AI Technical Summary
In existing wireless communication systems, it is difficult to accurately model the interference distribution experienced by user equipment (UE), making it difficult for network entities to make effective scheduling decisions and affecting communication throughput and reliability.
The UE reports the interference it experiences as a hybrid distribution model, which includes a combination of multiple probability distributions. Network entities schedule wireless communications by receiving these distribution parameters. The hybrid distribution model can be a combination of Gaussian, inverse Gaussian, or inverse Weibull distributions.
It improves the network entity's ability to accurately model UE interference, enhances communication throughput and reliability, and reduces the complexity of scheduling decisions.

Abstract
Description
[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This patent application claims the benefit of U.S. patent application No. 17 / 841,328, entitled “INTERFERENCE REPORTING FOR WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS BASED ON MIXTURE DISTRIBUTIONS,” filed by MARZBAN et al. on June 15, 2022, which is assigned to the assignee of this application. Technical Field
[0003] The following relates to wireless communications, including interference reporting based on hybrid distribution. Background Art
[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasting, and the like. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems (such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, advanced LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems) and fifth generation (5G) systems (which may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems). These systems may employ techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations, each of which supports wireless communications for communication devices, which may be referred to as user equipment (UE). Summary of the invention
[0005] The described technology relates to improved methods, systems, devices and apparatuses for supporting interference reporting based on hybrid distribution. For example, the described technology provides that a wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) reports interference as a hybrid distribution model. A network entity may send a signal to a UE via one or more interference measurement resources. The UE may measure the signal to obtain interference measurements of a wireless communication channel. The UE may estimate a distribution representing interference observed by the UE based on the interference measurements. The distribution may be a hybrid distribution including one or more components (e.g., a hybrid distribution may include a combination of multiple probability distributions, and multiple probability distributions may be jointly represented and thus the hybrid distribution may represent interference). The granularity of the distribution may be related to the number of one or more components (e.g., how many individual probability distributions are jointly included in the hybrid distribution).
[0006] The UE may send an interference report to a network entity, the interference report including a corresponding set of one or more distribution parameters for each probability distribution of a mixed distribution, wherein the probability distribution may correspond to a component of the mixed distribution. For example, for a given probability distribution as a component of a mixed distribution, a corresponding set of distribution parameters may define or otherwise describe the corresponding probability distribution, for example, the corresponding set of distributions may include a mean, a covariance matrix, a mixed probability (e.g., a weight assigned to the probability distribution when combined with one or more other probability distributions included in the mixed distribution), a scale, a shape, or any combination thereof of the corresponding probability distribution. Which distribution parameters are included in the interference report for each of the constituent probability distributions of the mixed distribution may be based on the UE's mixed distribution reporting capability, the UE's mixed distribution reporting configuration, the type of the base distribution of the mixed distribution, or any combination thereof. The network entity may schedule wireless communications with the UE based on the interference report and the mixed distribution indicated therein.

[0050] Some wireless communication systems may support relatively flexible time slot structures, such as mini-time slots, reduced transmission burst sizes, flexible starting symbol positions, etc. In these or other cases, the interference distribution experienced by different user equipment (UE) within the wireless communication system may change (for example, the model used to estimate the observed interference may be specific to a given UE). Improved interference reporting by the UE can improve the throughput and reliability of communications between the network and multiple UEs, each of which experiences different levels of interference. In some cases, the UE may report interference via a channel state feedback (CSF) report. For example, the UE may indicate channel metrics via a CSF report based on measurements of one or more interference measurement resources. However, the channel metrics in the CSF report may include a combined metric associated with both the estimated interference level and the estimated channel quality, and the network entity may not be able to distinguish the impact of interference from the impact of other channel conditions or parameters on the CSF report. Additionally or alternatively, the CSF report may not indicate the distribution of interference experienced by the UE.
[0051] The techniques, systems, and devices described herein provide that a UE reports the interference experienced by the UE in the form of a mixed distribution model. A mixed distribution may include one or more components, each of which may be a probability distribution. The probability distribution in the combination (e.g., a weighted combination thereof) may represent the interference observed by the UE. That is, the mixed distribution may represent the interference at the UE as a combination (e.g., a mixture) of multiple probability distributions (e.g., multiple Gaussian probability distributions or multiple other types of probability distributions). The UE may determine the probability distribution based on measurements of reference signals sent by a network entity via interference measurement resources in a wireless communication channel. For each probability distribution, the UE may identify and report one or more corresponding distribution parameters, such as a mean, covariance, mixed probability, shape, or any combination thereof. Therefore, the interference report as described herein may be configured to indicate a corresponding set of one or more distribution parameters for each probability distribution of the mixed distribution.
[0052] A network entity may receive an interference report and determine a hybrid distribution representing interference at a UE based on a corresponding set of one or more distribution parameters. The network entity may adjust or maintain parameters for wireless communications with the UE based on the hybrid distribution. Compared to a scenario in which the network entity may receive a CSF report or some other report including a combined channel metric, the network entity may use an interference report configured to convey interference in the form of a hybrid distribution model to determine the interference experienced by the UE with improved reliability and reduced complexity. Such techniques may improve scheduling decisions of the network entity, which may improve the throughput of communications.
[0053] In some aspects, a UE may send a capability message indicating the UE's ability to support hybrid distribution reporting of one or more types of distributions. The capability message may indicate the type of base distribution supported by the UE (e.g., Gaussian distribution, inverse Gaussian distribution, inverse Weibull distribution), the maximum number of components within a single hybrid distribution supported by the UE (e.g., granularity of interference reporting), or both. Additionally or alternatively, a network entity may send a control message indicating a hybrid distribution reporting configuration of the UE, and the type of base distribution, the maximum number of components, or both may be based on the hybrid distribution reporting capability.
[0054] Various aspects of the present disclosure are first described in the context of a wireless communication system. Additional aspects are described with reference to interference distributions, covariance matrices, and process flows. Various aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow charts related to interference reporting based on hybrid distributions. Although examples herein may be described in the context of a UE performing interference reporting based on a hybrid distribution and sending such reports to a network entity, it should be understood that the teachings herein may alternatively be applied to other types of wireless devices.
[0055] Figure 1An example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting hybrid distribution-based interference reporting according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more network entities 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, an Advanced LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, a New Radio (NR) network, or a network operating according to other systems and radio technologies including future systems and radio technologies not explicitly mentioned herein.
[0056] The network entities 105 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form the wireless communication system 100, and may include devices in different forms or with different capabilities. In various examples, the network entities 105 may be referred to as network elements, mobility elements, radio access network (RAN) nodes, or network equipment, among other nomenclature. In some examples, the network entities 105 and the UE 115 may communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., radio frequency (RF) access links). For example, the network entity 105 may support a coverage area 110 (e.g., a geographic coverage area) within which the UE 115 and the network entity 105 may establish one or more communication links 125. The coverage area 110 may be an example of a geographic area within which the network entity 105 and the UE 115 may support signal communications according to one or more radio access technologies (RATs).
[0057] The UEs 115 may be dispersed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be stationary or mobile, or stationary and mobile at different times. The UEs 115 may be devices in different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some example UEs 115 are illustrated in FIG. 1. The UEs 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of devices such as Figure 1 Other UEs 115 or network entities 105 are shown communicating.
[0058] As described herein, a node of the wireless communication system 100 (which may be referred to as a network node or a wireless node) may be a network entity 105 (e.g., any network entity described herein), a UE 115 (e.g., any UE described herein), a network controller, an apparatus, a device, a computing system, one or more components, or another suitable processing entity configured to perform any of the techniques described herein. For example, the node may be a UE 115. As another example, the node may be a network entity 105. As another example, a first node may be configured to communicate with a second node or a third node. In one aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a UE 115. In another aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a network entity 105. In other aspects of this example, the first node, the second node, and the third node may be different relative to these examples. Similarly, references to UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, etc. may include disclosure of UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, etc. as nodes. For example, a disclosure that UE 115 is configured to receive information from network entity 105 also discloses that the first node is configured to receive information from a second node.
