[0098] The connection structure CS (e.g., the layers of the connection structure CS) is formed on the planarized surface by making the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the base substrate BS completely cover the orthographic projection of the connection structure CS on the base substrate BS. The connection structure CS can have a substantially flat morphology, avoiding damage to the organic layer OL caused by the protrusion of the connection structure CS.
[0099] Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view of a display substrate in some embodiments according to the present disclosure. Figure 5 Schematic diagram showing the structure of the connection structure according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 4 and Figure 5 In some embodiments, the first connection electrode CE1 extends through the via hole to be connected to the auxiliary electrode AE. Figure 4 In one example depicted in FIG, the via extends through the passivation layer PVX but not through the planarization layer PLN. Figure 4 and Figure 5 As shown, in some embodiments, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the first connecting electrode CE1 on the substrate substrate BS. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the second connecting electrode CE2 on the substrate substrate BS. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the third connecting electrode CE3 on the substrate substrate BS. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the connecting structure CS on the substrate substrate BS.
[0100] In some embodiments, the connection structure CS further includes at least one of the remaining organic layer ROL or the remaining second electrode RE2. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the base substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the remaining organic layer ROL on the base substrate BS, and does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the remaining second electrode RE2 on the base substrate BS.
[0101] By making the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the base substrate BS not overlap with the orthographic projection of the connection structure CS on the base substrate BS, a connection structure CS (e.g., each layer of the connection structure CS) having a relatively small height relative to the base substrate BS is formed. When the substrate is subjected to brushing during the manufacturing process, the edge of the connection structure CS is not easily damaged. The intact edge of the connection structure CS can ensure the separation of the remaining organic layer ROL from the organic layer OL, and the separation of the remaining second electrode RE2 from the second electrode E2.
[0102] Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view of a display substrate in some embodiments according to the present disclosure. Figure 7Schematic diagram showing the structure of the connection structure according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 6 and Figure 7 , the first connection electrode CE1 extends through the via hole to be connected to the auxiliary electrode AE. Figure 6 and Figure 7 In one example depicted in FIG, the via extends through the passivation layer PVX but not through the planarization layer PLN. Figure 6 and Figure 7 As shown, in some embodiments, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS only partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the first connecting electrode CE1 on the substrate substrate BS. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS only partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the second connecting electrode CE2 on the substrate substrate BS. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS only partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the third connecting electrode CE3 on the substrate substrate BS. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the substrate substrate BS only partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the connecting structure CS on the substrate substrate BS.
[0103] In some embodiments, the connection structure CS further includes at least one of the remaining organic layer ROL or the remaining second electrode RE2. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the base substrate BS only partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the remaining organic layer ROL on the base substrate BS, and only partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the remaining second electrode RE2 on the base substrate BS.
[0104] By making the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the base substrate BS only partially overlap with the orthographic projection of the connection structure CS on the base substrate BS, the edge of the connection structure CS can remain substantially intact when the base substrate is brushed during manufacturing, thereby ensuring that the remaining organic layer ROL is separated from the organic layer OL, and the remaining second electrode RE2 is separated from the second electrode E2. At the same time, the connection structure CS can be manufactured without large protrusions that may damage the organic layer OL.
[0105] Figure 8 Schematic diagram showing the structure of a connection structure according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 8 , Figure 2 , Figure 4 and Figure 6 In some embodiments, the second connection electrode CE2 includes an upper surface in contact with the third connection electrode CE3 and a lower surface in contact with the first connection electrode CE1 and opposite to the upper surface. In some embodiments, a cross section along a plane intersecting the first connection electrode CE1, the second connection electrode CE2 and the third connection electrode CE3 and perpendicular to the main surface of the substrate substrate BS (for example, as Figures 2 to 7The cross section shown in any of the figures in the drawings) includes a top edge located in the upper surface and a bottom edge located in the lower surface, and the orthographic projection of the bottom edge on the substrate base plate BS covers the orthographic projection of the top edge on the substrate base plate BS.
