[0049] Detailed Description

[0050] The wireless communication system may use a cyclic prefix to mitigate inter-symbol interference - the cyclic prefix may contain a copy of the end portion of the symbol and is placed before the symbol. In some cases, the length of the initial cyclic prefix (or "special cyclic prefix") in the initial time slot (or "special time slot") of the specified interval may be increased by an additional length to align the communication resource set with the specified interval (e.g., a 0.5 millisecond interval). In some cases, as the subcarrier spacing increases, the additional length of the special cyclic prefix may remain unchanged, while the symbol length may decrease. In some examples, the additional length of the special cyclic prefix for the subcarrier spacing may be equal to or greater than half of the symbol length for the subcarrier spacing (e.g., because the subcarrier spacing reaches and exceeds 960KHz). Using a special cyclic prefix having a length equal to or greater than half of the symbol length may reduce the throughput of the wireless communication system.

[0051] In order to improve the throughput of a wireless communication system using a subcarrier spacing associated with a special cyclic prefix having a length equal to or greater than half the symbol length, a portion of the special cyclic prefix may be diverted to carry data and / or communicate a reference signal. For example, the length of the special cyclic prefix for a particular subcarrier spacing may be modified (e.g., reduced) to support the addition of one or more additional full or partial symbols at the beginning or end of a special time slot. In some cases, the length of one or more cyclic prefixes that appear after the special cyclic prefix may also be modified to support the addition of the one or more additional full or partial symbols.

[0052] In some examples, a device may select a preconfigured resource configuration for a particular subcarrier spacing that indicates a modified cyclic prefix length for a special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix. The preconfigured resource configuration may also indicate the number of symbols included in the initial time slot. In some cases, communication resources may be allocated based on a modified cyclic prefix length, an original cyclic prefix length, and / or a resource block size. In some cases, a synchronization signal (SS) block may be multiplexed with symbols prepended with a cyclic prefix having the original cyclic prefix length, but not with a cyclic prefix having the modified cyclic prefix length.

[0053] Various aspects of the present disclosure are initially described in the context of a wireless communication system. Specific examples of resource configurations and processes that support cyclic prefix assignment are subsequently described. Various aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated and described by and with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow diagrams related to cyclic prefix assignment.

[0054] Figure 1 An example of a wireless communication system supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated.

[0055] The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more base stations 105 (e.g., next-generation Node B (gNB) and / or radio head (RH)), one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a long-term evolution (LTE) network, an advanced LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, or a new radio (NR) network. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support enhanced broadband communications, ultra-reliable (e.g., mission-critical) communications, low-latency communications, communications with low-cost and low-complexity devices, or any combination thereof.

[0056] The base stations 105 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form the wireless communication system 100, and may be different forms of devices or devices with different capabilities. The base stations 105 and the UEs 115 may communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125. Each base station 105 may provide a coverage area 110 over which the UEs 115 and the base stations 105 may establish one or more communication links 125. The coverage area 110 may be an example of a geographic area over which the base stations 105 and the UEs 115 may support communication of signals according to one or more radio access technologies.

[0057] The UEs 115 may be dispersed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be stationary or mobile, or stationary and mobile at different times. The UEs 115 may be different forms of devices or devices with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some example UEs 115 are illustrated in FIG. 1. The UEs 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115, base stations 105, or network equipment (e.g., core network nodes, relay devices, integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes, or other network equipment), such as Figure 1 as shown in .

[0058] Each base station 105 may communicate with the core network 130 or with each other or both. For example, the base station 105 may interface with the core network 130 via one or more backhaul links 120 (e.g., via S1, N2, N3, or other interfaces). The base stations 105 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., directly between the base stations 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130), or directly and indirectly on the backhaul link 120 (e.g., via X2, Xn, or other interfaces). In some examples, the backhaul link 120 may be or include one or more wireless links.

[0059] One or more of the base stations 105 described herein may include or may be referred to by a person of ordinary skill in the art as a base transceiver station, a radio base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a B node, an evolved B node (eNB), a next generation B node or a gigabit B node (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a home B node, a home evolved B node, or other suitable terminology.

[0060] UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable term, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, etc. UE 115 may also include or may be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or a machine type communication (MTC) device, etc., which may be implemented in various objects such as electrical appliances or vehicles, meters, etc. UE 115 may communicate with the core network 130 via a communication link 135.

[0061] The UE 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115, which may sometimes act as relays, as well as base stations 105 and network equipment including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, relay base stations, etc. Figure 1 as shown in .

[0062] The UE 115 and the base station 105 may communicate wirelessly with each other via one or more communication links 125 on one or more carriers. The term "carrier" may refer to a set of radio frequency spectrum resources having a defined physical layer structure for supporting the communication link 125. For example, a carrier for the communication link 125 may include a portion of a radio frequency spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel may carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating carrier operations, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 may support communication with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. The UE 115 may be configured to have multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers according to a carrier aggregation configuration. Carrier aggregation may be used in conjunction with both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers.

[0063] The electromagnetic spectrum is typically subdivided into various classes, bands, channels, etc. based on frequency / wavelength. In 5G NR, two initial operating bands have been identified as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz–7.125 GHz) and FR2 (24.25 GHz–52.6 GHz). Frequencies between FR1 and FR2 are typically referred to as mid-band frequencies. Although a portion of FR1 is greater than 6 GHz, FR1 is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the “sub-6 GHz band” in various documents and articles. Similar naming issues sometimes arise with respect to FR2, which is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the “millimeter wave” band in various documents and articles, although distinct from the extremely high frequency (EHF) band (30 GHz–300 GHz) identified as the “millimeter wave” band by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

[0064] In view of the above aspects, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that if used in this article, the term "sub-6 GHz" and the like can broadly represent frequencies that can be less than 6 GHz, can be within FR1, or can include mid-band frequencies. In addition, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that if used in this article, the term "millimeter wave" and the like can broadly represent frequencies that can include mid-band frequencies, can be within FR2, or can be within the EHF band.

[0065] The signal waveform transmitted on the carrier may include multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system using MCM technology, a resource element may include a code element period (e.g., the duration of a modulation code element) and a subcarrier, where the code element period and the subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both). Thus, the more resource elements received by UE 115 and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate of UE 115 can be. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial layers may further improve the data rate or data integrity of communication with UE 115.

[0066] One or more parameter designs for a carrier may be supported, where the parameter designs may include subcarrier spacing (Δf) and cyclic prefixes. A carrier may be divided into one or more BWPs with the same or different parameter designs. In some examples, a UE 115 may be configured with multiple BWPs. In some examples, a single BWP for a carrier may be active at a given time, and communications for a UE 115 may be limited to the one or more active BWPs.

[0067] The time interval of the base station 105 or the UE 115 can be expressed as a multiple of a basic time unit, and the basic time unit can be, for example, a sampling period T s =1 / (Δf max ·N f ) seconds, where Δf max It can represent the maximum supported subcarrier spacing, and N f The maximum supported discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size may be indicated. Time intervals of the communication resources may be organized according to radio frames, each having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).

[0068] Each frame may include a plurality of consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, a frame may be divided into subframes (e.g., in the time domain), and each subframe may be further divided into a number of time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include a number of code element periods (e.g., depending on the length of the cyclic prefix added before each code element period). In some wireless communication systems 100, a time slot may be further divided into a plurality of mini-time slots containing one or more code elements. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each code element period may contain one or more (e.g., N f The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating band.

[0069] A subframe, slot, mini-slot, or symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in bursts of shortened TTIs (sTTIs)).

[0070] Physical channels may be multiplexed on a carrier according to various techniques. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed on a downlink carrier, for example, using one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) for a physical control channel may be defined by a number of symbol periods and may extend across a system bandwidth or a subset of a system bandwidth of a carrier. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a set of UEs 115. For example, one or more of the UEs 115 may monitor or search a control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates in one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. An aggregation level for a control channel candidate may refer to the number of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for transmitting control information to multiple UEs 115 and a UE-specific search space set for transmitting control information to a specific UE 115 .

[0071] In some examples, base stations 105 may be mobile and thus provide communication coverage for mobile geographic coverage areas 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same base station 105. In other examples, overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different base stations 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of base stations 105 provide coverage for various geographic coverage areas 110 using the same or different radio access technologies.

[0072] The wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low latency communication or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) or mission-critical communication. UE 115 may be designed to support ultra-reliable, low latency or critical functions (e.g., mission-critical functions). Ultra-reliable communication may include private communication or group communication, and may be supported by one or more mission-critical services (such as mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT), mission-critical video (MCVideo), or mission-critical data (MCData). Support for mission-critical functions may include prioritization of services, and mission-critical services may be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low latency, critical mission, and ultra-reliable low latency may be used interchangeably herein.

[0073] In some examples, UE 115 may also be able to communicate directly with other UE 115 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., using a peer-to-peer (P2P) or D2D protocol). One or more UEs 115 utilizing D2D communication may be within a geographic coverage area 110 of a base station 105. Other UEs 115 in such a group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105, or may not be able to receive transmissions from the base station 105 for other reasons. In some examples, each group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system, wherein each UE 115 transmits to each other UE 115 in the group. In some examples, the base station 105 facilitates the scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed between each UE 115 without involving the base station 105.

[0074] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), and the EPC or 5GC may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) for managing access and mobility, and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)) for routing packets or interconnecting to an external network. The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management of UE 115 served by a base station 105 associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be delivered via a user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to a network operator IP service 150. Operator IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.

[0075] Some network devices (such as base stations 105) may include subcomponents, such as access network entities 140, which may be examples of access node controllers (ANCs). Each access network entity 140 may communicate with each UE 115 through one or more other access network transport entities 145, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission / reception points (TRPs). Each access network transport entity 145 may include one or more antenna panels. In some configurations, the various functions of each access network entity 140 or base station 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and ANCs) or merged into a single network device (e.g., base station 105).

[0076] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands, typically in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). In general, the 300 MHz to 3 GHz region is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelengths range from about 1 decimeter to 1 meter long. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features, but these waves may penetrate various structures sufficiently for macro cells to provide service to UEs 115 located indoors. Transmissions using UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter ranges (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) than transmissions using smaller frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.

[0077] The wireless communication system 100 may utilize both licensed and unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may employ licensed assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band (such as the 5 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band). When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, devices (such as base stations 105 and UEs 115) may employ carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations in an unlicensed band may be based on a carrier aggregation configuration (e.g., LAA) in coordination with component carriers operating in a licensed band. Operations in an unlicensed spectrum may include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, among others.