[0059] In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with the core network 130, or communicate with each other, or both. For example, the network entities 105 may communicate with the core network 130 via one or more backhaul communication links 120 (e.g., according to S1, N2, N3 or other interface protocols). In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with each other through the backhaul communication link 120 (e.g., according to X2, Xn or other interface protocols) directly (e.g., directly between each network entity 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130). In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with each other via the midhaul communication link 162 (e.g., according to the midhaul interface protocol) or the fronthaul communication link 168 (e.g., according to the fronthaul interface protocol) or any combination thereof. The backhaul communication link 120, the midhaul communication link 162, or the fronthaul communication link 168 may be or include one or more wired links (e.g., electrical links, optical fiber links), one or more wireless links (e.g., radio links, wireless optical links), etc. or various combinations thereof. UE 115 may communicate with core network 130 via communication link 155 .
[0060] One or more of the network entities 105 described herein may include or may be referred to as a base station 140 (e.g., a transceiver base station, a radio base station, an NR base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a Node B, an evolved Node B (eNB), a next-generation Node B, or a Gigabit Node B (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a 5G NB, a next-generation eNB (ng-eNB), a Home Node B, a Home Evolved Node B, or other suitable terms). In some examples, the network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) may be implemented in an aggregated (e.g., monolithic, stand-alone) base station architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically integrated within a single network entity 105 (e.g., a single RAN node, such as a base station 140).
[0061] In some examples, the network entity 105 may be implemented in a disaggregated architecture (e.g., a disaggregated base station architecture, a disaggregated RAN architecture) that may be configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed between two or more network entities 105, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance), or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN)). For example, the network entity 105 may include one or more of the following: a central unit (CU) 160, a distributed unit (DU) 165, a radio unit (RU) 170, a RAN intelligent controller (RIC) 175 (e.g., a near real-time RIC (near RT RIC), a non-real-time RIC (non-RT RIC)), a service management and orchestration (SMO) 180 system, or any combination thereof. The RU 170 may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH), a remote radio unit (RRU), or a transmit receive point (TRP). One or more components of the network entity 105 in the decomposed RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entity 105 may be located in distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations). In some examples, one or more network entities 105 of the decomposed RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., virtual CU (VCU), virtual DU (VDU), virtual RU (VRU)).
[0062] The functional split between CU 160, DU 165, and RU 170 is flexible and may support different functionalities, depending on which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, RF functions, and any combination thereof) are performed at CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between CU 160 and DU 165 such that CU 160 may support one or more layers of a protocol stack and DU 165 may support one or more different layers of a protocol stack. In some examples, CU 160 may host higher protocol layer (e.g., layer 3 (L3), layer 2 (L2)) functionality and signaling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC), service data adaptation protocol (SDAP), packet data convergence protocol (PDCP)). The CU 160 may be connected to one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170, and the one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170 may host lower protocol layers, such as layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, medium access control (MAC) layer) functionality and signaling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU 160. Additionally or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between the DU 165 and the RU 170, such that the DU 165 may support one or more layers of the protocol stack, and the RU 170 may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DU 165 may support one or more different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs 170). In some cases, the functional split between CU 160 and DU 165 or between DU 165 and RU 170 can be within the protocol layer (e.g., some functions of the protocol layer can be performed by one of CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by different ones of CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170). CU 160 can be further functionally split into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. CU 160 can be connected to one or more DUs 165 via midhaul communication links 162 (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u), and DU 165 can be connected to one or more RUs 170 via fronthaul communication links 168 (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface). In some examples, midhaul communication link 162 or fronthaul communication link 168 may be implemented based on interfaces (eg, channels) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 105 that communicate over those communication links.
[0063] In some wireless communication systems (e.g., wireless communication system 100), infrastructure and spectrum resources for radio access may support wireless backhaul link capabilities to supplement wired backhaul connections, thereby providing an IAB network architecture (e.g., to core network 130). In some cases, in an IAB network, one or more network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) may be partially controlled by each other. One or more IAB nodes 104 may be referred to as donor entities or IAB donors. One or more DUs 165 or one or more RUs 170 may be controlled in part by one or more CUs 160 associated with a donor network entity 105 (e.g., donor base station 140). One or more donor network entities 105 (e.g., IAB donors) may communicate with one or more additional network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) via supported access and backhaul links (e.g., backhaul communication links 120). The IAB node 104 may include an IAB mobile terminal (IAB-MT) controlled (e.g., scheduled) by a coupled IAB donor's DU 165. The IAB-MT may include an independent set of antennas for relaying communications with the UE 115, or may share the same antennas of the IAB node 104 (e.g., of the RU 170) for access via the DU 165 of the IAB node 104 (e.g., referred to as a virtual IAB-MT (vIAB-MT)). In some examples, the IAB node 104 may include a DU 165 that supports communication links with additional entities (e.g., IAB node 104, UE 115) within a relay chain or configuration (e.g., downstream) of the access network. In such cases, one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture (e.g., one or more IAB nodes 104 or components of the IAB node 104) may be configured to operate according to the techniques described herein.
[0064] For example, an access network (AN) or RAN may include an access node (e.g., an IAB donor), communications between an IAB node 104, and one or more UEs 115. The IAB donor may facilitate connectivity between the core network 130 and the AN (e.g., via a wired or wireless connection to the core network 130). That is, the IAB donor may refer to a RAN node having a wired or wireless connection to the core network 130. The IAB donor may include a CU 160 and at least one DU 165 (e.g., and RU 170), in which case the CU 160 may communicate with the core network 130 via an interface (e.g., a backhaul link). The IAB donor and the IAB node 104 may communicate via an F1 interface according to a protocol defining a signaling message (e.g., an F1 AP protocol). Additionally or alternatively, CU 160 may communicate with the core network via an interface (which may be an example of a portion of a backhaul link) and may communicate with other CUs 160 (e.g., CU 160 associated with an alternative IAB donor) via an Xn-C interface (which may be an example of a portion of a backhaul link).
[0065] The IAB node 104 may refer to a RAN node that provides IAB functions (e.g., access for UE 115, wireless self-backhaul capabilities, etc.). The DU 165 may act as a distributed scheduling node toward a child node associated with the IAB node 104, and the IAB-MT may act as a scheduled node toward a parent node associated with the IAB node 104. That is, the IAB donor may be referred to as a parent node that communicates with one or more child nodes (e.g., the IAB donor may relay transmissions to the UE through one or more other IAB nodes 104). Additionally or alternatively, the IAB node 104 may also be referred to as a parent node or child node of other IAB nodes 104, depending on the relay chain or configuration of the AN. Therefore, the IAB-MT entity of the IAB node 104 may provide a Uu interface for the child IAB node 104 to receive signaling from the parent IAB node 104, and the DU interface (e.g., DU 165) may provide a Uu interface for the parent IAB node 104 to signal to the child IAB node 104 or the UE 115.
[0066] For example, the IAB node 104 may be referred to as a parent node supporting child IAB node communications and as a child node associated with the IAB donor. The IAB donor may include a CU 160 having a wired or wireless connection (e.g., backhaul communication link 120) to the core network 130, and may act as a parent node of the IAB node 104. For example, the DU 165 of the IAB donor may relay transmission to the UE 115 through the IAB node 104, and may directly signal the UE 115 of the transmission. The CU 160 of the IAB donor may signal the IAB node 104 of the communication link establishment via the F1 interface, and the IAB node 104 may schedule the transmission (e.g., the transmission relayed from the IAB donor to the UE 115) through the DU 165. That is, data may be relayed to and from the IAB node 104 via signaling through the NRUu interface of the MT to the IAB node 104. Communications with the IAB node 104 may be scheduled by the DU 165 of the IAB donor, and communications with the IAB node 104 may be scheduled by the DU 165 of the IAB node 104 .
[0067] In the case where the techniques described herein are applied in the context of a decomposed RAN architecture, one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture may be configured to support the hybrid distribution-based interference reporting described herein. For example, some operations described as being performed by UE 115 or network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140) may be additionally or alternatively performed by one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture (e.g., IAB node 104, DU 165, CU 160, RU 170, RIC 175, SMO 180).
