or more missing feedback process IDs (e.g., due to interference, LBT failure, etc.). In such cases, group-based feedback reporting may be used, which allows the UE to send feedback for all feedback processes configured at the UE. Therefore, techniques such as those discussed herein may allow for effective confirmation feedback, which can help reduce latency and improve overall system throughput in wireless communication systems.

[0090] Various aspects of the present disclosure are first described in the context of wireless communication systems. Additional aspects of the present disclosure are then described with respect to several techniques for group-based acknowledgment feedback. Various aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow charts related to group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication.

[0091] Figure 1 An example of a wireless communication system 100 for supporting group-based acknowledgement feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 100 includes a base station 105, a UE 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a long term evolution (LTE) network, an advanced LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, or a new radio (NR) network. In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may support enhanced broadband communications, ultra-reliable (e.g., mission-critical) communications, low-latency communications, or communications with low-cost and low-complexity devices.

[0092] The base station 105 can communicate wirelessly with the UE 115 via one or more base station antennas. The base station 105 described herein may include or may be referred to by those skilled in the art as a base station transceiver, a radio base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB), a next generation NodeB or a giga-NodeB (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a home NodeB, a home eNodeB, or some other suitable term. The wireless communication system 100 may include different types of base stations 105 (e.g., macro cell base stations or small cell base stations). The UE 115 described herein is capable of communicating with various types of base stations 105 and network devices, including macro eNBs, small cell eNBs, gNBs, and relay base stations, etc.

[0093] Each base station 105 may be associated with a particular geographic coverage area 110 in which communications with various UEs 115 are supported. Each base station 105 may provide communications coverage for a respective geographic coverage area 110 via a communications link 125, and the communications link 125 between the base station 105 and the UE 115 may utilize one or more carriers. The communications link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include uplink transmissions from the UE 115 to the base station 105, or downlink transmissions from the base station 105 to the UE 115. Downlink transmissions may also be referred to as forward link transmissions, and uplink transmissions may also be referred to as reverse link transmissions.

[0094] The geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105 can be divided into sectors that constitute a portion of the geographic coverage area 110, and each sector can be associated with a cell. For example, each base station 105 can provide communication coverage for a macro cell, a small cell, a hotspot, or other type of cell, or various combinations thereof. In some examples, the base station 105 can be mobile and thus provide communication coverage for a mobile geographic coverage area 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies can overlap, and the same base station 105 or different base stations 105 can support overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous LTE / LTE-A / LTE-A Pro or NR network, in which different types of base stations 105 provide coverage for various geographic coverage areas 110.

[0095] The term "cell" refers to a logical communication entity used for communication with a base station 105 (e.g., via a carrier), and may be associated with an identifier (e.g., a physical cell identifier (PCID), a virtual cell identifier (VCID)) used to distinguish adjacent cells operating via the same or different carriers. In some examples, a carrier may support multiple cells, and different cells may be configured according to different protocol types that may provide access to different types of devices (e.g., machine type communication (MTC), narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), or other protocol types). In some cases, the term "cell" may refer to a portion (e.g., a sector) of a geographic coverage area 110 on which the logical entity operates.

[0096] UE 115 may be dispersed throughout the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be fixed or mobile. UE 115 may also be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable term, where "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client. UE 115 may also be a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may also refer to a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or an MTC device, etc., and the UE may be implemented in various articles such as electrical appliances, vehicles, meters, etc.

[0097] Some UEs 115, such as MTC or IoT devices, may be low-cost or low-complexity devices and may provide automated communication between machines (e.g., via machine-to-machine (M2M) communication). M2M communication or MTC may refer to data communication technology that allows devices to communicate with each other or with a base station 105 without human intervention. In some examples, M2M communication or MTC may include communications from devices that integrate sensors or meters to measure or capture information and relay the information to a central server or application that may utilize the information or present the information to humans interacting with the program or application. Some UEs 115 may be designed to collect information or implement automated behavior of machines. Examples of applications for MTC devices include smart metering, inventory monitoring, water level monitoring, equipment monitoring, healthcare monitoring, wildlife monitoring, weather and geological event monitoring, fleet management and tracking, remote security sensing, physical access control, and transaction-based service billing.

[0098] Some UEs 115 may be configured to employ a reduced power consumption mode of operation, such as half-duplex communication (e.g., a mode supporting unidirectional communication via transmission or reception but not simultaneous transmission and reception). In some examples, half-duplex communication may be performed at a reduced peak rate. Other power saving techniques for UE 115 include entering a power saving "deep sleep" mode when not engaged in active communication, or operating over a limited bandwidth (e.g., in accordance with narrowband communication). In some cases, UE 115 may be designed to support critical functions (e.g., mission critical functions), and the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to provide ultra-reliable communication for these functions.

[0099] In some cases, UE 115 can also communicate directly with other UE 115 (e.g., using peer-to-peer (P2P) or device-to-device (D2D) protocols). One or more of a group of UEs 115 utilizing D2D communication may be within the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105. Other UEs 115 in the group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105, or may not be able to receive transmissions from the base station 105 for other reasons. In some cases, multiple groups of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system, in which each UE 115 transmits to each other UE 115 in the group. In some cases, the base station 105 facilitates the scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed between UEs 115 without the involvement of the base station 105.

[0100] The base stations 105 may communicate with the core network 130 and with each other. For example, the base stations 105 may interface with the core network 130 via a backhaul link 132 (e.g., via S1, N2, N3, or other interfaces). The base stations 105 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., directly between the base stations 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130) via a backhaul link 134 (e.g., via X2, Xn, or other interfaces).

[0101] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC), which may include at least one mobility management entity (MME), at least one serving gateway (S-GW), and at least one packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW). The MME may manage non-access stratum (e.g., control plane) functions such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management for UE 115 served by a base station 105 associated with the EPC. User IP packets may be delivered through the S-GW, which itself may be connected to the P-GW. The P-GW may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The P-GW may be connected to a network operator IP service. Operator IP services may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), or a packet switched (PS) streaming service.

[0102] At least some network devices, such as base stations 105, may include subcomponents, such as access network entities, which may be examples of access node controllers (ANCs). Each access network entity may communicate with UE 115 through multiple other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmit / receive points (TRPs). In some configurations, the various functions of each access network entity or base station 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and access network controllers), or merged into a single network device (e.g., base station 105).

[0103] The wireless communication system 100 can operate using one or more frequency bands typically in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Typically, because the length of the wavelength ranges from about one decimeter to one meter, the region of 300MHz to 3GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band. Buildings and environmental features may block or redirect UHF waves. However, the waves can penetrate the structure sufficiently so that the macrocell provides services to the UE 115 located indoors. Compared with the transmission of smaller frequencies and longer waves using the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portion of the spectrum below 300MHz, the transmission of UHF waves can be associated with smaller antennas and shorter ranges (e.g., less than 100km).

[0104] The wireless communication system 100 may also operate in the Super High Frequency (SHF) region using a frequency band from 3 GHz to 30 GHz, also known as a centimeter band. The SHF region includes bands such as the 5 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band, which may be used by devices that can tolerate interference from other users.

[0105] The wireless communication system 100 may also operate in the extremely high frequency (EHF) region of the spectrum also referred to as the millimeter band (e.g., from 30 GHz to 300 GHz). In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support millimeter wave (mmW) communications between the UE 115 and the base station 105, and the EHF antennas of the corresponding devices may be smaller and more closely spaced than the UHF antennas. In some cases, this may facilitate the use of antenna arrays within the UE 115. However, the propagation of EHF transmissions may be affected by greater atmospheric attenuation and shorter distances than SHF or UHF transmissions. The technology disclosed herein may be employed across transmissions using one or more different frequency regions, and the designated use of bands across these frequency regions may vary from country to country or regulatory agency.

[0106] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 can utilize both authorized radio spectrum bands and unlicensed radio spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can adopt permission-assisted access (LAA), unlicensed LTE (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in unlicensed bands such as the 5GHz ISM band. When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, wireless devices such as base stations 105 and UE 115 can adopt a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure to ensure that the channel is idle before sending data. In some cases, operations in unlicensed bands can be based on a combination of carrier aggregation configuration and component carriers operating in a licensed band (e.g., LAA). Operations in unlicensed spectrum can include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, peer-to-peer transmissions, or a combination of these. Duplexing in unlicensed spectrum can be based on frequency division duplexing (FDD), time division duplexing (TDD), or a combination of both.

[0107] In some examples, the base station 105 or the UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication, or beamforming. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may use a transmission scheme between a transmitting device (e.g., a base station 105) and a receiving device (e.g., a UE 115), wherein the transmitting device is equipped with multiple antennas and the receiving device is equipped with one or more antennas. MIMO communication may employ multipath signal propagation to improve spectral efficiency by transmitting or receiving multiple signals via different spatial layers, which may be referred to as spatial multiplexing. Multiple signals may be transmitted, for example, by a transmitting device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Similarly, multiple signals may be received by a receiving device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Each of the multiple signals may be referred to as a separate spatial stream and may carry bits associated with the same data stream (e.g., the same codeword) or different data streams. Different spatial layers may be associated with different antenna ports for channel measurement and reporting. MIMO technology includes single-user MIMO (SU-MIMO) that transmits multiple spatial layers to the same receiving device and multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) that transmits multiple spatial layers to multiple devices.

[0108] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that can be used in a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a base station 105 or a UE 115) to shape or steer an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam or a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming can be achieved by combining signals communicated via antenna elements of an antenna array so that signals propagating in a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals communicated via antenna elements can include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying certain amplitude and phase offsets to signals carried via each of the antenna elements associated with the device. The adjustments associated with each of the antenna elements can be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device, or relative to some other orientation).

[0109] In some cases, the antennas of a base station 105 or a UE 115 may be located within one or more antenna arrays that support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located in an antenna assembly such as an antenna tower. In some cases, the antennas or antenna arrays associated with a base station 105 may be located in different geographic locations. A base station 105 may have an antenna array with rows and columns of multiple antenna ports that the base station 105 may use to support beamforming for communications with a UE 115. Likewise, a UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations.