[0106] By providing the auxiliary electrode AE, the voltage drop on the extension path of the second electrode E2 when the display substrate is in operation is further reduced. Therefore, the second electrode can be made relatively thin, thereby increasing the transmittance of the display substrate. In the present display substrate, the orthographic projection of the bottom side of the cross section of the second connection electrode CE2 on the base substrate BS covers the orthographic projection of the top side of the cross section of the second connection electrode CE2 on the base substrate BS. In some embodiments, the second connection electrode CE2 has a slope structure located between its upper surface and lower surface, as further described below, and this slope structure helps to achieve a larger contact area between the second electrode E2 and the connection structure CS, thereby reducing the contact resistance between the second electrode E2 and the connection structure CS, thereby further effectively reducing the voltage drop on the extension path of the second electrode E2 during the operation of the display substrate. Therefore, an excessive voltage drop on the second electrode E2 can be avoided, and the transmittance of the display substrate can be further improved by making the second electrode E2 thinner, further enhancing the brightness uniformity of the image displayed by the display substrate.
[0107] As described above, the orthographic projection of the auxiliary electrode AE on the base substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the sub-pixel region SR on the base substrate BS, thereby minimizing the effect of the auxiliary electrode AE on the luminescence of the sub-pixel region SR. The auxiliary electrode AE and the connection structure CS may have various appropriate relative positional relationships. In one example, the orthographic projection of the auxiliary electrode AE on the base substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the connection structure CS on the base substrate BS. In another example, the orthographic projection of the auxiliary electrode AE on the base substrate BS at least partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the connection structure CS on the base substrate BS to increase the aperture ratio of the display substrate. The layer where the auxiliary electrode AE is located (e.g., the signal line layer SL) is located on the side of the organic layer OL close to the base substrate BS to avoid the adverse effect of the auxiliary electrode AE on the light-emitting layer of the organic layer OL.
[0108] In some embodiments, the orthographic projection of the first connection electrode CE1 on the base substrate BS completely covers the orthographic projection of the third connection electrode CE3 on the base substrate BS; the orthographic projection of the second connection electrode CE2 on the base substrate BS does not exceed the orthographic projection of the third connection electrode CE3 on the base substrate BS. In one example, in a cross section along a plane intersecting the first connection electrode CE1, the second connection electrode CE2, and the third connection electrode CE3 and perpendicular to the main surface of the base substrate BS (for example, as Figures 2 to 8In any cross section shown in FIG. 1 , the first connection electrode CE1, the second connection electrode CE2 and the third connection electrode CE3 have an I-shape, which helps to form a stable and effective connection between the second electrode E2 and the connection structure CS.
[0109] In some embodiments, the second connection electrode CE2 includes an upper surface in contact with the third connection electrode CE3, and a lower surface in contact with the first connection electrode CE1 and opposite to the upper surface. In some embodiments, a cross section along a plane intersecting the first connection electrode CE1, the second connection electrode CE2, and the third connection electrode CE3 and perpendicular to the main surface of the substrate substrate BS (for example, as shown in FIG. Figures 2 to 7 The cross section shown in any one of the above) includes a top edge located in the upper surface, a bottom edge located in the lower surface, and a side edge connecting the top edge and the bottom edge. The side edge and the lower surface intersect at an intersection in the lower surface. The angle between the line from any point on the side edge to the intersection and the lower surface is less than or equal to 90 degrees, wherein the opening of the angle faces the second connection electrode CE2. The slope structure of the second connection electrode CE2 with the angle helps to allow the material of the second electrode E2 to diffuse to the side edge of the second connection electrode CE2 during the manufacturing process of the display substrate, thereby facilitating a larger contact area between the second electrode E2 and the second connection electrode CE2.
