AI Technical Summary
In 5G NR and other multiple access technologies, it is difficult for base stations to derive frequency domain-space domain basis through detection reference signal (SRS) measurements, especially in frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) modes, resulting in a reduced precoding efficiency of channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS).
The user equipment (UE) is configured to have two resource allocations for each SRS resource, each resource allocation including time and frequency resource allocations. One resource allocation is based on subband detection and may include frequency hopping; the other resource allocation is based on broadband detection and does not include frequency hopping. Through this configuration, the UE can dynamically select appropriate resource allocations for SRS transmission.
Through the dynamic resource allocation selection of the UE, the base station can more effectively combine the SRS measurement results to deduce the frequency domain-space domain basis, thereby improving the efficiency of CSI-RS precoding and the accuracy of channel estimation.

Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates generally to communication systems, and more particularly, to a user equipment configured to send a sounding reference signal to a base station. Background Art
[0002] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide a variety of telecommunication services, such as telephony, video, data, messaging, and broadcasting. Typical wireless communication systems may employ multiple access technologies that can support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources. Examples of such multiple access technologies include code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, time division multiple access (TDMA) systems, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC FDMA) systems, and time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) systems.
[0003] These multiple access technologies have been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide a common protocol that enables different wireless devices to communicate at a city, country, region, and even global level. An example telecommunication standard is 5G New Radio (NR). 5G NR is part of the continuous mobile broadband evolution promulgated by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) to meet new requirements associated with latency, reliability, security, scalability (e.g., utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT)), and other requirements. 5GNR includes services associated with enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communications (mMTC), and ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC). Some aspects of 5GNR can be based on 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) standards. 5G NR technology needs to be further improved. These improvements may also be applicable to other multiple access technologies and telecommunication standards that employ these technologies. Summary of the invention
[0004] A simplified overview of one or more aspects is presented below to provide a basic understanding of these aspects. This overview is not an extensive overview of all contemplated aspects, and is neither intended to identify key or important elements of all aspects, nor to delineate the scope of any or all aspects. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts of one or more aspects in a simplified form as a prelude to a more detailed description that is presented later.
[0005] In some example radio access technology (RAT) access networks (such as 5G new radio (NR) access networks), a base station may use at least one sounding reference signal (SRS) to estimate at least one channel (e.g., uplink channel) on which a transmission is received from a user equipment (UE). Additionally or alternatively, the SRS may be used for uplink frequency selective scheduling and / or uplink timing estimation.
[0006] Therefore, the UE sends at least one SRS to the base station. In this process, the UE can detect all ports of the SRS resource in each symbol of the SRS resource. In some aspects, the UE can send the SRS to the base station aperiodically, wherein such aperiodic SRS transmission is triggered by the base station, for example, via downlink or uplink downlink control information (DCI) (e.g., SRS request field).
[0007] For frequency division duplex (FDD) (e.g., paired spectrum), the base station can use SRS to derive the frequency domain spatial domain (FD-SD) basis for precoding the channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS). However, if the SRS is detected per band, such as using SRS frequency hopping, the base station may not be able to combine the FD basis determined via SRS measurements. Similarly, in time division duplex (TDD), the base station may not be able to use the channel impulse response (CIR) of two or more sub-bands to perform joint processing (e.g., noise filtering).
[0008] Therefore, it is necessary to facilitate the derivation of the FD basis determined by the base station via SRS measurements. The present disclosure provides various techniques and solutions for the derivation of the FD basis determined by the base station via SRS measurements. In particular, the present disclosure describes configuring the UE to have two SRS resource allocations for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set, each resource allocation including a resource allocation for time and frequency. The first resource allocation of the at least two resource allocations may be based on sub-band detection, and thus frequency hopping may be included in the frequency resource allocation. In addition, the second resource allocation of the at least two resource allocations may be based on broadband detection, and thus frequency hopping may not be included in the frequency resource allocation.
[0009] In some further aspects, the present disclosure describes at least two resource allocations having different frequency comb configurations in the corresponding frequency resource allocations. The difference between the frequency comb configurations of the frequency resource allocations of the at least two resource allocations can increase SRS capacity, such as when a base station configures a relatively large comb size for wideband sounding.
[0010] In one aspect of the present disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and a device are provided. The device may be a UE. The device may be configured to receive an SRS configuration from a base station, the SRS configuration indicating at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set. Each of the at least two resource allocations may include at least one of a time resource allocation and / or a frequency resource allocation. The device may also be configured to send an SRS to the base station on a corresponding SRS resource in an SRS resource set based on one of the at least two resource allocations for the corresponding SRS resource.
[0011] In another aspect of the present disclosure, another method, another computer-readable medium, and another device are provided. The another device may be a base station. The device may be configured to send an SRS configuration to a UE, the SRS configuration indicating at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set. Each of the at least two resource allocations may include at least one of a time resource allocation and / or a frequency resource allocation. The device may also be configured to receive an SRS from a UE on a corresponding SRS resource in an SRS resource set based on one of the at least two resource allocations for the corresponding SRS resource.

[0028] The detailed description set forth below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings is intended as a description of various configurations and is not intended to represent the only configuration in which the concepts described herein can be practiced. The detailed description includes specific details for the purpose of providing a thorough understanding of the various concepts. However, it is apparent to those skilled in the art that these concepts can be practiced without these specific details. In some cases, well-known structures and components are shown in block diagram form to avoid blurring these concepts.
[0029] Several aspects of telecommunication systems will now be presented with reference to various apparatus and methods. These apparatus and methods will be described in the following detailed description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, components, circuits, processes, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as "elements"). These elements may be implemented using electronic hardware, computer software, or any combination thereof. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends on the specific application and the design constraints imposed on the overall system.
[0030] For example, an element, or any part of an element, or any combination of elements can be implemented as a "processing system" including one or more processors. Examples of processors include microprocessors, microcontrollers, graphics processing units (GPUs), central processing units (CPUs), application processors, digital signal processors (DSPs), reduced instruction set computing (RISC) processors, systems on chip (SoCs), baseband processors, field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), programmable logic devices (PLDs), state machines, gated logic, discrete hardware circuits, and other suitable hardware configured to perform various functions described throughout the present disclosure. One or more processors in a processing system can execute software. Whether it is software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description language, or other, software should be broadly interpreted as representing instructions, instruction sets, codes, code segments, program codes, programs, subroutines, software components, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executable files, execution threads, processes, functions, etc.
[0031] Therefore, in one or more example embodiments, the functions described can be implemented in hardware, software, or any combination thereof. If implemented in software, the functions can be stored on a computer-readable medium, or encoded as one or more instructions or codes on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media include computer storage media. The storage medium can be any available medium that can be accessed by a computer. As an example and not limitation, such a computer-readable medium can include a random access memory (RAM), a read-only memory (ROM), an electrically erasable programmable ROM (EEPROM), an optical disk storage, a magnetic disk storage, other magnetic storage devices, a combination of the aforementioned types of computer-readable media, or any other medium that can be used to store computer executable code in the form of instructions or data structures that can be accessed by a computer.
[0032] Figure 1 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of a wireless communication system and access network 100. The wireless communication system (also referred to as a wireless wide area network (WWAN)) includes a base station 102, a user equipment (UE) 104, an evolved packet core (EPC) 160, and another core network 190 (e.g., a 5G core (5GC)). The base station 102 may include a macro cell (a high-power cellular base station) and / or a small cell (a low-power cellular base station). A macro cell includes a base station. A small cell includes a femto cell, a pico cell, and a micro cell.
[0033] A base station 102 configured for 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE), collectively referred to as an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN), may interface with the EPC 160 via a first backhaul link 132 (e.g., an S1 interface). A base station 102 configured for 5G New Radio (NR), collectively referred to as a Next Generation RAN (NG-RAN), may interface with the core network 190 via a second backhaul link 184. The base station 102 may perform one or more of the following functions, among other functions: transmission of user data, radio channel encryption and decryption, integrity protection, header compression, mobility control functions (e.g., handover, dual connectivity), inter-cell interference coordination, connection establishment and release, load balancing, distribution for non-access stratum (NAS) messages, NAS node selection, synchronization, radio access network (RAN) sharing, multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS), subscriber and device tracking, RAN information management (RIM), paging, positioning, and delivery of warning messages. The base stations 102 may communicate with each other directly or indirectly (eg, through the EPC 160 or the core network 190) via a third backhaul link 134 (eg, an X2 interface). The first backhaul link 132, the second backhaul link 184, and the third backhaul link 134 may be wired or wireless.
[0034] Base station 102 can communicate wirelessly with UE 104. Each of base stations 102 can provide communication coverage for a corresponding geographic coverage area 110. There may be overlapping geographic coverage areas 110. For example, a small cell 102' can have a coverage area 110' that overlaps with the coverage area 110 of one or more macro base stations 102. A network that includes both small cells and macro cells can be referred to as a heterogeneous network. A heterogeneous network can also include a home evolved node B (eNB) (HeNB), which can provide services to a restricted group called a closed subscriber group (CSG). The communication link 120 between base station 102 and UE 104 can include an uplink (UL) (also called a reverse link) transmission from UE 104 to base station 102 and / or a downlink (DL) (also called a forward link) transmission from base station 102 to UE 104. The communication link 120 can use multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology, including spatial multiplexing, beamforming, and / or transmit diversity. The communication link can be through one or more carriers. The base station 102 / UE 104 may use up to Y MHz (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20, 100, 400, etc. MHz) of bandwidth per carrier allocated in a carrier aggregation for a total of up to Yx megahertz (MHz) (x component carriers) for transmission in each direction. The carriers may be adjacent to each other, or may not be adjacent to each other. The allocation of carriers may be asymmetric with respect to DL and UL (e.g., more or fewer carriers may be allocated for DL compared to UL). The component carrier may include a primary component carrier and one or more secondary component carriers. The primary component carrier may be referred to as a primary cell (PCell), and the secondary component carrier may be referred to as a secondary cell (SCell).