[0110] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 can be a packet-based network that operates according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, the communication on the bearer or packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer can be IP-based. The radio link control (RLC) layer can perform packet segmentation and reorganization to communicate through logical channels. The media access control (MAC) layer can perform priority processing and multiplex logical channels into transport channels. The MAC layer can also use hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) to provide retransmission in the MAC layer to improve link efficiency. In the control plane, the radio resource control (RRC) protocol layer can provide the establishment, configuration and maintenance of the RRC connection between the UE 115 and the base station 105 or the core network 130 that supports the radio bearer for user plane data. In the physical layer, the transport channel can be mapped to the physical channel.

[0111] The time interval in LTE or NR can be expressed as a multiple of the basic time unit, which can be, for example, T s=1 / 30,720,000 second sampling period. The time intervals of the communication resources may be organized according to radio frames each having a duration of 10 milliseconds (ms), where the frame period may be expressed as T f =307,200T s . A radio frame can be identified by a system frame number (SFN) ranging from 0 to 1023. Each frame can include 10 subframes numbered from 0 to 9, and each subframe can have a duration of 1 millisecond. The subframe can be further divided into 2 time slots, each time slot has a duration of 0.5 ms, and each time slot can contain 6 or 7 modulation symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of the cyclic prefix before each symbol period). In addition to the cyclic prefix, each symbol period can contain 2048 sampling periods. In some cases, a subframe can be the minimum scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 and can be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In other cases, the minimum scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 can be shorter than a subframe or can be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of a shortened TTI (sTTI) or in a selected component carrier using sTTI).

[0112] In some wireless communication systems, a time slot may be further divided into a plurality of mini-slots containing one or more symbols. In some instances, a symbol of a mini-slot or a mini-slot may be a minimum scheduling unit. For example, the duration of each symbol may vary depending on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band. In addition, some wireless communication systems may implement time slot aggregation, in which a plurality of time slots or mini-slots are aggregated together and used for communication between UE 115 and base station 105.

[0113] The term "carrier" refers to a collection of radio spectrum resources having a defined physical layer structure for supporting communications performed over the communication link 125. For example, a carrier of the communication link 125 may include a portion of a radio frequency spectrum that operates according to a physical layer channel for a given radio access technology. Each physical layer channel may carry user data, control information, or other signaling. A carrier may be associated with a predefined frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number (EARFCN)) and may be located according to a channel raster for discovery by a UE 115. A carrier may be a downlink or uplink (e.g., in FDD mode), or may be configured to carry downlink and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode). In some examples, a signal waveform transmitted over a carrier may be composed of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using a multi-carrier modulation (MCM) technique such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)).

[0114] The organization structure of the carrier can be different for different radio access technologies (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). For example, communication through the carrier can be organized according to TTIs or time slots, and each TTI or time slot can include user data and control information or signaling to support decoding of the user data. The carrier can also include dedicated acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals or system information, etc.) and control signaling to coordinate the operation of the carrier. In some examples (e.g., in a carrier aggregation configuration), the carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling to coordinate the operation of other carriers.

[0115] Physical channels may be multiplexed on a carrier according to various techniques. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed on a downlink carrier, for example, using a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. In some examples, control information sent in a physical control channel may be distributed in a cascaded manner between different control regions (e.g., between a common control region or common search space and one or more UE-specific control regions or UE-specific search spaces).

[0116] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of a radio frequency spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as the "system bandwidth" of the carrier or wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of a plurality of predetermined bandwidths of a carrier for a particular radio access technology (e.g., 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, or 80 MHz). In some examples, each serviced UE 115 may be configured to operate on part or all of the carrier bandwidth. In other examples, some UEs 115 may be configured to operate using a narrowband protocol type associated with a predefined portion or range (e.g., a set of subcarriers or RBs) within a carrier (e.g., an "in-band" deployment of a narrowband protocol type).

[0117] In a system using MCM technology, a resource element may consist of a symbol period (e.g., the duration of a modulation symbol) and a subcarrier, where the symbol period is inversely proportional to the subcarrier spacing. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme). Therefore, the more resource elements received by UE 115 and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate of UE 115. In a MIMO system, wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, time resources, and space resources (e.g., space layers), and the use of multiple space layers may further increase the data rate of communication with UE 115.

[0118] A device (e.g., base station 105 or UE 115) of wireless communication system 100 may have a hardware configuration that supports communication on a specific carrier bandwidth, or may be configured to support communication on one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, wireless communication system 100 may include base station 105 and / or UE 115 that supports simultaneous communication via carriers associated with more than one different carrier bandwidths.

[0119] The wireless communication system 100 may support communication with the UE 115 on multiple cells or carriers, a feature that may be referred to as carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. Depending on the carrier aggregation configuration, the UE 115 may be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation may be used with both FDD and TDD component carriers.

[0120] In some cases, UE 115 and base station 105 can support retransmission of data to increase the likelihood that the data is successfully received. HARQ feedback such as discussed herein is a technique to increase the likelihood of correctly receiving data through communication link 125. HARQ may include a combination of error detection (e.g., using cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). Under poor radio conditions (e.g., signal-to-noise ratio conditions), HARQ may improve throughput in the MAC layer. In some cases, a wireless device may support group-based acknowledgment feedback, in which HARQ feedback for one or more groups of downlink transmissions may be sent from UE 115 to base station 105 in a single uplink communication. Various techniques described herein implement efficient group-based acknowledgment feedback reporting, in which feedback for multiple different downlink transmissions may be provided to base station 105 by UE 115.

[0121] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 for supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the wireless communication system 200 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. The wireless communication system 200 can include a base station 105-a and a UE 115-a, which can be respectively as described in reference Figure 1 Examples of corresponding base stations 105 and UEs 115 are described.

[0122] As described herein, the base station 105-a and the UE 115-a may employ HARQ feedback techniques to indicate whether data has been correctly received at the UE 115-a. For example, the base station 105-a may send one or more downlink messages to the UE 115-a on the resources of the carrier 205. Thus, the UE 115-a may send an indication of whether one or more downlink messages are correctly received and decoded on the resources of the carrier 210. In some cases, the carriers 205 and 210 may be the same carrier. In some cases, the carriers 205 and 210 may be component carriers (CCs), and multiple different CCs may be used for communication between the UE 115-a and the base station 105-a. In some cases, the carriers 205 and 210 may use licensed spectrum, shared or unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof. When using unlicensed or shared spectrum, the UE 115-a and the base station 105-a may use contention-based access techniques (e.g., LBT procedures) to determine whether the channel is available before initiating transmission.

[0123] In this example, the base station 105-a may send a group-based feedback DCI 215 on the carrier 205, and the UE 115-a may respond with a feedback report 220 on the carrier 210. The group-based feedback DCI 215 may be included in a downlink or uplink grant (e.g., a downlink message such as a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission), or the UE 115-a may be explicitly triggered to send the feedback report 220 (e.g., in a separate DCI message). When the group-based feedback DCI 215 is present, the base station 105-a may instruct the UE 115-a to provide the feedback report 220 based on one or more group-based feedback parameters. For example, the base station 105-a may configure the UE 115-a for group-based feedback, and the UE 115-a may prepare and send the feedback report 220 based on the group-based feedback configuration.

[0124] In some cases, the wireless communication system 200 may operate in an NR system, which may allow the HARQ-ACK codebook to have two transmission modes, which may include a semi-static (e.g., type 1) mode and a dynamic (e.g., type 2) mode. The dynamic feedback mode may allow grouping of multiple downlink transmissions (e.g., PDSCH grouping for one or more physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) groups) by signaling a feedback parameter that provides a group identifier (e.g., a group index may be provided in a DCI scheduled PDSCH transmission). In some cases, such feedback parameters may include an indication of uplink transmission timing (e.g., a value of K1 indicating the number of time slots between the downlink transmission and the time slot that will include the feedback report 220). In some cases, a non-numeric value of uplink transmission timing (e.g., non-numeric K1) that may indicate that the feedback report 220 will be sent in response to a trigger event (e.g., a trigger from the base station 105-a). In the case of digital or non-digital uplink transmission timing, the number of feedback bits (e.g., HARQ ACK / NACK indications for downlink transport blocks (TBs) / code block groups (CBGs)) may vary between successive requests for acknowledgment feedback for the same downlink transmission group. In some cases, the feedback report 220 may carry feedback for each of a plurality of different downlink transmissions in the downlink transmission group in the same uplink transmission (e.g., the same physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission). Furthermore, in some cases, a single group-based feedback DCI 215 may request acknowledgment feedback for one or more downlink transmission groups in the same feedback report 220.

[0125] In some cases, the group-based feedback DCI 215 may include an indication of one or more downlink allocation indexes (DAIs) that may provide a counter of downlink allocations (e.g., TB or CBG downlink transmissions) to be reported in the feedback report 220. In some cases, the DAI may include a counter DAI (cDAI) that indicates the cumulative number of downlink transmissions within each downlink transmission group. In some cases, the cDAI may count up using a modulo four operation (e.g., a cDAI value may be provided using two bits, where the UE 115-a and the base station 105-a may determine the cDAI based on whether the bit is flipped due to the modulo operation). In some cases, the DAI may also include a total DAI (tDAI), which may indicate the total number of DAIs across multiple component carriers or downlink transmission groups, which may also use a modulo operation as discussed with respect to the cDAI. Thus, the tDAI may provide an indication of whether the UE 115-a may miss the DCI of the carrier. In some cases, the tDAI may be provided only for the scheduled downlink transmission group. In other cases, tDAI may be provided for each downlink transmission group, regardless of whether the DCI has scheduling information for the group. In some cases, the feedback parameters may also include a new confirmation feedback indicator (NFI) for each downlink transmission group, which may operate as a toggle bit that indicates that the DAI of the downlink transmission group will be reset when switched. In some cases, UE 115-a may provide a capability report to base station 105-a indicating the ability of the UE to support group-based confirmation feedback.