[0068] UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable term, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, etc. UE 115 may also include or may be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or a machine type communication (MTC) device, etc., which may be implemented in various objects such as appliances or vehicles, meters, etc.
[0069] The UE 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of devices such as other UEs 115 which may sometimes act as relays, as well as network entities 105 and network equipment including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay base stations, etc. Figure 1 shown.
[0070] The UE 115 and the network entity 105 may wirelessly communicate with each other via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., access links) on one or more carriers. The term "carrier" may refer to a set of RF spectrum resources having a physical layer structure defined for supporting the communication link 125. For example, a carrier for the communication link 125 may include a portion of an RF spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel may carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating carrier operations, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 may support communications with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. Depending on the carrier aggregation configuration, the UE 115 may be configured to have multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation may be used for both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers. Communication between the network entity 105 and other devices may refer to communication between these devices and any portion (e.g., entity, sub-entity) of the network entity 105. For example, the terms "send," "receive," or "communicate" when referring to the network entity 105 may refer to any portion of a network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, CU 160, DU 165, RU 170) of a RAN communicating with another device (e.g., directly or via one or more other network entities 105).
[0071] In some examples, such as in a carrier aggregation configuration, a carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling that coordinates the operation of other carriers. A carrier may be associated with a frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute RF Channel Number (EARFCN)) and may be located based on a channel raster for discovery by UE 115. A carrier may operate in a standalone mode, in which case initial acquisition and connection may be made by UE 115 via the carrier, or a carrier may operate in a non-standalone mode, in which case a different carrier (e.g., of the same or different radio access technology) is used to anchor the connection.
[0072] The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include downlink transmissions (e.g., forward link transmissions) from the network entity 105 to the UE 115, uplink transmissions (e.g., return link transmissions) from the UE 115 to the network entity 105, or both, as well as other transmission configurations. A carrier may carry downlink communications or uplink communications (e.g., in FDD mode), or may be configured to carry downlink communications and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode).
[0073] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of the RF spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as the "system bandwidth" of the carrier or wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of a set of bandwidths of carriers of a particular radio access technology (e.g., 1.4 megahertz (MHz), 3 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz, 20 MHz, 40 MHz, or 80 MHz). A device of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., a network entity 105, a UE 115, or both) may have a hardware configuration that supports communication over a particular carrier bandwidth, or may be configured to support communication over one of the carrier bandwidths in the set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a network entity 105 or a UE 115 that supports concurrent communication via carriers associated with multiple carrier bandwidths. In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured to operate on a portion (e.g., a subband, a BWP) or all of the carrier bandwidth.
[0074] The signal waveform transmitted by the carrier may include multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system using MCM technology, a resource element may refer to a symbol period (e.g., the duration of a modulation symbol) and a resource of a subcarrier, in which case the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing may be inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both), so that the more resource elements a device receives and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate of the device may be. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of RF spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial resources may increase the data rate or data integrity used for communication with UE 115.
[0075] One or more numerologies of a carrier may be supported, where the numerologies may include subcarrier spacing (Δf) and cyclic prefixes. A carrier may be divided into one or more BWPs with the same or different numerologies. In some examples, a UE 115 may be configured with multiple BWPs. In some examples, a single BWP of a carrier may be active at a given time, and communications of a UE 115 may be constrained to one or more active BWPs.
[0076] The time interval for the network entity 105 or the UE 115 may be expressed as a multiple of a basic time unit, which may be, for example, a sampling period T s =1 / (Δf max ·N f ) seconds, where Δf max It can represent the maximum supported subcarrier spacing, and N f The maximum supported discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size may be indicated. Time intervals of communication resources may be organized according to radio frames, each having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).
[0077] Each frame may include multiple consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, a frame may be divided into subframes (e.g., in the time domain), and each subframe may be further divided into a certain number of time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include a certain number of symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of the cyclic prefix appended in front of each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, the time slot may be further divided into multiple micro-time slots containing one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may contain one or more (e.g., N f The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.
[0078] A subframe, a time slot, a mini-time slot, or a symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmit time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of a shortened TTI (sTTI)).
[0079] Physical channels may be multiplexed on a carrier according to various techniques. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed on a downlink carrier using, for example, one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) of a physical control channel may be defined by a set of symbol periods and may extend across a system bandwidth of a carrier or a subset of that system bandwidth. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a set of UEs 115. For example, one or more UEs in UE 115 may monitor or search a control region to obtain control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates in one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. The aggregation level of a control channel candidate may refer to the amount of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for transmitting control information to multiple UEs 115 , and a UE-specific search space set for transmitting control information to a specific UE 115 .
[0080] The network entity 105 may provide communication coverage via one or more cells (e.g., macro cells, small cells, hot spots, or other types of cells, or any combination thereof). The term "cell" may refer to a logical communication entity used to communicate with the network entity 105 (e.g., via a carrier), and may be associated with an identifier (e.g., a physical cell identifier (PCID), a virtual cell identifier (VCID), or other cell identifier) used to distinguish adjacent cells. In some examples, a cell may also refer to a coverage area 110 or a portion of a coverage area 110 (e.g., a sector) on which a logical communication entity operates. Depending on various factors such as the capabilities of the network entity 105, such cells may range from smaller areas (e.g., structures, subsets of structures) to larger areas. For example, a cell may be or may include a building, a subset of a building, or an external space between or overlapping coverage areas 110, and the like.
[0081] A macro cell generally covers a relatively large geographic area (e.g., several kilometers in radius) and may allow unrestricted access to UEs 115 that have service subscriptions with a network provider that supports the macro cell. Small cells may be associated with lower power network entities 105 (e.g., lower power base stations 140) than macro cells, and small cells may operate in the same or different (e.g., licensed, unlicensed) frequency bands as macro cells. Small cells may provide unrestricted access to UEs 115 that have service subscriptions with a network provider, or may provide restricted access to UEs 115 associated with small cells (e.g., UEs 115 in a closed subscriber group (CSG), UEs 115 associated with users in a home or office). A network entity 105 may support one or more cells, and may also use one or more component carriers to support communications on one or more cells.
[0082] In some examples, a carrier may support multiple cells, and different cells may be configured according to different protocol types (e.g., MTC, narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB)) that may provide access to different types of devices.
[0083] In some examples, the network entities 105 (e.g., base stations 140, RUs 170) may be mobile and thus provide communication coverage for mobile coverage areas 110. In some examples, different coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but the different coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same network entity 105. In some other examples, overlapping coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different network entities 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of network entities 105 provide coverage for various coverage areas 110 using the same or different radio access technologies.
[0084] The wireless communication system 100 may support synchronous or asynchronous operation. For synchronous operation, the network entities 105 (e.g., base stations 140) may have similar frame timing, and transmissions from different network entities 105 may be approximately aligned in time. For asynchronous operation, the network entities 105 may have different frame timing, and in some examples, transmissions from different network entities 105 may not be aligned in time. The techniques described herein may be used for synchronous or asynchronous operation.
[0085] Some UEs 115, such as MTC or IoT devices, may be low-cost or low-complexity devices and may allow automated communication between machines (e.g., via machine-to-machine (M2M) communication). M2M communication or MTC may refer to data communication technology that allows devices to communicate with each other or with a network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140) without human intervention. In some examples, M2M communication or MTC may include communication from devices that integrate sensors or meters to measure or capture information and relay such information to a central server or application that utilizes the information or presents the information to a person interacting with the application. Some UEs 115 may be designed to collect information or implement automated behavior of machines or other devices. Examples of applications for MTC devices include: smart metering, inventory monitoring, water level monitoring, equipment monitoring, health care monitoring, field survival monitoring, weather and geographic event monitoring, fleet management and tracking, remote security sensing, physical access control, and transaction-based commercial charging.
[0086] Some UEs 115 may be configured to employ an operating mode that reduces power consumption, such as half-duplex communication (e.g., a mode that supports unidirectional communication via transmission or reception but does not transmit and receive concurrently). In some examples, half-duplex communication may be performed with a reduced peak rate. Other energy-saving techniques for UEs 115 include entering a power-saving deep sleep mode when not engaged in active communications, operating over a limited bandwidth (e.g., according to narrowband communications), or a combination of these techniques. For example, some UEs 115 may be configured to operate using a narrowband protocol type that is associated with a defined portion or range (e.g., a set of subcarriers or resource blocks (RBs)) within a carrier, within a guard band of a carrier, or outside a carrier.