[0035] Some UEs 104 may communicate with each other using a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 158. The D2D communication link 158 may use DL / UL WWAN spectrum. The D2D communication link 158 may use one or more sidelink channels, such as a physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH), a physical sidelink discovery channel (PSDCH), a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH), and a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH). The D2D communication may be through various wireless D2D communication systems, such as, for example, WiMedia, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Wi-Fi based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 standard, LTE, or NR.
[0036] The wireless communication system may also include a Wi-Fi access point (AP) 150 that communicates with a Wi-Fi station (STA) 152 via a communication link 154, for example, in a 5 Gigahertz (GHz) unlicensed spectrum, etc. When communicating in the unlicensed spectrum, the STA 152 / AP 150 may perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) prior to communication to determine whether the channel is available.
[0037] The small cell 102' may operate in a licensed and / or unlicensed spectrum. When operating in an unlicensed spectrum, the small cell 102' may employ NR and use the same unlicensed spectrum (e.g., 5 GHz, etc.) as used by the Wi-Fi AP 150. The small cell 102' employing NR in the unlicensed spectrum may improve coverage and / or increase capacity of the access network.
[0038] The electromagnetic spectrum is typically subdivided into various categories, bands, channels, etc. based on frequency / wavelength. In 5GNR, the two initial operating bands are identified as frequency range names FR1 (410 MHz-7.125 GHz) and FR2 (24.25 GHz-52.6 GHz). The frequencies between FR1 and FR2 are typically referred to as mid-band frequencies. Although a portion of FR1 is greater than 6 GHz, FR1 is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the "sub-6 GHz" band in various documents and articles. Although different from the extremely high frequency (EHF) band (30 GHz-300 GHz) identified as the "millimeter wave" band by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), similar naming issues sometimes occur when it comes to FR2, which is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the "millimeter wave" band in documents and articles.
[0039] In view of the above, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that the term "sub-6 GHz" and the like, if used herein, can broadly refer to frequencies that may be less than 6 GHz, may be within FR1, or may include mid-band frequencies. In addition, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that the term "millimeter wave" and the like, if used herein, can broadly refer to frequencies that may include mid-band frequencies, may be within FR2, or may be within the EHF band.
[0040] The base station 102, whether a small cell 102' or a large cell (e.g., a macro base station), can include and / or be referred to as an eNB, a gNodeB (gNB), or another type of base station. Some base stations, such as gNB 180, can operate in the traditional sub-6 GHz spectrum, in millimeter wave frequencies, and / or near millimeter wave frequencies for communicating with UE 104. When gNB 180 operates at or near millimeter wave frequencies, gNB 180 can be referred to as a millimeter wave base station. Millimeter wave base station 180 can utilize beamforming 182 with UE 104 to compensate for path loss and short distance. Base station 180 and UE 104 can each include multiple antennas, such as antenna elements, antenna panels, and / or antenna arrays, to facilitate beamforming.
[0041] Base station 180 may transmit beamformed signals in one or more transmit directions 182' to UE 104. UE 104 may receive beamformed signals from base station 180 in one or more receive directions 182". UE 104 may also transmit beamformed signals to base station 180 in one or more transmit directions. Base station 180 may receive beamformed signals from UE 104 in one or more receive directions. Base station 180 / UE 104 may perform beam training to determine the best receive and transmit directions for each of base station 180 / UE 104. The transmit and receive directions of base station 180 may be the same, or may be different. The transmit and receive directions of UE 104 may be the same, or may be different.
[0042] The EPC 160 may include a mobility management entity (MME) 162, other MMEs 164, a serving gateway 166, an MBMS gateway 168, a broadcast multicast service center (BM-SC) 170, and a packet data network (PDN) gateway 172. The MME 162 may communicate with a home subscriber server (HSS) 174. The MME 162 is a control node that handles signaling between the UE 104 and the EPC 160. Typically, the MME 162 provides bearer and connection management. All user Internet Protocol (IP) packets are transmitted through the serving gateway 166, which itself is connected to the PDN gateway 172. The PDN gateway 172 provides UE IP address allocation and other functions. The PDN gateway 172 and the BM-SC 170 are connected to IP services 176. The IP services 176 may include the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), a PS streaming service, and / or other IP services. The BM-SC 170 may provide functions for MBMS user service provision and delivery. The BM-SC 170 may be used as an entry point for content provider MBMS transmissions, may be used to authorize and initiate MBMS bearer services within a public land mobile network (PLMN), and may be used to schedule MBMS transmissions. The MBMS Gateway 168 may be used to distribute MBMS services to base stations 102 belonging to a multicast broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) area that broadcasts a specific service, and may be responsible for session management (start / stop) and collecting eMBMS-related billing information.
[0043] The core network 190 may include an access and mobility management function (AMF) 192, other AMFs 193, a session management function (SMF) 194, and a user plane function (UPF) 195. AMF 192 may communicate with a unified data management (UDM) 196. AMF 192 is a control node that handles signaling between UE 104 and the core network 190. Typically, AMF 192 provides quality of service (QoS) flow and session management. All user IP packets are transmitted through UPF 195. UPF 195 provides UE IP address allocation and other functions. UPF 195 is connected to IP services 197. IP services 197 may include the Internet, intranet, IMS, packet switching (PS) streaming services, and / or other IP services.
[0044] Base stations may include and / or be referred to as gNBs, Node Bs, eNBs, access points, base transceiver stations, radio base stations, radio transceivers, transceiver functions, basic service sets (BSSs), extended service sets (ESSs), transmit receive points (TRPs), or some other suitable terminology. Base stations 102 provide access points to EPC 160 or core network 190 for UEs 104. Examples of UEs 104 include cellular phones, smart phones, session initiation protocol (SIP) phones, laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), satellite radios, global positioning systems, multimedia devices, video devices, digital audio players (e.g., MP3 players), cameras, game consoles, tablets, smart devices, wearable devices, vehicles, electric meters, gas pumps, large or small kitchen appliances, healthcare devices, implants, sensors / actuators, displays, or any other similar functional devices. Some of UEs 104 may be referred to as IoT devices (e.g., parking meters, gas pumps, toasters, vehicles, heart monitors, etc.). UE 104 may also be referred to as a station, a mobile station, a subscriber station, a mobile unit, a subscriber unit, a wireless unit, a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a wireless communication device, a remote device, a mobile subscriber station, an access terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a remote terminal, a handset, a user agent, a mobile client, a client, or some other suitable terminology.
[0045] Although the present disclosure may focus on 5GNR, the concepts and aspects described herein may be applied to other similar areas such as LTE, Advanced LTE (LTE-A), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), or other wireless / radio access technologies.
[0046] Reference again Figure 1 In certain aspects, the base station 102 / 180 may be configured to send a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration 198 to the UE 104, the SRS configuration 198 indicating at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. Each of the at least two resource allocations may include a time resource allocation and / or a frequency resource allocation.
[0047] Correspondingly, UE 104 may be configured to receive SRS configuration 198 from base station 102 / 180, the SRS configuration 198 indicating at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set, and each of the at least two resource allocations may include time resource allocation and / or frequency resource allocation. In some aspects, UE 104 may be configured to determine (e.g., select) one of the at least two resource allocations.
[0048] The UE 104 may also be configured to then send an SRS to the base station 102 / 180 on a corresponding SRS resource in the SRS resource set based on one of the (selected) at least two resource allocations for the corresponding SRS resource. Thus, the base station 102 / 180 may also be configured to receive an SRS from the UE 104 on a corresponding SRS resource in the SRS resource set based on one of the at least two resource allocations for the corresponding SRS resource.
[0049] Various aspects and other details related to SRS transmission by a UE to a base station based on dynamic selection of resource allocations are also described herein.
[0050] Figure 2A FIG200 is a diagram illustrating an example of a first subframe within a 5G NR frame structure. Figure 2B FIG230 is a diagram illustrating an example of DL channels within a 5G NR subframe. Figure 2C FIG250 is a diagram illustrating an example of a second subframe within a 5G NR frame structure. Figure 2D 280 is a diagram illustrating an example of UL channels within a 5G NR subframe. The 5G NR frame structure can be frequency division duplex (FDD), where for a particular set of subcarriers (carrier system bandwidth), the subframes within that subcarrier set are dedicated to DL or UL, or can be time division duplex (TDD), where for a particular set of subcarriers (carrier system bandwidth), the subframes within that subcarrier set are dedicated to both DL and UL. Figure 2A , 2C In the example provided, it is assumed that the 5G NR frame structure is TDD, subframe 4 is configured with slot format 28 (mainly DL), where D is DL, U is UL, and F is flexible between DL / UL, and subframe 3 is configured with slot format 34 (mostly UL). Although subframes 3 and 4 are shown with slot formats 34 and 28, respectively, any particular subframe can be configured with any of the various available slot formats 0-61. Slot formats 0 and 1 are DL and UL, respectively. Other slot formats 2-61 include a mixture of DL, UL and flexible symbols. The UE is configured with the slot format through the received slot format indicator (SFI) (dynamically through DL control information (DCI), or semi-statically / statically through radio resource control (RRC) signaling). Note that the description below also applies to the 5GNR frame structure for TDD.
