LITHIUM HYDROXIDE RECOVERY METHOD

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and device for recovering lithium hydroxide from a lithium-containing mineral, by pulping the lithium-containing raw material in the presence of water and an alkali metal carbonate, by washing the resulting pulp twice, initially at an elevated temperature and then in an aqueous solution containing an alkaline earth hydroxide, by separating the resulting pulp into solids and a solution containing lithium hydroxide, the latter being purified, where the lithium hydroxide monohydrate can be recovered from the purified solution by crystallization, and finally by separating the solution obtained during crystallization from the treatment and recycling it to one or more of the previous treatment steps.