[0087] The wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). UE 115 may be designed to support ultra-reliable or low-latency or critical functions. Ultra-reliable communication may include private communication or group communication, and may be supported by one or more services (such as push-to-talk, video, or data). Support for ultra-reliable, low-latency functions may include prioritization of services, and such services may be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency, and ultra-reliable low-latency may be used interchangeably herein.
[0088] In some examples, a UE 115 may be able to communicate directly with other UEs 115 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., according to a peer-to-peer (P2P), D2D, or sidelink protocol). In some examples, one or more UEs 115 in a group that are performing D2D communication may be within a coverage area 110 of a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140, a RU 170), which may support aspects of such D2D communication configured or scheduled by the network entity 105. In some examples, one or more UEs 115 in such a group may be outside of the coverage area 110 of the network entity 105, or may otherwise be unable or not configured to receive transmissions from the network entity 105. In some examples, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may support a one-to-many (1:M) system, in which each UE 115 transmits to each of the other UEs 115 in the group. In some examples, the network entity 105 may facilitate scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In some other examples, D2D communications may be performed between UEs 115 without involving network entity 105 .
[0089] In some systems, the D2D communication link 135 can be an example of a communication channel (such as a sidelink communication channel) between vehicles (e.g., UE 115). In some examples, the vehicles can communicate using vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, or some combination of these. The vehicles can signal information related to traffic conditions, signal scheduling, weather, safety, emergency situations, or any other information related to the V2X system. In some examples, vehicles in the V2X system can communicate with roadside infrastructure (such as roadside units) using vehicle-to-network (V2N) communications, or communicate with the network via one or more network nodes (e.g., network entity 105, base station 140, RU 170), or both.
[0090] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) for managing access and mobility and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)) for routing packets or interconnecting to an external network. The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management of UE 115 served by a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be delivered through the user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to the IP service 150 of one or more network operators. IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.
[0091] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands that may be in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Generally speaking, the region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelength ranges from about one decimeter to one meter in length. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features (which may be referred to as clusters), but these waves may be sufficient to penetrate structures so that macro cells provide services to UEs 115 located indoors. Transmission of UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter ranges (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) compared to transmission using smaller frequencies and longer wavelengths of the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.
[0092] The wireless communication system 100 may also operate in a super high frequency (SHF) region using a frequency band from 3 GHz to 30 GHz (also known as a centimeter band) or in an extremely high frequency (EHF) region of a spectrum (e.g., from 30 GHz to 300 GHz) (also known as a millimeter band). In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support millimeter wave (mmW) communications between a UE 115 and a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140, RU170), and the EHF antenna of the corresponding device may be smaller and closer than the UHF antenna. In some examples, this may facilitate the use of antenna arrays within the device. However, the propagation of EHF transmissions may be affected by greater atmospheric attenuation and a shorter range than SHF or UHF transmissions. The technology disclosed herein may be adopted across transmissions using one or more different frequency regions, and the use of frequency bands specified across these frequency regions may vary by country or regulatory agency.
[0093] The wireless communication system 100 may utilize licensed and unlicensed RF spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may use license assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band, such as the 5 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. When operating in an unlicensed RF spectrum band, devices such as the network entity 105 and the UE 115 may employ carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations in an unlicensed band may be based on a carrier aggregation configuration (e.g., LAA) in conjunction with component carriers operating in a licensed band. Operations in an unlicensed spectrum may include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, and the like.
[0094] The network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170) or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas that can be used to employ technologies such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. The antennas of the network entity 105 or UE 115 may be located in one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels, which may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly, such as an antenna tower. In some examples, antennas or antenna arrays associated with the network entity 105 may be located at different geographical locations. The network entity 105 may have an antenna array having a collection of multiple rows and columns of antenna ports that the network entity 105 can use to support beamforming for communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support RF beamforming for signals sent via the antenna ports.
[0095] The network entity 105 or UE 115 may use MIMO communication to utilize multipath signal propagation and improve spectral efficiency by sending or receiving multiple signals via different spatial layers. Such a technology may be referred to as spatial multiplexing. The multiple signals may be sent, for example, by a transmitting device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Similarly, the multiple signals may be received by a receiving device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Each of the multiple signals may be referred to as a separate spatial stream and may carry information associated with the same data stream (e.g., the same codeword) or different data streams (e.g., different codewords). Different spatial layers may be associated with different antenna ports for channel measurement and reporting. MIMO technology includes single-user MIMO (SU-MIMO) and multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO), in which multiple spatial layers are sent to the same receiving device and in which multiple spatial layers are sent to multiple devices.
[0096] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a network entity 105, a UE 115) to shape or direct an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals conveyed via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating in a particular direction relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals conveyed via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each of these antenna elements may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular direction (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device or relative to some other direction).
[0097] The network entity 105 or UE 115 may use beam scanning techniques as part of a beamforming operation. For example, the network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170) may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays (e.g., antenna panels) to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with UE 115. Some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be sent multiple times by the network entity 105 along different directions. For example, the network entity 105 may send signals according to different sets of beamforming weights associated with different transmission directions. Transmissions along different beam directions may be used to identify (e.g., by a transmitting device (such as network entity 105), or by a receiving device (such as UE 115)) beam directions for later transmission or reception by the network entity 105.
[0098] Some signals, such as data signals associated with a particular receiving device, may be sent by a transmitting device (e.g., transmitting network entity 105, transmitting UE 115) along a single beam direction (e.g., a direction associated with a receiving device (such as receiving network entity 105 or receiving UE 115)). In some examples, the beam direction associated with the transmission along the single beam direction may be determined based on signals sent along one or more beam directions. For example, UE 115 may receive one or more of the signals sent by network entity 105 along different directions, and may report to network entity 105 an indication of the signal received by UE 115 with the highest signal quality or other acceptable signal quality.
[0099] In some examples, transmission by a device (e.g., by network entity 105 or UE 115) may be performed using multiple beam directions, and the device may use a combination of digital precoding or beamforming to generate a combined beam for transmission (e.g., from network entity 105 to UE 115). UE 115 may report feedback indicating precoding weights for one or more beam directions, and the feedback may correspond to a configured set of beams across a system bandwidth or one or more subbands. Network entity 105 may send reference signals (e.g., cell-specific reference signals (CRS), channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS)), which may or may not be precoded. UE 115 may provide feedback for beam selection, which may be a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) or codebook-based feedback (e.g., multi-panel codebook, linear combination codebook, port selection codebook). Although these techniques are described with reference to signals sent along one or more directions by a network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170), UE 115 may use similar techniques to send signals multiple times along different directions (e.g., to identify a beam direction for subsequent transmission or reception by UE 115), or to send signals along a single direction (e.g., to send data to a receiving device).
[0100] A receiving device (e.g., UE 115) may perform receiving operations according to multiple receiving configurations (e.g., directional listening) when receiving various signals (such as synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) from a receiving device (e.g., network entity 105). For example, the receiving device may perform reception according to multiple receiving directions by: receiving via different antenna subarrays, processing the received signals according to different antenna subarrays, receiving according to different receiving beamforming weight sets (e.g., different directional listening weight sets) applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, or processing the received signals according to different receiving beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, any of which may be referred to as "listening" according to different receiving configurations or receiving directions. In some examples, the receiving device may use a single receiving configuration to receive along a single beam direction (e.g., when receiving a data signal). A single receive configuration may be aligned along a beam direction determined based on listening according to different receive configuration directions (e.g., a beam direction determined to have the highest signal strength, highest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), or other acceptable signal quality based on listening according to multiple beam directions).