[0126] When providing feedback report 220, in some cases, UE 115-a can determine a feedback codebook to report to base station 105-a to indicate that an ACK / NACK for each associated downlink transmission (e.g., for each scheduled TB / CBG) is to be reported at an associated uplink transmission time. In some cases, the codebook can be based on a PDCCH monitoring opportunity (e.g., based on the configuration of different search space (SS) sets in different serving cells, as a union of the PDCCH monitoring opportunities for the active downlink bandwidth part (BWP) across the configured serving cells, arranged in ascending order of the start time of the SS sets associated with the PDCCH monitoring opportunity). If two SS sets (of the same or different serving cells) have the same start time, the start time is counted as one PDCCH monitoring opportunity. The feedback codebook can also be determined based on the DAI received via DCI transmission, where if no DCI is missed, the ACK / NACK bits received with the received PDSCH are placed in the codebook in the same order as the cDAI. If DCI is missed, the NACK will be placed in the codebook in the same order as the missed cDAI. In some cases, UE 115-a can determine whether DCI is missed by comparing consecutive cDAI values (for example, consecutive cDAI values 0, 1, 3 mean that DCI with cDAI value 2 is missed). In the case of sending tDAI, UE 115-a can determine whether DCI is missed by comparing tDAI with the cDAI of all DCIs in the same PDCCH monitoring opportunity (for example, for two serving cells in a given PDCCH monitoring opportunity, if only one DCI with (cDAI, tDAI) = (1, 2) is received, this means that the second DCI is missed). As indicated, UE 115-a can insert NACK for each missed DCI in feedback report 220 according to the order of DAI.

[0127] If you will refer to Figures 3 to 8 As discussed in more detail, in various examples, different group-based feedback parameters may be provided in one or more group-based feedback DCIs 215. Feedback reports 220 may include group-based acknowledgment feedback for one or more groups of downlink transmissions based on the group-based feedback parameters in accordance with various discussed techniques. In the case where feedback is provided for two or more groups of downlink transmissions, the feedback information may be multiplexed together in a single feedback report 220 in an uplink communication from a UE 115-a to a base station 105-a.

[0128] Figure 3An example of a feedback timeline 300 for supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the feedback timeline 300 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 or 200. In this example, a plurality of transmit time slots 305 are shown, including a first transmit time slot 305-a through a tenth transmit time slot 305-j. In some cases, transmissions using the transmit time slots 305 can use licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof.

[0129] In this example, a first DCI 310 may be sent in a first time slot 305-a, which may include downlink scheduling information for an associated PDSCH transmission 315 in the first time slot 305-a. In this example, the first DCI 310 may include a group-based feedback parameter including a timing value K1 provided in a PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator field, which indicates the number of time slots between the associated PDSCH and when the confirmation feedback is sent. In this case, K1 indicates that the associated confirmation feedback will be provided three time slots (e.g., K1=3) after the first time slot 305-a (e.g., in the fourth time slot 305-d). In this example, the first DCI 310 may also indicate a DAI value of 1 (DAI=1), which may correspond to a cDAI value indicating that the DAI causes the initial confirmation feedback indicator to be included in the confirmation codebook. In some cases, the first DCI 310 may also include a tDAI value (e.g., when downlink carrier aggregation is enabled), which is not shown in this example for simplicity. In this example, the first DCI 310 also indicates a group index (G) that identifies the associated downlink transmission group of the first DCI 310 and the associated PDSCH transmission 315. The first DCI 310 also includes a request indicator (R) that indicates whether feedback reports are requested only for the same group associated with the DCI (i.e., group 0) or for another group (e.g., R=0 indicates that only feedback for the same group is requested; R=1 indicates that feedback for another group is also requested). In this example, the first DCI 310 also includes NFI, which is a unit indicator associated with the group of the first DCI 310, and if switched, the unit indicator means that the corresponding group is reset (i.e., the DAI is reset, which implies that the previous HARQ-ACK feedback was correctly received by the base station).

[0130] exist Figure 3In the example of , the second DCI 320 may schedule a second PDSCH transmission 325 in the second time slot 305-b. In this example, the second DCI 320 includes a group-based feedback parameter K1=2 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the fourth time slot 305-d), DAI=2 (i.e., the next consecutive DAI count indicates that one or more DAIs are not missed), G=0 (i.e., for the same group as the first DCI 310 and the first PDSCH transmission 315), R=0 (i.e., no feedback is requested for another group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not been reset based on not switching from the previous DCI). In this example, the third time slot 305-c may not include any transmission associated with a particular UE, and the fourth time slot 305-d may include resources for uplink transmissions (i.e., PUCCH transmissions 330) for reporting group-based confirmation feedback.

[0131] As discussed herein, a UE receiving a downlink transmission of a downlink transmission group may format a feedback codebook 335 that includes bits associated with each DAI indicated in the received DAI field. Thus, in this example, the feedback codebook 335 includes an ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=1 of the first time slot 305-a, and a second ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=2 of the second time slot 305-b. In this example, the PUCCH transmission 330 may not be successfully received at the base station. For example, interference or low channel quality between the UE and the base station may have prevented the base station from successfully receiving and decoding the PUCCH transmission 330. In some cases, the UE and the base station may be operating in a shared or unlicensed spectrum, and the PUCCH transmission 330 may not be received because a contention-based channel access procedure that does not allow the UE to send the PUCCH transmission 330 is unsuccessful (e.g., the LBT procedure fails).

[0132] In this example, the base station may determine that the PUCCH transmission 330 was not successfully received, and therefore may maintain DCI parameters for group-based acknowledgment feedback in order to obtain feedback associated with the first time slot 305-a and the second time slot 305-b. In this example, in the fifth time slot 305-e, the base station may transmit a third DCI 340 for the associated third PDSCH transmission 345. In this example, the third DCI 340 includes group-based feedback parameters K1=2 (i.e., the associated acknowledgment feedback will be provided in the seventh time slot 305-g), DAI=3 (i.e., the next consecutive DAI count indicates that one or more DAIs are not missed), G=0 (i.e., for the same group as the first DCI 310 and the first PDSCH transmission 315), R=0 (i.e., no feedback is requested for another group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not been reset based on not switching from the previous DCI). In this example, the sixth time slot 305 - f may not include any transmissions associated with a particular UE, and the seventh time slot 305 - g may include resources for a second PUCCH transmission 350 for reporting group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0133] The UE may again determine feedback (which in this case includes feedback for PDSCH transmissions 315, 325, and 345) and format a second feedback codebook 355 that includes bits associated with each DAI indicated in the received DAI field. Thus, in this example, the second feedback codebook 355 includes an ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=1 of the first slot 305-a, a second ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=2 of the second slot 305-b, and a third ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=3 of the fifth slot 305-e. In this example, the PUCCH transmission 350 may again not be successfully received at the base station (e.g., due to interference, LBT failure, etc.). In addition, the base station may attempt to send a fourth DCI 360 and a fifth DCI 365 in the eighth slot 305-h, which may not be successfully received and decoded at the UE.

[0134] Therefore, when the base station transmits the sixth DCI 370 and the associated fourth PDSCH transmission 375 successfully received at the UE in the ninth time slot 305-i, the associated feedback parameters can be used to determine that the UE has missed the fourth DCI 360 and the fifth DCI 365. In this case, the sixth DCI 370 includes group-based feedback parameters K1=1 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the tenth time slot 305-j), DAI=2 (i.e., indicating six DAIs generated due to modulo 4 operation, and indicating that the fourth DAI and the fifth DAI are missed due to NFI not switching), G=0 (i.e., for the same group as the previous DCI / PDSCH transmission), R=0 (i.e., no feedback is requested for another group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not been reset based on not switching from the previous DCI).

[0135] In this example, the tenth time slot 305-j may include uplink resources for a PUCCH transmission 380 with a group-based feedback report. In this example, based on the feedback parameters of the various DCIs, the UE may determine a third feedback codebook 385 that provides an ACK / NACK indication for each DAI associated with the received DCI (i.e., for DAIs 1 to 3), provides a NACK indication for each DAI missed at the UE associated with the fourth DCI 360 and the fifth DCI 365, and provides an ACK / NACK indication for the sixth DAI associated with the sixth DCI 370.

[0136] Therefore, in this example, even after experiencing multiple failures of uplink and downlink transmissions, the UE is able to provide all associated feedback in the third feedback codebook 385. Assuming that the third feedback codebook 385 is successfully received and decoded, the base station can switch the NFI and reset the DAI to 1 for subsequent DCI for subsequent group-based feedback reports.

[0137] Figure 4 An example of a feedback timeline 400 with multiple groups for supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the feedback timeline 400 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 or 200. In this example, multiple transmission time slots 405 are shown, including a first transmission time slot 405-a to a tenth transmission time slot 405-j. In some cases, transmissions using the transmission time slots 405 can use licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof.

[0138] In this example, a first DCI 410 may be sent in a first time slot 405-a, which may include downlink scheduling information for an associated first PDSCH transmission 415 for a first group in the first time slot 405-a. In this example, the first DCI 410 may include group-based feedback parameters K1=3 (i.e., indicating that the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the fourth time slot 405-d), DAI=1 (i.e., indicating that the DAI causes an initial confirmation feedback indicator to be included in the confirmation codebook), G=0 (i.e., identifying the first downlink transmission group), R=0 (i.e., requesting only feedback reports for the same group associated with the DCI), and NFI=0.

[0139] exist Figure 4 In the example of , the second DCI 420 can schedule a second PDSCH transmission 425 of the first downlink transmission group in the second time slot 405-b. In this example, the second DCI 420 includes a group-based feedback parameter K1=2 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the fourth time slot 405-d), DAI=2 (i.e., the next consecutive DAI count indicates that one or more DAIs are not missed), G=0 (i.e., for the same group as the first DCI 410 and the first PDSCH transmission 415), R=0 (i.e., no feedback is requested for another group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not been reset based on not switching from the previous DCI).

[0140] In this example, the third time slot 405-c may include a third DCI 430 associated with a third PDSCH transmission 435 of the second downlink transmission group. In this example, the third DCI 430 includes group-based feedback parameters K1=4 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the seventh time slot 405-g), DAI=1 (i.e., the initial DAI for the second group), G=1 (i.e., for the second group different from the first DCI 410 and the second DCI 420 of the group), R=0 (i.e., no feedback is requested for another group), and NFI=0.

