Description

[0001] The invention relates to a door for a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1. The door, which can in particular be a pivoting or sliding side door, has a window frame and a vertically movable window pane. The window pane is a laminated glass pane with double glazing, comprising an inner pane and an outer pane.

[0002] Vehicle doors that have a frame for a window pane, so-called framed doors, have the advantage over frameless vehicle doors in that they allow for greater stability of the window pane, particularly with regard to outward tensile forces that can arise from negative pressure due to higher vehicle speeds. However, a disadvantage of framed doors compared to frameless doors is that a flush-glass window design, a so-called flush-glass window guide or flush-glass look, is more difficult to achieve. In particular, a flush-glass look means that an outer surface of the window pane is essentially flush or aligned with the edge of the roof of the vehicle body.

[0003] In a window guide for a motor vehicle door disclosed in DE 10 2019 213 427 A1, a flange serving to secure a window seal is arranged above the upper edge of a retractable window pane when the window pane is in the closed position. A gap exists between the free end of the flange and an inner pane plane. To ensure sufficient length for stable attachment of the seal, the flange extends diagonally upward, which also reduces the size of any remaining gap to an adjacent roof frame.

[0004] Within this gap is a sealing section with a concavely curved outer side, the lower edge of which is flush with the outer side of the window pane. The window pane has double glazing, with an outer pane and an inner pane together forming an upper edge with a slightly curved front side, and the upper edge resting in a stepped contact area of the sealing section when closed. A rear side edge of the window pane, viewed in the direction of travel, is provided with a guide element of a lateral guide that projects beyond the side edge, interacts with a seal, and stabilizes the window pane in the transverse direction of the vehicle.

[0005] DE 35 00 791 A1 discloses a motor vehicle door assembly in which guide shoes are attached to the inner surface of a retractable window pane. These guide shoes have a U-shaped groove in cross-section. The groove interacts with a guide rail.

[0006] DE 32 10 468 A1 also discloses a door and window frame in which U-shaped sliding pieces are arranged on a lowerable window pane in cross section, which interact with a guide rail of a frame part.

[0007] EP 0 340 483 B1 describes a vehicle frame door in which the outer surface of a laminated glass pane with double glazing is flush with a section of the outer roof skin. A disadvantage of the window guide system described therein, however, is that a guide profile of the window frame engages in a groove formed in the body roof in order to stabilize the window pane in the transverse direction of the vehicle, which is why the window frame has to be lowered slightly to open the door. A further disadvantage is that although there is only a relatively small gap between an upper edge of the outer pane and the start of the outer roof skin when the window is fully closed, with a sealing profile arranged in the gap, when the door is open and the window pane is therefore slightly lowered, the window frame, which is attached to the window pane, becomes visible.

[0008] This disadvantage does not exist in a vehicle frame door known from DE 10 2021 200 884 A1, since a one-sided door or window frame is used in which the window pane with double glazing only rests against one outer side of the frame when closed. In order to absorb outward tensile forces caused by negative pressure, an inner pane projects beyond an outer pane of the double glazing in an upper area and engages in a groove of a seal that is attached to the roof frame. In this way, a flush transition from an outer surface of the outer pane to the roof frame seal and to the roof frame can be achieved. However, here too, the window pane must be lowered slightly to open the door, so that the inner pane is no longer held by the groove and the sealing lips contained therein.

[0009] In the case of the frame door, as disclosed in the generic document DE 10 2020 128 617 A1, a laminated glass pane engages with an upper edge of an inner pane into a groove of a seal when the pane is fully raised, while a lower upper edge of the outer pane runs below a window frame strip, with the outer surfaces of the strip and the outer pane being flush. The seal is attached to the window frame strip, which in turn is attached to an upper end of the welding flange of the inner door panel or the striker plate. However, a disadvantage of this motor vehicle door is that there is a relatively large gap between the upper edge of the outer pane and the outer roof skin. This gap is closed by sealing lips for sealing against the outer roof skin, but also by the window frame strip, which also functions as decorative trim. The connection between the decorative trim and theTrim strips and seals forming an overall system are, on the one hand, complex and, on the other hand, do not correspond to the continuous look between the door window and the outer roof skin that is preferred today.

[0010] The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a generic motor vehicle door which, when the window is closed, enables a small distance between an upper edge of a window area visible from the outside and a roof frame of the motor vehicle as well as a flush transition of the outer surface of the outer window to the roof frame, without the window pane having to be slightly lowered to open the door.