[0051] Other wireless communication technologies may have different frame structures and / or different channels. A frame (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)) may be divided into 10 subframes (1 ms) of equal size. Each subframe may include one or more time slots. A subframe may also include a microslot, which may include 7, 4, or 2 symbols. Each time slot may include 7 or 14 symbols, depending on the time slot configuration. For time slot configuration 0, each time slot may include 14 symbols, and for time slot configuration 1, each time slot may include 7 symbols. The symbol on the DL may be a cyclic prefix (CP) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) (CP-OFDM) symbol. The symbol on the UL may be a CP-OFDM symbol (for high throughput scenarios) or a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) symbol (also known as a single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) symbol) (for power-constrained scenarios; limited to single stream transmission). The number of time slots within a subframe is based on the time slot configuration and parameter set (numerology). For slot configuration 0, different parameter sets μ0 to 4 allow 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. For slot configuration 1, different parameter sets 0 to 2 allow 2, 4 and 8 slots per subframe, respectively. Therefore, for slot configuration 0 and parameter set μ, there are 14 symbols / slot and 2μ slots / subframe. The subcarrier spacing and symbol length / duration are a function of the digital scheme. The subcarrier spacing can be equal to 2 μ *15 kilohertz (kHz), where μ is parameter set 0 to 4. Thus, parameter set μ=0 has a subcarrier spacing of 15 kHz, and parameter set μ=4 has a subcarrier spacing of 240 kHz. The symbol length / duration is inversely related to the subcarrier spacing. Figures 2A-2D An example of slot configuration 0 with 14 symbols per slot and parameter set μ=2 with 4 slots per subframe is provided. The slot duration is 0.25 ms, the subcarrier spacing is 60 kHz, and the symbol duration is approximately 16.67 μs. Within a set of frames, there may be one or more different bandwidth parts (BWPs) of frequency division multiplexing (see Figure 2B ). Each BWP can have a specific set of parameters.
[0052] A resource grid can be used to represent the frame structure. Each time slot includes a resource block (RB) (also called a physical RB (PRB)) extending over 12 consecutive subcarriers. The resource grid is divided into a number of resource elements (REs). The number of bits carried by each RE depends on the modulation scheme.
[0053] like Figure 2A As shown, some of the REs carry reference (pilot) signals (RS) for the UE. The RS may include a demodulation RS (DM-RS) (indicated as R for a particular configuration). x, where 100x is the port number, but other DM-RS configurations are possible) and a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) for channel estimation at the UE. The RS may also include a beam measurement RS (BRS), a beam refinement RS (BRRS), and a phase tracking RS (PT-RS).
[0054] Figure 2B Examples of various DL channels within a subframe of a frame are illustrated. The physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) carries DCI within one or more control channel elements (CCEs), each CCE including nine RE groups (REGs), each REG including four consecutive REs in an OFDM symbol. The PDCCH within a BWP may be referred to as a control resource set (CORESET). Additional BWPs may be located at higher and / or lower frequencies on the channel bandwidth. The primary synchronization signal (PSS) may be within symbol 2 of a particular subframe of a frame. UE 104 uses the PSS to determine subframe / symbol timing and physical layer identity. The secondary synchronization signal (SSS) may be within symbol 4 of a particular subframe of a frame. The UE uses the SSS to determine the physical layer cell identification group number and radio frame timing. Based on the physical layer identity and the physical layer cell identity group number, the UE may determine the physical cell identifier (PCI). Based on the PCI, the UE may determine the position of the aforementioned DM-RS. The physical broadcast channel (PBCH) carrying the master information block (MIB) can be logically grouped with the PSS and SSS to form a synchronization signal (SS) / PBCH block (also called an SS block (SSB)). The MIB provides a number of RBs in the system bandwidth and a system frame number (SFN). The physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) carries user data, broadcast system information such as the system information block (SIB) that is not sent through the PBCH, and paging messages.
[0055] like Figure 2C As shown, some of the REs carry DM-RS for channel estimation at the base station (indicated as R for one specific configuration, but other DM-RS configurations are possible). The UE can send DM-RS for the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) and DM-RS for the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). The PUSCH DM-RS can be sent in the first one or two symbols of the PUSCH. Depending on whether a short PUCCH or a long PUCCH is sent, and depending on the specific PUCCH format used, the PUCCH DM-RS can be sent in different configurations. The UE can send an SRS. The SRS can be sent in the last symbol of the subframe. The SRS can have a comb structure, and the UE can send the SRS on one of these combs. The base station can use the SRS for channel quality estimation to achieve frequency-dependent scheduling on the UL.
[0056] Figure 2D An example of various UL channels within a subframe of a frame is illustrated. The PUCCH may be positioned as indicated in a configuration. The PUCCH carries uplink control information (UCI), such as scheduling requests, channel quality indicator (CQI), precoding matrix indicator (PMI), rank indicator (RI), and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK) / non-acknowledgement (NACK) feedback. The PUSCH carries data and may additionally be used to carry a buffer status report (BSR), a power headroom report (PHR), and / or UCI.
[0057] Figure 3 3 is a block diagram of a base station 310 communicating with a UE 350 in an access network. In the DL, IP packets from the EPC 160 may be provided to a controller / processor 375. The controller / processor 375 implements layer 3 and layer 2 functions. Layer 3 includes a radio resource control (RRC) layer, and layer 2 includes a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layer, a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer, a radio link control (RLC) layer, and a medium access control (MAC) layer. The controller / processor 375 provides RRC layer functions associated with broadcasting of system information (e.g., MIB, SIB), RRC connection control (e.g., RRC connection paging, RRC connection establishment, RRC connection modification, and RRC connection release), inter-radio access technology (RAT) mobility, and measurement configuration for UE measurement reporting; PDCP layer functions associated with header compression / decompression, security (encryption, decryption, integrity protection, integrity verification), and handover support functions; RLC layer functions associated with transmission of upper layer packet data units (PDUs), error correction through ARQ, concatenation, segmentation and reassembly of RLC service data units (SDUs), re-segmentation of RLC data PDUs, and reordering of RLC data PDUs; and MAC layer functions associated with mapping between logical channels and transport channels, multiplexing of MAC SDUs to transport blocks (TBs), demultiplexing of MAC SDUs from TBs, scheduling information reporting, error correction through HARQ, priority handling, and logical channel prioritization.
[0058] The transmit (TX) processor 316 and the receive (RX) processor 370 implement layer 1 functions associated with various signal processing functions. Layer 1, including the physical (PHY) layer, may include error detection on the transmission channel, forward error correction (FEC) encoding / decoding of the transmission channel, interleaving, rate matching, mapping to the physical channel, modulation / demodulation of the physical channel, and MIMO antenna processing. The TX processor 316 handles the mapping to the signal constellation based on various modulation schemes (e.g., binary phase shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), M-phase shift keying (M-PSK), M-quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM)). The coded and modulated symbols can then be split into parallel streams. Each stream can then be mapped to an OFDM subcarrier, multiplexed with a reference signal (e.g., pilot) in the time domain and / or frequency domain, and then combined together using an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) to generate a physical channel carrying a time domain OFDM symbol stream. The OFDM stream is spatially precoded to generate multiple spatial streams. Channel estimates from a channel estimator 374 may be used to determine coding and modulation schemes, and for spatial processing. The channel estimates may be derived from a reference signal and / or channel condition feedback sent by the UE 350. Each spatial stream may then be provided to a different antenna 320 via a separate transmitter 318TX. Each transmitter 318TX may modulate an RF carrier with a corresponding spatial stream for transmission.
[0059] At the UE 350, each receiver 354RX receives a signal through its corresponding antenna 352. Each receiver 354RX recovers the information modulated onto the RF carrier and provides the information to a receive (RX) processor 356. The TX processor 368 and the RX processor 356 implement layer 1 functions associated with various signal processing functions. The RX processor 356 can perform spatial processing on the information to recover any spatial streams destined for the UE 350. If multiple spatial streams are destined for the UE 350, they can be combined into a single OFDM symbol stream by the RX processor 356. The RX processor 356 then converts the OFDM symbol stream from the time domain to the frequency domain using a fast Fourier transform (FFT). The frequency domain signal includes separate OFDM symbol streams for each subcarrier of the OFDM signal. The symbols on each subcarrier and the reference signal are recovered and demodulated by determining the most likely signal constellation point sent by the base station 310. These soft decisions can be based on the channel estimates calculated by the channel estimator 358. The soft decisions are then decoded and deinterleaved to recover the data and control signals originally sent on the physical channel by the base station 310. The data and control signals are then provided to the controller / processor 359, which implements Layer 3 and Layer 2 functions.
[0060] The controller / processor 359 may be associated with a memory 360 that stores program codes and data. The memory 360 may be referred to as a computer readable medium. In the UL, the controller / processor 359 provides demultiplexing between transport and logical channels, packet reassembly, decryption, header decompression, and control signal processing to recover IP packets from the EPC 160. The controller / processor 359 is also responsible for error detection using an ACK and / or NACK protocol to support HARQ operations.