[0141] The UE receiving the downlink transmission may format the feedback codebook 445 for transmission in the PUCCH transmission 440, which in this example includes bits associated with each DAI of the first group of downlink transmissions as indicated in the received feedback parameters. Thus, in this example, the feedback codebook 445 is used for the first group and includes an ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=1 of the first time slot 405-a, and a second ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=2 of the second time slot 405-b. In this example, the PUCCH transmission 440 may not be successfully received at the base station (e.g., due to interference, LBT failure, etc.).

[0142] In this example, the base station may determine that the PUCCH transmission 440 was not successfully received, and therefore may maintain the DCI parameters of the first group for group-based acknowledgment feedback in order to obtain feedback associated with the first time slot 405-a and the second time slot 405-b. In this example, in the fifth time slot 405-e associated with the first downlink transmission group, the base station may transmit a fourth DCI 450 for the associated fourth PDSCH transmission 455. In this example, the fourth DCI 450 includes group-based feedback parameters K1=2 (i.e., the associated acknowledgment feedback will be provided in the seventh time slot 405-g), DAI=3 (i.e., the next consecutive DAI count indicates that one or more DAIs are not missed), G=0 (i.e., for the same group as the first DCI 410 and the first PDSCH transmission 415), R=1 (i.e., requesting feedback for both the first group and the second group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not been reset based on not switching from the previous DCI).

[0143] In this example, in the sixth time slot 405-f associated with the second group of downlink transmissions, the base station can transmit a fifth DCI 460 for the associated fifth PDSCH transmission 465. In this example, the fifth DCI 460 includes group-based feedback parameters K1=1 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the seventh time slot 405-g), DAI=2 (i.e., the next consecutive DAI count of the second group indicates that one or more DAIs are not missed), G=1 (i.e., for the second downlink transmission group), R=1 (i.e., requesting feedback for both the first group and the second group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not been reset based on not switching from the previous DCI).

[0144] The seventh time slot 405-g may include resources for a second PUCCH transmission 470 for reporting group-based acknowledgment feedback. In this case, the UE may again determine feedback, in which case the feedback includes feedback for both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions. In this example, the UE may format the first subcodebook 475-a of the first group (i.e., PDSCH transmissions 415, 425, and 455) and format the second subcodebook 475b of the second group (i.e., PDSCH transmissions 435 and 465). Each subcodebook 475 includes bits associated with each DAI indicated in the received DAI field of the associated group. Therefore, in this example, the first subcodebook 475-a includes ACK / NACK bits associated with the first group DAI=1 of the first time slot 405-a, the second ACK / NACK bits associated with the first group DAI=2 of the second time slot 405-b, and the third ACK / NACK bits associated with the first group DAI=3 of the fifth time slot 405-e. In addition, the second subcodebook 475-b includes ACK / NACK bits associated with the second group of DAI=1 of the third time slot 405-c and the second ACK / NACK bits associated with the second group of DAI=2 of the sixth time slot 405-f.

[0145] In this example, the second PUCCH transmission 470 can be successfully received, and the base station can switch the NFI field of the two groups and reset the associated DAI for each group. In this example, the sixth DCI 480 and the sixth PDSCH transmission 485 associated with the second group can be sent in the ninth time slot 405-i. The sixth DCI 480 may include feedback parameters K1=1, DAI=1, G=1, R=0 and NFI=1, which may indicate to the UE to send a third PUCCH transmission 490 with an acknowledgment feedback report with a codebook 495 for only the second group, wherein a single ACK / NACK is associated with the sixth PDSCH transmission 485.

[0146] Figure 5 An example of a feedback timeline 500 for supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the feedback timeline 500 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 or 200. In this example, a plurality of transmit time slots 505 are shown, including a first transmit time slot 505-a through an eighth transmit time slot 505-h. In some cases, transmissions using the transmit time slots 505 can use licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof.

[0147] In this example, the value of the NFI parameter may be switched within one feedback opportunity. As discussed herein, the NFI parameter may be used to reset the associated DAI counter of a PDSCH group for feedback indications sent on different PUCCH transmissions. For example, Figure 3 and 4 As discussed in the example of , when previous feedback about the PUCCH is correctly received at the base station, the NFI is switched to indicate that the group (i.e., the DAI for the group) is reset. If the NFI is not switched, the DAI for the group continues (i.e., the codebook for the group becomes larger for the next PUCCH transmission with a feedback report for the group). In this example, the NFI is switched within one confirmation feedback transmission opportunity (i.e., within a downlink DCI with a K1 value for the same time slot for sending confirmation feedback for the same group). In some cases, a single codebook for each downlink transmission group may be sent regardless of whether the NFI is switched within the confirmation feedback transmission opportunity. In some cases, the UE is not expected to handle this situation, and if the UE detects a switched NFI within the confirmation feedback transmission opportunity, the associated PUCCH is not sent, and for the next confirmation feedback transmission opportunity, the NFI for the group is considered to be switched.

[0148] In other cases, the UE may still send feedback reports based on predefined assumptions related to the handover NFI within the confirmation feedback sending opportunity. Figure 5 In the timeline shown, the first time slot 505-a may include a first DCI 510 and an associated first downlink PDSCH transmission 515. The first DCI may include group-based feedback parameters of K1=1, DAI=1, G=0, R=0, and NFI=0. In this case, the second time slot 505-b may include uplink resources for a first PUCCH transmission 520, which may include a first codebook 525 with an ACK / NACK indication for the first PDSCH transmission 515.

[0149] In the third time slot 505-c, a second DCI 530 and a second PDSCH transmission 535 may be sent. The second DCI 530 may include group-based feedback parameters of K1=5, DAI=1, G=0, R=0, and NFI=1. Such group-based feedback parameters therefore indicate to the UE that the first codebook 525 was successfully received at the base station and that confirmation feedback for the first PDSCH transmission 515 does not need to be retransmitted. In the fourth time slot 505-d, a third DCI 540 and an associated third downlink PDSCH transmission 545 may be sent. In this case, the third DCI 540 includes group-based feedback parameters of K1=4, DAI=2, G=0, R=0, and NFI=0. Therefore, in this example, the NFI is switched, which typically indicates a DAI reset, but the UE has not yet sent feedback associated with the previous DAI. Continue Figure 5 For example, in the sixth time slot 505-f, a fourth DCI 550 and an associated fourth PDSCH transmission 555 may be sent. The fourth DCI 550 may include group-based feedback parameters of K1=2, DAI=3, G=0, R=0, and NFI=1. Therefore, when the UE does not send feedback associated with the previous DAI, the NFI switches again. Then, the seventh time slot 505-g may provide a fifth DCI 560 and an associated fifth PDSCH transmission 565. The fifth DCI 560 may include group-based feedback parameters of K1=1, DAI=4, G=0, R=0, and NFI=1. The eighth time slot 505-h may include uplink resources for a second PUCCH transmission 570.

[0150] As indicated, in this example, the value of the NFI switches within the confirmation feedback transmission opportunity. In some cases, a single codebook may be used to send feedback reports. In one example, the UE may assume that the NFI will not switch within the DCI and therefore the DAI will not be reset. In such an example, a second codebook 575 may be generated for the confirmation feedback report, which includes an ACK / NACK bit for each of the four DAIs associated with the second DCI 530 to the fifth DCI 560. In some cases, the NFI value for such an instance may be determined by comparison with a previous confirmation feedback transmission opportunity to determine whether the current confirmation feedback for the group should assume that the DAI continues. In such cases, the decision whether the NFI switches is based on the NFI value of the first DCI (in the detected DCI with the K1 value for the same time slot of the PUCCH transmission for the current confirmation feedback transmission opportunity) and the next confirmation feedback transmission opportunity is compared to decide this situation (e.g., whether the DAI continues for the next feedback report), and the decision whether the NFI switches is based on the last DCI (e.g., Figure 5In other cases, for both the previous confirmation feedback transmission opportunity and the next confirmation feedback transmission opportunity, the NFI value of the last DCI or the first DCI is considered to be the NFI value of the confirmation feedback transmission opportunity. In other cases, for both the previous confirmation feedback transmission opportunity and the next confirmation feedback transmission opportunity, the NFI value for the transmission group is decided based on a majority rule among the NFI values of the received DCIs (e.g., using a tiebreaker based on the first or last DCI).

[0151] In other cases, multiple feedback codebooks may be determined based on each switching of the NFI. Figure 5 In the example of , this technique is illustrated for a third codebook 580, which may include a first subcodebook 580-a associated with the current state of the codebook before the NFI switches for the first time at the third DCI 540, a second subcodebook 580-b associated with the current state of the codebook before the NFI switches for the second time at the fourth DCI 550, and a third subcodebook 580-a based on the second DCI 530 to the fifth DCI 560. In this example, note that the second subcodebook 580-b includes a NACK for DAI=1 because the value of DAI is 2 when the NFI switches, so it is uncertain whether a different DAI=1 DCI may have been sent but not received at the UE. Similarly, for the same reason, the third subcodebook 580-c includes a NACK indication for both DAI=1 and DAI=2. Therefore, in this technique, each time the NFI is switched, a new subcodebook is created for the group and the DAI is reset. In some cases, each generated subcodebook may be sent by the UE. In other cases, only the latest sub-codebook may be sent.

[0152] In the last DCI (for example, Figure 5 In some cases where the NFI value of the fifth DCI 560 in the example of the transmission timeline is considered to be the NFI value for confirming the feedback transmission opportunity, the feedback codebook can be determined based on the latest switching of the NFI (e.g., at the fourth DCI 550) as described above. For example, in some cases, there may be a switching of the NFI at the second DCI in the second time slot of the transmission timeline, so that the NFI at the last DCI in the eight time slots is considered to be the NFI value for confirming the feedback transmission opportunity. In this case, the feedback codebook can be determined based on the DCI occurring between (including the endpoints) the DCI where the switching occurs (e.g., the DCI in the second time slot) and the last DCI (e.g., the DCI in the eighth time slot). For example, the feedback codebook may include feedback for the DCI in the second time slot, the DCI occurring after the second time slot, until and including the last DCI in the eight time slots.

