AI Technical Summary
Traditional camera components and electronics cannot achieve the optimal layout for mounting multiple cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanisms, resulting in misalignment between the rotation center and the optical axis center.
The design employs a combination of a fixed plate, a movable substrate, an image sensor, and multiple actuators. The actuators apply driving force to the movable substrate along different axes, causing the image sensor to move relative to the fixed plate, thus ensuring that the rolling center of the image sensor is located at the center of the optical axis.
It achieves an optimal layout of multiple camera components, reduces vertical misalignment, increases the freedom of placement of adjacent camera components, and improves the accuracy and efficiency of OIS control.

Technical Field
[0001] This disclosure relates to camera components and electronic devices. Background Technology
[0002] Smartphones and tablets are widely used in our daily lives. Many electronic devices today are equipped with camera components for capturing images. Some are portable, making them easy to carry. Therefore, users of these devices can easily take photos of objects anytime, anywhere using their camera components.
[0003] Traditionally, when digital cameras are mounted on electronic devices such as smartphones, the long side of the image sensor is usually vertical. On the other hand, the image sensor in traditional digital cameras is horizontal. Traditional digital cameras have actuators and position detection functions in the vertical direction, causing a misalignment between the rotation center and the optical axis.
[0004] This configuration is not optimal for electronic devices such as smartphones. Smartphones consist of multiple cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanisms arranged vertically along the image sensor.

Communication circuit 48 may include an antenna and RF (Radio Frequency) circuitry.
[0042] Next, we will refer to Figures 4 to 7 An example is described focusing on the construction of the camera assembly 30 of the electronic device 10 having the above-described structure.
[0043] Figure 4 This is a cross-sectional view illustrating a schematic construction of a camera assembly of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 5A It focuses on including Figure 4 A top view of the structure of the image sensor in the camera assembly shown. Figure 5B It shows a focus on including Figure 4 The image sensor of the camera assembly shown is illustrated in a cross-sectional view along the first axis, representing an example of its construction.
[0044] like Figure 4 , Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the camera assembly 30 with an optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism includes a lens barrel 1, a mounting plate 5, an image sensor 6, a sliding mechanism 8, a first actuator 71, a second actuator 72, a third actuator 73, a first position detection element 71b, a second position detection element 72b, and a third position detection element 73b.
[0045] It should be noted that, in Figure 4 The structure for enabling the camera assembly 30 to autofocus has been omitted. Furthermore, in... Figure 5A and Figure 5B The text omits elements including... Figure 4 The structure of the lens barrel 1 of the camera assembly 30 shown.
[0046] like Figure 4 As shown, the lens barrel 1 is located above the image sensor 6. The lens barrel 1 includes multiple lenses 1a with an optical axis ZL.
[0047] The mounting plate 5 is fixed to the housing of the camera assembly 30 (i.e., the camera assembly 30 is arranged on...). Figure 1(In the housing of the electronic device 10 shown).
[0048] The movable substrate 4 is disposed above the fixed plate 5 and is movable relative to the fixed plate 5 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis ZL of the lens 1a.
[0049] A sliding mechanism 8 is disposed between the fixed plate 5 and the movable substrate 4. The sliding mechanism 8 is used to allow the movable substrate 4 to slide on the fixed plate 5 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis ZL.
[0050] For example, in Figure 4 In the example shown, the sliding mechanism 8 has a configuration that rolls on a ball, such as a bearing. However, alternatively, the sliding mechanism 8 may have a configuration that slides on a convex surface, such as a sphere or a ribbed arch.
[0051] like Figure 4 , Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the image sensor 6 is arranged on the movable substrate 4 for sensing light including the image of the main body 101 output from the lens 1a of the lens barrel 1.
[0052] In particular, such as Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the image sensor 6 is rectangular in shape, having a first side 61 and a second side 62 parallel to the first axis XL, and a third side 63 and a fourth side 64 parallel to the second axis YL. This rectangular shape is located on the upper surface of the movable substrate 4. The first side 61 and the second side 62 of the image sensor 6 are the shorter sides of the rectangle. The third side 63 and the fourth side 64 of the image sensor 6 are the longer sides of the rectangle.