[0061] Similar to the functions described in conjunction with the DL transmission of the base station 310, the controller / processor 359 provides RRC layer functions associated with system information (e.g., MIB, SIB) acquisition, RRC connection, and measurement reporting; PDCP layer functions associated with header compression / decompression, and security (encryption, decryption, integrity protection, integrity checking); RLC layer functions associated with transmission of upper layer PDUs, error correction through ARQ, concatenation, segmentation, and reassembly of RLC SDUs, resegmentation of RLC data PDUs, and reordering of RLC data PDUs; and MAC layer functions associated with mapping between logical channels and transport channels, multiplexing of MAC SDUs to TBs, demultiplexing of MAC SDUs from TBs, scheduling information reporting, error correction through HARQ, priority processing, and logical channel priority.
[0062] The TX processor 368 may select an appropriate coding and modulation scheme and facilitate spatial processing using channel estimates derived by the channel estimator 358 from a reference signal or feedback transmitted by the base station 310. The spatial streams generated by the TX processor 368 may be provided to different antennas 352 via separate transmitters 354TX. Each transmitter 354TX may modulate an RF carrier with a corresponding spatial stream for transmission.
[0063] At the base station 310, the UL transmission is processed in a manner similar to that described in conjunction with the receiver functionality at the UE 350. Each receiver 318RX receives a signal through its respective antenna 320. Each receiver 318RX recovers information modulated onto an RF carrier and provides the information to a RX processor 370.
[0064] The controller / processor 375 may be associated with a memory 376 that stores program codes and data. The memory 376 may be referred to as a computer readable medium. In the UL, the controller / processor 375 provides demultiplexing between transport and logical channels, packet reassembly, decryption, header decompression, control signal processing to recover IP packets from the UE 350. The IP packets from the controller / processor 375 may be provided to the EPC 160. The controller / processor 375 is also responsible for error detection using an ACK and / or NACK protocol to support HARQ operations.
[0065] In some aspects, at least one of the TX processor 368, the RX processor 356, and the controller / processor 359 may be configured to perform operations related to Figure 1 Various aspects related to the SRS configuration 198.
[0066] In some other aspects, at least one of the TX processor 316, the RX processor 370, and the controller / processor 375 may be configured to perform operations related to Figure 1 Various aspects related to the SRS configuration 198.
[0067] Reference now Figures 4 to 12 , and also describes various aspects and other details about SRS transmission by a UE to a base station based on a dynamic selection of resource allocation. In some RANs (including various 5GNR RANs), a base station (e.g., a gNB) may use at least one SRS to estimate at least one channel (e.g., an uplink channel) on which a transmission from a UE is received. Additionally or alternatively, the SRS may be used for uplink frequency selective scheduling and / or uplink timing estimation.
[0068] Therefore, the UE sends the at least one SRS to the base station. In doing so, the UE may detect all ports of the SRS resource in each symbol of the SRS resource. In some aspects, the UE may send the SRS to the base station aperiodically, wherein such aperiodic SRS transmission is triggered by the base station, for example, via a downlink or uplink DCI (e.g., an SRS request field).
[0069] For FDD (e.g., paired spectrum), the base station can use SRS to derive the frequency domain-spatial domain (FD-SD) basis for precoding of CSI-RS. However, if SRS is detected per band, such as using SRS frequency hopping, the base station may not be able to combine the FD basis determined via SRS measurements. Similarly, in TDD, the base station may not be able to use the channel impulse response (CIR) of two or more sub-bands to perform joint processing (e.g., noise filtering).
[0070] Therefore, it is necessary to facilitate the derivation of an FD basis determined by a base station via SRS measurements. The present disclosure provides various techniques and solutions for the derivation of an FD basis determined by a base station via SRS measurements. In particular, the present disclosure describes configuring a UE to have two SRS resource allocations for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set, each resource allocation including a resource allocation for time and frequency. The first resource allocation of the at least two resource allocations may be based on sub-band sounding, and thus frequency hopping may be included in the frequency resource allocation.
[0071] However, the second resource allocation of the at least two resource allocations may be based on wideband sounding and may therefore not include frequency hopping in the frequency resource allocation. Potentially, the base station may be able to combine the FD basis determined via SRS measurements when the UE is configured to send SRS for wideband sounding. Thus, the UE may (dynamically) select the aforementioned second resource allocation for wideband sounding on all ports. Such (dynamic) selection of resource allocation may, for example, be configured by the base station for the UE, as further described herein.
[0072] In some further aspects, the present disclosure describes at least two resource allocations having different frequency comb configurations in the respective frequency resource allocations. The difference between the frequency comb configurations of the frequency resource allocations of the at least two resource allocations can increase SRS capacity, such as when a base station configures a relatively large comb size for wideband sounding.
[0073] Figure 4 is a diagram illustrating an example configuration of SRS resources for SRS transmission according to various aspects of the present disclosure. In an access network of an example RAT (such as a 5G NR access network), a base station may use at least one SRS corresponding to an SRS resource to estimate at least one channel (e.g., an uplink channel) on which a transmission from a UE is received (although an SRS resource does not necessarily correspond to only one subcarrier on one symbol or RE). The UE may send an SRS on one or more SRS resources, which may be included in an SRS resource set.
[0074] Therefore, the UE may send an SRS to the base station (for example, see the previous Figure 2C to Figure 2D ), and in doing so, all ports of the SRS resource are probed in each symbol. Although the UE may send the SRS in a time slot including an uplink channel (e.g., PUSCH), the SRS may be probed over a wider bandwidth than the uplink channel. For example, the UE may probe all ports over a wideband carrier bandwidth by sending the SRS on the SRS resources of the SRS resource set.
[0075] According to various aspects, the time slot 402 can be configured to include SRS on a set of RBs across the entire bandwidth of interest to the base station and the UE. Potentially, the base station can configure the entire bandwidth of interest for the UE. In some aspects, the bandwidth of interest can be a wideband carrier bandwidth, or can be equal to the entire system bandwidth. In some other aspects, the bandwidth of interest may be less than the entire system bandwidth, for example, the bandwidth of interest may be 36, 48, or 64 RBs (although different bandwidths of interest may also have different numbers of RBs).
[0076] The base station may send a bandwidth of interest (e.g., a sounding bandwidth) to the UE, for example, as part of an SRS configuration. In some aspects, the base station may signal the bandwidth of interest and / or other information associated with the SRS configuration to the UE via RRC signaling. In some other aspects, the base station may signal the bandwidth of interest and / or other SRS configuration information using a DCI (e.g., information included in the DCI and / or a DCI format) and / or a MAC control element (CE).
[0077] In the time domain, the time slot 402 can be configured to support SRS resources across a specific number of symbols, which can be adjacent (e.g., 1, 2, or 4 adjacent symbols), each SRS resource having up to 4 ports. According to some aspects, the SRS can be transmitted only in the last 6 symbols of the time slot 402 (e.g., 5GNR Release 15 and Release 16 can support SRS transmission in the last 6 symbols of the time slot). However, according to some other aspects, the SRS can be transmitted in any symbol of the time slot (e.g., 5G NR Release 17 and higher can potentially support SRS transmission in more than the last 6 symbols in the time slot, such as all symbols of the time slot).
[0078] In some aspects, the SRS may be sent in a slot following uplink data of a slot, such as uplink data carried on a PUSCH. For example, the PUSCH may be mapped to a subset of symbols 0 to 13 in slot 402. Next, the SRS may be mapped to a subset of the remaining symbols 8 to 13 in slot 402—for example, the SRS may be mapped to 1, 2, or 4 adjacent symbols of symbols 8 to 13 in slot 402.
[0079] In order to transmit on SRS resources, these SRS resources may be included in an SRS resource set of the UE. An SRS resource set contains a collection of SRS resources on which a UE transmits. A UE may be configured with multiple SRS resources, which may be grouped in an SRS resource set. Illustratively, a UE may be configured with SRS resource set 1 410a and / or SRS resource set 2 410b.
[0080] The SRS resource set may be configured to include one SRS resource or a group of multiple SRS resources, wherein the included (multiple) SRS resources are based on the use case where the SRS is transmitted, such as antenna switching, codebook-based, non-codebook-based, beam management, etc. For example, for the SRS antenna switching use case, 1 or 2 TX to 2 or 4 RX antenna switching may be supported, which may be represented as "1T2R", "2T4R", "1T4R", and "1T4R / 2T4R", where the UE supports both 1 TX to 4 RX and 2 TX to 4 RX antenna switching (however, switching of an equal number of TX and RX antennas may also be supported).
[0081] To support antenna switching, the SRS resource set is configured with two (for 1T2R or 2T4R) or four (for 4T4R) SRS resources transmitted in different symbols. Each SRS resource includes one (for 1T2R or 1T4R) or two (for 2T4R) antenna ports. The (multiple) SRS ports of each SRS resource can be associated with (multiple) different UE antenna ports.
[0082] like Figure 4 As shown in an example of , SRS resource set 1410a is based on 1T4R and therefore includes four SRS resources 1 to 4412a-d. These four SRS resources 1 to 4412a-d may appear in one time slot, such as within four adjacent symbols of symbols 8 to 13 of time slot 402. However, other configurations may also be supported. For example, for 1T4R, two non-periodic SRS resource sets with a total of four SRS resources sent in different symbols of two different time slots may be configured instead of configuring SRS resources 1 to 4412a-d in one time slot.