[0153] Figure 6An example of a feedback timeline 600 for supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the feedback timeline 600 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 or 200. In this example, a plurality of transmit time slots 605 are shown, including a first transmit time slot 605-a through an eighth transmit time slot 605-h. In some cases, transmissions using the transmit time slots 605 can use licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof.

[0154] As discussed herein, in some cases, a base station may request feedback for multiple groups of downlink transmissions. In such cases, it may be beneficial to provide the UE with one or more parameters associated with the downlink transmissions of one or more other groups. In some cases, such parameters may not be provided in a DCI transmission, and a UE that is to send feedback for another group may use feedback parameters received only in a DCI associated with the other group. In cases such as Figure 6 and 7 In other cases as shown in , information related to another group may be provided in one or more DCIs.

[0155] In this example, DCI may be sent using group-based feedback parameters that include NFI and other DAI information related to another group of downlink transmissions. In this case, a two-bit NFI field (or n-bit NFI field in the case of n groups of downlink transmissions) may be provided, and an "another DAI" field (or n other DAI fields in the case of n groups of downlink transmissions) may be provided.

[0156] In the case where feedback is not requested for another downlink transmission group (i.e., R=0), the DAI value and NFI bit of the other group (except the indicated group G) can be simply ignored. In other cases where feedback is not requested for another downlink transmission group, the UE can update the DAI and NFI of the other group according to the indication received in the DCI, but the actual feedback codebook of the other group is only issued upon request. In other cases, if the value of NFI is equal to the previous value of NFI of the other group, but the other DAI indicates one or more gaps, the UE can generate a NACK (i.e., a virtual NACK) for each codebook position corresponding to the number of gaps between the end of the previous DAI value of the other group and the indicated DAI value of the other group. When feedback is requested for another group or two groups, the UE can send the corresponding codebook for the corresponding downlink transmission group. In other cases, the feedback parameters provided in the DCI may include the DAI for the other group, but the NFI may be used only for the group associated with the DCI (i.e., a single bit NFI). In such cases, the UE can assume that the NFI of the other group is equal to the previous NFI value of the group.

[0157] This type of technology Figure 6 , where the first DCI 610 and the associated first group PDSCH transmission 615 are transmitted in the first time slot 605-a. In this example, the first DCI 610 includes K1=3, DAI=1, G=0, R=0, NFI=00 and other feedback parameters of DAI=1 (i.e., the DAI counter for the second downlink transmission group is 1). The second DCI 620 and the associated first group PDSCH transmission 625 can be transmitted in the second time slot 605-b. The second DCI 620 includes K1=2, DAI=2, G=0, R=0, NFI=00 and other feedback parameters of DAI=1 (i.e., the DAI counter for the second downlink transmission group remains at 1). The third DCI 630 for the second group and the associated second group PDSCH transmission 635 can be transmitted in the third time slot 605-c. The third DCI 630 includes K1=5, DAI=1, G=1, R=0, NFI=00, and other feedback parameters of DAI=2 (ie, the DAI counter for the first group is 2).

[0158] The UE receiving the downlink transmission may format a first set of feedback codebooks 645 for transmission in a PUCCH transmission 640, in this example including bits associated with each DAI of the first set of downlink transmissions as indicated in the received feedback parameters. Thus, in this example, the feedback codebook 645 is for the first group and includes an ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=1 of the first slot 605-a, and a second ACK / NACK bit associated with DAI=2 of the second slot 605-b. In this example, the PUCCH transmission 640 may not be successfully received at the base station (e.g., due to interference, LBT failure, etc.).

[0159] In this example, the base station may determine that the PUCCH transmission 640 was not successfully received and may therefore maintain the DCI parameters of the first group for group-based acknowledgment feedback in order to obtain feedback associated with the first time slot 605-a and the second time slot 605-b. In this example, in the fifth time slot 605-e associated with the first downlink transmission group, the base station may transmit a fourth DCI 650 that may not be successfully received and decoded at the UE. In addition, in this example, the base station may transmit a fifth DCI 655 in the sixth time slot 605-f associated with the first group that may not be successfully received and decoded at the UE.

[0160] At the seventh time slot 605-g, a sixth DCI 660 and a fourth PDSCH transmission 665 associated with the second group may be transmitted. The sixth DCI 660 includes K1=1, DAI=2, G=1, R=1, NFI=00, and other feedback parameters for DAI=4 (i.e., the DAI of the first group is 4). In this example, the UE may format a first subcodebook 675-a for the first group (i.e., for PDSCH transmissions 615, 625, and for unreceived transmissions for DAI=3 and DAI=4), and a second subcodebook 675b for the second group (i.e., PDSCH transmissions 635 and 665). Each subcodebook 675 includes bits associated with each DAI indicated in the received DAI field of the associated group. Thus, in this example, the first subcodebook 675-a includes ACK / NACK bits associated with the first group of DAI=1 of the first time slot 605-a, a second ACK / NACK bit associated with the first group of DAI=2 of the second time slot 605-b, and a NACK bit associated with the first group of DAI=3 and DAI=4, which is not received at the UE but is indicated as having been sent in the sixth DCI 660. In addition, the second subcodebook 675-b includes ACK / NACK bits associated with the second group of DAI=1 of the third time slot 605-c, and a second ACK / NACK bit associated with the second group of DAI=2 of the seventh time slot 605-g. Therefore, the further DAI indication provided in the group-based feedback parameter can allow the UE to report a negative acknowledgement faster than reporting without indicating the further DAI to the UE, which can enhance the operation of the wireless communication system relative to the case where such a NACK indication will be provided later.

[0161] Figure 7 Another example of a feedback timeline 700 for supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the feedback timeline 700 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 or 200. In this example, a plurality of transmit time slots 705 are shown, including a first transmit time slot 705-a through an eighth transmit time slot 705-h. In some cases, transmissions using the transmit time slots 705 can use licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof.

[0162] As about Figure 6 As discussed, in some cases, the base station may request feedback on multiple groups of downlink transmissions and may provide the UE with one or more parameters associated with one or more other groups of downlink transmissions. Figure 6 In the example of , the value of the NFI bit of each group is equal to the previous NFI value. In the case where the value of the NFI bit changes, such as Figure 7As shown in , the UE should generate a NACK indication (e.g., a virtual NACK) until the value of the indicated DAI for the group and the previous DAI value for the group is not used. This situation may indicate, for example, that all DCIs of another group are missed.

[0163] exist Figure 7 In the example of , the first DCI 710 and the associated first group PDSCH transmission 715 are transmitted in the first time slot 705-a. In this example, the first DCI 710 includes K1=1, DAI=1, G=0, R=0, NFI=00 and other feedback parameters of DAI=1 (e.g., the DAI counter for the second downlink transmission group is 1). The second time slot 705-b may include resources for the first PUCCH transmission 720, which may include a first codebook 725 providing feedback reports for the first downlink transmission group.

[0164] A second DCI 730 may be sent in a third slot 705-c but not received at the UE, and a third DCI 735 may be sent in a fourth slot 705-d but not received at the UE. In this example, a fifth slot 704-e may include uplink resources for a second PUCCH transmission 740, but the UE may not send such a transmission because there is no feedback to report.

[0165] At the seventh time slot 705-g, a fourth DCI 745 associated with the second downlink transmission group and a second PDSCH transmission 750 may be transmitted. The fourth DCI 745 includes feedback parameters of K1=1, DAI=1, G=1, R=1, NFI=01, and another DAI=2 (i.e., the DAI counter of the first downlink transmission group is 2, which may indicate to the UE that two DCIs are missing).

[0166] The UE receiving the downlink transmission may format the second group feedback codebook 760 for transmission in the PUCCH transmission 755 in the eighth time slot 705-h. In this example, the second group feedback codebook 760 may include a first subcodebook 760-a associated with the first downlink transmission group, which indicates NACK for each DAI not received at the UE. The indication of the switching NFI of the first group provided in the fourth DCI 745 and the indication that the other DAI is 2 indicate to the UE that the DAI is reset and two DCIs have been sent, which are used by the UE to report the NACK indication. In this example, the second subcodebook 760-b may provide confirmation feedback for the DAI=1 of the second group of downlink transmissions. Therefore, the other DAI indication provided in the group-based feedback parameters and the NFI indication for the other group can allow the UE to report a negative confirmation faster than the report without indicating the other DAI to the UE, which can enhance the operation of the wireless communication system relative to the case where such a NACK indication will be provided later.

[0167] As discussed, in some cases, feedback for different downlink transmission groups may be requested in a DCI for a first downlink transmission group (e.g., based on the value of parameter R). In some cases, the DCI with group-based feedback parameters may not include parameter R. In such cases, sending feedback for more than one group in the PUCCH may be accomplished by two or more DCIs indicating K1 values for the same time slot used for PUCCH transmission and indicating different groups (i.e., with different G values). In such cases, the UE may determine that multiple feedback codebooks associated with different downlink transmission groups will be generated and sent. In the case where such parameter R is not provided with a group-based feedback parameter, an NFI indication and another DAI indication for another group may also not be included in the group-based feedback parameter, and the size of the group-based feedback parameter may be reduced relative to the case where such parameters are provided.

[0168] In other cases, the group-based feedback parameter field R may be present in the DCI and indicate whether feedback is requested for other groups. In some cases, the value of R may change in a detected DCI with a K1 value pointing to the same time slot for PUCCH transmission (e.g., due to an error at the base station, an error in decoding the group-based feedback parameters, interference with the DCI transmission, etc.). In some cases, if the R value changes in this manner, the value in the most recently received DCI may be considered to determine whether to request feedback for other groups. In some cases, it may not be expected that the UE handles a situation where feedback is initially requested for other groups (R=1) and then not requested for feedback (R=0) in the next DCI, which may result in an error situation and the UE may not send a PUCCH with a feedback report. In such a case, the base station may have a restriction that the UE is not expected to receive DCI that schedules PDSCHs belonging to different PDSCH groups (e.g., G=0 and G=1) and for the same time slot for feedback transmission. In other cases, if at least one R value in the received DCI indicates that feedback for other groups is to be sent, the UE may send feedback for other groups.

