Safety device for a single-use mixing or storage system

Abstract

A safety device for a single-use mixing or storage system (10), particularly for single-use mixing or storage systems in biopharmaceutical processes, comprising a flexible bag (12) and a support structure (14), the flexible bag being made of a thin film material and the support structure being for receiving and supporting the bag (12) in multiple directions. The support structure (14) allows the bag (12) to expand in an expansion direction. The safety device further comprises a detection unit (20) and a control unit (28), the detection unit being adapted to detect the expansion of the bag (12) in the expansion direction, and the control unit being connected to the detection unit (20) and adapted to activate a safety measure if the expansion of the bag (12) in the expansion direction exceeds a given threshold.