[0083] like Figure 4 As further shown, SRS resource set 2410b can be based on a use case of codebook-based transmission (e.g., for beamforming), such as when feedback of precoding information (e.g., PMI) and / or other information is configured to increase throughput on the receiver side (e.g., base station). SRS resource set 2410b can include (multiple) SRS resources according to codebook-based transmission, such as one SRS resource 5412e or two SRS resources (SRS resource 4412d and SRS resource 5412e). In some aspects, an SRS resource set (e.g., SRS resource set 2410b) can be wideband in that the (multiple) SRS resources in the SRS resource set span the entire SRS bandwidth in a symbol (e.g., a wideband carrier bandwidth).
[0084] The scheduling of SRS transmission may be periodic, semi-persistent, or aperiodic. Thus, a UE may be configured for aperiodic, semi-persistent, or periodic transmission of an SRS resource set. For aperiodic transmission of an SRS resource set, a base station may trigger SRS transmission of the UE via some signaling (such as DCI). In some aspects, two (2) bits in a DL or UL DCI may trigger SRS transmission on SRS resources in an SRS resource set.
[0085] For example, a base station may send a DCI to a UE that includes a field labeled as an "SRS request" field, and such a field may include a value (e.g., two bits) that triggers SRS transmission by the UE. In some cases, the base station may indicate an SRS resource set to be used by the UE for SRS transmission. Illustratively, the UE may be configured with one or more SRS resource sets for aperiodic SRS transmission, and each of the SRS resource sets may be associated with a corresponding value or other identifier (such as 1, 2, or 3). When the base station triggers SRS transmission by the UE, the base station may signal a corresponding value or other identifier corresponding to one of the SRS resource sets to be used by the UE for aperiodic SRS transmission.
[0086] To trigger the UE to use an SRS resource set, the base station may first configure the UE to have one or more SRS resource sets. The base station may send information configuring each of the one or more SRS resource sets to the UE via RRC signaling. In some aspects, each SRS resource set is configured with two parameters via RRC signaling, wherein the first parameter may identify the SRS resource set that the UE will use for SRS transmission, and the second parameter may identify (multiple) additional SRS resource sets that the UE may potentially use for SRS transmission.
[0087] In the context of some RATs (such as 5GNR), each of the first and second parameters may be included in one or more RRC messages as corresponding fields of an information element (IE), such as SRS-Config IE. The first parameter may be associated with a field labeled aperiodicSRS-RespirceTrigger and may have a value of 1, 2, or 3, while the second parameter may be associated with a field labeled aperiodicSRS-RespirceTriggerList and may indicate an array of two values. Each value in the above fields may be referred to as a "codepoint" or "DCI codepoint".
[0088] As an illustration, Table 1 illustrates potential code points for configuring aperiodic SRS transmission using SRS resource set(s). Specifically, these code points may be transmitted in the SRS request field of the DCI as one of the following values.
[0089]
[0090]
[0091] Table 1
[0092] Figure 5 5 is a diagram 500 illustrating an example SRS transmission according to SRS resource allocation in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure. As described above, the frame structure employed in some RANs (such as 5G NR) may be FDD and / or TDD. For FDD, a subframe within a subcarrier set is dedicated to the downlink or uplink of that particular subcarrier set (carrier system bandwidth) - for example, uplink and downlink signaling may be communicated on different frequency bands (or subbands) that may span an equal number of subcarriers and may be separated by sufficient gaps. In other words, FDD may use paired spectrum for uplink and downlink communications.
[0093] However, TDD can utilize unpaired spectrum. Thus, a subframe within a subcarrier set is dedicated to the downlink and uplink of that particular subcarrier set (carrier system bandwidth).
[0094] In order to send some signaling to the UE, the base station may precode such signaling. In particular, the base station may (at least partially) apply precoding to (multiple) CSI-RS sent to the UE. (At least partially) precoding of CSI-RS may improve the efficiency of CSI-RS resource allocation allocated to the UE. The base station may rely on at least one frequency domain (FD) basis and / or spatial domain (SD) basis (e.g., including FD-SD basis) for CSI-RS precoding.
[0095] In some aspects, the base station may be able to derive at least one FD-SD basis based on an SRS transmission by a UE. However, if the SRS is sounded per band, the base station may not be able to combine some FD bases derived via measurements performed using the SRS transmitted by the UE, for example due to phase jitter.
[0096] For example, the UE may be configured to perform SRS transmission on two SRS resources of an SRS resource set by hopping between SRS resources in the frequency domain. According to such an example SRS configuration, the UE may transmit SRS on a first SRS hop 510a in a first symbol x and on a second SRS hop 510b in a next consecutive symbol x+1 on the uplink bandwidth 502. The first SRS hop 510a may correspond to a first portion of the total bandwidth, while the second SRS hop 510b may correspond to a second (different) portion of the total bandwidth. Thus, the UE may detect over the total bandwidth, and may do so in multiple symbols with frequency hopping, and may therefore detect only a portion of the total bandwidth in any one symbol with frequency hopping.
[0097] Therefore, the base station may not be able to combine each FD basis determined for the bandwidth covered by the first SRS hopping 510a and the bandwidth covered by the second SRS hopping 510b, respectively. Specifically, phase jitter may prevent the base station from combining multiple FD bases corresponding to different parts of the bandwidth, and therefore, the base station may not be able to resolve the precoding information to support the entire bandwidth over which the base station can send CSI-RS.
[0098] In contrast, to apply precoding to the CSI-RS in the downlink bandwidth 504, the base station may use a first group of base stations 522 (e.g., FD-SD basis) corresponding to the first portion of the bandwidth 514a and a second group of base stations 524 (e.g., FD-SD basis) corresponding to the second portion of the bandwidth 514b. The base station may derive a final precoding format and / or precoding matrix by combining the first group of base stations 522 and the second group of base stations 524, which may be applied to precode the CSI-RS on the downlink bandwidth 504.
[0099] For example, the first set of bases 522 may be expressed as vectors and / or matrices or The second group of or In some aspects, or Can be used with or The precoding matrix and the final precoding format are combined to obtain a precoding matrix or a final precoding format, which is expressed as W. The precoding matrix or the final precoding format may then be applied to the CSI-RS transmitted by the base station on the CSI-RS bandwidth 512 .
[0100] In view of the above, precoding by the base station for a UE may be hindered by an SRS configuration in which frequency hopping is enabled for the UE. Therefore, disabling frequency hopping during SRS transmission by the UE may address such issues, thereby facilitating precoding using SRS in the derivation of the FD-SD basis by the base station (e.g., at least partially precoding CSI-RS for transmission to the UE).
[0101] However, in some other cases, frequency hopping during SRS transmissions by the UE may still be applicable. Therefore, completely disabling frequency hopping during all SRS transmissions by the UE may be undesirable and potentially detrimental to effectively probing all ports on the SRS resources of the SRS resource set.
[0102] Therefore, as described in the present disclosure, the UE may be configured with two or more resource allocations for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set. Each resource allocation may include a corresponding time resource allocation and a corresponding frequency resource allocation. That is, the UE may be configured with multiple resource allocations, each of which may include a corresponding time and frequency resource mapping, for example, wherein at least one set of time and frequency resources is defined for each resource allocation. By configuring at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set, an increase in the number of (non-periodic) SRS resource sets may be avoided (for example, because the same SRS resource set may be used, but with different time and / or frequency resource mappings), thereby avoiding or reducing the signaling overhead (e.g., RRC signaling overhead) that would otherwise be commensurate with configuring multiple SRS resource sets.
[0103] The UE may then select one of the two or more resource allocations when transmitting the SRS. The base station may configure the UE to have one of the multiple resource allocations according to which the UE should use resources for SRS transmission. In particular, the base station may determine which resource allocation is preferred for the context of the SRS transmission to be used, and the base station may then configure the UE to have the preferred resource allocation.
[0104] The base station may refrain from configuring the UE with a resource allocation. In this case, the UE may (autonomously) select one of the resource allocations. For example, one of the resource allocations that the UE is configured with may be designated as a "default" resource allocation. The UE may select the default resource allocation when the UE does not receive information indicating which resource allocation the UE is to utilize for SRS transmission.
[0105] Various aspects and other details related to SRS transmission by a UE to a base station based on dynamic selection of resource allocations are also described herein.
[0106] Figure 6 6 is a call flow diagram illustrating example operations for a UE to perform SRS transmission based on selection of resource allocation of corresponding SRS resources of an SRS resource set in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure. Figure 1 and Figure 3 In the context of , UE 604 may be implemented as UE 104 and / or UE 350 , and base station 602 may be implemented as base station 102 / 180 and / or base station 310 .
[0107] In order to configure the UE 604 with resource allocations for SRS transmission, the base station 602 may determine (e.g., generate, allocate, schedule, etc.) at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. Each of the at least two resource allocations may include a corresponding time resource allocation and a corresponding frequency resource allocation. That is, each resource allocation of the corresponding SRS resource may map the SRS transmission to at least one symbol of a time slot and a group of subcarriers or RBs (e.g., a portion of a carrier system bandwidth).
