Abstract

This invention provides a method for preparing and applying a graphene-supported ruthenium quantum dot catalyst. By designing and developing a Ru@N-rGO catalyst, the hydrogenation of phenol, a model compound of bio-oil, was studied to prepare high-value-added cyclohexanol. Specifically, using graphene oxide as a substrate, leveraging its rich surface chemistry, adding ammonium citrate as a binder and nitrogen source, and incorporating a Ru precursor, a Ru@N-rGO composite catalyst was successfully prepared via a wet chemical-carbothermic reduction method. The Ru@N-rGO composite catalyst promotes excellent conversion and stability in the hydrogenation of phenol to cyclohexanol.