[0078] The base station 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which can be used to employ technologies such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. The antennas of the base station 105 or UE 115 may be located in one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels that can support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly (such as an antenna tower). In some examples, the antennas or antenna arrays associated with the base station 105 may be located at different geographical locations. The base station 105 may have an antenna array having antenna ports of several rows and columns that the base station 105 can use to support beamforming for communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that can support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support radio frequency beamforming for signals transmitted via the antenna ports.

[0079] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a base station 105, a UE 115) to shape or steer an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals communicated via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating at a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals communicated via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each antenna element may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device, or relative to some other orientation).

[0080] The communication resources used by the wireless communication system 100 may be divided into time intervals of different lengths, where each time interval is a multiple of a basic time unit (which may be referred to as k). In some cases, the length of the basic time unit may be a function of the subcarrier spacing (which may also be referred to as Δf) supported by the wireless communication system (e.g., k may be equal to ). In some examples, the communication resources may be divided into radio frames. The radio frames may be further divided into subframes. The subframes may be further divided into time slots. And the time slots may be further divided into symbol periods including symbols and cyclic prefixes - the cyclic prefix may be placed before each symbol to achieve cyclic convolution. In order to ensure that the time slots fill the 0.5 millisecond interval, the length of a cyclic prefix in the time slot may be extended relative to other cyclic prefixes and symbol periods in the time slot and other time slots in the 0.5 millisecond interval, while the symbol length may remain constant. Thus, the length of a corresponding symbol period and the corresponding time slot may also be increased. In some cases, the first codeword is referred to as a "special codeword", the corresponding first cyclic prefix is referred to as a "special cyclic prefix", and the corresponding first time slot in the 0.5 millisecond interval is referred to as a "special time slot".

[0081] In some examples (e.g., when the subcarrier spacing is equal to 15KHz), a radio frame may extend for 10ms (also expressed as 307,200*k or 307,200k), a subframe may extend for 1ms (or 30,720k), and a slot may extend for 0.5ms (or 15,360k, where k≈32.6 nanoseconds). Thus, in some cases, two slots may be included in a subframe, and 10 subframes (and 20 slots) may be included in a radio frame. In some examples, a symbol may extend for 66.67 microseconds (or 2,048k). Thus, a slot may include seven (7) symbols and seven (7) cyclic prefixes. In some examples, to fill the length of the 0.5 millisecond interval, the length of the first cyclic prefix in the time slot (e.g., symbol 0 and symbol 7 in the subframe) can be extended by approximately 5.20 microseconds (or 160k=144k+16k), and the length of the remaining cyclic prefixes can be extended by approximately 4.68 microseconds (or 144k). Thus, the first cyclic prefix can be extended by an additional approximately 0.52 microseconds relative to the remaining cyclic prefixes. It should be understood that references to specific values, parameters, or formulas described herein are provided for illustrative purposes, and different values, parameters, or formulas not specifically mentioned herein may be used.

[0082] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may use multiple subcarrier spacings or a different subcarrier spacing than another wireless communication system. When a 30 KHz subcarrier spacing is used, the time slot may extend by 0.25 milliseconds (or 15,360k, where k≈16.3 nanoseconds). Thus, a subframe may include four time slots, and a 0.5 millisecond interval may include two time slots. For larger subcarrier spacings, a cyclic prefix that is proportionally larger than the remaining cyclic prefixes in the subframe (compared to a smaller subcarrier spacing) may be placed before a special symbol of a special time slot within a 0.5 millisecond interval. For example, in order to fill the length of a 0.5 millisecond interval when using a 30 KHz subcarrier spacing, the length of the first cyclic prefix in every two time slots (e.g., symbol 0 in the first time slot and symbol 0 in the third time slot) may extend by approximately 2.86 microseconds (or 176k=144k+32k), while the length of the remaining cyclic prefixes may extend by approximately 2.34 microseconds (or 144k). Thus, the first cyclic prefix may be extended by an additional approximately 0.52 microseconds relative to the remaining cyclic prefixes.

[0083] In some cases, the length of the special cyclic prefix used for a particular subcarrier spacing may be determined based on the following formula:

[0084]

[0085] Accordingly, as the subcarrier spacing used by the wireless communication system 100 increases, the additional length of the special cyclic prefix relative to the remaining cyclic prefixes can remain constant while the symbol length decreases. In some cases, the additional length of the special cyclic prefix can exceed half the symbol length. For example, when using a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz, the length of the symbol can be equal to 2,048 KHz, and the length of the special cyclic prefix can be equal to When a subcarrier spacing of 1,920 KHz is used, the length of a symbol may be equal to 2,048 KHz, and the length of a special cyclic prefix may be equal to And when a subcarrier spacing of 3,840KHz is used, the length of a symbol may be equal to 2,048k, and the length of a special cyclic prefix may be equal to Using a special cyclic prefix including an additional length of approximately 0.52 microseconds across all subcarrier spacings may reduce the throughput of the wireless communication system 100 .

[0086] To improve throughput of wireless communication system 100 using subcarrier spacing associated with a special cyclic prefix length that is greater than half the symbol length, a portion of the special cyclic prefix length may be diverted to carry data and / or communicate reference signals.

[0087] For example, a portion of the communication resources reserved for a special cyclic prefix may be reallocated to additional full or partial symbol periods added at the beginning or end of a special time slot. Thus, a special time slot may include additional full or partial symbols relative to other time slots in the resource configuration. In some cases, the length of the special prefix and / or other cyclic prefixes in a special time slot may be modified to support additional full or partial symbols.

[0088] In some cases, the number of samples to be acquired in a symbol period is selected for the wireless communication system 100 based on the length of the cyclic prefix in the resource configuration. For example, the ratio between the number of samples of the cyclic prefix for a symbol period and the number of samples for the symbol period may be proportional to the ratio between the length of the cyclic prefix and the length of the symbol. For example, for a cyclic prefix of length 160k and a symbol of length 2,048k (corresponding to the ratio 160k:2,048k, which simplifies to 5k:64k), the symbol period may be sampled 32 times, where five (5) samples correspond to the cyclic prefix. In some cases, the symbol period may be oversampled, such as at twice the rate. Similarly, for a cyclic prefix of length 144k and a symbol of length 2,048k (corresponding to the ratio 144k:2,048k, which simplifies to 18k:256k), the symbol period may be sampled 128 times, where 18 samples correspond to the cyclic prefix. In some cases, the number of samples to be acquired in a symbol period is limited to i 3j 5 k The set of Hamming numbers derived from any combination of , where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero.

[0089] In some cases, the base station communication manager 102 at the base station 105 can use a resource configuration for subcarrier spacing that uses a first set of cyclic prefixes having a first length (e.g., 72k) and a second set of cyclic prefixes having a second length (e.g., 144k) - for example, based on using a resource configuration that includes a special time slot with additional codewords relative to other time slots. In some examples, the number of samples to be acquired in the codeword period selected by the base station communication manager 102 is further based on a first ratio between the first cyclic prefix and the codeword in the resource configuration and a second ratio between the second cyclic prefix and the codeword in the resource configuration. For example, for the first ratio associated with the first set of cyclic prefixes and the second ratio associated with the second set of cyclic prefixes, the number of samples for the codeword period can be selected based on the greatest common divisor of the reduced codeword length and a type of pulse shaping filter used by the base station communication manager 102. For example, if a pulse shaping filter is used that oversamples the signal by a factor of 2, a number of samples equal to the greatest common factor of the simplified symbol length and one type of pulse shaping filter divided by 2 may be selected - for example, for a first simplified ratio of 9k:256k associated with a first set of cyclic prefixes and a second simplified ratio of 18k:256k associated with a second set of cyclic prefixes, the symbol period may be sampled 128 times. The UE communications manager 101 at the UE 115 may similarly use a resource configuration for subcarrier spacing that indicates a first length for the first set of cyclic prefixes and a second length for the second set of cyclic prefixes.

[0090] In some cases, the base station communication manager 102 allocates communication resources based on a cyclic prefix length in a resource configuration. That is, the base station communication manager 102 may allocate communication resources based on the number of times a symbol period is sampled, where, as discussed above, the number of samples may be based on one or more ratios between the cyclic prefix and the symbol used in the resource configuration. For example, if the number of samples acquired in a symbol period is equivalent to 128 samples, then a resource allocation unit may include 128 resource elements—a resource allocation unit may be associated with a minimum number of communication resources used to convey a transmission. In some cases, the number of resource allocation units allocated by the wireless communication system 100 is limited to from 2 i 3 j 5 k The set of Hamming numbers derived from any combination of , where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero.

[0091] In some cases, the base station communication manager 102 further allocates communication resources based on the size of the resource block - in some examples, a resource block may include twelve (12) subcarriers and seven (7) codewords (or 84 resource elements). In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 can allocate communication resources to achieve a full resource block allocation - for example, so that all communication resources in an integer number of resource blocks are allocated. In some examples, to achieve a full resource block allocation, the number of resource elements allocated can be equal to the least common multiple of the number of resource elements included in the resource allocation unit and the number of resource elements included in the resource block - for example, for a first resource allocation unit including 128 resource elements and a resource block including 84 resource elements, the second resource allocation unit can be equal to 2,688 resource elements (or In some cases, the number of resource allocation blocks allocated by the base station communication manager 102 is limited to from 2 i 3 j 5 k A set of Hamming numbers derived from any combination of , where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero. The UE communication manager 101 may similarly determine resource configuration based on the length of the cyclic prefix and / or the size of the resource block.

[0092] In some cases, the base station communication manager 102 multiplexes the SS block with one or more symbols based on the resource configuration indicated for the subcarrier spacing. For example, the base station communication manager 102 may multiplex the SS block with a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix of a specific length (e.g., 144k). In some cases, the base station 105 may suppress multiplexing the SS block with a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix having a modified length (e.g., a length different from 144k). In other cases, the base station 105 may multiplex the SS block with a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix having a modified length. The UE communication manager 101 may similarly receive the SS block on a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix of a specific length. When the SS block is multiplexed with a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix having a modified length, the UE may perform blind detection of the SS block. By multiplexing only the SS block with a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix having a specific length, the SS block may be more easily detected.

[0093] Figure 2

[0013] Aspects of a wireless communication subsystem supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated.

[0094] The wireless communication subsystem 200 may include a base station 205 and a UE 215, which may be the base station 205 and the ... Figure 1Base station 205 and UE 215 may communicate with each other via downlink 220 and uplink 230 within coverage area 210, as described above with reference to Figure 1 It should be understood that references to specific values, parameters, or formulas described in the following figures are provided for illustrative purposes, and that different values, parameters, or formulas not specifically mentioned herein may be used.