[0108] For example, each SRS resource may be associated with two values or other information that map the corresponding SRS in the time domain and two values or other information that map the corresponding SRS in the frequency domain. In the time domain, the two values or other information may include two symbols or two groups of symbols. In the frequency domain, the two values or other information may include two groups of subcarriers or two groups of RBs.
[0109] Each of the two resource allocations may include a time domain configuration for a corresponding SRS resource, the time domain configuration defining at least one of a starting position, a number of symbols, and / or a repetition factor. Illustratively, the starting position may include information indicating a symbol in a time slot to which the beginning of the corresponding SRS resource is mapped, such as an index corresponding to one of symbols 8 to 13 for a normal CP (e.g., see above). Figure 4 ). The number of symbols may indicate the number of (OFDM) symbols to which the SRS resources are mapped, such as one, two, or four. The repetition factor may indicate the number of equal consecutive SRS transmissions in a symbol of a slot, which may be less than the number of symbols when frequency hopping is enabled.
[0110] In addition, each of the two resource allocations may include a frequency domain configuration for the corresponding SRS resource, the frequency domain configuration defining at least one of a frequency domain positioning, a frequency domain shift, a frequency hopping configuration, and / or a transmission comb configuration. The frequency domain positioning may indicate the frequency origin of the corresponding SRS resource in the RB relative to the carrier origin. Together with the frequency domain positioning, the frequency domain shift indicates information for adjusting the frequency allocation of the SRS resource to align with the common RB grid - for example, the frequency domain shift may include a shift of a multiple of four RBs.
[0111] The frequency hopping configuration may enable or disable frequency hopping for the corresponding SRS resource and may define the frequency hopping pattern according to which the corresponding SRS resource is to be mapped. The transmission comb configuration may indicate a comb value (e.g., two, four, or eight) and / or a comb offset and may thus define the subcarriers to which the corresponding SRS resource is mapped.
[0112] As described herein (e.g., with respect to Figure 5 ), configuring at least one resource allocation of the SRS resource set for wideband sounding can facilitate precoding by the base station, and the base station 602 can configure a set of resource allocations of the SRS resources in the SRS resource set to disable frequency hopping. However, the base station 602 can configure another set of resource allocations of the SRS resources in the SRS resource set to enable frequency hopping, for example, because in some contexts other than the derivation of the FD-SD basis, frequency hopping may be desirable for SRS transmission.
[0113] In some aspects, the base station 602 may configure one set of resource allocations of the SRS resource configuration of the SRS resource set to have one transmission comb configuration. The base station 602 may also configure another set of resource allocations of the SRS resources of the SRS resource set to have a different transmission comb configuration. By way of illustration and not limitation, the base station 602 may configure one set of resource allocations to have a transmission comb of every two subcarriers and no offset for the SRS resources of the SRS resource set, but may configure another set of resource allocations to have a transmission comb of every four subcarriers and an offset of two for the SRS resources of the SRS resource set.
[0114] The base station 602 may configure the transmission comb differently in different resource allocations for the SRS resource set in order to increase SRS capacity, which may facilitate the base station 602 to perform wideband sounding (e.g., when a relatively large transmission comb size is configured). In some aspects, the base station 602 may configure some resource allocations of the SRS resource set for wideband sounding and other resource allocations of the SRS resource set for frequency hopping; however, the base station 602 may not necessarily configure those resource allocations of the SRS resource set to use one transmission comb and those other resource allocations of the SRS resource set to use another transmission comb. The reverse of the above may also be true—for example, the resource allocations may be configured to use frequency hopping, but with different transmission combs.
[0115] The base station 602 may then send at least one SRS configuration 622 to the UE 604, and the at least one SRS configuration 622 may include information indicating each of the (time and frequency) resource allocations of the corresponding SRS resources of the SRS resource set configured for the UE 604. In some aspects, the base station 602 may send the at least one SRS configuration 622 to the UE 604 via RRC signaling.
[0116] For example, the at least one SRS configuration 622 may be sent as an IE, such as an SRS-Config IE having a set of fields indicating at least two resource allocations. The at least one SRS configuration 622 may include at least one field associated with resource mapping (e.g., a resourceMapping field) that conveys time domain information of the resource allocation. In addition, the at least one SRS configuration 622 may include one or more other fields associated with resource mapping (e.g., freqDomainPosition, freqDomainShift, transmissionComb, freqHopping fields) that convey frequency domain information of the resource allocation.
[0117] In some aspects, at least one SRS configuration 622 may include at least two RRC IEs. One RRC IE sent by the base station 602 to the UE 604 may include a resource allocation configured for wideband sounding using SRS resources of an SRS resource set, and another RRC IE sent by the base station 602 to the UE 604 may include a resource allocation configured for frequency hopping using SRS resources of an SRS resource set.
[0118] In some other aspects, at least one SRS configuration 622 may be an RRC IE. The one RRC IE sent by the base station 602 to the UE 604 may include a resource allocation configured to utilize SRS resources of the SRS resource set for wideband sounding, and may also include a resource allocation configured to utilize SRS resources in the SRS resource set for frequency hopping.
[0119] In some aspects, one or more additional fields may be added to the RRC IE to convey multiple resource allocations of SRS resources for an SRS resource set in one RRC IE. In some other aspects, one or more fields of the RRC IE may be extended to convey multiple resource allocations of SRS resources for an SRS resource set in one RRC IE.
[0120] In order to convey time domain resource allocation information in the RRC IE, the "resource mapping" field (e.g., resourceMapping) can be extended to include two (or more) sequences, so that each subfield in the resource mapping subfield includes at least a first value for one resource allocation and a second value for another resource configuration. Specifically, the start positioning subfield (e.g., startPosition) can include a first value of the start positioning subfield for one resource allocation and a second value of the start positioning subfield for another resource allocation. The symbol number subfield (e.g., nrofSymbols) can include a first value of the symbol number subfield for one resource allocation and a second value of the symbol number subfield for another resource allocation (e.g., each of the first value and the second value can be configured from an enumerated set of symbol value values (such as {n1, n2, n4})). A repetition factor subfield (e.g., repetitionFactor) may include a first value of the repetition factor subfield for one resource allocation and a second value of the repetition factor subfield for another resource allocation (e.g., each of the first value and the second value may be configured from an enumerated set of repetition factor values (such as {n1, n2, n4})).
[0121] Similarly, in order to transmit frequency domain resource allocation information in an RRC IE, one or more fields of the RRC IE associated with the frequency domain mapping may be extended to include two (or more) sequences, such that each of the fields associated with the frequency domain mapping includes at least a first value for one resource allocation and a second value for another resource configuration. Thus, a frequency domain positioning field (e.g., freqDomainPosition) may include a first value for one resource allocation and a second value for another resource allocation. For example, the frequency domain positioning field may include two integers, each of which is configured to be from a set (0...67). In addition, a frequency domain shift field (e.g., freqDomainShift) may include a first value for one resource allocation and a second value for another resource allocation. For example, the frequency domain shift field may include two integers, each of which is configured to be from a set (0...268).
[0122] In addition, the frequency hopping field may include a sequence of two (or more) of a set of subfields that define (and enable) a frequency hopping pattern. For example, the frequency hopping field may include three subfields: (1) c-SRS; (2) b-SRS; and (3) b-hop. In order to convey information for each of two (or more) resource allocations, two (or more) values may be defined for each of the aforementioned subfields. Illustratively, the c-SRS subfield may include two integers configured from a set (0...63), the b-SRS subfield may include two integers configured from a set (0...3), and the b-hop subfield may include two integers configured from a set (0...3), and for each of the aforementioned subfields, one of the corresponding integers is configured to correspond to one resource allocation (e.g., for wideband sounding), and the other of the corresponding integers is set to correspond to another resource configuration (e.g., where frequency hopping is enabled).
[0123] Correspondingly, the UE 604 may receive the at least one SRS configuration 622 from the base station 602, for example, via RRC signaling (e.g., SRS-Config IE). Therefore, the UE 604 may be configured with two sets of resource allocations for SRS resources of an SRS resource set, wherein one set of resource allocations is configured for wideband sounding, and the other set of resource allocations is configured for frequency hopping and / or default use.
[0124] UE 604 may then transmit an SRS on the SRS resources of the SRS resource set. However, UE 604 may be configured for aperiodic SRS transmission. For example, the SRS resource set that UE 604 is configured with may be configured as aperiodic, and therefore, base station 602 may send an SRS trigger 626 to UE 604, the SRS trigger including information that triggers aperiodic SRS transmission by UE 604. SRS trigger 626 may be included in, for example, a DCI or RRC message, as further described herein.
[0125] Thus, the UE 604 may receive an SRS trigger 626 from the base station 602 and, based thereon, may use one of at least two resource allocations of the SRS resource configuration for the SRS resource set to send the SRS on the SRS resources in the SRS resource set. To do so, the UE 604 may first determine 628 which of the at least two resource allocations the UE 604 will use to map the SRS resources of the SRS resource set.
[0126] The determination 628 of the UE 604 may be made relatively close to a point in time at which the UE 604 transmits the SRS on the SRS resources of the SRS resource set. Effectively, the UE 604 may dynamically determine the (time and frequency) resources to which the UE 604 is to map the SRS resources of the SRS resource set, e.g., the UE 604's determination 628 of the time and frequency resource allocation to use is simultaneous with the reception of the SRS trigger 626.