[0169] In the case of sending feedback for two or more downlink transmission groups, rules may be defined for appending codebooks for the first group and the second group. In some cases, when there is more than one group of feedback, the order in which the two codebooks are placed in the feedback payload may be based on the group index of each downlink transmission group. For example, the UE may generate a feedback codebook by appending a codebook of G=1 to a codebook of G=0. In other cases, the codebook of another group is placed after the codebook of the current group (for example, if the DCI of group G=1 requests feedback for group G=0, the UE may generate a feedback codebook by appending a codebook of G=0 to a codebook of G=1). Therefore, multiple codebooks for different downlink transmission groups may be reused in feedback reports.

[0170] about Figures 3 to 7The examples discussed describe that DCI may include various group-based feedback parameters. In some cases, such DCI transmissions may have a DCI format associated with group-based downlink feedback (e.g., DCI format 1_1). However, in some cases, a fallback DCI (e.g., DCI format 1_0) that does not include group-based feedback parameters may be used to schedule one or more downlink transmissions. According to some aspects of the present disclosure, group-based confirmation feedback may still be used with such fallback DCI. In some cases, when dynamic group-based confirmation feedback is configured (e.g., configured at RRC establishment and enabled by RRC signaling), if the UE receives a DCI that schedules PDSCH and the DCI format does not have an additional field for information related to dynamic group-based confirmation feedback (i.e., fallback DCI), the UE may determine group-based confirmation feedback parameters according to one or more predetermined rules.

[0171] In some cases, one or more existing fields of the fallback DCI may be reused to indicate one or more group-based confirmation feedback parameters. For example, one or more bits of the PUCCH resource indicator (PRI) field, one or more bits of the frequency domain resource allocation (FDRA) or time domain resource allocation (TDRA), or a combination thereof may be used to provide information related to group-based confirmation feedback parameters. In other cases, the UE may assume fixed values for group-based confirmation feedback parameters that are omitted in the fallback DCI. For example, the UE may assume that the PDSCH always belongs to the first group (assuming G=0) and that the NFI does not switch (assuming the same NFI as the previous DCI). In addition, in the case where group-based confirmation feedback parameters are provided to R, NFI, and another DAI, the UE may assume that for the fallback DCI, R=0 (no feedback is requested for another group), and no assumptions or updates are made for another NFI and another DAI.

[0172] In other cases, the group-based confirmation feedback corresponding to the PDSCH scheduled by the fallback DCI can be constructed separately from the feedback corresponding to the PDSCH scheduled by the DCI including the group-based confirmation feedback parameters. In some cases, since the cDAI field may be present in the fallback DCI format, the DAI can be applied separately to different DCI formats. In some cases, in the case where such feedback is constructed separately, for a given group-based confirmation feedback report, the UE may only expect PDSCH scheduled by the fallback DCI or only by the non-fallback DCI, and the base station can format the DCI accordingly. In other cases, for a given group-based confirmation feedback report, the UE may have two PDSCHs scheduled by the fallback DCI or by the non-fallback DCI, in which case up to three feedback codebooks may be possible (e.g., a first codebook for the PDSCH scheduled by the fallback DCI, a second codebook for the non-fallback DCI for G=0, and a third codebook for the non-fallback DCI for G=1). In this case, group-based confirmation feedback can be used with the fallback DCI, which can enhance system flexibility and feedback performance / delay. In some cases, if each DCI for a feedback transmission is a fallback DCI (i.e., all DCI for the same slot for an associated acknowledgment feedback transmission are fallback DCI), then conventional non-group-based acknowledgment feedback may be sent in the feedback transmission, and subsequent group-based feedback may be provided for one or more PDSCH transmissions preceding the fallback DCI transmission. Figure 8 An example of this technique is described.

[0173] Figure 8 An example of a feedback timeline 800 for supporting group-based and non-group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the feedback timeline 800 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 or 200. In this example, a plurality of transmit time slots 805 are shown, including a first transmit time slot 805-a through a ninth transmit time slot 805-j. In some cases, transmissions using the transmit time slots 805 can use licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof.

[0174] In this example, a first DCI 810 may be sent in a first time slot 805-a, which may include downlink scheduling information for an associated first PDSCH transmission 815 for a first group in the first time slot 805-a. In this example, the first DCI 810 may include a group-based feedback parameter K1=2 (i.e., indicating that the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in a third time slot 805-d), DAI=1 (i.e., indicating that the DAI causes an initial confirmation feedback indicator to be included in the confirmation codebook for the first group), G=0 (i.e., identifying a first downlink transmission group), R=1 (i.e., requesting feedback reporting for multiple groups), and NFI=0.

[0175] exist Figure 8 In the example of , the second DCI 820 can schedule a second PDSCH transmission 825 in a second downlink transmission group in a second time slot 805-b. In this example, the second DCI 820 includes a group-based feedback parameter K1=1 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in a third time slot 805-d), DAI=1 (i.e., indicating that the DAI causes the initial confirmation feedback indicator to be included in the confirmation codebook of the first group), G=1 (i.e., for a second group different from the group of first DCI 810), R=1 (i.e., requesting feedback reports for multiple groups), and NFI=0.

[0176] A UE receiving the downlink transmission may format feedback codebooks 835 and 840 for transmission in a PUCCH transmission 830, which in this example include bits associated with each of the first and second groups of downlink transmissions as indicated in the received feedback parameters.

[0177] In this example, the base station may send a fallback DCI 845 (e.g., DCI format 1_0) and a PDSCH transmission 850 in the fourth time slot 805-d, and also send a fallback DCI 855 and a PDSCH transmission 860 in the fifth time slot 805-e. Both the fallback DCIs 845 and 855 may indicate that associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the sixth time slot 805-f. The UE may send a PUCCH 865 in the sixth time slot 805-f, which may include a conventional dynamic feedback codebook 870 for non-group-based feedback. In this case, feedback from the first time slot 805-a and the second time slot 805-b may not be provided in the PUCCH 865 transmission. Therefore, in the case where all DCIs associated with the confirmation feedback opportunity are fallback DCIs, a conventional dynamic codebook may be used in the confirmation feedback opportunity. In the case where one DCI is a fallback DCI and the other DCI is used for group-based feedback, the confirmation feedback may be provided by referring to Figure 7Group-based feedback is sent in a similar manner as discussed above. For example, it may be assumed that the PDSCH group scheduled by DCI format 1_0 is the first PDSCH group, it may be assumed that the NFI of the first PDSCH group is not changed by the DCI, and it may be assumed that the DCI does not request feedback for another PDSCH group.

[0178] Continuing with the example, in the seventh time slot 805-g associated with the first downlink transmission group, the base station can send DCI 875 for the associated second group-based PDSCH transmission 880 of the first transmission group. In this example, the DCI 875 includes feedback parameters K1=2 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the ninth time slot 805-i), DAI=2 (i.e., the next consecutive DAI count), G=0 (i.e., for the same group as the first DCI 810 and the first PDSCH transmission 815), R=1 (i.e., requesting feedback for both the first group and the second group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not been reset based on not switching from the previous DCI). In this example, in the eighth time slot 805-h associated with the second group of downlink transmissions, the base station can send DCI 885 for the associated second group-based PDSCH transmission 890 of the second transmission group. In this example, DCI 885 includes feedback parameters K1=1 (i.e., the associated confirmation feedback will be provided in the ninth time slot 805-i), DAI=2 (i.e., the next consecutive DAI count for the second group), G=1 (i.e., for the second downlink transmission group), R=1 (i.e., requesting feedback for both the first group and the second group), and NFI=0 (i.e., the DAI has not yet been reset based on not switching from a previous DCI).

[0179] The ninth time slot 805-i may include resources for a second group-based PUCCH transmission 895 for reporting group-based confirmation feedback. In this case, the UE may determine feedback again, in which case the feedback includes feedback for both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions. In this example, the UE may format one or more feedback codebooks 897 for the first group and / or the second group. In this example, separate sub-codebooks for the first group and the second group will be included, but in other examples, only one codebook may be included. In this case, the feedback codebook 897 may include confirmation feedback for the time slot before the fallback DCI transmission (in this example, i.e., the first time slot 805-a and the second time slot 805-b). Therefore, in such examples, when all DCIs used for confirmation feedback opportunities are fallback DCIs, conventional (i.e., non-group-based) dynamic codebook feedback may be used, and group-based codebook feedback may be used before and after conventional dynamic codebook feedback, where group-based feedback may be associated with transmissions with fallback DCIs before and / or after the DCI.

[0180] In some cases, for the confirmation feedback opportunity in the ninth slot 805-i (i.e., the group-based feedback transmission after the feedback for the fallback DCI), the feedback bits of the sixth slot 805-f may not be retransmitted, but the feedback bits for the earlier transmissions scheduled with the group-based DCI starting from the first slot 805-a and the second slot 805-b may be retransmitted in the feedback codebook 897. In some cases, it may be assumed that the NFI of one or more PDSCH groups is switched, in which case the feedback bits for the earlier transmissions scheduled with the group-based DCI starting from the first slot 805-a and the second slot 805-b may not be retransmitted in the feedback codebook 897. In other cases, to determine whether the NFI is switched, the previous DCI (i.e., before the fallback DCI) including the NFI for the group is considered.

[0186] In some cases, the communication manager 915 may also receive configuration information for group-based acknowledgment feedback for one or more groups of downlink transmissions to the UE from a base station, wherein one or more parameters associated with the group-based acknowledgment feedback are indicated in a first set of fields in a first downlink control information format and are not present in a second set of fields in a second downlink control information format different from the first set of fields, wherein the first set of fields includes a first information field subset that is a supplement to the second set of fields; receive downlink control information transmissions having the second downlink control information format from the base station; determine first acknowledgment feedback associated with at least a first group of downlink transmissions based on using a predetermined value for each field of the first information field subset; and send the first acknowledgment feedback to the base station. [0191] Fig.10 A block diagram 1000 of a device 1005 supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communication according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The device 1005 may be an example of aspects of the device 905 or UE 115 as described herein. The device 1005 may include a receiver 1010, a communication manager 1015, and a transmitter 1040. The device 1005 may also include a processor. Each of these components may communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).