[0101] The wireless communication system 100 can be a packet-based network that operates according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, the communication at the bearer or PDCP layer can be IP-based. The RLC layer can perform packet segmentation and reorganization to communicate through logical channels. The MAC layer can perform priority processing and multiplexing of logical channels into transport channels. The MAC layer can also use error detection technology, error correction technology, or both to support retransmission at the MAC layer to improve link efficiency. In the control plane, the RRC protocol layer can provide the establishment, configuration, and maintenance of the RRC connection that supports the radio bearer of user plane data between the UE 115 and the network entity 105 or the core network 130. At the PHY layer, the transport channel can be mapped to the physical channel.
[0102] UE 115 and network entity 105 may support retransmission of data to increase the likelihood of data being successfully received. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback is a technique for increasing the likelihood of correctly receiving data through a communication link (e.g., communication link 125, D2D communication link 135). HARQ may include a combination of error detection (e.g., using a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). HARQ can improve throughput at the MAC layer under poor radio conditions (e.g., low signal-to-noise ratio conditions). In some examples, a device may support simultaneous slot HARQ feedback, wherein the device may provide HARQ feedback in a specific time slot for data received in a previous symbol in the time slot. In some other examples, the device may provide HARQ feedback in a subsequent time slot or according to some other time interval.
[0103] The wireless communication system 100 may support a relatively flexible time slot structure (e.g., an NR time slot structure). For example, for URLLC, micro time slots may be allowed, and relatively short transmission bursts within a time slot (e.g., a conventional eMBB time slot) may start at any symbol position. Such flexibility may provide a variance in interference experienced at different UEs 115. In some aspects, when the scheduling granularity is reduced, the interference variation may increase (e.g., the interference variation using the scheduling granularity of a single time slot may be less than the variation in the scheduling granularity using a micro time slot including four symbols). In some aspects, unscheduled uplink transmissions that are not granted, relatively adaptive reference signal patterns, or both may be allowed, which may also affect the variability of interference across devices in the wireless communication system 100. For example, an adaptive mode for transmitting and receiving reference signals such as demodulation reference signals (DMRS) and CSI-RS may depend on the number of antenna ports at the transmitting device, the number of antenna ports at the receiving device, delay tolerance, Doppler spread, or any combination thereof.
[0104] In some aspects, the interference variability across devices may be caused by one or more other factors, which may be referred to as interference parameters, such as the location of the device within the cell (e.g., cell edge or cell center device), beam-based transmissions between devices in the wireless communication system 100, traffic type, use case, number of active UEs 115, subcarrier spacing (SCS) of neighboring network entities 105, load or resource utilization, number of active beams (transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state), scheduling scheme, or any combination thereof. For example, interference may fluctuate with beam changes, beam refinement, etc. Additionally or alternatively, the interference power observed at a cell edge UE 115 may be different from the interference power observed at a cell center UE 115. Therefore, changes in one or more parameters of a device may change the behavior of the interference observed at the device, and the change in interference behavior may increase as the number of interference parameters changed increases. Due to interference variance, the base distribution of interference may vary between devices in the wireless communication system 100. In such cases, it may be difficult to model the interference observed by multiple UEs 115 in the wireless communication system 100 using a single model (eg, a well-parameterized model).
[0105] Each UE 115 may send a corresponding report to report the interference experienced by the UE 115. The UE 115 may measure the interference via one or more CSI-RS or other reference signals sent through the interference measurement resource. In some cases, the report may be a CSF report including one or more channel metrics, such as a long-range interference (RI) metric, a channel quality indicator (CQI) metric, a PMI, one or more other channel quality or interference metrics, or any combination thereof. The metric reported via the CSF report may be a combined metric that may take into account the interference level and channel estimation experienced by the UE 115.
[0106] However, in some cases, the combined metric may not provide the network entity 105-a with sufficient information about the actual distribution of interference at the UE 115. For example, in some cases, the combined metric may report the mean and variance of the distribution (e.g., Gaussian distribution) of the interference at the UE 115, which may not be sufficient to accurately represent the interference. If the network entity 105 receives sufficient information to model the actual distribution of interference at the UE 115, the network entity 105 may utilize the interference distribution to make improved scheduling decisions (e.g., via a machine learning-based scheduler), design reference signals for demodulation, or both, which may improve reliability and throughput of communications, among other advantages.
[0107] The technology, system and equipment described herein provide that UE 115 or some other wireless devices report interference as a mixed distribution model, which can improve the efficiency and reliability of interference reporting. For example, UE 115 can receive a reference signal via one or more interference measurement resources. UE 115 can obtain interference measurements of wireless communication channels based on reference signals. UE 115 can estimate the distribution of interference observed by UE 115 based on interference measurements. As described herein, the distribution can be a mixed distribution including one or more components. UE 115 can send an interference report to network entity 105, which indicates a corresponding set of one or more distribution parameters of each probability distribution of the mixed distribution, wherein the probability distribution can correspond to the components of the mixed distribution. Each set of distribution parameters may include a mean, a covariance matrix, a mixed probability (e.g., a weight), a scale, a shape or any combination thereof associated with the corresponding probability distribution. Network entity 105 can schedule wireless communication with UE 115 based on interference reports and mixed distributions.
[0108] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 supporting interference reporting based on hybrid distribution according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 200 may be implemented as shown in FIG. Figure 1 Various aspects of the wireless communication system 100 described above may be implemented by various aspects of the wireless communication system. For example, the wireless communication system 200 may include a network entity 105-a and a UE 115-a, which may be represented as shown in FIG. Figure 1 2 and 3. The example of the network entity 105 and the UE 115 is shown. The network entity 105-a may be within the geographic coverage area 110-a and communicate with the UE 115-a via a downlink communication link 210 and an uplink communication link 215. In some aspects, the UE 115-a may send an interference report 230 indicating a distribution parameter representing a mixed distribution of interference at the UE 115-a.
[0109] In this example, UE 115-a may support interference reporting as a hybrid distribution. For example, UE 115-a may be able to generate a hybrid distribution that represents or provides a model of interference at UE 115-a, and report an indication of the hybrid distribution to network entity 105-a. In some aspects, UE 115-a may send a capability message 225 to network entity 105-a to indicate the hybrid distribution reporting capability of UE 115-a. Additionally or alternatively, network entity 105-a may send a control message indicating a hybrid distribution reporting configuration 240 of UE 115-a. UE 115-a may send an interference report 230 indicating one or more distribution parameters 235 associated with one or more components of a hybrid distribution representing interference at UE 115-a based on capability message 225, hybrid distribution reporting configuration 240, or both.
[0110] UE 115-a may determine (e.g., calculate, estimate, or predict) a hybrid distribution based on one or more interference measurements. The network entity 105-a may send a reference signal or other signaling to UE 115-a via one or more interference measurement resources 220 in the downlink communication link 210. The interference measurement resources 220 may be CSI-RS resources, channel state information interference measurement (CSI-IM) resources, some other type of interference measurement resources, or any combination thereof. UE 115-a may measure the interference measurement resources 220 to obtain interference measurements. The interference measurement may represent one or more metrics associated with the interference experienced by UE 115-a in time, frequency, and / or space. For example, the interference measurement may include measurements of the interference measurement resources 220 across one or more time slots or symbols, across one or more frequency bands, across one or more different antenna elements 245 of the antenna array 250 at UE 115-a, or any combination thereof.
[0111] UE 115-a can model the interference measurement obtained by UE 115-a as a mixture of probability distributions, which can be referred to as a mixed distribution. The probability distribution can represent a component (e.g., a Gaussian component) of the mixed distribution. The type of probability distribution can be based on the type of base distribution of the mixed distribution. The base distribution can be, for example, a Gaussian distribution, an inverse Gaussian distribution, an inverse Weibull distribution, or any combination thereof. In some aspects, UE 115-a can indicate one or more types of base distributions supported by UE 115-a via a capability message 225. Additionally or alternatively, the network entity 105-a can indicate one or more types of base distributions via a mixed distribution report configuration 240. The network entity 105-a can determine the type of base distribution to reduce overhead based on prior knowledge of interference patterns, based on the location of UE 115-a in a cell (e.g., whether UE 115-a is a cell edge UE 115 or a cell center UE 115), based on the bandwidth available for interference reporting in the network, or any combination thereof.
