Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a chimney or a chimney arrangement. Such chimneys are known to be used to remove the exhaust gases generated by heating devices or stoves from houses. Recently, such chimneys have also typically been equipped with air intake shafts to supply air to the stove from outside. Such chimney arrangements are commonly referred to as air exhaust systems (LAS). The warm exhaust gases and the cool supply air of a heating system are usually routed through two separate ducts, which, however, are advantageously connected to one another. In this way, the residual heat of the exhaust gases can also be used to heat the cool supply air.

[0002] For example, German utility model DE 1 698 550 U discloses a fireplace with an air supply system for the combustion chamber and living space, with a smoke outlet designed as a smoke shaft. The fireplace also features a chimney cap, which promotes buoyancy in the chimney, especially during strong winds. The smoke shaft features wind collection openings on all sides above the roof to compensate for the suction created by changing wind currents in the heaters or living spaces through special openings just above the floor, thus enabling uninterrupted air circulation.

[0003] The German patent DE 10 75 40 A shows a device for the independent regulation of the secondary air inlet in generator and other furnaces by the draft of the primary air, wherein the primary and secondary air inlets are covered by positively connected flaps which are arranged so as to be easily movable and are balanced in their dimensions that they are simultaneously moved by the furnace itself in an opening or closing direction, in accordance with the draft of the furnace.

[0004] The German patent application DE 198 52 640 A1 discloses a device for the independent regulation of the secondary air inlet in generator and other furnaces by the draft of the primary air, wherein the primary and secondary air inlets are covered by positively connected flaps which are arranged so as to be easily movable and are balanced in their dimensions that they are simultaneously moved by the furnace itself in an opening or closing direction, in accordance with the draft of the furnace.

[0005] Since new houses are considerably more airtight than they were just a few years ago, these chimneys and fireplace stoves draw their combustion air directly from outside. Otherwise, an unavoidable lack of oxygen would occur, and windows would have to be opened, allowing cold air back into the room. Therefore, modern fireplace stoves are tested for room-sealed operation. This means that such stoves are airtight up to a certain negative pressure within the room (e.g., approximately 8 Pa).

[0006] For example, German patent application DE 31 51 940 A1 discloses a device for compensating pressure differences between a temperature-controlled room and the surrounding atmosphere, such as in a cold storage or freezer. A flap element is provided, which has a weight element and forces the flap into a closed position.

[0007] Previously, if a ventilation system malfunctioned or if a negative pressure greater than 8 Pa developed in the interior for any other reason, the ventilation system had to be shut down. This could, in turn, lead to compressor icing and thus to a malfunction of the entire ventilation and heating system.

[0008] The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a fireplace or chimney assembly that can continue to operate even in cases where a certain negative pressure is exceeded in the interior spaces. This object is achieved according to the invention by the subject matter of claim 1.

[0009] Advantageous embodiments and further developments are the subject of the subclaims.

[0010] A chimney arrangement according to the invention, particularly for buildings, comprises a discharge line that is in flow connection with a heating device present in the building in order to discharge exhaust gas generated during a combustion process of the heating device. Furthermore, the chimney arrangement comprises a supply line that is also in flow connection with the heating device in order to supply the heating device with the outside air required for the combustion process.

[0011] According to the invention, the chimney arrangement has a further connecting line for supplying outside air to an interior of the building and a valve device which controls the supply of outside air into the interior.

[0012] This additional connecting line ensures that a certain negative pressure is not exceeded in the interior, thus preventing the ventilation system from shutting down. This connecting line can be a very short line element or simply a through-hole.

[0013] The provided valve device ensures that the connection to the interior is only opened under the specified conditions, or that the outside air is only supplied to the interior of the building under the specified conditions.

[0014] For example, the chimney assembly according to the invention can have an additional shaft that leads directly to the outside via the roof. In the area of the installation room of a stove or fireplace, an opening, such as a bore, is preferably prefabricated in the chimney assembly. The valve assembly can preferably be inserted into this opening.

[0015] It is possible for this chimney arrangement to be permanently integrated into a building, but it would also be possible for the entire chimney arrangement to be designed as a prefabricated component that can be installed in the building. With such a prefabricated design, the chimney arrangement can, for example, have a receiving area for accommodating a heating device, such as a heater.

[0016] In a preferred embodiment, the supply of outside air into the interior space is controlled by the valve device depending on the pressure in this interior space. This makes it possible for outside air to be supplied into the space if the internal pressure is below a certain value.

[0017] In a further advantageous embodiment, the valve device allows outside air to be supplied to the interior as soon as a pressure difference between the outside pressure and the internal pressure in the interior exceeds a predetermined limit. In this case, the ratio or difference between an outside pressure and an internal pressure is also taken into account when supplying outside air to the interior through the chimney arrangement (where the internal pressure is, in particular, lower than the outside pressure).

[0018] In a further advantageous embodiment, this limit value is adjustable. This limit value is advantageously between 2 Pa and 20 Pa, preferably between 4 Pa and 15 Pa, preferably between 6 Pa and 12 Pa. This value is advantageously in a range of 8 Pa.