[0053] like Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the first actuator 71 is positioned along a first axis (X-axis) XL orthogonal to the optical axis ZL of the lens, and is used to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the first axis so that the movable substrate 4 on which the image sensor 6 is disposed moves relative to the fixed plate 5.
[0054] Specifically, the first actuator 71 is arranged adjacent to the third surface 63 of the image sensor 6.
[0055] More specifically, such as Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the first actuator 71 includes a first coil 71a, a first position detection element 71b, and a first magnet 71c. The first coil 71a is arranged on the movable substrate 4. The first magnet 71c is a permanent magnet (e.g., a bipolar magnetized magnet) arranged on the fixed plate 5 facing the first coil 71a. The first coil 71a and the first magnet 71c form a motor (magnetic conversion).
[0056] like Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the second actuator 72 is arranged along the first axis XL to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the first axis, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5.
[0057] More specifically, such as Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the second actuator 72 includes a second coil 72a, a second position detection element 72b, and a second magnet 72c. The second coil 72a is arranged on the movable substrate 4. The second magnet 72c is a permanent magnet (e.g., a bipolar magnetized magnet) arranged on the fixed plate 5 facing the second coil 72a. The second coil 72a and the second magnet 72c form a motor (magnetic conversion).
[0058] Therefore, as Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the image sensor 6 is arranged between the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 on the first axis XL.
[0059] In this embodiment, as Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 are arranged symmetrically around the optical axis ZL (arranged at the same distance from the optical axis ZL).
[0060] As described above, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 are used to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the first axis XL direction, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5.
[0061] Specifically, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 are used to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 so that the movable substrate 4, on which the image sensor 6 is arranged, rolls around the optical axis ZL on the fixed plate.
[0062] like Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the third actuator 73 is arranged along the first axis XL and is used to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the second axis (Y axis) YL, which is perpendicular to the optical axis ZL and the first axis XL, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5.
[0063] Specifically, the third actuator 73 is arranged such that the second actuator 72 is located between the fourth sides 64 of the image sensor 6.
[0064] More specifically, such as Figure 5A and Figure 5BAs shown, the third actuator 73 includes a third coil 73a and a third magnet 73c. The third coil 73a is arranged on the movable substrate 4. The third magnet 73c is a permanent magnet (e.g., a bipolar magnetized magnet) arranged on the fixed plate 5 facing the third coil 73a. The third coil 73a and the third magnet 73c form a motor (magnetic conversion).
[0065] like Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the first position detection element 71b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 adjacent to the first actuator 71, and is used to detect the relative position of the first position detection element 71b with respect to the fixed plate 5.
[0066] Specifically, the first position detection element 71b detects the relative position of the first position detection element 71b with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the second axis YL direction.
[0067] For example, a first position detection element 71b is arranged on a movable substrate 4 at the center of the first coil 71a. The first position detection element 71b is a first Hall element 71b, used to detect the magnetism of the first magnet 71c.
[0068] In this case, the first position detection element 71b detects the relative position with respect to the fixed plate 5 by detecting the magnetism (magnetism of the S pole and N pole) of the first magnet 71c.
[0069] like Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the second position detection element 72b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 adjacent to the second actuator 72, and is used to detect the relative position of the second position detection element 72b with respect to the fixed plate 5.
[0070] Specifically, the second position detection element 72b detects the relative position of the second position detection element 72b with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the second axis YL direction.
[0071] For example, the second position detection element 72b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 at the center of the second coil 72a. The second position detection element 72b is a second Hall element 72b, used to detect the magnetism of the second magnet 72c.
[0072] In this case, the second position detection element 72b detects the relative position with respect to the fixed plate 5 by detecting the magnetism (magnetism of the S pole and N pole) of the second magnet 72c.
[0073] like Figure 5A and Figure 5B As shown, the third position detection element 73b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 adjacent to the third actuator 73, and is used to detect the relative position of the third position detection element 73b with respect to the fixed plate 5.
[0074] Specifically, the third position detection element 73b detects the relative position of the third position detection element 73b relative to the fixed plate 5 in the first axis XL direction.