[0112] In some aspects, the UE 115-a may send a message to the network entity 105-a to recommend switching the base distribution for reporting. For example, the UE 115-a may indicate a different type of base distribution than the type previously indicated. The UE 115-a may dynamically switch the type of base distribution based on the message. The type of each probability distribution in the hybrid distribution may be based on at least one of the base types indicated via the capability message 225, the hybrid distribution report configuration 240, or both.
[0113] In some aspects, the hybrid distribution may model interference previously experienced by UE 115-a. For example, UE 115-a may estimate or calculate the hybrid distribution based on a distribution of previously obtained interference measurements. Additionally or alternatively, the hybrid distribution may predict interference that UE 115-a may experience in one or more future time or frequency resources. For example, UE 115-a may utilize a machine learning algorithm or some other type of prediction algorithm to predict interference on future time and frequency resources. The predicted interference may be based on one or more previously obtained interference measurements, one or more other metrics associated with communications at UE 115-a, or both.
[0114] UE 115-a may send an interference report 230 to network entity 105-a to indicate the interference experienced by UE 115-a based on a hybrid distribution, to indicate a prediction of future interference at UE 115-a, or both. For example, UE 115-a may indicate one or more sets of distribution parameters 235 via interference report 230. Each set of distribution parameters 235 may be associated with a corresponding probability distribution or may be used to indicate or model a corresponding probability distribution, and each probability distribution may represent a component of a hybrid distribution. Therefore, the distribution parameters 235 indicated via interference report 230 may be used to model the interference experienced by UE 115-a in the form of a hybrid distribution. Interference report 230 may indicate parameters for modeling interference previously experienced by UE 115-a, for modeling predicted interference, or for both. If UE 115-a reports distribution parameters associated with a hybrid model predicting interference to future resources, the interference report may be referred to as a predicted interference distribution report.
[0115] The set of distribution parameters 235 for a given probability distribution may include, for example, the mean of the probability distribution, a variance or covariance matrix associated with the probability distribution, a mixing probability to be applied to the probability distribution, the shape of the probability distribution, the scale of the probability distribution, or any combination thereof. The type of distribution parameters 235 in each set may be based on the type of the corresponding probability distribution. In some aspects, if the UE 115-a reports a multi-dimensional mixed distribution, the UE 115-a may indicate a covariance matrix, an autocorrelation function, or both associated with one or more components of the mixed distribution across multiple dimensions.
[0116] The autocorrelation function, the covariance matrix, or both may indicate a correlation between interference measurements across space, time, or frequency. For example, there may be a correlation between the interference experienced at the first antenna element 245 of the antenna array 250 at the UE 115-a and the interference experienced at the second antenna element 245 of the antenna array 250 at the UE 115-a. The antenna element 245 may represent an example of a physical antenna or antenna port. The UE 115-a may estimate the correlation between the antenna elements 245, between the frequency sub-bands, or both over a period of time. The UE 115-a may indicate the correlation in the interference report 230 via the covariance matrix, the autocorrelation function, or both. By reporting the estimated correlation between the antenna elements 245, between the frequency bands, or both, the UE 115-a may send a distribution parameter 235 associated with a single antenna element 245 or a single mixed distribution of the frequency band, and the network entity 105-a may determine the interference at one or more other antenna elements 245 or frequency bands based on the correlation information. Examples of mixture distributions and corresponding distribution parameters 235 are described in further detail elsewhere herein, including with reference to Figure 3A and Figure 3B .
[0117] UE 115-a can indicate the number of sets of distribution parameters 235 corresponding to the number of components of the mixed distribution via interference report 230. Assuming that the number of components in the mixed distribution is unlimited, the mixed distribution can theoretically model any unbounded distribution. However, in practice, most interference distributions can be represented using a set of one or more components. As the number of components in the mixed distribution increases, the granularity of the interference report can increase and the accuracy of the mixed distribution can increase. For example, a mixed distribution including a relatively large number of components can model the interference at UE115-a with relatively high accuracy (e.g., precision). The increase in the number of components may correspond to an increased number of distribution parameters 235 that can be indicated via a given interference report 230, which may increase overhead and complexity. Therefore, it may be beneficial to balance the granularity and accuracy of interference reports to improve throughput.
[0118] In some aspects, the number of components in the hybrid distribution may be based on the hybrid distribution reporting capability of the UE 115-a. For example, the UE 115-a may support up to a maximum number of components within a single hybrid distribution. The UE 115-a may indicate the maximum number of components via the capability message 225. Additionally or alternatively, the number of components in the hybrid distribution may be based on the hybrid distribution reporting configuration 240. For example, the network entity 105-a may indicate the maximum number of components to the UE 115-a via the hybrid distribution reporting configuration 240. The network entity 105-a may determine the maximum number of components (e.g., to reduce reporting overhead) based on the location of the UE 115-a in the geographic coverage area 110-a or one or more other parameters associated with the UE 115-a. The maximum number of components may be configured to balance the accuracy of the reporting overhead and the corresponding interference distribution. The first number of the set of the corresponding first number of distribution parameters 235 of the components included in the interference report 230 may be the same as or less than the maximum number of components indicated via the capability message 225, the hybrid distribution reporting configuration 240, or both.
[0119] The network entity 105-a may receive the interference report 230 and determine a mixing distribution (e.g., an approximation of the mixing distribution) based on the distribution parameters. The granularity of the mixing distribution determined by the network entity 105-a may be based on the number of components whose distribution parameters are indicated via the interference report 230. The mixing distribution may represent the interference experienced by the UE 115-a (e.g., the actual interference compared to the combined metric).
[0120] The network entity 105-a may utilize the hybrid distribution to make scheduling decisions (e.g., through a machine learning-based scheduler) or design reference signals for demodulation. For example, the hybrid distribution may indicate the time, frequency, or number of resources on which the UE 115-a may experience relatively high interference. Based on the relatively high interference, the network entity 105-a may suppress scheduling transmissions to and from the UE 115-a at the identified time or within the identified frequency or resource. In some aspects, the network entity 105-a may use a machine learning algorithm to predict time and frequency resources on which interference may be relatively high based on the hybrid distribution. The network entity 105-a may schedule communications to and from the UE 115-a in resources associated with interference below a threshold based on the hybrid distribution, which may improve the throughput and reliability of communications.
[0121] Additionally or alternatively, the network entity 105-a may increase the density of reference signals sent via the interference measurement resources 220 based on the hybrid distribution, which may provide for the UE 115-a to obtain more interference measurements for reducing or mitigating the effects of interference. The network entity 105-a may determine a density of reference signals that may balance the throughput of data and other communications with the accuracy of interference measurements made by the UE 115-a.
[0122] The wireless communication system 200 can thus support interference reporting as a hybrid distribution, which can improve the throughput and reliability of communications. Figure 3A and Figure 3B Illustrated and described in more detail.
[0123] Figure 3A and Figure 3B An example of interference distribution 300 supporting interference reporting based on a hybrid distribution according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The interference distribution 300 may be implemented with reference to Figure 1 and Figure 2 For example, interference profile 300 may represent an example of a hybrid profile generated by UE 115 and reported to network entity 105, which may represent an example of a hybrid profile as described in reference to FIG. Figure 1 and Figure 2 An example of a corresponding device as described. In this example, UE 115 can obtain interference measurements over a relatively long period of time (e.g., a threshold number of seconds, time slots, or symbols). UE 115-a can estimate a mixed distribution representing interference at UE 115-a based on the interference measurements.
[0124] Figure 3AAn example of a first interference distribution 300-a is illustrated. The first interference distribution 300-a illustrates the distribution of the number of samples of interference power measurements in decibels per minute (dBm). The Y-axis of the interference distribution 300-a may represent the count or number of samples. The X-axis of the interference distribution 300-a may represent the interference power level. The interference distribution 300-a may thus represent how many samples of each interference power level the UE 115 measures within a certain time period. For example, within the time period represented by the interference distribution 300-a, the UE 115 may measure approximately 700 interference samples with a power level of approximately -80.0 dBm (e.g., within a power level range of approximately -80.0 dBm). In some aspects, the number of samples represented by the count may correspond to the number of measurements of the corresponding time slot, symbol, or interference measurement resource previously measured by the UE 115 within the time period.