[0095] As discussed above and herein, as the subcarrier spacing used by the wireless communication system increases, the additional length of the special cyclic prefix may exceed the length of half a symbol. In order to improve the throughput of a wireless communication system using a subcarrier spacing associated with a special cyclic prefix length that exceeds half a symbol length, a portion of the special cyclic prefix length may be diverted to carry data and / or communicate a reference signal.

[0096] For example, a portion of the communication resources reserved for a special cyclic prefix may be reallocated to additional full or partial symbol periods added at the beginning or end of a special time slot. Thus, a special time slot may include additional full or partial symbols relative to other time slots in the resource configuration. In some cases, the length of the special prefix and / or other cyclic prefixes in a special time slot may be modified to support additional full or partial symbols.

[0097] In some examples (e.g., when a subcarrier spacing of 3,840 KHz is used), multiple symbols may be added to the special time slot. Based on the addition of multiple symbols to the beginning or end of the special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix and / or other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot may be modified (e.g., reduced). For example, to support the addition of two symbols and two cyclic prefixes to a special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix may first be reduced by a length equal to the combined length of the two additional symbols—e.g., the removed length may be reallocated to the new symbol. In some cases, after the length of the cyclic prefix is reduced, the length of the special cyclic prefix and other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot is equal to 144k. Next, the length of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be reduced by an amount equal to the combined length of the additional cyclic prefixes for the additional symbols—i.e., the length of each of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be reduced by an amount equal to the following value: the length of the first additional cyclic prefix (L CP,new1 ) plus the length of the second additional cyclic prefix (L CP,new2 ) divided by the number of cyclic prefixes (N) used to support the addition of additional cyclic prefixes CP ), which can also be expressed as In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix in a slot may be reduced so that the remaining length is divisible by four - for example, to support the use of a 512k FFT. Figure 3 Resource configuration associated with adding additional symbols is discussed in more detail.

[0098] In some examples (e.g., when a subcarrier spacing of 1,920 KHz is used), a symbol may be added to a special time slot. Based on adding the symbol to the beginning or end of the special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix and / or other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot may be modified (e.g., reduced). For example, to support adding a symbol and a cyclic prefix to a special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix may first be reduced by a length equal to the length of the additional symbol—e.g., the removed length may be reallocated to the new symbol. In some cases, after the length of the cyclic prefix is reduced, the length of the special cyclic prefix and other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot is equal to 144k. Next, the length of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be reduced by an amount equal to the length of the additional cyclic prefix for the additional symbol—e.g., the length of each of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be reduced by an amount equal to the length of the additional cyclic prefix (L CP,new ) divided by the number of cyclic prefixes (N) used to support the addition of additional cyclic prefixes CP ), which can also be expressed as In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix in a slot may be reduced so that the remaining length is divisible by four - for example, to support the use of a 512k FFT.

[0099] In another example (e.g., when a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz is used), a symbol may be added to a special time slot. Based on adding the symbol to the beginning or end of the special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix and / or other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot may be modified (e.g., reduced). For example, to support adding a symbol and a cyclic prefix to a special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix may first be reduced by a length equivalent to a portion of the length of the additional symbol—e.g., the removed length may be reallocated to a portion of the new symbol. In some cases, after the length of the cyclic prefix is reduced, the length of the special cyclic prefix and other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot is equal to 144k. Next, the length of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be reduced by a first amount, and the length of the additional set of subsequent cyclic prefixes may be reduced by a second amount so that the total reduction is equivalent to the combined length of the additional cyclic prefix for the additional symbol and the remaining portion of the additional symbol—i.e., the combined length of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix and each of the second set of cyclic prefixes may be reduced by an amount equivalent to the length of the additional cyclic prefix (L CP,new ) plus the remainder of the symbol (L SYM,new -1024k), which can also be expressed as L CP,new +L SYM,new -1024k.

[0100] In some cases, a third set of subsequent cyclic prefixes may be reduced by a third amount such that the total reduction is equal to the combined length of the additional cyclic prefix for the additional symbol and the remainder of the additional symbol. In some cases, after reducing the length of the cyclic prefix to support the addition of the symbol, the length of at least one cyclic prefix in the time slot may be equal to 144k. In some cases, after reducing the length of the cyclic prefix to support the addition of the symbol, the combined length of all cyclic prefixes in the special time slot may be equal to 992k. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix in the time slot may be reduced so that the remaining length is divisible by four - for example, to support the use of a 512k FFT. In this document and with at least reference to Figure 4 Resource configuration associated with adding additional symbols is discussed in more detail.

[0101] In some examples (e.g., when a subcarrier spacing of 960KHz is used), a half-symbol may be added to the special time slot. Based on the addition of the half-symbol to the beginning or end of the special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix and / or other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot may be modified (e.g., reduced). For example, in order to support the addition of a half-symbol and a cyclic prefix to a special time slot, the length of the special cyclic prefix may first be reduced by a length equal to the length of the additional half-symbol—that is, the removed length may be reallocated to the new half-symbol. In some cases, after the length of the cyclic prefix is reduced, the length of the special cyclic prefix and other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot is equal to 144k. Next, the length of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be reduced by an amount equal to the length of the additional cyclic prefix for the additional half-symbol—that is, the length of each of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be reduced by an amount equal to the following value: the length of the additional cyclic prefix (L CP,14 ) divided by the number of cyclic prefixes (N) used to support the addition of additional cyclic prefixes CP ), which can also be expressed as In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix in a slot may be reduced so that the remaining length is divisible by four - for example, to support the use of a 512k FFT. Figure 5 The resource configuration associated with adding additional half-symbols is discussed in more detail.

[0102] In some examples (e.g., when a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz is used), no half symbols or full symbols may be added to the special time slot. In some cases, when no additional symbols are added, the length of the special cyclic prefix and / or other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot may be modified. For example, in order to allocate the additional length of the special cyclic prefix, the length of the special cyclic prefix is first reduced by an amount equal to the length of the additional portion of the special cyclic prefix. In some cases, after the length of the cyclic prefix is reduced, the length of the special cyclic prefix and other cyclic prefixes in the special time slot is equal to 144k. Next, the length of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be increased by an amount equal to the length of the additional portion of the special cyclic prefix - for example, the length of each of the special cyclic prefix and at least one subsequent cyclic prefix may be increased by an amount equal to the following value: the length of the additional portion of the special cyclic prefix (L CP,spec -144k) divided by the number of cyclic prefixes (N) used to support adding additional cyclic prefixes CP ), or In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix in a time slot may be increased so that the remaining length is divisible by four - for example, to support the use of a 512k FFT. Figure 6Resource configuration associated with allocating additional portions of a cyclic prefix without adding additional half-symbols or full symbols is discussed in greater detail.

[0103] In some cases, the base station 205 and the UE 215 can communicate based at least in part on the subcarrier spacing configured by the base station 205. In some cases, the base station 205 selects a resource configuration for communicating with the UE 215 based on the configured subcarrier spacing. For example, the base station 205 can select a resource configuration with a special time slot that includes an additional half-symbol, an additional symbol, or additional symbols relative to other time slots. In some cases, the selected resource configuration may include cyclic prefixes of different lengths, for example, to support the added half-symbol or one or more complete symbols. In some cases, the base station 205 can indicate the selected resource configuration to the UE 215, for example, in PRACH signaling, RRC signaling, and / or control signaling. After selecting the resource configuration, the base station 205 can perform a downlink transmission 225 according to the resource configuration, and the UE 215 can receive the downlink transmission 225 according to the selected resource configuration. Similarly, UE 215 may perform uplink transmission 235 according to the selected resource configuration, and base station 205 may receive uplink transmission 235 according to the selected resource configuration.

[0104] In other cases, the base station 205 may reallocate the communication resources reserved for the special cyclic prefix according to one of the above resource configurations. That is, after identifying the subcarrier spacing and the special cyclic prefix length used for communication, the base station 205 may reallocate the communication resources reserved for the special cyclic prefix to the added half symbol or (s) full symbol. In some cases, the base station 205 may also reallocate the communication resources reserved for the subsequent cyclic prefix to support the added half symbol or (s) full symbol. After reallocating the communication resources, the base station 205 may perform downlink transmission 225 according to the reallocated communication resources. In some cases, the UE 215 may similarly reallocate the communication resources reserved for the special cyclic prefix and / or the subsequent cyclic prefix, and perform uplink transmission 235 to the base station 205 according to the reallocated communication resources.

[0105] In some cases, the base station 205 may also allocate communication resources to the UE 215 based on the selected resource configuration. That is, the base station 205 may allocate communication resources based on the length of the cyclic prefix and the symbol period included in the selected resource configuration, as discussed herein. In some cases, the number of resource elements included in the resource allocation unit may be selected from 2 i 3 j 5 kWhere i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero. In some cases, the number of resource allocation units allocated by the base station 205 can be selected from 2 i 3 j 5 k Where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero. In other cases, the base station 205 can further allocate communication resources based on the size of the resource block. That is, the base station 205 can allocate a number of resource allocation units that fill an integer number of resource blocks, as discussed herein. In some cases, the number of resource blocks allocated by the base station 205 can be selected from 2 i 3 j 5 k A digital sequence obtained by any combination of , where i, j, and k are integers greater than or equal to zero.

[0106] In some cases, the base station 205 may multiplex the symbols with the SS blocks. In some cases, the base station 205 may multiplex the SS blocks with the symbols prepended with a cyclic prefix of a specific length (e.g., 144k). Thus, in some cases, the base station 205 may multiplex the SS blocks with one or more symbols or symbol portions included in the special slot, or may not multiplex the SS blocks with any symbols in the special slot.

[0107] Figure 3 Various aspects of resource configuration supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated.

[0108] Resource configuration 300 may indicate (e.g., to a base station and / or UE) how data transmissions are mapped to (or how data transmissions are mapped to) communication resources for a subcarrier spacing (e.g., 3,840 KHz). In some cases, resource configuration 300 may indicate how many symbols are included in a data transmission (e.g., 16 symbols), the length of a particular cyclic prefix, the length of a symbol (e.g., 2,048 k), the length of a slot (e.g., 30,720 k), etc. It should be understood that references to specific values, parameters, or formulas described herein are provided for illustrative purposes, and different values, parameters, or formulas not specifically mentioned herein may be used. Resource configuration 300 may include a slot period 305, a first symbol length 310, and a second symbol length 315.