[0110] Fig. 9A is a cross-sectional view of a connection structure according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Fig. 9A The second connection electrode CE2 has a cross section perpendicular to its upper and lower surfaces, and the height of the cross section along the vertical direction is H. The cross section of the second connection electrode CE2 includes a top edge located in the upper surface, a bottom edge located in the lower surface, and a side edge connecting the top edge to the bottom edge. The side edge and the bottom edge intersect to form an acute angle α. Fig. 9A The acute angle α shown is an example of the above-mentioned angle.
[0111] The side of the second connection electrode CE2 may have any suitable shape. In one example, the side may be substantially flat. In another example, the side may be uneven or irregular. Fig. 9B is a cross-sectional view of a connection structure according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Fig. 9B , the side is not flat. The side intersects the lower surface at an acute angle β.
[0112] The inventors of the present disclosure have found through extensive experiments that the degree of the angle affects the effective connection between the second electrode E2 and the second connection electrode CE2. A relatively small angle may cause a protrusion to appear on the second connection electrode CE2, thereby preventing or reducing the effective connection between the second electrode E2 and the second connection electrode CE2. The inventors of the present disclosure have found through a large number of experiments that an angle within a range between 45 degrees and 70 degrees is optimal for avoiding a protrusion on the second connection electrode CE2 and forming an effective connection between the second electrode E2 and the second connection electrode CE2.
[0113] The cross section of the second connection electrode CE2 may have various appropriate shapes. Fig. 9A In one example shown, the cross section of the second connection electrode CE2 has a trapezoidal shape.
[0114] Reference Figure 2 , Figure 4 and Figure 6 In some embodiments, the display substrate further includes a pixel defining layer PDL surrounding the sub-pixel region SR. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the planarization layer PLN on the base substrate BS overlaps at least partially with the orthographic projection of the pixel defining layer PDL on the base substrate BS (for example, overlapping by at least 30%, at least 40%, at least 50%, at least 60%, at least 70%, at least 80%, at least 90%, at least 95% or at least 99%). Optionally, the orthographic projection of the pixel defining layer PDL on the base substrate BS does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the second connection electrode CE2 on the base substrate BS, and does not overlap with the orthographic projection of the third connection electrode CE3 on the base substrate BS.
[0115] In some embodiments, the second electrode E2 extends from the sub-pixel region SR across the pixel defining layer PDL to the inter-sub-pixel region ISR to directly contact at least one of the first connection electrode CE1 , the second connection electrode CE2 , or the third connection electrode CE3 .
[0116] In some embodiments, at least one sub-layer of the organic layer OL extends from the sub-pixel region SR, across the pixel defining layer PDL, to the inter-sub-pixel region ISR.
[0117] In some embodiments, the display substrate includes a stacked structure, which includes a pixel defining layer PDL; a portion of at least one sublayer of the organic layer OL, which is located on the pixel defining layer PDL and in direct contact with the pixel defining layer PDL; and a portion of the second electrode E2, which is located on a side of a portion of at least one sublayer of the organic layer OL away from the pixel defining layer PDL and in direct contact with a portion of at least one sublayer of the organic layer OL. Optionally, the orthographic projection of the second electrode E2 on the base substrate BS at least partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the pixel defining layer PDL on the base substrate BS (for example, the orthographic projection of the second electrode E2 on the base substrate BS completely covers the orthographic projection of the pixel defining layer PDL on the base substrate BS). Optionally, the orthographic projection of at least one sublayer of the organic layer OL on the base substrate BS at least partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the pixel defining layer PDL on the base substrate BS (for example, the orthographic projection of at least one sublayer of the organic layer OL on the base substrate BS completely covers the orthographic projection of the pixel defining layer PDL on the base substrate BS).
[0118] In some embodiments, reference Figure 8 The connection structure CS has an open groove GV formed between the first connection electrode CE1, the second connection electrode CE2 and the third connection electrode CE3. The second electrode E2 at least partially extends into the open groove GV to directly contact at least one of the first connection electrode CE1, the second connection electrode CE2 or the third connection electrode CE3.