[0125] In some other aspects, such as reference Figure 2 As described, UE 115 may predict interference distribution 300 on future resources (e.g., using an artificial intelligence (AI)-based approach). For example, UE 115 may predict, based on a machine learning algorithm or some other prediction technique, that UE 115 will experience interference in a subsequent time period based on the probability modeled by interference distribution 300. Figure 3A In the example of , if interference profile 300-a is used to predict interference, UE 115 may predict that the number of interference samples having a power level of approximately -65.0 dBm will be higher than 3500 samples. In other words, UE 115 may predict that more than 3500 time slots, symbols, or interference measurement resources may include interference having a power level of approximately -65.0 dBm in a subsequent time period.
[0126] Figure 3B An example of a second interference distribution 300-b is illustrated. The interference distribution 300-b may represent a mixed distribution 310 (e.g., a fitted function or curve) generated by the UE 115 based on the interference measurements illustrated in the first interference distribution 300-a. For example, the UE 115 may Figure 3A 300 - b ) to fit the observed interference samples to the curve of the estimated interference distribution illustrated in FIG. In some aspects, the UE 115 may fit the interference samples to the mixture distribution 310 based on an expectation maximization (EM) algorithm or some other type of algorithm that provides for the UE 115 to estimate one or more distribution parameters 315 for each component of the mixture distribution 310. That is, the second interference distribution 300 - b may be a fitted mixture distribution 310 (e.g., a probability distribution) using three components 305.
[0127] exist Figure 3B In the example of , each of the components 305 can be a Gaussian component. That is, the type of the base distribution of the mixed distribution 310 can be Gaussian. Figure 3B A Gaussian distribution is illustrated in , but it should be understood that any other type of interference distribution 300 may be used. For example, UE 115 may generate mixture distribution 310 based on a Gaussian type, an inverse Gaussian type, an inverse Weibull type, some other type of interference distribution 300, or any combination thereof.
[0128] The mixture distribution generated by the UE 115 may be composed of a number of components 305, and each component may be identified by k∈{1, ..., K}, where K may be the number of components 305. A Gaussian mixture distribution may represent any unbounded distribution. The number of components 305 in the mixture distribution 310 may be the same as or less than the maximum number of components 305 indicated via the mixture distribution capability of the UE 115, the mixture distribution reporting configuration, or both, as described in reference to Figure 2 In Figure 3B In the example of , there may be three components 305 (eg, L=3) in the mixture distribution 310. The interference distribution (p(X)) may then be given by a weighted sum of the components 305, such as
[0129] Each component 305 may include or be modeled according to one or more distribution parameters 315, which may represent a reference Figure 2 Examples of distribution parameters 235 described. For example, a set of distribution parameters 315-a may represent characteristics of component 305-a, a set of distribution parameters 315-b may represent characteristics of component 305-b, and a set of distribution parameters 315-c may represent characteristics of component 305-c. If the type of the base distribution is an inverse Gaussian distribution, the distribution parameters 315 may include a mean, a shape parameter (e.g., the shape of the corresponding inverse Gaussian probability distribution), or both. If the type of the base distribution is an inverse Weibull, the distribution parameters 315 may include a shape parameter, a scale parameter, or both. In some aspects, an inverse Gaussian distribution, an inverse Weibull distribution, or both may more efficiently and accurately represent a high-tail distribution than a Gaussian distribution.
[0130] If the basis distribution is of type Gaussian, such as Figure 3B As illustrated, each Gaussian component 305 may include or be modeled according to one or more of the following: mean (μ k ), covariance matrix (∑ k ), variance (σ k ) and the mixing probability (π k). The mean of each component 305 may be the median or midpoint of the component 305. For example, the mean of component 305-a may be approximately -77.4 dBm, as this may be the median or middle interference power level of the range of interference power levels represented by component 305-a. The mean of component 305-b may be approximately -70.2, and the mean of component 305-c may be approximately -64.5. The variance of component 305 may indicate how wide (e.g., the range of samples over time) the component 305 is, such as the range of interference power levels over which the component 305 extends.
[0131] Each component 305 of the Gaussian distribution may be assigned a respective mixing probability. The mixing probability may indicate a weight to be applied to the respective component 305 relative to the other components 305 in the mixture distribution 310. For example, the mixture distribution 310 may be a weighted sum of the components 305, and the components 305 may be weighted based on the mixing probability. Each of the mixing probabilities may sum to one (e.g., ).exist Figure 3B In the example of , component 305 - a may be assigned a greater weight than components 305 - b and 305 - c. For example, the mixing probability of component 305 - a may be 0.38. The mixing probabilities of components 305 - b and 305 - c may be 0.32 and 0.30, respectively.
[0132] In some aspects, the mixing probability may be assigned based on the variance of the component 305, the size or range of the component, or both. For example, if the fourth component 305 is included in the mixed distribution 310 to represent the interference distribution between -68.0dBm and -66.0dBm, the fourth component may be relatively small (e.g., may include relatively few counts), and the mixing probability assigned to the fourth component may be correspondingly less than the mixing probability assigned to other components. In some aspects, the mixing probability may be based on the mixed distribution reporting capability, the mixed distribution reporting configuration, or both of the UE 115. For example, one or both of the mixed distribution reporting capability and the mixed distribution reporting configuration may indicate the minimum weight of the component 305 of the mixed distribution 310. In such cases, each set of distribution parameters 315 for each component 305 may include a corresponding weight equal to or greater than the minimum weight.
[0133] exist Figure 3B, a mixed distribution 310 across a single dimension is illustrated. For example, the mixed distribution 310 represents the distribution of interference measurement values over time. The mixed distribution 310 may be applicable to or associated with interference measurements at a single antenna element (e.g., a physical antenna or antenna port) and a single frequency band (e.g., a subcarrier) of the UE 115. In this example, the distribution parameters 315 of each component may include a variance matrix, which may represent the range or width of the component 305 over time (e.g., the correlation between time samples). However, it should be understood that the mixed distribution 310 may be generated across multiple dimensions (such as time, frequency, space, or any combination thereof). For example, the mixed distribution 310 may represent the distribution of interference measurement values across time, frequency, and antenna elements. If the mixed distribution 310 is multidimensional, the distribution parameters 315 of each component 305 may include a covariance matrix, an autocorrelation function, or both.
[0134] The covariance matrix for a given component 305 may include correlation information associated with the component 305 in one or more dimensions. For example, entries in the covariance matrix may indicate correlations between interferences across time, frequency, space (e.g., antenna elements), or any combination thereof. The correlation information included in the covariance matrix is further described in detail elsewhere herein, including with reference to Figure 4 .
[0135] In some aspects, the interference at the UE 115 may vary randomly over time, and the variance parameters, entries in the covariance matrix, or both may indicate the correlation between samples over time. In some other aspects, the interference observed at the UE 115 may vary periodically over time, such that the UE 115 may determine the correlation (e.g., τ) across time based on the periodicity. For example, interference at a first time t may be associated with (e.g., relatively similar to) interference at a second time t+τ. If the mean function and correlation function of the interference distribution change due to an offset over time or frequency, the distribution may be referred to as a generalized stationary random process.
[0136] If the interference measurement at UE 115 is in the form of a generalized stationary process in time and frequency, UE 115 can determine the association based on the time period τ. In such a case, UE 115 can report the autocorrelation function based on the time period and variance, and UE 115 can refrain from reporting the covariance matrix. The autocorrelation function can be given by Indicates that x n may be the estimated or predicted interference at time n, and τ may be the time period. The UE 115 may determine the correlation across time and frequency based on the time period rather than the entries in the covariance matrix.
[0137] As described herein, the UE 115 may thus generate a hybrid distribution 310 consisting of a combination of one or more components 305 representing interference at the UE 115 over time, on one or more frequency subbands, on one or more antenna elements of the UE 115, or any combination thereof. The UE 115 may send an interference report indicating a corresponding set of distribution parameters 315 for each component 305 of the hybrid distribution 310. The network entity 105 may use the interference report to schedule wireless communications with the UE 115, which may improve the throughput and reliability of the communications.