[0127] In some aspects, the base station 602 may send SRS selection information 624 to the UE 604, and the SRS selection information 626 may include information that configures the UE 604 to have a set of resource allocations for the SRS resources of the SRS resource set. Thus, the UE 604 may determine 628 one of the at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set based on the SRS selection information 624 received from the base station 602.
[0128] However, in some other aspects, the base station 602 may refrain from sending the SRS selection information 624 to the UE 604. As a result, the UE 604 may not receive information from the base station 602 based on which the UE 604 may determine 628 which resource allocations to use for the SRS resource set. When the UE 604 does not receive such SRS selection information 624 from the base station 602, the UE 604 may determine that a "default" resource allocation is to be used for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. For example, the default resource allocation for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set may be a resource allocation in which frequency hopping is enabled using a frequency hopping pattern.
[0129] When sent by the base station 602, the UE 604 may receive the SRS selection information 624 and, based thereon, may determine 628 one of at least two resource allocations to be used for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. The SRS selection information 624 may be sent by the base station 602 via DCI and / or RRC signaling. In some aspects, the SRS selection information 624 may be sent in the same message as the SRS trigger 626. In some other aspects, the SRS selection information 624 may be sent in a different message than the SRS trigger 626.
[0130] In some aspects, an SRS resource set having multiple resource allocations for each SRS resource configuration may be configured such that a particular trigger value corresponds to a resource allocation to be used for the SRS resource set. In other words, a one-to-one association may be configured between each trigger value and a corresponding set of resource allocations used to map the SRS resource set. For example, an SRS resource set may be configured with one aperiodic SRS resource trigger for one set of resource allocations and another aperiodic SRS resource trigger for another set of resource configurations - for example, the SRS resource set may be configured as aperiodicSRS-ResourceTrigger=1 and aperiodicSRS-ResourceTriggerList{1}=2ds.
[0131] Such a one-to-one correspondence can be implemented as a dynamic indication via DCI (such as in the SRS request field), so the base station 602 can set the SRS request field of the DCI message to a first value (e.g., 01) to trigger SRS transmission of the UE 604 using a first set of resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. Alternatively, the base station 602 can set the RS request field of the DCI message to a second value (e.g., 10) to trigger SRS transmission of the UE 604 using a second set of resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. Table 2 illustrates an example of a one-to-one association between an SRS trigger and a resource allocation selection for an SRS resource set.
[0132] DCI code point Resource Mapping 01 First resource mapping (e.g., frequency hopping on SRS resources of an SRS resource set) 10 Second resource mapping (e.g., wideband sounding without frequency hopping)
[0133] Table 2
[0134] In some other aspects, the base station 602 may transmit the SRS selection information 624 via a DCI with a codepoint-based (dynamic) indication. Potentially, the DCI with such a codepoint-based indication may additionally serve as an SRS trigger 626. In such other aspects, the base station 602 may indicate the SRS selection information 624 as a codepoint in a DCI that is one of a DCI that schedules data for the UE 604, a DCI that does not schedule data for the UE 604, or a multicast DCI.
[0135] In some cases where the base station 602 transmits the SRS selection information 624 via a DCI for scheduling data for the UE 604, a resource allocation table may be used for a code point to indicate the SRS selection information 624. For example, a code point column may be configured (e.g., added) to a time domain resource allocation (TDRA) table or a frequency domain resource allocation (FDRA) table associated with an uplink or downlink grant to indicate a time slot offset. The code point column may then transmit a code point 624 indicating the SRS selection information. The presence of a code point in a designated column of a TDRA or FDRA table may additionally be used as an SRS trigger 626, which prompts the UE 604 to send an SRS on an SRS resource set.
[0136] However, when the base station 602 actually has data to be scheduled for the UE 604 (e.g., on the PDSCH for the downlink or the PUSCH for the uplink), the base station 602 may send such a scheduling DCI, and thus, the flexibility of dynamically configuring the UE 604 with one of two or more resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set may be reduced. That is, when the base station 602 has uplink data (e.g., on the PUSCH) or downlink data (e.g., on the PDSCH) to be scheduled for the UE 604, the base station 602 may send a scheduling DCI that includes a code point for the resource allocation for the SRS resource set. Since the base station 602 may not permanently schedule uplink or downlink data for the UE 604, a situation may occur in which the base station 602 cannot send a code point indicating the SRS selection information 624 (and potential SRS trigger 626) to the UE 604 because the base station 602 does not have any uplink or downlink data to schedule for the UE 604.
[0137] In other cases where the base station 602 transmits the SRS selection information 624 via a DCI that does not schedule data for the UE 604, one or more fields may be repurposed or reused to indicate which of two or more sets of resource allocations of SRS resources of the SRS resource set the UE is to use. Specifically, one or more "unused" bits of a DCI field that may not be used in such a non-scheduled DCI may be repurposed as a code point indicating the SRS selection information 624.
[0138] For example, a DCI that does not schedule data for the UE 604 may include a field associated with a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) to be employed by the UE 604 for the data. The MCS field may include multiple bits (e.g., five bits), and some or all of the bits of the MCS field may instead be used to convey a code point corresponding to which of the resource allocations is to be used by the UE 604 for SRS transmission. Such a code point may additionally serve as an SRS trigger 626 that prompts the UE 604 to send an SRS on the SRS resource set.
[0139] In some further examples where the base station 602 transmits the SRS selection information 624 via a multicast DCI (e.g., GC-DCI), a group of bits assigned to the UE 604 can be used to indicate the SRS selection information 622. For example, the multicast DCI can include one or more blocks of bits (e.g., a block of bits can include one or more bits), each of which is assigned to a corresponding UE in a group including the UE 604. The base station 602 can set one or more bits of the block of bits respectively assigned to the UE 604 to indicate the SRS selection information 624. In particular, the base station 602 can set one or more bits of the block of bits respectively assigned to the UE 604 to a code point corresponding to the resource allocation of each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. The base station 602 can additionally transmit the SRS trigger 626 in the block of bits respectively assigned to the UE 604, for example, as an implicit indication in the code point, or as an explicit indication in one or more other bits different from the bits used to transmit the SRS selection information 624.
[0140] In other aspects, the base station 602 may transmit the SRS selection information 624 via an aperiodic CSI request. Illustratively, the base station 602 may use the aperiodic CSI request to jointly trigger an aperiodic CSI report and an aperiodic SRS transmission having one of at least two resource allocations configured for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set. For example, the base station 602 may configure the aperiodic CSI request in an uplink DCI of format 0 0, 0 1, and / or 0 2 to jointly trigger an aperiodic CSI report and an aperiodic SRS transmission having a resource allocation of an SRS resource set configured for wideband sounding (i.e., frequency hopping may be disabled for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set). Since the aperiodic CSI request may jointly trigger an aperiodic SRS transmission, the aperiodic CSI request may also be used as an SRS trigger 626 in addition to the SRS selection information 624.
[0141] To configure the UE 604 to use the other resource allocation for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set, the base station 602 may trigger the aperiodic SRS transmission separately (e.g., via a DCI field separate from transmitting the aperiodic CSI request). Thus, the separate triggering of the aperiodic SRS transmission may indicate the SRS triggering 626 and the SRS selection information 624, wherein the SRS selection information 626 is implicitly indicated via the separate triggering of the aperiodic SRS transmission.
[0142] The SRS selection information 624 may be implicitly indicated via a separate trigger for aperiodic SRS transmission to configure the UE 604 to use other or default resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. For example, a separate trigger for aperiodic SRS transmission may implicitly indicate that a corresponding resource allocation in which frequency hopping is enabled will be used for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set.
[0143] Thus, the UE 604 may receive SRS selection information 624 and an SRS trigger 626 from the base station 602 - for example, potentially in the same message (such as a DCI), and / or implicitly indicating one or both of the SRS selection information 626 and / or the SRS trigger 626. Based on the SRS selection information 624, the UE 604 may determine 628 one of at least two (time and frequency) resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. As previously described, if the SRS selection information 624 is not present, the UE 604 may determine to use a default resource allocation for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. However, if the SRS selection information 624 indicates one of at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource, the UE 604 may determine to use the indicated (time and frequency) resource allocation for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set.
[0144] According to various aspects, the UE 604 can map each SRS resource in the SRS resource set to (multiple) time and frequency resources corresponding to the corresponding time and frequency resource allocation based on the determination 628. The UE 604 can then send the SRS 630 on those time and frequency resources to which each SRS resource in the SRS resource set is mapped. Correspondingly, the base station 602 can receive the SRS 630 from the UE 604 on those time and frequency resources to which the UE 604 maps each SRS resource in the SRS resource set.
[0145] refer to Figure 7 , diagram 700 illustrates an example resource allocation for SRS transmission according to various aspects of the present disclosure. For example, the first resource allocation 702 may be a default resource allocation, and the second resource allocation 704 may be a resource allocation for wideband sounding.
[0146] exist Figure 6 In the context of , the base station 602 can send an SRS configuration 622 indicating the first and second resource allocations 702, 704 to the UE 604. In addition, the base station 602 can send SRS selection information 624 to the UE 604 to indicate which of the first or second resource allocations 702, 704 the UE 604 will use. Based on the SRS selection information 624, the UE 604 can make a determination 628 whether to use the first resource allocation 702 or the second resource allocation 704.