[0192] The receiver 1010 may receive information such as packets, user data, or control information associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, and information related to group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communications, etc.). The information may be delivered to other components of the device 1005. The receiver 1010 may be a reference Fig.12 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1220 are described. The receiver 1010 may utilize a single antenna or a group of antennas.

[0193] The communication manager 1015 may be an example of aspects of the communication manager 915 as described herein. The communication manager 1015 may include a group-based feedback manager 1020, a feedback determination manager 1025, a downlink transmission manager 1030, and a feedback transmission manager 1035. The communication manager 1015 may be an example of aspects of the communication manager 1210 described herein.

[0194] In some cases, the group-based feedback manager 1020 may receive a first downlink control information transmission from a base station, the first downlink control information transmission providing a first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters associated with the first downlink transmission, wherein the first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a first new confirmation feedback indicator and a first feedback timing, the first feedback timing indicating that the first uplink transmission includes the first group-based confirmation feedback; and receive a second downlink control information transmission from the base station, the second downlink control information transmission providing a second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters associated with the second downlink transmission, wherein the second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a second new confirmation feedback indicator different from the first new confirmation feedback indicator and a second feedback timing, the second feedback timing indicating that the first uplink transmission includes the first group-based confirmation feedback. The feedback determination manager 1025 may determine the first group-based confirmation feedback based on which of the first new confirmation feedback indicator or the second new confirmation feedback indicator is received earliest or latest in time. Based on receiving the first downlink control information transmission and the second downlink control information transmission, the processor of the UE 115 (e.g., as described in reference to Fig.12 The control receiver 1010, the transmitter 1040, or the transceiver 1220 as described above can efficiently determine the first group-based acknowledgment feedback. The processor of the UE 115 can turn on one or more processing units for receiving the first downlink control information transmission and the second downlink control information transmission, increase the processing clock, or a similar mechanism within the UE 115. Thus, when the first downlink control information transmission and the second downlink control information transmission are received, the processor can be prepared to respond more efficiently by reducing the processing power ramp.

[0195] In some cases, the group-based feedback manager 1020 may receive a downlink control information transmission from a base station providing a set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters, wherein the set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a group indicator identifying at least a first group of downlink transmissions to be included in a first group-based confirmation feedback transmission, a first downlink allocation indicator identifying one or more downlink transmissions in the first group of downlink transmissions, a second downlink allocation indicator identifying one or more downlink transmissions in a second group of downlink transmissions, a first new confirmation feedback indicator identifying whether the first downlink allocation indicator is reset, and a second new confirmation feedback indicator associated with the second group of downlink transmissions. The downlink transmission manager 1030 may receive one or more downlink transmissions in the first group of downlink transmissions. The feedback determination manager 1025 may determine that a first confirmation feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions is included in the first group-based confirmation feedback transmission based on the first downlink allocation indicator and the first new confirmation feedback indicator. The feedback transmission manager 1035 may update a second group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions based on the confirmation. The feedback transmission manager 1035 may transmit a first group-based confirmation feedback transmission to the base station.

[0196] In some cases, the group-based feedback manager 1020 may receive a first downlink control information transmission from a base station, the first downlink control information transmission providing a first set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters, wherein the first set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters includes a first set of indicators for a first group of downlink transmissions and a first feedback timing, the first feedback timing indicating that a first uplink transmission will include a first group-based acknowledgment feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions; and receive a second downlink control information transmission from the base station, the second downlink control information transmission providing a second set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters, wherein the second set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters includes a second set of indicators for a second group of downlink transmissions and a second feedback timing, the second feedback timing indicating that the first uplink transmission will include one or more of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback or the second group-based acknowledgment feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions. The feedback determination manager 1025 may determine that the first uplink transmission will include both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback based on the first feedback timing and the second feedback timing.

[0197] In some cases, the group-based feedback manager 1020 may receive configuration information for group-based acknowledgment feedback for one or more groups of downlink transmissions to the UE from a base station, wherein one or more parameters associated with the group-based acknowledgment feedback are indicated in a first group of fields in a first downlink control information format and are not present in a second group of fields in a second downlink control information format different from the first group of fields, wherein the first group of fields includes a first information field subset that is a supplement to the second group of fields; receive downlink control information transmissions having the second downlink control information format from the base station; and determine first acknowledgment feedback associated with at least a first group of downlink transmissions based on using a predetermined value for each field of the first information field subset. The feedback transmission manager 1035 may send the first acknowledgment feedback to the base station.

[0198] In some cases, the downlink transmission manager 1030 may receive a first downlink control information transmission associated with a first group-based downlink transmission and a first confirmation feedback opportunity from a base station; receive a second downlink control information transmission after the first downlink control information transmission, the second downlink control information transmission associated with a second non-group-based downlink transmission and a second confirmation feedback opportunity; and receive a third downlink control information transmission after the second downlink control information transmission, the third downlink control information transmission associated with a third group-based downlink transmission and a third confirmation feedback opportunity. The feedback transmission manager 1035 may transmit a non-group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second non-group-based downlink transmission in the second confirmation feedback opportunity; and transmit a group-based confirmation feedback associated with one or more of the first group-based downlink transmission or the third group-based downlink transmission in the third confirmation feedback opportunity.

[0199] Transmitter 1040 can transmit signals generated by other components of device 1005. In some examples, transmitter 1040 can be co-located with receiver 1010 in a transceiver module. For example, transmitter 1040 can be a reference Fig.12 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1220 are described. The transmitter 1040 can utilize a single antenna or a group of antennas.

[0200] Fig.11A block diagram 1100 of a communication manager 1105 supporting group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques for wireless communications in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The communication manager 1105 may be an example of aspects of the communication manager 915, the communication manager 1015, or the communication manager 1210 described herein. The communication manager 1105 may include a group-based feedback manager 1110, a feedback determination manager 1115, a group determination manager 1120, a feedback transmission manager 1125, a downlink transmission manager 1130, and an NFI determination component 1135. Each of these modules may communicate with each other directly or indirectly (e.g., via one or more buses).

[0201] The group-based feedback manager 1110 can receive a first downlink control information transmission from a base station providing a first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters associated with a first downlink transmission, wherein the first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a first new confirmation feedback indicator and a first feedback timing indicating that the first uplink transmission includes a first group-based confirmation feedback.

[0202] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 can receive a second downlink control information transmission from the base station providing a second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters associated with a second downlink transmission, wherein the second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a second new confirmation feedback indicator different from the first new confirmation feedback indicator and a second feedback timing indicating that the first uplink transmission includes the first group-based confirmation feedback.

[0203] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 can receive downlink control information transmissions from a base station that provide a set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters, wherein the set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a group indicator identifying at least a first group of downlink transmissions to be included in a first group-based confirmation feedback transmission, a first downlink allocation indicator identifying one or more downlink transmissions in the first group of downlink transmissions, a second downlink allocation indicator identifying one or more downlink transmissions in a second group of downlink transmissions, a first new confirmation feedback indicator identifying whether the first downlink allocation indicator is reset, and a second new confirmation feedback indicator associated with the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0204] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 can receive a first downlink control information transmission from a base station, which first downlink control information transmission provides a first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters, wherein the first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a first group indicator and a first feedback timing for the first group of downlink transmissions, and the first feedback timing indicates that the first uplink transmission will include a first group-based confirmation feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions.

[0205] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 can receive a second downlink control information transmission from the base station, the second downlink control information transmission providing a second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters, wherein the second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters includes a second set of indicators and a second feedback timing for the second group of downlink transmissions, the second feedback timing indicating that the first uplink transmission will include one or more of the first group-based confirmation feedback or the second group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0206] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 can receive configuration information from a base station for group-based acknowledgment feedback for one or more groups of downlink transmissions to the UE, wherein one or more parameters associated with the group-based acknowledgment feedback are indicated in a first group of fields in a first downlink control information format and are not present in a second group of fields in a second downlink control information format that is different from the first group of fields, wherein the first group of fields includes a first information field subset that supplements the second group of fields.

[0207] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may receive a downlink control information transmission having the second downlink control information format from the base station. In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may determine a first acknowledgment feedback associated with at least a first group of downlink transmissions based on using a predetermined value for each field of the first information field subset.

[0208] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 can identify that the second new confirmation feedback indicator is different from the first new confirmation feedback indicator of the first group-based confirmation feedback and corresponds to an error condition.

[0209] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may suspend generating the first group-based acknowledgment feedback to be sent in the first uplink transmission.

[0210] In some examples, when at least one of the first set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters or the second set of group-based confirmation feedback parameters indicates a request for both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may send the first group-based confirmation feedback and the second group-based confirmation feedback.

[0211] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may determine that the second new acknowledgment feedback indicator resets the first group-based acknowledgment feedback for a subsequent second uplink transmission including group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0212] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may determine that the group indicator identifies only the first group of downlink transmissions to be included in the first group-based acknowledgment feedback transmission.

[0213] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may ignore the second downlink allocation indicator and the second new acknowledgment feedback indicator associated with the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0214] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may determine that the group indicator identifies that both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions are to be included in the first group-based acknowledgment feedback transmission.

[0215] In some examples, the group-based feedback manager 1110 may receive an indication from the base station to enable the group-based confirmation feedback, and wherein the second set of fields of the second downlink control information format are interpreted differently based on whether the group-based confirmation feedback is enabled or disabled at the UE.

[0216] In some cases, the set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters also includes a second downlink allocation indicator identifying one or more downlink transmissions in a second set of downlink transmissions and a second new acknowledgment feedback indicator associated with the second set of downlink transmissions.

[0217] In some cases, the second downlink control information format is a fallback downlink control information format.