[0075] For example, the third position detection element 73b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 at the center of the third coil 73a. The third position detection element 73b is a third Hall element 73b used to detect the magnetism of the third magnet 73c.
[0076] In this case, the third position detection element 73b detects the relative position with respect to the fixed plate 5 by detecting the magnetism (magnetism of the S pole and N pole) of the third magnet 73c.
[0077] Furthermore, for example, such as Figure 5A As shown, the first position detection element 71a, the second position detection element 72a, and the third position detection element 73a are arranged at positions along the first axis XL.
[0078] Furthermore, for example, such as Figure 5A and 5B As shown, the first position detection element 71a and the second position detection element 72a are arranged symmetrically around the optical axis ZL (arranged at the same distance from the optical axis ZL).
[0079] For example, the relative position of the image sensor 6 with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the second axis YL direction, or the relative position of the image sensor with respect to the fixed plate 5 when it rolls around the optical axis, is obtained based on the position detected by the first position detection element 71b and the position detected by the second position detection element 72b.
[0080] More specifically, when the polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b in the second axis YL direction is the same as the polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the second axis YL direction, the image sensor 6 shifts in the X-axis XL direction.
[0081] On the other hand, when the polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b in the second axis YL direction is different from the polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the second axis YL direction, the image sensor 6 rolls around the optical axis ZL.
[0082] Furthermore, the relative position of the image sensor 6 with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the first axis XL direction is obtained based on the position detected by the third position detection element 73b.
[0083] By arranging the first to third position detection elements 71b, 72b, and 73b, such as Hall elements (detected using the N-S polar boundary), the roll center of the image sensor 6 is located at the center of the optical axis ZL, and the first position detection element 71b and the second position detection element 72b are located on the first axis XL. Therefore, when roll and interference in the first axis XL direction are reduced, there is no misalignment in the second axis YL direction.
[0084] It should be noted that other camera components (not shown) may be arranged adjacent to camera component 30 in the second axis YL direction.
[0085] This corresponds, for example, to a situation where the first camera assembly 30a and the second camera assembly 30b are arranged side-by-side along the long side of the electronic device 10 via a spacer, such as... Figure 1 As shown.
[0086] As described above, the OIS mechanism, such as the actuator and position sensing element, is located in the horizontal direction (direction XL of the first axis) of the camera assembly, thereby enabling the vertical direction (direction YL of the second axis) of the camera assembly to be shortened.
[0087] For this reason, there is no OIS mechanism such as actuators or position detection elements between adjacent camera components, which increases the placement freedom for other applications.
[0088] Therefore, due to the above-described structure, the camera assembly 30 can achieve an optimal layout for mounting multiple cameras with an OIS mechanism.
[0089] Here, an example of the operation of the camera component 30 having the above-described structure will be described.
[0090] Figure 6 It is focused on Figure 5A A top view of the image sensor and the first to third actuators of the camera assembly shown. Figure 7 It is shown Figure 6 A top view of an example of the image sensor of a camera assembly rolling around the optical axis.
[0091] As described above, the camera assembly 30 has an OIS mechanism.
[0092] That is, the first actuator 71, the second actuator 72 and the third actuator 73 together with the first position detection element 71a, the second position detection element 72a and the third position detection element 73a perform OIS control on the image sensor 6.
[0093] like Figure 6As shown, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the first axis XL direction, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5. In addition, the third actuator 73 applies a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the second axis YL direction, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5.
[0094] In particular, such as Figure 7 As shown, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 so that the movable substrate 4, on which the image sensor 6 is arranged, rolls around the optical axis ZL on the fixed plate.
[0095] As described above, the relative position of the image sensor 6 with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the second axis YL direction, or the relative position of the image sensor with respect to the fixed plate 5 when it rolls around the optical axis, is obtained based on the position detected by the first position detection element 71b and the position detected by the second position detection element 72b.
[0096] More specifically, when the polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b in the second axis YL direction is the same as the polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the second axis YL direction, the image sensor 6 shifts in the X-axis XL direction.