[0109] The slot cycle 305 may indicate the duration of a slot for a particular subcarrier spacing. For example, for a subcarrier spacing of 3,840 KHz, the duration of the slot cycle 305 may be equal to When a subcarrier spacing of 3,840 KHz is used, 128 time slots may be included in a given interval (eg, a 0.5 millisecond interval).

[0110] In some cases, the slot cycle 305 may represent the resource configuration of a special time slot—for example, the slot cycle 305 may be the first time slot in a specified interval. In some cases, the slot cycle 305 may be longer than the remaining slot cycles in the specified interval. The slot cycle 305 may also indicate the number of symbols included in the slot cycle 305, where the number of symbols may correspond to the number of symbol periods included in the slot cycle 305. In some cases, the slot cycle 305 includes 16 symbols (e.g., N+2=15), while the other slot cycles in the specified interval include 14 symbols (e.g., N=13).

[0111] The first symbol length 310 may indicate a duration for transmitting a symbol and a corresponding cyclic prefix for a configured subcarrier spacing during a symbol period. In some cases, the first symbol length 310 indicates a configuration of a special symbol period and at least one subsequent symbol period. For example, the first symbol length 310 may indicate a length of symbol period_0 320 to symbol period_M 325.

[0112] The second symbol length 315 may similarly indicate the duration for transmitting symbols and corresponding cyclic prefixes for the configured subcarrier spacing during a symbol period. In some cases, the second symbol length 315 may represent the configuration of a normal (or non-special) symbol period. For example, the second symbol length 315 may indicate the length of symbol period_M+1 330 to symbol period_N+2 345. In some cases, the second symbol length 315 may also represent the configuration of the remaining symbol periods in the specified interval - that is, the symbol periods in other time slot periods included in the specified interval may be configured according to the second symbol length 315.

[0113] The slot period 305 may include symbol period_0 320 to symbol period_N+2 345. Symbol period_0 320 may be the first symbol period in the slot period 305 and may be referred to as a special symbol period. Symbol period_0 320 may have a length equal to the duration of the first symbol length 310. In some cases, symbol period_0 320 may include a first cyclic prefix 350 and a first symbol 355.

[0114] The first cyclic prefix 350 may be configured to mitigate inter-symbol interference. In some cases, the first cyclic prefix 350 may include a copy of the end portion of the first symbol 355 - for example, to implement a cyclic convolution technique. In some cases, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 is based on the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 350 and the length of the added symbol: symbol period_N+1 340 and symbol period_N+2 345. For example, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 may be based on reducing the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 350 to support the addition of the added symbol. In some cases, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 is further based on reducing the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 350 and / or subsequent cyclic prefixes (e.g., until symbol period_M 325) to fully support the addition of the added symbol. The first symbol 355 may be configured to convey information. In some cases, the length of the first symbol 355 (e.g., 2,048k) is the same as the length of the remaining symbols in the slot period 305 and the symbols in the remaining slot periods in the designated interval.

[0115] Symbol period_M+1 330 may have a length equivalent to the duration of second symbol length 315. Symbol period_M+1 330 may be a normal symbol period and may similarly include a second cyclic prefix 360 and a second symbol 365. Second cyclic prefix 360 may be similarly configured to mitigate inter-symbol interference and implement cyclic convolution techniques. In some cases, symbol period_M+1 330 to symbol period_N+2 345 include cyclic prefixes of the same length as second cyclic prefix 360. Second symbol 365 may be configured to convey information. In some cases, the length of second symbol 365 may be equal to the length of first symbol 355.

[0116] Symbol period_N 335 may be the Nth symbol in slot period 305. In some cases, the remaining slot periods in the specified interval include N symbols. In some cases, slot period 305 includes two additional symbols (symbol period_N+1 340 and symbol period_N+2 345) relative to the remaining slot periods.

[0117] In some examples, the length of the second cyclic prefix 360 is equal to 144k. In some cases, the length of the second cyclic prefix 360 is the same as the remaining cyclic prefixes in the remaining time slot periods including the time slot period 305 as the 0.5 millisecond time slot of the first time slot. In some cases, the SS block can be multiplexed with a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix having the same length as the second cyclic prefix 360. In addition, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 can be based on the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 350 and the lengths of the symbol period_N+1 340 and the symbol period_N+2 345.

[0118] In some examples (e.g., if a subcarrier spacing of 3,840 KHz is used), the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 may be calculated to be equal to 4,240 k, which may be further decomposed into a length of 144 k and an additional length of 4,096 k. Additionally, the length of the symbol period_N+1 340 may be equal to 2,192 k, and the length of the symbol period_N+2 345 may be equal to 2,192 k, wherein the length of the corresponding cyclic prefix may be equal to 144 k, and the length of the corresponding symbol may be equal to 2,048 k.

[0119] In some cases, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 350 may be reallocated to symbol period_N+1 340 and symbol period_N+2 345 - i.e., the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 350 may be reduced to fit the additional symbol periods within the slot period 305. After reallocating the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 350, symbol periods_0 320 through symbol period_N+2 345 may not fit within the slot period 305 - e.g., these symbol periods may have a length that exceeds the length of the slot period by up to 288k=4,384k-4,096k. Thus, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 350 and the length of at least one subsequent cyclic prefix (e.g., symbol period_M 325) may be reduced by a combined length of 288k to fit the additional symbol periods within the slot period 305. In some cases, the lengths of the remaining cyclic prefixes for symbol period_0 320 and the cyclic prefixes calculated for subsequent symbol periods (up to and including symbol period_M 325) may be reduced by the same amount. For example, if M=2, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 (the cyclic prefix for symbol period_1, and the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M 325) may be reduced by 96k (i.e., 288k / 3) so that the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equivalent to 48k.

[0120] More generally, the remaining length of the first cyclic prefix 350 for symbol period_0 320 and the cyclic prefix for subsequent symbol periods (up to and including symbol period_M 325) may be reduced by In the example of M=3, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 72k. In the example of M=5, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 96k. In the example of M=7, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 108k. In the example of M=8, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 112k. And in the example of M=11, the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 120k.

[0121] In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M+1 330 to symbol period_N+2 345 is equal to 144k. By using a cyclic prefix of length 144k, the symbol period can support control signaling, such as SS blocks or reference signals. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix included in symbol period_0 320 up to and including symbol period_M 325 can be equal to a value that is a multiple of four. By using a cyclic prefix of length that is a multiple of four, the received signal can be scaled down to support a 512k FFT.

[0122] In some cases, the base station may reallocate the length of the cyclic prefix itself based on calculating the length of the additional symbols and performing an operation to reallocate a portion of the communication resources reserved for the cyclic prefix to the additional symbols. Similarly, the UE may determine the reallocation of resources based on calculating the length of the additional symbols and the length of the special cyclic prefix. In other cases, the base station may select a preconfigured resource configuration corresponding to resource configuration 300 - that is, the base station may select a previously reallocated resource configuration that reflects the cyclic prefix calculated for the special symbol.

[0123] In some cases, the base station may allocate resources based on the arrangement of the resource configuration 300 for the subcarrier spacing of 3,840 KHz. For example, the base station may allocate communication resources based on the length of the first cyclic prefix 350, the length of the second cyclic prefix 360, and the symbol length within and outside the time slot period 305. For example, the base station may select the number of samples of the symbol period based on a first ratio between the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 and the symbol and a second ratio between the length of the second cyclic prefix 360 and the symbol. That is, the base station may select the number of samples based on the greatest common divisor of a simplified version of the first ratio and the second ratio. In some cases, the selected number of samples may correspond to the number of resource elements included in the resource allocation unit. In some cases, the selected number of samples and the number of resources included in the resource allocation unit may be selected from the calculation 2 i 3 j 5 k A digital sequence derived from , where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero. In some cases, the base station may further allocate communication resources according to an integer multiple of the resource allocation unit (which may be represented as X), where X is the integer multiple of the resource allocation unit calculated from 2 i 3 j 5 k Derived from , where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero. Low complexity DFT can be utilized by selecting the number of samples based on the length of the cyclic prefix and the number of samples and resource elements from the sequence.

[0124] In some cases, the base station may further allocate communication resources based on the number of resource elements in the resource block. For example, the base station may allocate communication resources including a number of resource elements equal to the least common multiple of the number of resource elements included in the resource allocation unit and the number of resource elements included in the resource block. By selecting a number of resource elements equal to the least common multiple of the number of resource elements included in the resource allocation unit and the resource allocation block, the base station may ensure that the resource allocation fills an integer number of resource blocks. In some cases, the number of resource blocks included in the resource allocation may be selected from the calculation of 2 i 3 j 5 k A derived digital sequence where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to 0. By selecting the number of resource blocks according to this sequence, a low complexity DFT can be utilized.

[0125] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 2, the first cyclic prefix 350 is equal to 48k, and the second cyclic prefix 360 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 320 is equal to 3:128, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 330 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 64 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in the slot period 305, and the resource allocation unit may include 64 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources according to the resource allocation unit. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources according to an integer multiple of the resource allocation unit (which may be represented as X), where X is the number of resource elements calculated from 2 i 3 j 5 k Derived from , where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero. In other cases, the base station can allocate communication resources by selecting a number of resource blocks that include an integer number of resource allocation units—for example, by calculating the least common multiple of the number of resource elements in a resource block and the number of resource elements in a resource allocation unit divided by the number of resource elements in the resource block. For example, the base station can select 16 (i.e., ) resource blocks (which can be expressed as Y) to allocate communication resources, where Y is calculated from 2 i 3 j 5 k Derived from, where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero.

[0126] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 3 (i.e., if symbol period_M is the third symbol period), the first cyclic prefix 350 is equal to 72k, and the second cyclic prefix 360 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 320 is equal to 9:256, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 330 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 128 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in a time slot period 305, and a resource allocation unit may include 128 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources in X resource allocation units. In other cases, the base station may allocate 32 (i.e., )’s communication resources in Y times of resource blocks.

[0127] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 5, the first cyclic prefix 350 is equal to 96k, and the second cyclic prefix 360 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 320 is equal to 3:64, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 330 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 64 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in a slot period 305, and a resource allocation unit may include 64 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources in X resource allocation units. In other cases, the base station may allocate 16 (i.e., )’s communication resources in Y times of resource blocks.

[0128] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 7, the first cyclic prefix 350 is equal to 108k, and the second cyclic prefix 360 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 320 is equal to 27:512, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 330 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 256 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in a slot period 305, and a resource allocation unit may include 256 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources in X resource allocation units. In other cases, the base station may allocate 64 (i.e., )’s communication resources in Y times of resource blocks.

