Abstract

A system for estimating tire mileage, wherein a tire supports a vehicle, is provided. The system includes a measurement of tire tread depth and a device that transmits the measurement of tire tread depth to a processor. The processor is configured to receive the measurement of tire tread depth and determine a tire mileage estimate from the measurement of tire tread depth using an inverse tread wear model. The processor is further configured to generate a notification upon determining the tire mileage estimate and transmit the notification to at least one of a vehicle control system and a display device to initiate the vehicle in response to the notification. A method for estimating tire mileage is also provided.