[0147] In the illustrated example, the SRS resource set 710 may include four SRS resources 712a-d. When the UE 604 determines to use the first resource allocation 702 (e.g., a default resource allocation), the UE 604 may map the first SRS resource 712a to a first group of RBs in (OFDM) symbol 10, the second SRS resource 712b to a second group of RBs in symbol 11, the third SRS resource 712c to a third group of RBs in symbol 12, and the fourth SRS resource 712d to a fourth group of RBs in symbol 13. Since frequency hopping may be enabled according to the first resource allocation, the UE 604 may map each of the SRS resources 712a-d to a different portion of the wideband bandwidth on symbols 10 to 13. The UE 604 may then transmit the SRS 630 on the resources to which the SRS resources 712a-d of the SRS resource set 710 are mapped.
[0148] However, when the UE 604 determines to use the second resource allocation 704 (e.g., for wideband sounding), the UE 604 may map each of the SRS resources 712a-d to a different portion of the wideband bandwidth, but may map each of the SRS resources 712a-d to (OFDM) symbol 10. The UE 604 may then send an SRS 630 on the resources of the SRS resource set 710 to which the SRS resources 712a-d are mapped, which may sound on the wideband bandwidth because frequency hopping is disabled.
[0149] Figure 8 800 is a diagram illustrating other example resource allocations for SRS transmissions according to various aspects of the present disclosure. Specifically, Figure 8 The figure shows a first resource allocation 802 and a second resource allocation 804 for one SRS resource of an SRS resource set. In the first resource allocation 802, the transmission comb can be configured with a value of 2, and the comb offset can be configured with a value of 0 (or no offset). The second resource allocation 804 can similarly include a comb offset configured with a value of zero (or no offset), but can include a transmission comb configured with a value of 4.
[0150] When the UE 604 determines to use the first resource allocation 702 (e.g., the default resource allocation), the UE 604 may map the first SRS resource 810 to the first group of subcarriers in the (OFDM) symbol 10. Specifically, since the transmission comb may be configured with a value of 2, the UE 604 may map the first SRS resource 810 to every other subcarrier in the portion of the bandwidth (e.g., a group of RBs) configured to carry the first SRS resource thereon. In symbol 10, the UE 604 may then transmit the SRS 630 of the first SRS resource on every other subcarrier of the frequency bandwidth in which the first SRS resource 810 is configured.
[0151] However, for the second resource allocation 804, the transmission comb may be configured with a value of 4. Thus, the UE 604 may map the first SRS resource 810 to every four subcarriers in the portion of the bandwidth (e.g., RB set) configured to carry the first SRS resource thereon. In symbol 10, the UE 604 may then transmit an SRS 630 of the first SRS resource on every four subcarriers of the frequency bandwidth in which the first SRS resource 1110 is configured.
[0152] Fig. 9 900 is a flowchart of a method for wireless communication by a UE according to various aspects of the present disclosure. The method may be performed by a UE (e.g., UE 104, 350, 604) and / or another device (e.g., device 1102). According to different aspects, one or more of the operations illustrated in flowchart 900 may be swapped, omitted, and / or performed simultaneously. For example, operations shown in dashed lines may be omitted in some aspects.
[0153] At 902, the UE may receive an SRS configuration from a base station, the SRS configuration indicating at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in an SRS resource set. Each of the at least two resource allocations may include a corresponding time resource allocation and a corresponding frequency resource allocation. Figure 6 In the context of , UE 604 may receive SRS configuration 622 from base station 602.
[0154] In some aspects, the time resource allocation of each of the at least two resource allocations may be configured with one or more of a starting position, a number of symbols, or a repetition factor associated with a resource mapping of a corresponding SRS resource. In some other aspects, the frequency resource allocation of each of the at least two resource allocations may be configured with one or more of a frequency domain position or a frequency domain shift associated with a resource mapping of a corresponding SRS resource.
[0155] At 904, the UE may receive a resource allocation information configuration selection of one of the at least two resource allocations from the base station. Figure 6 In the context of , the UE 604 may receive SRS selection information 624 from the base station 602 .
[0156] In some aspects, the information configuration selection for the one of the at least two resource allocations can be included in a trigger value associated with the aperiodic SRS transmission. In some further aspects, the trigger value has a one-to-one association with the one of the at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set.
[0157] In a further aspect, the information configuration selection for one of the at least two resource allocations may be included in a DCI.The DCI may include at least one code point, and the at least one code point may indicate the information configuration selection for the one of the at least two resource allocations.
[0158] In some additional aspects, the DCI may be one of a DCI for UE scheduling information, a DCI in which scheduling information is not present, or a multicast DCI. For example, the DCI in which scheduling information is not present may include a set of bit fields associated with scheduling data, and at least one code point indicating an information configuration selection for one of at least two resource allocations may be included in a set of bit fields associated with scheduling data. In another example, the DCI for UE scheduling information may include at least one code point associated with at least one of a time domain resource allocation or a frequency domain resource allocation, and at least one code point indicating an information configuration selection for the one of the at least two resource allocations may be indicated by the at least one code point associated with at least one of the time domain resource allocation or the frequency domain resource allocation. In a further example, the multicast DCI may include a block of bits assigned to the UE, and at least one code point indicating an information configuration selection for the one of the at least two resource allocations may be included in the block of bits assigned to the UE.
[0159] In yet other aspects, when SRS on corresponding SRS resources of an SRS resource set is jointly triggered based on an aperiodic CSI request included in a DCI, the information configuration selection for the one of at least two resource allocations of the corresponding SRS resource may indicate that the one of the at least two resource allocations is a broadband resource allocation. Additionally or alternatively, when SRS on corresponding SRS resources of an SRS resource set is triggered based on an independent SRS trigger included in a DCI, the information configuration selection for the one of at least two resource allocations of the corresponding SRS resource indicates that the one of the at least two resource allocations is a default resource allocation.
[0160] At 906, the UE may select one of at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. The UE may configure the selection based on information of the one of the at least two resource allocations received from the base station to select one of the at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. For example, first, the UE may identify a value (e.g., a code point) associated with the SRS resource set. In some aspects, the value may additionally trigger a non-periodic SRS transmission by the UE. Next, the UE may determine which of the at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource corresponds to the identified value (e.g., code point). In some aspects, the UE may store a lookup table or other mapping of values (e.g., code points) to resource allocations for each SRS resource, and the UE may identify the resource allocation for each SRS resource corresponding to the identified value based on the lookup table or other mapping. Figure 6 In the context of , the UE 604 may determine 628 one of at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. In some aspects, the UE 604 may make the determination 628 based on the SRS selection information 624 received from the base station 602.
[0161] In some aspects, the frequency resource allocation for one of the at least two resource allocations for corresponding SRS resources may be configured without frequency hopping and the frequency resource allocation for another of the at least two resource allocations for corresponding SRS resources may be configured with frequency hopping.
[0162] In some other aspects, a frequency resource allocation for one of at least two resource allocations for corresponding SRS resources may be configured with one transmission comb value, and a frequency resource allocation for another of at least two resource allocations for corresponding SRS resources may be configured with another transmission comb value.
[0163] In still other aspects, the one of the at least two resource allocations may be selected based on a default selection preconfigured in the UE.
[0164] At 908, the UE may send an SRS to the base station on a corresponding SRS resource of the SRS resource set based on the (determined) one of the at least two resource allocations for the corresponding SRS resource. Figure 6In the context of , the UE 604 can send an SRS 630 to the base station 602 on a corresponding SRS resource of the SRS resource set based on one of at least two resource allocations for the corresponding SRS resource. The one of the at least two resource allocations for the corresponding SRS resource can be based on the determination 628 of the UE 604.
[0165] In some aspects, a UE may receive a DCI that may include at least one code point, and the at least one code point may indicate an information configuration selection of one of at least two resource allocations. The at least one code point may also trigger transmission of an SRS on a corresponding SRS resource of an SRS resource set.
[0166] Fig.10 1000 is a flowchart of a method for wireless communication by a base station according to various aspects of the present disclosure. The method may be performed by a base station (e.g., base station 102 / 180, 310, 602) and / or another device (e.g., device 1202). According to different aspects, one or more of the operations illustrated in flowchart 1000 may be swapped, omitted, and / or performed simultaneously. For example, operations shown in dashed lines may be omitted in some aspects.
[0167] At 1002, the base station may send an SRS configuration to the UE, the SRS configuration indicating at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set. Each of the at least two resource allocations may include a corresponding time resource allocation and a corresponding frequency resource allocation. Figure 6 In the context of , the base station 602 can send an SRS configuration 622 to the UE 604.
[0168] In some aspects, the time resource allocation of each of the at least two resource allocations may be configured with one or more of a starting position, a number of symbols, or a repetition factor associated with a resource mapping of a corresponding SRS resource. In some other aspects, the frequency resource allocation of each of the at least two resource allocations may be configured with one or more of a frequency domain position or a frequency domain shift associated with a resource mapping of a corresponding SRS resource.
[0169] At 1004, the base station may send information configuration selection of one of the at least two resource allocations to the UE. Figure 6 In the context of , the base station 602 can send SRS selection information 624 to the UE 604.
[0170] In some aspects, the information configuration selection for the one of the at least two resource allocations can be included in a trigger value associated with the aperiodic SRS transmission. In some further aspects, the trigger value has a one-to-one association with the one of the at least two resource allocations for each SRS resource in the SRS resource set.