[0129] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 8, the first cyclic prefix 350 is equal to 112k, and the second cyclic prefix 360 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 320 is equal to 7:128, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 330 is equal to 9:128.

[0130] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 11, the first cyclic prefix 350 is equal to 120k, and the second cyclic prefix 360 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 320 is equal to 15:256, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 330 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 128 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in a slot period 305, and a resource allocation unit may include 128 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources in X resource allocation units. In other cases, the base station may allocate 32 (i.e., )’s communication resources in Y times of resource blocks.

[0131] Table 1 shows example resource allocations in the case of M=2, 5, or 8, where 70% of the bandwidth (e.g., 540 MHz, 1,080 MHz, or 2,160 MHz) may be occupied. As shown in Table 1, if the base station allocates resources to fill an integer number of resource blocks, the available resource allocations may be limited to instances where Y is equal to 1 or 2.

[0140] In some cases, the base station multiplexes the SS blocks with symbols in a portion of the symbol periods included in the slot period 305. For example, the base station may multiplex the SS blocks with symbols in symbol periods _M+1 330 to symbol periods _N+2 345 based on the length of the cyclic prefix included in these symbol periods. For example, the base station may multiplex the plurality of SS blocks with symbols in symbol periods _M+1 330 to symbol periods _N+2 345 based on the length of the second cyclic prefix 360 being equal to 144k. In some cases, the base station may refrain from multiplexing the SS blocks with symbols in symbol periods _0 320 to symbol periods _M 325 - for example, based on the length of the first cyclic prefix 350 being different from 144k.

[0141] although Figure 3 The above discussion discusses adding two symbol periods at the end of the slot period 305, but the above discussion and calculations may also be applicable if two symbol periods are added at the beginning of the slot period 305. That is, to support adding the first and second symbol periods to the beginning of the slot period 305, the lengths of the first cyclic prefix 350 and the M-1 subsequent cyclic prefixes may be reduced as discussed above to support adding two symbol periods—for example, if M=3, the lengths of the first cyclic prefix 350, the second cyclic prefix, and the Mth cyclic prefix may be equivalent to 48k. After reducing the lengths of the cyclic prefixes, the first and second symbol periods may be added at the beginning of the slot period 305.

[0142] Figure 4 Various aspects of resource configuration supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated.

[0143] Resource configuration 400 may indicate (e.g., to a base station and / or UE) how data transmissions are mapped to (or how data transmissions are mapped to) communication resources for a subcarrier spacing (e.g., 1,920 KHz). In some cases, resource configuration 400 may indicate how many symbols are included in a data transmission (e.g., 15 symbols), the length of a particular cyclic prefix, the length of a symbol (e.g., 2,048k), the length of a time slot (e.g., 30,720k), etc. It should be understood that references to specific values, parameters, or formulas described herein are provided for illustrative purposes, and different values, parameters, or formulas not specifically mentioned herein may be used. Resource configuration 400 may include a time slot period 405, a first code element length 410, and a second code element length 415. The time slot period 405 may indicate the duration of a time slot for a particular subcarrier spacing. For example, for a subcarrier spacing of 1,920 KHz, the duration of the time slot period 405 may be equivalent to When a subcarrier spacing of 1,920 KHz is used, 64 time slots may be included in a given interval (eg, a 0.5 millisecond interval).

[0144] In some cases, the slot cycle 405 may represent the resource configuration of a special time slot - for example, the slot cycle 405 may be the first time slot in the specified interval. In some cases, the slot cycle 405 may be longer than the remaining slot cycles in the specified interval. The slot cycle 405 may also indicate the number of symbols included in the slot cycle 405, where the number of symbols may correspond to the number of symbol periods included in the slot cycle 405. In some cases, the slot cycle 405 includes 15 symbols (e.g., N+1=14), while the other slot cycles in the specified interval include 14 symbols (e.g., N=13).

[0145] The first symbol length 410 may indicate a duration for transmitting a symbol for a configured subcarrier spacing and a corresponding cyclic prefix during a symbol period. In some cases, the first symbol length 410 indicates a configuration of a special symbol period and at least one subsequent symbol period. For example, the first symbol length 410 may indicate a length of symbol period_0 420 to symbol period_M 425.

[0146] The second symbol length 415 may similarly indicate the duration for transmitting symbols and corresponding cyclic prefixes for the configured subcarrier spacing during a symbol period. In some cases, the second symbol length 415 may represent the configuration of a normal (or non-special) symbol period. For example, the second symbol length 415 may indicate the length of symbol period_M+1 430 to symbol period_N+1 440. In some cases, the second symbol length 415 may also represent the configuration of the remaining symbol periods in the specified interval—that is, the symbol periods in other time slot periods included in the specified interval may be configured according to the second symbol length 415. In some cases, the SS block may be multiplexed with the symbols included in the symbol period constructed according to the second symbol length 415.

[0147] The slot period 405 may include symbol period_0 420 to symbol period_N+1 440. Symbol period_0 420 may be the first symbol period in the slot period 405 and may be referred to as a special symbol period. Symbol period_0 420 may have a length equal to the duration of the first symbol length 410. In some cases, symbol period_0 420 may include a first cyclic prefix 450 and a first symbol 455.

[0148] The first cyclic prefix 450 may be configured to mitigate inter-symbol interference. In some cases, the first cyclic prefix 450 may include a copy of the end portion of the first symbol 455 - for example, to implement a cyclic convolution technique. In some cases, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 is based on the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 450 and the length of the added symbol (e.g., symbol period_N+1 440). For example, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 may be based on reducing the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 450 to support the addition of the added symbol. In some cases, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 is further based on reducing the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 450 and / or subsequent cyclic prefixes (until symbol period_M 425) to fully support the addition of the added symbol. The first symbol 455 may be configured to convey information. In some cases, the length of the first symbol 455 (e.g., 2,048k) is the same as the length of the remaining symbols in the time slot period 405 and the symbols in the remaining time slot periods in the specified interval.

[0149] Symbol period_M+1 430 may have a length equivalent to the duration of second symbol length 415. Symbol period_M+1 430 may be a normal symbol period and may similarly include a second cyclic prefix 460 and a second symbol 465. Second cyclic prefix 460 may be similarly configured to mitigate inter-symbol interference and implement cyclic convolution techniques. In some cases, symbol period_M+1 430 to symbol period_N+2 445 include cyclic prefixes of the same length as second cyclic prefix 460. Second symbol 465 may be configured to convey information. In some cases, the length of second symbol 465 may be equal to the length of first symbol 455.

[0150] Symbol period_N 435 may be the Nth symbol in slot period 405. In some cases, the remaining slot periods in a given interval include N symbols. In some cases, slot period 405 includes additional symbols (symbol period_N+1 440) relative to the remaining slot periods.

[0151] In some examples, the length of the second cyclic prefix 460 is equal to 144k. In some cases, the length of the second cyclic prefix 460 is the same as the remaining cyclic prefixes in the remaining slot periods including the 0.5 millisecond slot of the slot period 405 as the first slot. In some cases, the SS block can be multiplexed with a symbol prepended with a cyclic prefix having the same length as the second cyclic prefix 460. In addition, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 can be based on the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 450 and the length of the symbol period_N+1440.

[0152] In some examples (e.g., if a subcarrier spacing of 1,920 KHz is used), the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 may be calculated to be equal to 2,192 k, which may be further decomposed into a length of 144 k and an additional length of 2,048 k. Furthermore, the length of the symbol period_N+1 440 may be equal to 2,192 k, where the length of the corresponding cyclic prefix may be equal to 144 k, and the length of the corresponding symbol may be equal to 2,048 k.

[0153] In some cases, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 450 may be reassigned to the symbol period_N+1 440—that is, the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 450 may be reduced to fit the additional symbol period within the slot period 405. After reassigning the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 450, symbol periods_0 420 through symbol period_N+1 445 may not fit within the slot period 405—e.g., these symbol periods may have lengths that exceed the length of the slot period by up to 144k=2,192k-2,048k. Thus, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 450 and the length of at least one subsequent cyclic prefix (e.g., symbol period_M 425) may be reduced by a combined length of 144k to fit the additional symbol period within the slot period 405. In some cases, the remaining cyclic prefix of symbol period_0 420 and the lengths of the cyclic prefixes calculated for subsequent symbol periods (up to and including symbol period_M 425) may be reduced by the same amount. For example, if M=1, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 and the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M 425 may be reduced by 72k (ie, 144k / 2) so that the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equivalent to 72k.

[0154] More generally, the remaining length of the first cyclic prefix 450 for symbol period_0 420 and the cyclic prefix for subsequent symbol periods (up to and including symbol period_M 425) may be reduced by In the example of M=2, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 96k. In the example of M=5, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 120k. In the example of M=8, the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 128k.

[0155] In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M+1 430 to symbol period_N+1 440 is equal to 144k. By using a cyclic prefix of length 144k, the symbol period can support control signaling, such as SS blocks or reference signals. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix included in symbol period_0 420 up to and including symbol period_M 425 can be equal to a value that is a multiple of four. By using a cyclic prefix of length that is a multiple of four, the received signal can be scaled down to support a 512k FFT.

[0156] In some cases, the base station may reallocate the length of the cyclic prefix itself based on calculating the length of the additional symbols and performing an operation to reallocate a portion of the communication resources reserved for the cyclic prefix to the additional symbols. Similarly, the UE may determine the reallocation of resources based on calculating the length of the additional symbols and the length of the special cyclic prefix. In other cases, the base station may select a preconfigured resource configuration corresponding to resource configuration 400 - that is, the base station may select a previously reallocated resource configuration that reflects the cyclic prefix calculated for the special symbol.

[0157] In some cases, the base station may allocate resources based on the arrangement of the resource configuration 400 for the subcarrier spacing of 1,920 KHz. For example, the base station may allocate communication resources based on the length of the first cyclic prefix 450, the length of the second cyclic prefix 460, and the symbol length within and outside the time slot period 405. For example, the base station may select the number of samples of the symbol period based on a first ratio between the length of the first cyclic prefix 450 and the symbol and a second ratio between the length of the second cyclic prefix 460 and the symbol.

[0158] In some cases, the base station may further allocate communication resources based on the number of resource elements in the resource block. In some cases, the number of resource blocks included in the resource allocation may be selected from the calculation of 2 i 3 j 5 kA derived digital sequence where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to 0. By selecting the number of resource blocks according to this sequence, a low complexity DFT can be utilized.