[0097] On the other hand, when the polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b in the second axis YL direction is different from the polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the second axis YL direction, the image sensor 6 rolls around the optical axis ZL.
[0098] Furthermore, the relative position of the image sensor 6 with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the first axis XL direction is obtained based on the position detected by the third position detection element 73b.
[0099] As described above, by arranging the first to third position detection elements 71b, 72b, and 73b, such as Hall elements (detected using the N-S polar boundary), the roll center of the image sensor 6 is located at the center of the optical axis ZL, and the first position detection element 71b and the second position detection element 72b are located on the first axis XL. Therefore, when roll and interference in the first axis XL direction are reduced, there is no misalignment in the second axis YL direction.
[0100] here, Figure 8 It is a top view showing the construction of the image sensor and the first to third actuators of the camera assembly according to the first improved example. Figure 9 It is shown Figure 8 A top view of an example of the image sensor of a camera assembly rolling around the optical axis.
[0101] For example, such as Figure 8 and Figure 9 As shown, the camera assembly 30 may further include a fourth actuator 74 along the first axis. The fourth actuator 74 applies a driving force to the movable substrate in the direction of the second axis, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5.
[0102] like Figure 8 As shown, the fourth actuator 74 includes a fourth coil 74a and a fourth magnet 74c. The fourth coil 74a is arranged on the movable substrate 4. The fourth magnet 74c is a permanent magnet (e.g., a bipolar magnetized magnet) arranged on the fixed plate 5 facing the fourth coil 74a. The fourth coil 74a and the fourth magnet 74c form a motor (magnetic conversion).
[0103] The fourth position detection element 74b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 at the center of the fourth coil 74a. The fourth position detection element 74b is a fourth Hall element 74b, used to detect the magnetism of the fourth magnet 74c.
[0104] The fourth position detection element 74b detects the relative position with respect to the fixed plate 5 by detecting the magnetism (magnetism of the S pole and N pole) of the fourth magnet 74c.
[0105] The first actuator 71, the second actuator 72, the third actuator 73, and the fourth actuator 74, together with the first position detection element 71a, the second position detection element 72a, the third position detection element 73a, and the fourth position detection element 74a, perform OIS control on the image sensor.
[0106] The third actuator 73 and the fourth actuator 74 are arranged symmetrically around the optical axis ZL (arranged at the same distance from the optical axis ZL).
[0107] The improved camera assembly can enhance the driving force and position detection accuracy of OIS control in the first axis XL direction.
[0108] According to the other construction of the first improved camera assembly and Figure 4 , Figure 5A and Figure 5B The camera components shown are the same.
[0109] As described above, the camera assembly 30 of the electronic device 10 according to this embodiment includes: a fixed plate 5, fixed to the housing of the camera assembly 30; a movable substrate 4, disposed above the fixed plate 5, movable relative to the fixed plate 5 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis ZL of the lens 1a; an image sensor 6, disposed on the movable substrate 4, for sensing light output from the lens 1a; a first actuator 71, disposed at a position along a first axis XL orthogonal to the optical axis ZL of the lens 1a, for applying a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the first axis XL direction, so that the movable substrate 4 on which the image sensor 6 is disposed moves relative to the fixed plate 5; a second actuator 72, disposed at a position along the first axis XL, for applying a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the first axis XL direction, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5; and a third actuator 73, disposed at a position along the first axis XL, for applying a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in a second axis YL direction perpendicular to the optical axis ZL and the first axis XL, so that the movable substrate 4 moves relative to the fixed plate 5. The image sensor 6 is arranged between the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 on the first axis XL.
[0110] Therefore, the OIS mechanism, such as the actuator and position sensing element, is located in the horizontal direction (direction XL of the first axis) of the camera assembly, thereby shortening the vertical direction (direction YL of the second axis) of the camera assembly.
[0111] For example, the absence of an OIS mechanism, such as actuators or position detection elements, between adjacent camera components increases the placement freedom for other applications.
[0112] As described above, the camera module and electronic device according to embodiments of this disclosure can achieve an optimal layout for mounting multiple cameras with an OIS mechanism.