[0138] Figure 4 An example of a covariance matrix 400 for supporting interference reporting based on a mixture distribution according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The covariance matrix 400 may be used to implement reference Figure 1 - Aspects of or implemented by the wireless communication systems 100 and 200 or the interference profile 300 described in FIG. 3. For example, the covariance matrix 400 may represent an example of a covariance matrix associated with a probability distribution, such as reference Figure 3B UE 115 may indicate covariance matrix 400 as a distribution parameter in an interference report. UE 115 and network entity 105 may indicate as reference Figure 1 - An example of a corresponding device as described in FIG. 3 .
[0139] The covariance matrix 400 may include one or more entries 405 across one or more dimensions. Each entry 405 may include association information that defines the association of corresponding probability distributions across antennas, time samples, or frequencies. Figure 3B For each component 305 of the mixture distribution 310 illustrated in FIG. 4 , a covariance matrix 400 is estimated. That is, each component of the mixture distribution may be associated with different interference correlation information across one or more dimensions.
[0140] Figure 4 The covariance matrix 400 illustrated in FIG. 4 may be a four-by-four-by-two matrix. However, it should be understood that the covariance matrix 400 may be any size of any number of one or more dimensions. The size of the matrix and the number of dimensions of the matrix may be based on the number of antenna elements of the antenna array at the UE 115 and the number of frequency bands for which the UE 115 reports interference. In this example, the UE 115 may include four antenna elements and may report interference on two frequency bands. A first sub-matrix within the covariance matrix 400 may be associated with a first frequency (subcarrier 1) and a second sub-matrix within the covariance matrix 400 may be associated with a second frequency (subcarrier 2).
[0141] Within each submatrix, the entries on the diagonal of the matrix (e.g., starting with entry 405-a and ending with entry 405-h in the first submatrix) may include the variance of the interference on each antenna element (e.g., variance information in the time domain, as described with reference to FIG. 3). For example, entry 405-a may include the change in interference at the first antenna element (antenna 1) over time, and entry 405-h may include the change in interference at the fourth antenna element (antenna 4) over time. Other entries 405 may include information indicating the interference correlation between two antenna elements over time. For example, entry 405-b may indicate the interference correlation between antenna 1 and the second antenna element (antenna 2). Entry 405-c may indicate the interference correlation between antenna 1 and the third antenna element (antenna 3). Entry 405-d may indicate the interference correlation between antenna 1 and antenna 4. Antenna elements as described herein may represent physical antennas of UE 115, antenna ports of UE 115, or some other component of an antenna array.
[0142] Entries 405 may be symmetric about the diagonal of the submatrix. For example, entry 405-e may be the same as entry 405-b and may indicate an interference correlation between antenna 1 and antenna 2. Entry 405-f may be the same as entry 405-c, and entry 405-g may be the same as entry 405-d. Thus, entries 405 in covariance matrix 400 may provide interference correlation information between each antenna element of UE 115 over time. If the interference on the first antenna element is relatively high when the interference at the second antenna element is relatively high, the correlation information between the antenna elements may indicate a high correlation. If the interference on the first antenna element is relatively low while the interference on the second antenna element is relatively high, the correlation information between the antenna elements may indicate a low correlation.
[0143] Entries 405 may additionally or alternatively indicate association information across frequencies. For example, UE 115 may measure interference on a first subcarrier (subcarrier 1), and UE 115 may determine how much interference is associated with a second subcarrier (subcarrier 2) based on the association information in covariance matrix 400. In such cases, entries 405 across different submatrices within the covariance matrix may indicate association information between subcarrier 1 and subcarrier 2. For example, in addition to variance information associated with antenna 4 over time, entries 405-i in the second submatrix associated with subcarrier 2 may also include association information associated with interference associations between subcarrier 1 and subcarrier 2.
[0144] As reference Figure 3BAs described, if interference can be represented as a generalized stationary random process in time and frequency, UE115 can determine an autocorrelation function representing the interference correlation in one or more dimensions. In other aspects, when generating a mixed distribution representing the interference at UE115, UE 115 can determine a covariance matrix 400 for each component of the mixed distribution. As described herein, UE 115 can send an indication of the covariance matrix 400 for each component via an interference report. Network entity 105 can estimate the interference experienced by UE 115 at different times, frequencies, and antenna elements using the indicated covariance matrix 400 and other distribution parameters indicated via the interference report. Network entity 105 can schedule wireless communications with UE 115 based on the estimated interference, which can improve communication reliability.
[0145] Figure 5 An example of a process flow 500 for supporting interference reporting based on a hybrid distribution according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The process flow 500 may be implemented with reference to Figure 1 and Figure 2 Aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and 200 described above may be implemented by the same. For example, the process flow 500 illustrates interference reporting between a UE 115-b and a network entity 105-b, which may represent interference reporting between the UE 115-b and the network entity 105-b as described above. Figure 1-Figure 4 Aspects of the corresponding apparatus described. In some aspects, the UE 115-b may send an interference report indicating a corresponding set of distribution parameters representing one or more components of a mixed distribution of interference at the UE 115-b.
[0146] In the following description of process flow 500, operations between UE 115-b and network entity 105-b may be performed in a different order or at a different time. Some operations may also be excluded from process flow 500, or other operations may be added. Although UE 115-b and network entity 105-b are shown as performing operations of process flow 500, some aspects of some operations may also be performed by one or more other wireless devices.
[0147] The network entity 105-b may send signals via one or more interference measurement resources of a wireless communication channel between the UE 115-b and the network entity 105-b at 505. These signals may include reference signals such as CSI-RS or other types of interference measurement signals.
[0148] At 510, UE 115-b may obtain interference measurements of the wireless communication channel based on measuring signals received via the interference measurement resources. The interference measurements may include interference power measurements or other types of interference measurements.
[0149] At 515, in some aspects, UE 115-b may determine (e.g., estimate, calculate, predict, or generate) a mixed distribution representing interference at UE 115-b based on the interference measurements obtained at 510. The mixed distribution may include or be composed of a set of multiple probability distributions, which may be components of the mixed distribution. The mixed distribution may represent the interference experienced by UE 115-b, the interference predicted at UE 115-b in one or more future time and frequency resources, or both. The mixed distribution may represent the interference experienced by UE 115-b, the interference predicted at UE 115-b in one or more future time and frequency resources, or both. Figure 3B An example of the mixture distribution 310 described above. In some aspects, the UE 115-b can estimate the mixture distribution based on the EM algorithm, as shown in FIG. Figure 3B described.
[0150] At 520, UE 115-b may send an interference report to network entity 105-b. The interference report may indicate a corresponding set of one or more distribution parameters for each probability distribution in a set of multiple probability distributions of a hybrid distribution (e.g., for each component). In some aspects, UE 115-b may support hybrid distribution reporting capabilities, and sending the interference report may be based on the hybrid distribution reporting capabilities. Additionally or alternatively, network entity 105-b may send a control message to UE 115-b indicating a hybrid distribution reporting configuration of UE 115-b, and sending the interference report may be based on the hybrid distribution reporting configuration.
[0151] The distribution parameters in each set may be based on the mixed distribution reporting capability of UE 115-b, the mixed distribution reporting configuration, the type of the base distribution of the mixed distribution, or any combination thereof. If the mixed distribution is of Gaussian type, the distribution parameters of the probability distribution may include the mean, covariance matrix, variance, autocorrelation function, corresponding weights, or any combination thereof associated with the probability distribution. If the mixed distribution is of inverse Gaussian type, the distribution parameters of the probability distribution may include the corresponding mean, corresponding shape, corresponding weights, or any combination thereof associated with the probability distribution. If the mixed distribution is of inverse Weibull type, the distribution parameters of the probability distribution may include the corresponding shape, corresponding scale, corresponding weights, or any combination thereof associated with the probability distribution.
[0152] At 525, the network entity 105-b may send one or more wireless communications to the UE 115-b based on the interference report and the hybrid distribution. In some aspects, the network entity 105-b may schedule wireless communications based on the hybrid distribution, the network entity 105-b may design a type or density of one or more reference signals based on the hybrid distribution, or both.