[0159] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 1, the first cyclic prefix 450 is equal to 72k, and the second cyclic prefix 460 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 420 is equal to 9:256, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 430 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 128 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in the time slot period 405, and the resource allocation unit may include 128 resource elements. For example, the base station can select 32 (i.e., ) resource blocks (which can be expressed as Y) to allocate communication resources, where Y is calculated from 2 i 3 j 5 k Derived from, where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero.

[0160] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 2, the first cyclic prefix 450 is equal to 96k, and the second cyclic prefix 460 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 420 is equal to 3:64, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 430 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 64 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in a time slot period 405, and a resource allocation unit may include 64 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources in X resource allocation units. In other cases, the base station may allocate 16 (i.e., )’s communication resources in Y times of resource blocks.

[0161] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 5, the first cyclic prefix 450 is equal to 120k, and the second cyclic prefix 460 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 420 is equal to 15:256, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 430 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 128 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in a slot period 405, and a resource allocation unit may include 128 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources in X resource allocation units. In other cases, the base station may allocate 32 (i.e., )’s communication resources in Y times of resource blocks.

[0162] In some examples—e.g., if M is equal to 8, the first cyclic prefix 450 is equal to 128k, and the second cyclic prefix 460 is equal to 144k—the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the first symbol period_0 420 is equal to 1:16, and the simplified ratio between the number of samples for the cyclic prefix and the number of samples for the symbol period_M+1 430 is equal to 9:128. Thus, with a 2x oversampling rate, 64 samples may be acquired for a symbol period in the slot period 405, and the resource allocation unit may include 64 resource elements. In some cases, the base station may allocate communication resources in X resource allocation units. In other cases, the base station may allocate 16 (i.e., )’s communication resources in Y times of resource blocks.

[0163] Table 4 shows an example resource allocation in the case of M=1 or 5, where 70% of the bandwidth (e.g., 540 MHz, 1,080 MHz, or 2,160 MHz) can be occupied. As shown in Table 4, if the base station allocates resources to fill an integer number of resource blocks, the available resource allocation can be limited to instances where Y is equal to 1 or 2.

[0169] In some cases, the base station may multiplex the SS blocks with symbols in the slot cycle 405 preceded by a cyclic prefix of length 144k. Figure 4 The above discussion discusses adding a symbol period at the end of the time slot period 405, but the above discussion and calculations may also be applicable if a symbol period is added at the beginning of the time slot period 405.

[0170] Figure 5 Various aspects of resource configuration supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated.

[0171] Resource configuration 500 may indicate (e.g., to a base station and / or UE) how data transmissions are mapped to (or how data transmissions are mapped to) communication resources for a subcarrier spacing (e.g., 960 KHz). In some cases, resource configuration 500 may indicate how many symbols are included in a data transmission (e.g., 15 symbols), the length of a particular cyclic prefix, the length of a symbol (e.g., 2,048k), the length of a time slot (e.g., 30,720k), etc. It should be understood that references to specific values, parameters, or formulas described herein are provided for illustrative purposes, and different values, parameters, or formulas not specifically mentioned herein may be used. Resource configuration 500 may include a time slot period 505, a first code element length 510, and a second code element length 515. The time slot period 505 may indicate the duration of a time slot for a particular subcarrier spacing. For example, for a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz, the duration of the time slot period 505 may be equivalent to When a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz is used, 32 time slots may be included in a given interval (eg, a 0.5 millisecond interval).

[0172] Resource configuration 500 may include a time slot period 505, a first symbol length 510, a second symbol length 515, a symbol period_0 520, a symbol period_M 525, a symbol period_M+1 530, a symbol period_N 535, a first cyclic prefix 550, a first symbol 555, a second cyclic prefix 560, and a second symbol 565, which may be as described in reference to Figure 4 Examples of a slot period 405, a first symbol length 410, a second symbol length 415, a symbol period_0 420, a symbol period_M 425, a symbol period_M+1 430, a symbol period_N 435, a first cyclic prefix 450, a first symbol 455, a second cyclic prefix 460, and a second symbol 465 are described.

[0173] Resource configuration 500 may also include a third symbol length 570, a third cyclic prefix 575, and a third symbol 580. The third symbol length 570 may indicate a duration for transmitting a symbol and a corresponding cyclic prefix for the configured subcarrier spacing. In some cases, the third symbol length 570 is different from the duration indicated by the first symbol length 510 and the second symbol length 515. In some cases, the length of the third cyclic prefix 575 may be different from the length of the first cyclic prefix 550 and the second cyclic prefix 560. In some cases, the length of the third symbol 580 may be equal to the first symbol 555 and the second symbol 565.

[0174] In some examples (e.g., if a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz is used), the length of the first cyclic prefix 550 may be calculated to be equal to 1,168 k, which may be further decomposed into a length of 144 k and an additional length of 1,024 k. Furthermore, the length of the symbol period_N+1 540 may be equal to 2,128 k, wherein the length of the third cyclic prefix 575 may be equal to 80 k, and the length of the corresponding symbol may be equal to 2,048 k.

[0175] In some cases, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 550 may be reassigned to the symbol period_N+1540—that is, the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 550 may be reduced to fit the additional symbol period within the slot period 505. After reassigning the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 550, the symbol periods_0 520 through the symbol period_N+1545 may not fit within the slot period 505—e.g., these symbol periods may have a length that exceeds the length of the slot period by up to 1104k=2,128k-1,024k. Thus, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 550 and the length of at least one subsequent cyclic prefix (e.g., symbol period_M 525) may be reduced by a combined length of 1104k to fit the additional symbol period within the slot period 505.

[0176] In some cases, the remaining cyclic prefix for symbol period_0 520 and the length of the cyclic prefix calculated for subsequent symbol periods (up to and including symbol period_M 525) may each be reduced by a first amount. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix calculated for symbol period_M+1 530 through symbol period_N 535 (including second cyclic prefix 560) may also be reduced by a second amount to fit the additional symbol periods within the slot period 505. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefixes for symbol period_0 520 through symbol period_N 535 may be reduced until the combined length of the cyclic prefixes is equal to 912k, and the total length of the cyclic prefixes for symbol period_0 520 through symbol period_N+1 540 may be reduced until the combined length of the cyclic prefixes is equal to 992k. In some examples, where M is equal to 3, the length of the cyclic prefix used for code period 0 520 to code period M can be equal to 48k, the length of the cyclic prefix used for code period M+1530 to code period N can be equal to 72k, and the length of the cyclic prefix used for code period N+1540 can be equal to 80k.

[0177] In another example, the length of symbol period_N+1 540 may be equal to 2,192k, wherein the length of the third cyclic prefix 575 may be equal to 144k, and the length of the corresponding symbol may be equal to 2,048k. In some examples, to support additional symbols, where M is equal to 11, the length of the cyclic prefix for symbol period_0 520 to symbol period_M may be equal to 52k, the length of the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M+1 530 to symbol period_N-1 may be equal to 80k, and the length of the cyclic prefix for symbol period_N 535 and symbol period_N+1 540 may be equal to 144k. By using a length of 144k for the third cyclic prefix 575, the base station may multiplex the SS block with symbol period_N+1 540.

[0178] As suggested above, the length of the cyclic prefix may be reduced to form any combination that results in a total length of the cyclic prefix summing to 992k, thereby supporting the addition of symbols. In some cases, more than three different lengths may be used for the cyclic prefix in the slot period 505. For example, where M is equal to 9, a first cyclic prefix length of 48k may be used for symbol period_0 520 to symbol period_M 525; a second cyclic prefix length of 72k may be used for symbol period_M+1 530 and symbol period_M+2; a third cyclic prefix length of 80k may be used for symbol period_M+3; and a fourth cyclic prefix length of 144k may be used for symbol period_N 535 and symbol period_N+1 540. In another example, where M is equal to 9, a first cyclic prefix length of 48k may be used for symbol period_0 520 to symbol period_M 525; a second cyclic prefix length of 96k may be used for symbol period_M+1 530 and symbol period_M+3; a third cyclic prefix length of 80k may be used for symbol period_N 535; and a fourth cyclic prefix length of 144k may be used for symbol period_N+1 540.

[0179] In another example, where M is equal to 7, a first cyclic prefix length of 48k may be used for symbol period_0 520 to symbol period_M 525; a second cyclic prefix length of 72k may be used for symbol period_M+1 530 and symbol period_M+4; a third cyclic prefix length of 80k may be used for symbol period_N-1; a fourth cyclic prefix length of 96k may be used for symbol period_N 535; and a fifth cyclic prefix length of 144k may be used for symbol period_N+1 540. In another example, where M is equal to 8, a first cyclic prefix length of 48k may be used for symbol period_0 520 to symbol period_M 525; a second cyclic prefix length of 72k may be used for symbol period_M+1 530 and symbol period_M+2; a third cyclic prefix length of 80k may be used for symbol period_M+3; a fourth cyclic prefix length of 96k may be used for symbol period_N-1 and symbol period_N 535; and a fifth cyclic prefix length of 144k may be used for symbol period_N+1 540. In some cases, the lengths of the cyclic prefixes in the symbol periods within the slot period 505 may be selected to be divisible by four.

[0180] In some cases, the base station may allocate resources based on the cyclic prefix length for the slot cycle 505 using the techniques discussed herein. Additionally or alternatively, the base station may multiplex the SS blocks with symbols in the slot cycle 505 prepended with a cyclic prefix of length 144k. Figure 5The above discussion discusses adding a symbol period at the end of the time slot period 505, but if a symbol period is added at the beginning of the time slot period 505, the above discussion and calculations may also be applicable.

[0181] Figure 6 Various aspects of resource configuration supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated.

[0182] The resource configuration 600 may indicate (e.g., to a base station and / or UE) how a data transmission is mapped to (or how a data transmission is mapped to) a communication resource for a subcarrier spacing (e.g., 960 KHz). In some cases, the resource configuration 600 may indicate how many symbols are included in the data transmission (e.g., 15 symbols), the length of a particular cyclic prefix, the length of a symbol (e.g., 2,048 k), the length of a time slot (e.g., 30,720 k), etc. It should be understood that references to specific values, parameters, or formulas described herein are provided for illustrative purposes, and different values, parameters, or formulas not specifically mentioned herein may be used. The resource configuration 600 may include a time slot period 605, a first code element length 610, and a second code element length 615. The time slot period 605 may indicate the duration of a time slot for a particular subcarrier spacing. For example, for a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz, the duration of the time slot period 605 may be equivalent to When using a subcarrier spacing of 960 kHz, 32 time slots may be included in a given interval.