[0019] In a further advantageous embodiment, the valve device operates without power. This enables mains-independent operation, even in the event of a power failure or drive component failure.

[0020] In a further advantageous embodiment, the valve device has a valve body movable between two positions. This valve body can advantageously be moved based on pressure differences between the interior and an exterior space.

[0021] Advantageously, the valve device more precisely comprises a flap element that can be pivoted about a predetermined pivot axis between two pivot positions. In one pivot position, air is supplied to the interior, while in the other, air is not supplied. Generally, it would be possible for less air to be supplied to the interior in one pivot position than in the other pivot position.

[0022] In a further advantageous embodiment, an internal pressure existing in the interior space is applied to one side of the flap element, and an external pressure is applied to the other side of the flap element. In this way, the corresponding changes in the pressure conditions can also move the flap element, thus opening or closing the valve device.

[0023] In a further advantageous embodiment, the valve device has a weight element which urges the valve device into a closed position in which an air supply into the interior is interrupted by means of the further connecting line.

[0024] In this embodiment, the chimney arrangement has a pendulum flap which is set to a specific differential value, such as 8 Pa, by means of a counterweight, for example already at the factory.

[0025] In a further advantageous embodiment, the valve device is arranged in the supply line. It is possible for the connecting line to branch off from the supply line, and the valve device is preferably also arranged in this branching region. Thus, the third connecting line is preferably in flow communication with the supply line or preferably branches off from it. The valve device is preferably located inside the building and particularly preferably in a prefabricated opening.

[0026] In a further advantageous embodiment, the valve device is arranged in a protective housing which prevents this valve device from becoming dusty or dirty.

[0027] In a further advantageous embodiment, the chimney arrangement has a heat exchanger device that heats the outside air entering the interior. A heat exchanger device can also be provided that heats the outside air supplied to the heating stove. It is possible for such a heat exchanger to be already installed in the supply line to preheat any cold outside air. This heat exchanger can be designed in such a way that it uses the waste heat from the exhaust gas from the chimney to heat the outside air. Advantageously, the heat exchanger device is a gas / gas heat exchanger device, which therefore uses the waste heat from the exhaust gas to heat the supplied air.

[0028] Further advantages and embodiments can be seen from the attached drawings.

[0029] Showing: Fig. 1 a schematic representation of a chimney arrangement according to the invention; Fig. 2 a more detailed representation of a chimney arrangement with valve device; and Fig. 3 a further detailed representation of a valve device of a chimney arrangement.

[0030] Fig. 1 shows a chimney assembly 1 according to the invention, which is installed in a building 30. Reference numeral 34 refers to a roof of the building, and reference numeral 32 to a floor through which the chimney assembly 1 extends.

[0031] Reference numeral 4 denotes a discharge line or exhaust pipe, which removes the resulting combustion gas from the building. This exhaust pipe can be connected via a connection 42 to a heating device 10, such as a heating stove (illustrated only schematically). The heating device can be, for example, a stove fueled by oil, gas, wood, or pellets, or a stove that can be operated with several different fuels.

[0032] Reference numeral 6 denotes a supply line, via which (see arrow P1) outside air can also be supplied to the heating device 10. Reference numeral 36 denotes an interior of the building and reference numeral 2 schematically shows a valve device, via which a supply of air into the interior 36 can be regulated. It is possible that the outside air supplied from outside, as in Fig. 1, is deflected in order to be heated already during this deflection.

[0033] Fig. Figure 2 shows a more detailed illustration of a heating arrangement according to the invention. As indicated by arrow P2, the exhaust gas is discharged upward from the heating furnace. Reference numeral 46 denotes a corresponding inner pipe of the discharge line, and reference numeral 48 denotes an insulating element, or an element that serves for thermal insulation.

[0034] Outside air is again supplied to the heating furnace 10 via the supply line 6 along the arrow P1. A valve device 2 is arranged in a prefabricated opening 62 in a wall 16 of the chimney arrangement, by means of which a flow into the interior 36 can be controlled. For this purpose, the valve device has a valve flap that can be pivoted about a pivot axis S. This valve flap or flap element 22 can open automatically at a certain negative pressure into the interior 36 and allows air to flow in. The pivot axis here runs perpendicular to the plane of the figure.

[0035] Fig.Figure 3 illustrates this situation. In this case, a situation is shown in which the flap element was opened due to a specific pressure difference, or in this case, the flap element was pivoted counterclockwise. The air flowing along arrow P1 within the supply line 6 is partially guided into the interior space 36. Reference numeral 8 thus designates the connecting line, which here is formed from the short section of opening 62, through which the air now enters the interior space 36. Thus, by automatically opening the valve device 2, part of the supply air is branched off and conveyed directly into the interior space 36 or living space. This specific internal pressure, or more precisely the pressure difference, automatically opens the flap element at a differential pressure of approximately 8 bar.

[0036] Reference numeral 14 schematically designates a heat exchanger device that heats the outside air flowing in from outside. In practice, it would be possible for said outside air to be guided very close to the exhaust pipe 4 and thus heated by the escaping exhaust gases.
