Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a connection joint for adjustably connecting at least two components of a laboratory automation system, a laboratory automation system and a method for adjustably connecting at least two components of a laboratory automation system. The connection joint, the laboratory automation system and the method for adjustably connecting at least two components of a laboratory automation system can be used in particular in the field of medicine or chemistry laboratories, in particular for in vitro diagnostics (IVD). However, other fields of application of the present application are also possible. Background Art

[0002] In vitro diagnostic tests have a significant impact on clinical decision making and can provide critical information to physicians. In particular, great emphasis is placed on providing rapid and accurate test results in critical care settings. In vitro diagnostic tests are typically performed using instruments operable to perform one or more processing steps or workflow steps on one or more biological samples and / or one or more reagents, such as pre-analytical instruments, post-analytical instruments, and analytical instruments.

[0003] The analytical instrument or analyzer is configured to obtain measured values. The analyzer is operable to measure the parameter values of a sample or its components by various chemical, biological, physical, optical or other technical procedures. The analyzer can be operable to measure the parameters of a sample or at least one analyte and return the measured values obtained. The possible analysis result list returned by the analyzer includes but is not limited to: the concentration of the analyte in the sample, the digital (yes or no) result indicating the presence of the analyte in the sample (corresponding to a concentration higher than the detection level), optical parameters, DNA or RNA sequences, data obtained by mass spectrometry of proteins or metabolites, and various types of physical or chemical parameters. The analytical instrument may include a unit that helps to pipette, feed and mix samples and / or reagents.

[0004] In the field of medical or chemical laboratories, sample transport systems can be used to distribute sample tubes between analytical instruments. The tubes can contain a variety of samples (such as blood, serum or plasma, urine or chemicals), and the tubes can also be several types with different shapes, diameters, colors, heights, etc. The transport system can include a plurality of cavities for receiving sample tubes to deliver them to the corresponding analytical instruments.

[0005] An exemplary embodiment of a system for conveying containers between different stations is described in WO 2011 / 138448 A1. A system for conveying containers between different stations is described. The containers are accommodated in container holders. The system comprises: a control unit, which controls the conveying of the container holders; a conveying surface, which is subdivided into sub-surfaces and on which the container holders can be arranged in a movable manner; and drive devices. The drive devices are activated by the control unit and in each case one drive device is assigned to a sub-surface in each case. In each case, the drive device is designed to provide drive power to the associated container holder.

[0006] EP 3196652A1 describes a laboratory dispensing system for use in a laboratory automation system having a plurality of diagnostic laboratory container carriers and a conveyor device. The conveyor device comprises an endless transmission member, in particular a belt or a chain, which defines a closed-loop conveyor path; and a plurality of support elements, which are attached to the endless transmission member and are suitable for receiving a diagnostic laboratory container carrier and for conveying the diagnostic laboratory container carrier in an upright position along at least a portion of the conveyor path. The support elements are each pivotally mounted to the transmission member about a horizontal pivot axis for maintaining the support element in an upright use position when traveling along the conveyor path.

[0007] Typically, the size of a laboratory automation system including one or more sample transfer systems is designed to be larger, and the one or more sample transfer systems can be used to distribute sample tubes between analytical instruments. Exemplarily, the laboratory automation system can have a length of 20m to 40m. In order to achieve horizontal alignment of the sample transfer system and the analytical instrument, the laboratory automation system may include a plurality of adjustable feet to compensate for the difference in height. The difference in height can be caused, for example, by the difference in height of the floor on which the laboratory automation system is installed. In addition, the difference in height can be caused by the sinking of the adjustable feet into the ground. Therefore, it is necessary to further improve the horizontal alignment.

[0008] Several devices are known which comprise a positioning part which is adjustable in the vertical and horizontal direction. Thus, DE 38 13 477 C1 describes a device for holding an object in a substantially weightless state, the device having the following features: a carrier part having a constant vertical axis, a positioning part which is coupled to the carrier part and can be adjusted vertically relative to the carrier part and can furthermore be displaced in a horizontal plane, and which also exhibits a bearing fixture for attaching the object, a constant horizontal first linear guide part for horizontally adjusting the bearing fixture relative to the carrier part, and a constant horizontal axis about which the object can be rotated.

[0009] US 3511462A describes a device for supporting and centering an optical component, the device comprising two supports carried by two arms, the two arms being adapted to slide in a frame and positioned relative to each other at a distance adjustable according to the length of the optical component. The first support comprises two concentric rings arranged as a universal joint, and the second support comprises a floating ring cooperating with two handles fastened with micrometer screws, which can be displaced in two non-parallel directions in a translational movement. The optical component is locked in place by means of a screw in a center ring and by means of an element such as a screw in a ring. The ring is pressed against a friction shoe or ball bearing at the end of the handle by a spring. The frame can slide on the support in direction Y, the support itself slides in direction Z on a base, which can also pivot around a pivot pin.

[0010] EP 0024073 A1 describes a precise adjustment in three spatial directions, which is obtained by means of an operating member comprising a handle, the rotation of which acts via a universal joint on a part of the base for moving the instrument in height, and into an internal lever, which is connected to the handle without play when the actuator is tilted about a rotation center defined by the universal joint, and thus produces a horizontal displacement of the base relative to the base. The internal lever is accommodated in a socket fixed to the base in a manner that allows it to swing in all directions, and its lower end is in the form of a spherical foot that rests directly on the base. The socket in which the internal lever is accommodated is arranged in or near the plane of the universal joint; the radius of the spherical foot corresponds to the distance between the socket and the base.

[0011] CN 109102842A describes a two-dimensional plane translation adjustment device, which includes an outer frame, an intermediate frame and an inner frame. The top wall and the left wall of the outer frame are respectively provided with screw holes I and screw holes II, and the right wall of the outer frame is provided with a through hole I. The center of the top of the outer frame is provided with a vertical adjustment top wheel that matches the top wall of the inner frame, and the center of the right wall of the outer frame is provided with a horizontal adjustment top wheel that matches the outer wall of the intermediate frame. The outer frame is sleeved on the intermediate frame, and the middle of the top wall of the intermediate frame is provided with a through hole II that matches the vertical adjustment top wheel at the center of the top of the outer frame. The right wall and the bottom wall of the intermediate frame are respectively provided with screw holes III and screw holes IV, and a guide groove is provided on the bottom wall of the outer frame. The two-dimensional plane translation adjustment device disclosed by the invention has a simple structure, is convenient and quick to operate, effectively reduces the friction coefficient during vertical and horizontal movement, and ensures smoothness and non-stickiness during movement.

[0012] Despite the advantages of the known methods and devices, several technical challenges remain. In particular, the alignment of devices extending over several meters remains a technical challenge. Connected devices may move on a vertical axis or may sink at different rates during operation of the device. Therefore, a device is needed that compensates for height differences that occur after installation and over longer periods of time. Furthermore, the realization of an anti-twist configuration remains a technical challenge.

[0013] Issues to be resolved

[0014] Therefore, it is desirable to provide a connection joint for adjustably connecting at least two components of a laboratory automation system, a laboratory automation system, and a method for adjustably connecting at least two components of a laboratory automation system, which at least partially solve the technical challenges of the above-mentioned known methods and similar devices. Specifically, a connection joint for adjustably connecting at least two components of a laboratory automation system and a method for adjustably connecting at least two components of a laboratory automation system should be proposed, which improve the alignment of the laboratory automation system, and a laboratory automation system with improved alignment should be proposed.