[0119] In some embodiments, the orthographic projection of the third connection electrode CE3 on the substrate substrate BS covers the orthographic projection of the open groove GV on the substrate substrate BS, and at least partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the second connection electrode CE2 on the substrate substrate BS (for example, the orthographic projection of the third connection electrode CE3 on the substrate substrate BS completely covers the orthographic projection of the second connection electrode CE2 on the substrate substrate BS). Optionally, the orthographic projection of the first connection electrode CE1 on the substrate substrate BS covers the orthographic projection of the open groove GV on the substrate substrate BS, and at least partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the second connection electrode CE2 on the substrate substrate BS (for example, the orthographic projection of the first connection electrode CE1 on the substrate substrate BS completely covers the orthographic projection of the second connection electrode CE2 on the substrate substrate BS). Optionally, the orthographic projection of the third connection electrode CE3 on the substrate substrate BS partially overlaps with the orthographic projection of the second electrode E2 on the substrate substrate BS.
[0120] In some embodiments, reference Figure 2 , Figure 4 , Figure 6 and Figure 8The open groove GV has an opening side opened toward the pixel defining layer PDL. The second electrode E2 extends through the opening side into the open groove GV to directly contact at least one of the first connection electrode CE1, the second connection electrode CE2 or the third connection electrode CE3.
[0121] In some embodiments, the open groove has an upper wall, a lower wall and a side wall. The upper wall of the open groove GV is formed by a portion of the third connection electrode CE3 that extends toward the pixel defining layer PDL and is not in direct contact with the second connection electrode CE2. The lower wall is formed by a portion of the first connection electrode CE1 that extends toward the pixel defining layer PDL and is not in direct contact with the second connection electrode CE2. The side wall is formed by a portion of the second connection electrode CE2. The upper wall extends a first length in a horizontal direction parallel to the main surface of the substrate substrate BS, and the lower wall extends a second length in a horizontal direction parallel to the main surface of the substrate substrate BS. Optionally, the second length is greater than the first length.
[0122] Reference Fig. 9A and Fig. 9B The first length is represented as D1 and the second length is represented as D2. The presence of the open groove GV in the connection structure helps the material of the second electrode E2 to extend into the open groove GV and directly contact the third connection electrode CE3 during the manufacture of the display substrate, thereby further reducing the voltage drop on the second electrode E2 during the operation of the display substrate.
[0123] In some embodiments, the second length D2 is 4 to 10 times the first length D1. In one example, the second length D2 is about 5 μm, while the first length D1 is between 0.5 μm and 1.2 μm. The inventors of the present disclosure have found that these ranges ensure that the second electrode E2 can extend within the open groove GV to directly contact at least one of the lower wall and the side wall of the open groove GV, thereby increasing the contact area between the second electrode E2 and the first connection electrode CE1 or between the second electrode E2 and the second connection electrode CE2, thereby reducing the voltage drop on the extension path of the second electrode E2 during operation of the display substrate.
[0124] In some embodiments, the third connection electrode CE3 extends a third length D3 along a horizontal direction parallel to a surface direction of the substrate BS. Optionally, the third length D3 is in a range between 12 μm and 14 μm.
[0125] In some embodiments, the first length D1 is 1 to 2 times the height of the second connection electrode CE2 in the second direction, where the second direction is a vertical direction perpendicular to the horizontal direction. This can help in the process of manufacturing the display substrate by preventing too much material of the light emitting layer EL from entering the open groove GV. The height of the second connection electrode CE2 in the second direction is Fig. 9A and Fig. 9BIn some embodiments, the height H is between 0.5 μm and 0.6 μm, and the height d2 of the organic layer OL in the second direction is approximately like Fig. 9A and Fig. 9B As shown, at least a portion of the organic layer OL located in the sub-pixel region may extend beyond the pixel defining layer PDL to extend to the auxiliary electrode connection region. Optionally, a height H of the second connection electrode CE2 in the second direction is 1.5 to 2 times a height d2 of the organic layer OL in the second direction.