[0183] The resource configuration may include a time slot period 605, a first symbol length 610, a second symbol length 615, a symbol period_0 620, a symbol period_M 625, a symbol period_M+1 630, a symbol period_N 635, a first cyclic prefix 650, a first symbol 655, a second cyclic prefix 660, and a second symbol 665, which may be as described in reference Figure 5 Examples of a slot period 505, a first symbol length 510, a second symbol length 515, a symbol period_0 520, a symbol period_M 525, a symbol period_M+1 530, a symbol period_N 535, a first cyclic prefix 550, a first symbol 555, a second cyclic prefix 560, and a second symbol 565 are described.

[0184] The resource configuration may also include a third symbol length 670, a third cyclic prefix 675, and a third symbol 680. The third symbol length 670 may indicate a duration for transmitting a symbol and a corresponding cyclic prefix for the configured subcarrier spacing, which is different from the duration indicated by the first symbol length 610 and the second symbol length 615. In some cases, the length of the third cyclic prefix 675 may be equal to the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 and the second cyclic prefix 660. In some cases, the length of the third symbol 680 may be equal to half of the first symbol 655 or the second symbol 665. In some cases, the third symbol 680 may be configured to convey information and / or a reference signal.

[0185] In some examples (e.g., if a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz is used), the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 can be calculated to be equal to 1,168 k, which can be further decomposed into a length of 144 k and an additional length of 1,024 k. Moreover, the length of the symbol period_N+1 / 2685 can be equal to 1,168 k, wherein the length of the third cyclic prefix 675 can be equal to 144 k, and the length of the corresponding symbol can be equal to 1,024 k.

[0186] In some cases, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 650 may be reallocated to the symbol period_N+1 / 2685—i.e., the calculated length of the first cyclic prefix 650 may be reduced to fit the additional half-symbol period within the slot period 605. After reallocating the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 650, symbol periods_0 620 through symbol period_N+1 / 2685 may not fit within the slot period 605—e.g., these symbol periods may have a length that exceeds the length of the slot period by up to 144k=1,168k-1,024k. Thus, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 650 and the length of at least one subsequent cyclic prefix (e.g., symbol period_M 625) may be reduced by a combined length of 144k to fit the additional symbol period within the slot period 605. In some cases, the remaining cyclic prefix for symbol period_0 620 and the length of the cyclic prefix calculated for subsequent symbol periods (up to and including symbol period_M 625) may be reduced by the same amount. For example, if M=1, the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 and the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M 625 may be reduced by 72k (i.e., ), so that the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix can be equivalent to 72k.

[0187] More generally, the remaining length of the first cyclic prefix 650 for symbol period_0 620 and the cyclic prefix for subsequent symbol periods (up to and including symbol period_M 625) may be reduced by In the example of M=2, the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 96k. In the example of M=5, the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 120k. In the example of M=8, the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix may be equal to 128k.

[0188] In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M+1 630 to symbol period_N+1 / 2685 is equal to 144k. By using a cyclic prefix of length 144k, the symbol period can support control signaling, such as SS blocks or reference signals. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix included in symbol period_0 620 up to and including symbol period_M 625 can be equal to a value that is a multiple of four. By using a cyclic prefix of length that is a multiple of four, the received signal can be scaled down to support a 512k FFT.

[0189] In some cases, the base station may allocate resources based on the arrangement of resource configuration 600 for a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz. In some cases, the base station may allocate resources based on the arrangement of resource configuration 600 for a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz. Figure 4 Additionally or alternatively, the base station may multiplex the SS blocks with symbols in the slot cycle 605 preceded by a cyclic prefix of length 144k. Figure 6 The above discussion discusses adding a symbol period at the end of the time slot period 605, but the above discussion and calculations may also be applicable if a symbol period is added at the beginning of the time slot period 605.

[0190] Figure 7 Various aspects of resource configuration supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated.

[0191] The resource configuration 700 may indicate (e.g., to a base station and / or UE) how to map a data transmission to (or how a data transmission is mapped to) a communication resource for a subcarrier spacing (e.g., 960 KHz). In some cases, the resource configuration 700 may indicate how many symbols are included in the data transmission (e.g., 15 symbols), the length of a particular cyclic prefix, the length of a symbol (e.g., 2,048k), the length of a time slot (e.g., 30,720k), etc. It should be understood that references to specific values, parameters, or formulas described herein are provided for illustrative purposes, and different values, parameters, or formulas not specifically mentioned herein may be used. The resource configuration 700 may include a time slot period 705, a first code element length 710, and a second code element length 715. The time slot period 705 may indicate the duration of a time slot for a particular subcarrier spacing. For example, for a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz, the duration of the time slot period 705 may be equivalent to When a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz is used, 32 time slots may be included in a given interval (eg, a 0.5 millisecond interval).

[0192] Resource configuration 700 may include a slot period 705, a first symbol length 710, a second symbol length 715, a symbol period_0 720, a symbol period_M 725, a symbol period_M+1 730, a symbol period_N 735, a first cyclic prefix 750, a first symbol 755, a second cyclic prefix 760, and a second symbol 765, which may be as described in reference to Figure 6 Examples of a slot period 605, a first symbol length 610, a second symbol length 615, a symbol period_0 620, a symbol period_M 625, a symbol period_M+1 630, a symbol period_N 635, a first cyclic prefix 650, a first symbol 655, a second cyclic prefix 660, and a second symbol 665 are described.

[0193] In some cases, Figures 3 to 6 Differently, no additional half-symbols or full-symbols may be added to the time slot period 705 relative to other time slot periods within the specified interval. In some examples (e.g., if a subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz is used), the length of the first cyclic prefix 750 may be calculated to be equal to 1,168k, which may be further decomposed into a length of 144k and an additional length of 1,024k. In some cases, the additional length of the first cyclic prefix 750 may be reallocated between the first cyclic prefix 750 and the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M 625. For example, if M is equal to 3, the additional length may be allocated among four cyclic prefixes so that the length of subsequent symbol periods (including symbol period_M 625) may be increased by 256k (i.e., ), and the length of the first cyclic prefix can be reduced by 768k (ie, ). Thus, the first cyclic prefix 750 and subsequent cyclic prefixes may each have a length of 400k.

[0194] More generally, the length of the first cyclic prefix 750 for symbol period_0 720 may be reduced to And the length of the subsequent symbol period can be increased In the example of M=7, the length of the first cyclic prefix 650 up to and including the Mth cyclic prefix for symbol period_M 625 may be equal to 272k. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix for symbol period_M+1 730 to symbol period_N 735 may be equal to 144k. By using a cyclic prefix of length 144k, the symbol period may support control signaling, such as an SS block or a reference signal. In some cases, the length of the cyclic prefix included in symbol period_0 720 up to and including symbol period_M 725 may be equal to a value that is a multiple of four. By using a cyclic prefix of length that is a multiple of four, the received signal may be scaled down to support a 512k FFT.

[0195] Figure 8

[0013] Various aspects of a process for cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated.

[0196] Process flow 800 may be performed by base station 805 and UE 815, which may be the same as those described above with reference to Figure 1 and 2 Examples of described base stations or UEs. In some examples, process flow 800 illustrates operations for indicating resource configuration for communication between base stations 805 based on configured subcarrier spacing.

[0197] At 820, the base station 805 may configure or be configured for subcarrier spacing (e.g., subcarrier spacing of 960 KHz, 1,920 KHz, or 3,840 KHz). In some cases, the base station 805 selects the subcarrier spacing—e.g., based on measured or predicted channel conditions. In some cases, the base station 805 is programmed by an operator to use a specific subcarrier spacing.

[0198] At 825, the base station 805 may determine a resource configuration based on the configured subcarrier spacing. In some cases, the base station 805 may determine that a first set of resource configurations may be used for a first subcarrier spacing, a second set of resource configurations may be used for a second subcarrier spacing, a third set of resource configurations may be used for a third subcarrier spacing, and so on. In some cases, the resource configuration indicates the length of the cyclic prefix included in the time slot. In some examples, the resource configuration indicates a first set of cyclic prefix lengths for a first time slot in a specified interval (which may be referred to as a "special time slot") and a second set of cyclic prefix lengths for the remaining time slots in the specified interval. In some cases, the resource configuration also indicates the number of symbols included in the time slot. In some examples, the resource configuration indicates that the special time slot includes a first number of symbols, and the remaining time slots in the specified interval include a second number of symbols. In some cases, the first number of symbols is greater than the second number of symbols. For example, the first number of symbols may include two additional symbols, one additional symbol, or half of an additional symbol. In some cases, the base station 805 may select a predetermined resource configuration that reflects that a portion of the length of the special cyclic prefix is reallocated to additional half-symbols or full symbols. Figures 3 to 7 The available resource configuration discussed may be used to select a resource configuration for subcarrier spacing.

[0199] At 830, the base station 805 may indicate the configured subcarrier spacing to the UE 815. In some cases, the UE 815 may determine the resource configuration used by the base station 805 based on the received subcarrier spacing. For example, the UE 815 may determine that the base station 805 is using a specific resource configuration based on determining that the base station 805 is using 960KHz subcarrier spacing. In some cases, the base station 805 may also indicate the selected resource configuration to the UE 815. In some examples, the indicated resource configuration may indicate the length of the cyclic prefix used for the special time slot and the length of the cyclic prefix used for the remaining time slots in the specified interval and the number of symbols included in the special time slot and the remaining time slots. In some cases, indicating the resource configuration includes: explicitly indicating the length of the first group of cyclic prefixes and the second group of cyclic prefixes used for the special time slot, and explicitly indicating the number of symbols included in the special time slot.

[0200] In other cases, indicating the resource configuration includes indicating a subcarrier spacing and a value corresponding to a specific resource configuration. For example, to indicate a predetermined resource configuration including a special time slot with additional codewords, two cyclic prefixes of length 72k, and a remaining cyclic prefix of length 144k, the base station 805 can indicate that a subcarrier spacing of 960KHz is being used and a binary value of "00" can be transmitted. For example, to indicate a predetermined resource configuration including a special time slot with additional codewords, three cyclic prefixes of length 96k, and a remaining cyclic prefix of length 144k, the base station 805 can indicate that a subcarrier spacing of 960KHz is being used and a binary value of "01" can be transmitted. After receiving an indication of the subcarrier spacing and resource configuration, the UE 815 can identify the predetermined resource configuration corresponding to the received value for the subcarrier spacing (e.g., using a lookup table). If only one predetermined resource configuration is configured for the subcarrier spacing, the UE 815 can identify the resource configuration based solely on receiving the configured subcarrier spacing.