[0218] In some cases, the first subset of information fields includes one or more of a group indicator field, a new acknowledgment feedback indicator field, or a request field indicating that acknowledgment feedback is requested for one or more of the downlink transmissions of a plurality of different groups.

[0219] In some cases, the predetermined value for the group indicator field corresponds to the downlink transmission group associated with the downlink control information transmission, the predetermined value for the new confirmation feedback indicator field corresponds to the previous value of the new confirmation feedback indicator field, and the predetermined value for the request field corresponds to a value indicating that confirmation feedback is not requested for another group of downlink transmissions.

[0220] The feedback determination manager 1115 may determine the first group-based confirmation feedback based on which of the first new confirmation feedback indicator or the second new confirmation feedback indicator is received earliest or latest in time.

[0221] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may determine, based on the first downlink assignment indicator and the first new acknowledgment feedback indicator, that first acknowledgment feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions is included in the first group-based acknowledgment feedback transmission.

[0222] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may determine, based on the first feedback timing and the second feedback timing, that the first uplink transmission will include both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0223] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may determine a first acknowledgment (ACK) / negative acknowledgment (NACK) to be reported as feedback sent for the first downlink and a second ACK / NACK to be reported as feedback sent for the second downlink. In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may identify that the first new acknowledgment feedback indicator that is different from the first group-based acknowledgment feedback is interpreted as the new acknowledgment feedback indicator not switching from the first new acknowledgment feedback indicator. In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may format the first group-based acknowledgment feedback to include the first ACK / NACK and the second ACK / NACK based on the first new acknowledgment feedback indicator or the second new acknowledgment feedback indicator. In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may send a latest feedback information subset associated with the most recently received new acknowledgment feedback indicator.

[0224] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 can format a first subset of feedback information associated with a first new confirmation feedback indicator in the first group-based confirmation feedback and a second subset of feedback information associated with a second new confirmation feedback indicator in the first group-based confirmation feedback. In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 can concatenate the first subset of feedback information and the second subset of feedback information in the first group-based confirmation feedback.

[0225] In some examples, feedback determination manager 1115 may identify a first codebook entry associated with a first subset of feedback information. In some examples, feedback determination manager 1115 may identify a second codebook entry associated with a second subset of feedback information.

[0226] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may send the first group-based acknowledgment feedback to the base station in the first uplink transmission based on the first codebook entry and the second codebook entry.

[0227] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may update second group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions based on the second downlink allocation indicator and the second new confirmation feedback indicator for sending second group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0228] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 can generate a negative acknowledgment for each downlink allocation indicator associated with the second group of downlink transmissions until the second downlink allocation indicator, wherein the previous downlink allocation indicator value used for the second group of downlink transmissions before the second group of downlink allocation indicator is discarded.

[0229] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 can identify one or more gaps between the second downlink allocation indicator and a previous downlink allocation indicator value associated with a second set of downlink transmissions provided with a previous downlink control information transmission from the base station. In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 can generate a negative acknowledgement for each downlink allocation indicator associated with the one or more gaps.

[0230] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may determine that second acknowledgment feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions is included in the first group-based acknowledgment feedback transmission.

[0231] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may determine that second confirmation feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions is included in the first group-based confirmation feedback transmission based on the second group of downlink transmissions having the same new confirmation feedback indicator as the previous downlink control information transmission.

[0232] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may determine first group-based acknowledgment feedback associated with the first group of downlink transmissions and second group-based acknowledgment feedback associated with the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0233] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may format the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback into a combined feedback report. In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may append the second group-based acknowledgment feedback to the first group-based acknowledgment feedback based on the index value of the first group index of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback being lower than the second group index of the second group-based acknowledgment feedback. In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 may append the second group-based acknowledgment feedback to the first group-based acknowledgment feedback based on a request to receive the second group-based acknowledgment feedback in downlink control information associated with the first group transmission.

[0234] In some examples, the feedback determination manager 1115 can format the first confirmation feedback of one or more downlink transmissions associated with the first downlink control information format separately from the second confirmation feedback associated with different downlink control information having a second downlink control information format. In some cases, the first group-based confirmation feedback is formatted relative to the previous group-based confirmation feedback based on whether the first new confirmation feedback indicator is different from the previous new confirmation feedback indicator associated with the previous group-based confirmation feedback. In some cases, the subsequent group-based confirmation feedback is formatted relative to the first group-based confirmation feedback based on whether the subsequent new confirmation feedback indicator is different from the second new confirmation feedback indicator. In some cases, the first group-based confirmation feedback is formatted based on which of the first new confirmation feedback indicator or the second new confirmation feedback indicator is received earliest or latest in time. In some cases, the first group-based confirmation feedback is formatted based on which of the first new confirmation feedback indicator or the second new confirmation feedback indicator is received in the group-based confirmation feedback parameters of the majority of groups associated with the first group-based confirmation feedback.

[0235] In some cases, the downlink allocation indicator field is reset upon receiving a changed new acknowledgement feedback indicator value, and wherein a different subset of feedback information is determined for each reset of the downlink allocation indicator field. In some cases, the downlink allocation indicator field is not reset within an acknowledgement / negative acknowledgement opportunity.

[0236] In some cases, the downlink allocation indicator field of the second downlink control information format is solely applied when determining the second acknowledgement feedback.

[0237] In some cases, the first confirmation feedback includes feedback information only for downlink transmissions associated only with the first downlink control information format or only with the second downlink control information format. In some cases, the first confirmation feedback includes feedback information for downlink transmissions associated with both the first downlink control information format and the second downlink control information format. In some cases, the first confirmation feedback includes feedback information based on one or more of the following: a first codebook for downlink transmissions associated with the second downlink control information format, a second codebook for downlink transmissions associated with the second downlink control information format with a first group identifier, or a third codebook for downlink transmissions associated with the second downlink control information format with a second group identifier.

[0238] The feedback transmission manager 1125 may transmit a first group-based confirmation feedback transmission to the base station. In some examples, the feedback transmission manager 1125 may transmit only a subset of the latest feedback information associated with the most recently received new confirmation feedback indicator. In some examples, the feedback transmission manager 1125 may transmit the first group-based confirmation feedback and the second group-based confirmation feedback to the base station in the first uplink transmission. In some examples, the feedback transmission manager 1125 may transmit a combined feedback report to the base station in the first uplink transmission.

[0239] In some cases, the feedback transmission manager 1125 may transmit non-group-based confirmation feedback associated with the second non-group-based downlink transmission in the second confirmation feedback opportunity. In some examples, the feedback transmission manager 1125 may transmit group-based confirmation feedback associated with one or more of the first group-based downlink transmission or the third group-based downlink transmission in the third confirmation feedback opportunity.

[0240] The downlink transmission manager 1130 may receive one or more downlink transmissions in the first group of downlink transmissions. In some cases, the downlink transmission manager 1130 may receive one or more downlink transmissions in the second group of downlink transmissions. In some cases, the downlink transmissions in the second group of downlink transmissions may be received before the one or more downlink transmissions in the first group, and the DCI that schedules the one or more downlink transmissions in the first group of downlink transmissions may also request feedback on the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0241] In some cases, the downlink transmission manager 1130 may receive a first downlink control information transmission associated with a first group-based downlink transmission and a first confirmation feedback opportunity from a base station. In some cases, the downlink transmission manager 1130 may receive a second downlink control information transmission after the first downlink control information transmission, the second downlink control information transmission being associated with a second non-group-based downlink transmission and a second confirmation feedback opportunity. In some cases, the downlink transmission manager 1130 may receive a third downlink control information transmission after the second downlink control information transmission, the third downlink control information transmission being associated with a third group-based downlink transmission and a third confirmation feedback opportunity.

[0242] The group determination manager 1120 may determine that neither the first set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters nor the second set of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters include an explicit indication of requesting feedback for another group of downlink transmissions. In some examples, the group determination manager 1120 may determine that both the first feedback timing and the second feedback timing indicate the same uplink transmission time slot.

[0243] In some examples, the group determination manager 1120 can identify a first request field value in the first group of group-based acknowledgment feedback parameters, the first request field value indicating a request for only the first group of downlink transmissions, and a second request field value in subsequent downlink control information transmissions associated with the first group of downlink transmissions, the second request field value indicating a request for both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0244] In some examples, the group determination manager 1120 can determine that the first uplink transmission will include both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback based on the second request field value. In some examples, when an initially received request field value indicates that the first uplink transmission will include both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback, and a subsequently received request field value indicates that only one of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback or the second group-based acknowledgment feedback will be provided with the first uplink transmission, the group determination manager 1120 interrupts the group-based acknowledgment feedback determination of the first uplink transmission.

[0245] In some cases, the first downlink control information and the second downlink control information each further include a group indicator indicating that both the first downlink transmission and the second downlink transmission are in the same group of downlink transmissions.

[0246] In some cases, the most recently received request field value is used to determine whether the first uplink transmission includes both the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0247] In some cases, the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback may be sent when at least one of the first downlink control information or the second downlink control information indicates a request for both the first group of downlink transmissions and the second group of downlink transmissions.

[0248] In some cases, it is undesirable for the UE to receive different downlink control information transmissions that schedule downlink transmissions in different downlink transmission groups and for the same transmission time of the first group-based acknowledgment feedback and the second group-based acknowledgment feedback.

[0249] NFI determining component 1135 can determine that the value of the second new acknowledgment feedback indicator is different than a previous value of the second new acknowledgment feedback indicator associated with a second set of downlink transmissions in previous downlink control information transmissions from the base station.

[0250] In some examples, NFI determining component 1135 can determine that the value of the second new confirmation feedback indicator is unchanged relative to a previous value of the second new confirmation feedback indicator associated with a second set of downlink transmissions of previous downlink control information transmissions from the base station.

[0251] In some cases, the NFI determining component 1135 can determine that the NFI can be switched between the first confirmation feedback opportunity and the third confirmation feedback opportunity based on the difference between the first NFI value provided in the first downlink control information and the second NFI value provided in the third downlink control information. In some cases, it is assumed that the NFI switches between the first confirmation feedback opportunity and the third confirmation feedback opportunity.