[0201] At 835, UE 815 may similarly determine the resource configuration based on the subcarrier spacing and / or the indicated resource configuration. Determining the resource configuration may include determining the length of the symbol and the cyclic prefix and the number of symbols included in one or more time slots. In some cases, determining the resource configuration may include determining that a first number of symbols are included in a special time slot and a second number of symbols are included in other time slots. In some cases, determining the resource configuration may also include determining that the length of the cyclic prefix in the special time slot is different from the length of the cyclic prefix included in other time slots. In some cases, determining the resource configuration may include determining the number of time slots included in a specified interval (e.g., a 0.5 ms interval). In some cases, determining the resource configuration may include identifying a predetermined resource configuration based on the indicated subcarrier spacing and / or resource configuration.

[0202] At 840, the base station 805 may determine a resource allocation for the UE 815, as described herein and with reference to Figures 3 to 7 In some cases, resource allocation is based on the cyclic prefix length used for symbols in special time slots and normal time slots. In some cases, resource allocation is further based on the size of resource blocks. Resource allocation can also be based on selecting a resource allocation unit, which includes selecting from the calculation of 2 i 3 j 5 k The number of resource elements and / or resource blocks selected in the derived digital sequence, where i, j, k are integers greater than or equal to zero.

[0203] At 845, the base station 805 and the UE 815 may perform communications to exchange data. In some cases, performing communications includes indicating, by the base station 805, resource allocations for the UE 815. In some cases, indicating resource allocations includes indicating a downlink assignment of communication resources or an uplink grant of communication resources. After or concurrently with indicating resource allocations, the base station 805 and the UE 815 may communicate on the allocated communication resources.

[0204] At 850, the base station 805 may transmit one or more SS blocks to the UE 815. In some cases, the base station 805 may multiplex the SS blocks with symbols prepended with a cyclic prefix of length 144k. In some cases, all symbols in a normal time slot are prepended with a cyclic prefix of length 144k. Thus, the base station 805 may multiplex the SS blocks with any symbol in a normal time slot. In some cases, a portion of the symbols in a special time slot are prepended with a cyclic prefix of length 144k. Thus, the base station 805 may multiplex the SS blocks with a portion of the symbols in a special time slot. In some cases, no symbol in a special time slot is prepended with a cyclic prefix of length 144k. Thus, the base station 805 may refrain from multiplexing the SS blocks with any symbol in a special time slot.

[0205] In some cases, some of the operations discussed above may be omitted or performed in accordance with Figure 8 For example, in some cases, the base station 805 may indicate the subcarrier spacing before determining the resource configuration, and the UE 815 may determine the resource configuration before or concurrently with the base station 805 determining the resource configuration.

[0213] The transmitter 920 may transmit signals generated by other components of the device 905. In some examples, the transmitter 920 may be co-located with the receiver 910 in a transceiver module. For example, the transmitter 920 may be a reference Fig.11 and 12 Examples of aspects of the described transceiver 1120 or 1220. The transmitter 920 may utilize a single antenna or a collection of antennas.

[0214] Fig.10 A block diagram 1000 of a communication manager 1005 supporting cyclic prefix assignment in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The communication manager 1005 can be an example of aspects of the communication manager 915 or the communication manager 1110 described herein. The communication manager 1005 can include a subcarrier configuration component 1010, a resource configuration component 1015, a resource mapping component 1020, an SS block component 1025, a resource indication component 1030, and a resource allocation component 1035. Each of these modules can communicate directly or indirectly with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).

[0215] Subcarrier configuration component 1010 can configure subcarrier spacing for performing wireless communications.

[0216] The resource configuration component 1015 can identify, for an initial time slot of a periodic interval, a number of symbols included in the initial time slot, a first length of a first set of cyclic prefixes for a first set of symbols of the initial time slot, and a second length of a second set of cyclic prefixes for a second set of symbols of the initial time slot, wherein the first length of the first set of cyclic prefixes is based at least in part on a cyclic prefix length calculated for the initial symbols of the initial time slot, wherein the calculated cyclic prefix length is different from the first length of the first set of cyclic prefixes and is based at least in part on a subcarrier spacing. In some cases, the first length of the first set of cyclic prefixes and the second length of the second set of cyclic prefixes are based at least in part on an allocation of the calculated cyclic prefix lengths across the initial time slot.

[0217] In some cases, resource configuration component 1015 may receive an indication of a resource configuration indicating a first length of a first set of cyclic prefixes, a second length of a second set of cyclic prefixes, and a number of symbols included in an initial time slot. In some cases, resource configuration component 1015 may select a resource configuration based at least in part on a subcarrier spacing, wherein the resource configuration indicates a first length of a first set of cyclic prefixes for an initial time slot and a second length of a second set of cyclic prefixes for an initial time slot. In some cases, the resource configuration indicates a third length of a third set of cyclic prefixes for a third set of symbols in a second set of time slots of a periodic interval, wherein the second length of the second set of cyclic prefixes is equal to the third length of the third set of cyclic prefixes.

[0218] In some cases, the resource configuration component 1015 can identify that the periodic interval includes an initial time slot and a second group of time slots, a third length of a third group of cyclic prefixes for a third group of codewords for the second group of time slots, and a first codeword length for the first group of codewords, a second codeword length for the second group of codewords, and a third codeword length for the third group of codewords, wherein the first codeword length, the second codeword length, and the third codeword length are equal to one codeword length.

[0219] In some cases, based at least in part on the subcarrier spacing, the calculated cyclic prefix length includes a third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and the symbol length, and the resource configuration component 1015 can: identify that the initial time slot includes additional symbols relative to the second group of time slots based at least in part on the calculated cyclic prefix length; identify a fourth symbol length of the additional symbol that is equal to the symbol length; and identify a fourth length of the additional cyclic prefix for the additional symbol. In some cases, the first length of the first group of cyclic prefixes is equal to the difference between the third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and the fourth length of the additional cyclic prefix divided by the number of the first group of cyclic prefixes. In some cases, the first group of cyclic prefixes includes a plurality of cyclic prefixes, the first length of the first group of cyclic prefixes can be equally divided into four parts, and the second length of the second group of cyclic prefixes, the third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes, and the fourth length of the additional cyclic prefixes are equal.

[0220] In some cases, based at least in part on the subcarrier spacing, the calculated cyclic prefix length includes a third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and a multiple of the symbol length, and the resource configuration component 1015 can: identify that the initial time slot includes a plurality of additional symbols relative to the second group of time slots based at least in part on the calculated cyclic prefix length; identify a fourth symbol length of the plurality of additional symbols that is equal to the symbol length; and identify a fourth length of the fourth group of cyclic prefixes for the plurality of additional symbols. In some cases, the first length of the first group of cyclic prefixes is equal to the difference between the third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and the quotient obtained by dividing the combined length of the fourth group of cyclic prefixes by the number of the first group of cyclic prefixes.

[0221] In some cases, based at least in part on the subcarrier spacing, the calculated cyclic prefix length includes a third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and half the symbol length, and resource configuration component 1015 can identify that the initial time slot includes the same number of symbols relative to the second group of time slots based at least in part on the calculated cyclic prefix length. In some cases, the first length of the first group of cyclic prefixes is equal to the sum of the third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and a quotient obtained by dividing half the symbol length by the number of the first group of cyclic prefixes.

[0222] In some cases, based at least in part on the subcarrier spacing, the calculated cyclic prefix length includes a third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and half of the symbol length, and resource configuration component 1015 can: identify that the initial time slot includes additional half symbols relative to the second group of time slots based at least in part on the calculated cyclic prefix length; identify a fourth symbol length of the additional half symbols that is equal to half of the symbol length; and identify a fourth length of the additional cyclic prefix for the additional half symbols. In some cases, the first length of the first group of cyclic prefixes is equal to the difference between the third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and the quotient obtained by dividing the fourth length of the additional cyclic prefix by the number of the first group of cyclic prefixes.

[0223] In some cases, based at least in part on the subcarrier spacing, the calculated cyclic prefix length includes a third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes and half of the symbol length, and resource configuration component 1015 can: identify that the initial time slot includes additional symbols relative to the second group of time slots based at least in part on the calculated cyclic prefix length; identify a fourth symbol length of the additional symbols that is equal to the symbol length; and identify a fourth length of the additional cyclic prefix for the additional symbols. In some cases, the combined length of the first group of cyclic prefixes and the second group of cyclic prefixes is equal to the difference between the product of the third length of the third group of cyclic prefixes multiplied by the number of combinations of the first group of cyclic prefixes and the second group of cyclic prefixes, and the sum of half of the symbol length and the fourth length of the additional cyclic prefixes.

[0224] Resource mapping component 1020 can communicate data using the initial time slot based at least in part on the identified first set of cyclic prefixes and the identified second set of cyclic prefixes.

[0225] The SS block component 1025 can multiplex the synchronization signal block with the codewords in the second group of codewords based at least in part on the second length of the second group of cyclic prefixes being equal to the third length of the cyclic prefix of the third group of codewords used for the second time slot.

[0226] Resource indicating component 1030 may indicate a first length of the first set of cyclic prefixes and a second length of the second set of cyclic prefixes based at least in part on the subcarrier spacing. In some cases, resource indicating component 1030 may transmit an indication of a resource configuration for the subcarrier spacing, the resource configuration indicating the first length of the first set of cyclic prefixes and the second length of the second set of cyclic prefixes.

[0227] The resource allocation component 1035 can allocate communication resources to a user equipment (UE) based at least in part on a first length of a first set of cyclic prefixes, a second length of a second set of cyclic prefixes, a first symbol length of a first set of symbols, and a second symbol length of a second set of symbols. In some cases, the size of the resource allocation unit is based at least in part on a first relationship between the first length and the first symbol length, and a second relationship between the second length and the second symbol length. In some cases, the size of the resource allocation unit is based at least in part on half of the larger of the following two items: a first quotient obtained by dividing the first symbol length by a first greatest common divisor of the first length and the first symbol length, and a second quotient obtained by dividing the second symbol length by a second greatest common divisor of the second length and the second symbol length.

[0228] In some cases, the size of the resource allocation unit is further based at least in part on the size of the resource block. In some cases, the resource allocation unit includes a first number of resource elements, and the resource allocation component 1035 allocates a number of resource blocks, the number of resource blocks including a second number of resource elements that is an integer multiple of the first number of resource elements. In some cases, the resource mapping component 1020 can communicate data on the allocated communication resources.