[0011] The problem is solved by the features of claim 1. The motor vehicle door has a door body with a window shaft into which a vertically movable window pane can be completely or essentially completely lowered. Furthermore, the door has a window frame which serves to stabilize the raised window pane. The window pane is a laminated glass pane with double glazing, so that the window pane has an inner pane and an outer pane. In particular, it can be laminated safety glass (VSG), with a tear-resistant and tough-elastic film being arranged between the outer pane and the inner pane. A seal is attached to the window frame. The seal has at least one upwardly extending sealing lip which is arranged above an upper section of the window frame orin other words, it is arranged higher than this upper section and seals the window frame against a roof contour of a vehicle body or a roof frame when the door is closed. Furthermore, the seal has at least one sealing lip which is arranged to the side of the window frame and serves to seal between the window frame and the at least substantially raised window pane by being directed outwards and, in particular, inclined upwards when sealing. An upper edge of the outer pane extends above an upper edge of the inner pane or runs higher than the upper inner pane edge. In other words, this means that the outer pane projects beyond the inner pane. The upper edge of the outer pane can also extend at least some distance along the so-called A-pillar of the vehicle body orextend along a window frame section running adjacent to this pillar when the window pane is raised and the motor vehicle door is closed. The window pane further comprises a plastic strand which is attached to the upper edge of the inner pane and extends along the upper edge. The plastic strand has a base which is at least substantially continuous in the longitudinal direction of the plastic strand and is fastened to the upper edge of the inner pane, and a border which extends upwards from an inner border or an inner edge of the base and has a free end. The border can - like the base - be at least substantially continuous, i.e. without an interruption, or consist of sections. The plastic strand has a hook-like shape in cross-section, and depending on the above-mentioned design of the border, at least substantially continuous or in sections. The hook-like shape could also be described as a step-like shape. The plastic strand forms a groove with an inner surface of the outer pane. If the hook-like shape is continuous, the groove is also continuous, i.e. not interrupted. If the hook-like shape is present in sections, the groove consists of sections with interruptions in between. To match this groove, the seal has a tongue section that extends downwards and also has a free end. If the groove is present in sections, the tongue section could also have corresponding interruptions in its lengthwise direction, i.e. not be at least essentially continuous. The groove and the tongue section are designed in such a way that when the window pane is fully raised, the tongue section engages in the groove. The upper edge of the outer pane is not only higher than the upper edge of the inner pane, but also higher than the free end of the edge of the plastic strand, where "higher" is to be understood in a direction that is essentially perpendicular to the oblique course of the A-pillar if the upper edge of the outer pane or the inner pane is affected in a region along the A-pillar. The same generally applies in a region along the A-pillar to other details relating to height or direction, in particular to the features that the edge of the plastic strand extends "upwards" from an inner edge of the base and the spring section extends "downwards".

[0012] The fact that the window pane has a groove into which the tongue section of the seal engages means that the outer pane can extend relatively far upwards when the window pane is in its uppermost closed position, i.e. when it is fully raised. As a result, any existing gap between the upper edge of the outer pane and the roof frame or the outer roof skin is relatively narrow. Therefore, this gap, which is sealed by the at least one sealing lip arranged above the window frame or higher than the upper window frame section, does not need to be covered by decoration, in particular not by a decorative strip or the like. According to the invention, when the window pane is fully raised or raised, it is supported against a force acting outwards perpendicular to an outer surface of the outer pane by the interaction of the groove and the tongue section of the seal.In comparison, in the side door according to DE 10 2020 128 617 A1, the end of the inner pane that protrudes beyond the outer pane engages in a groove of the window frame strip or the seal arranged therein, so that the distance between an upper edge of the outer pane and the outer roof skin is relatively large. Lowering the window pane is not necessary with the invention in order to open the door. Since no decorative element is required to cover the aforementioned gap, a flush-glass appearance can be easily achieved according to the invention. Furthermore, according to the invention, the window pane is securely guided during its raising and lowering by the interaction of the groove and the tongue section.

[0013] According to the invention, the appearance of a frameless vehicle door can be created almost entirely despite the presence of a window frame. Due to the tongue-and-groove design of the window pane and seal, an additional retaining element, such as a rail or decorative bar, can be omitted to protect against forces acting perpendicular to the window pane.

[0014] Preferably, the seal additionally has a sealing lip arranged above the spring section, which rests against the inner surface of the outer pane when the window pane is fully or almost fully raised. This not only provides a sealing function but also provides additional stability to the window pane when pressure forces act perpendicularly on the outer surface of the outer pane.

[0015] Preferably, the seal has a sealing flange arranged substantially perpendicular to the outer pane such that the upper edge of the outer pane abuts against the sealing flange when the window pane reaches its uppermost closed position. This easily seals the gap between the outer pane and the seal.

[0016] The plastic strand can in particular consist of a thermoplastic polymer or of polyurethane (PUR).

[0017] Preferably, the plastic strand is produced by overmolding the laminated glass pane. This manufacturing method allows for very small manufacturing tolerances, which is due to the use of a closed mold. Alternatively, the plastic strand can also be glued to the laminated glass pane, in particular by gluing it to the upper edge of the inner pane and / or by gluing it to the inner surface of the outer pane. A groove provided in sections can be advantageous from a manufacturing perspective, especially if the plastic strand is produced by overmolding.

[0018] It can also be provided that the outer pane is tinted in an upper area so that it is less transparent, in particular so that it is almost invisible to the naked eye. This can ensure that, when the window pane is fully or almost closed, a large portion of the seal behind it is visually concealed. The plastic strip can also be visually concealed in this way.

[0019] The spring section can have an elastomer coating, e.g., made of thermoplastic vulcanizate, which is harder than the rest of the spring section, which can be made of soft rubber. This coating serves as wear protection against the friction that occurs between the plastic strand and the spring section.

[0020] Furthermore, according to the invention, a motor vehicle, in particular a passenger car, is provided which has a door according to the invention as described above.

[0021] The invention will be explained in more detail below using two exemplary embodiments, with reference to the figures. They show: Fig. 1 is a perspective, schematic partial view of a motor vehicle to illustrate the place of use of the invention, Fig. 2 the in Fig. 1 partial area marked “X” in sectional view in the door height direction in a first embodiment of the invention, Fig. 3 the in Fig. 1 partial area marked “X” in sectional view in the door height direction in a second embodiment of the invention, Fig. 4 the in Fig. 1 with "X" designated partial area in sectional view in door height direction in the second embodiment according to Fig. 3 .

[0022] In the figures, identical features are designated by identical reference numerals.

[0023] Fig. Figure 1 shows a motor vehicle 1 with two front and two rear side doors 2 and 2'. The illustrated front side door 2 has a door body 3 and, according to the first embodiment, a window pane 4 or, according to the second embodiment, a window pane 104, which can be lowered into a window shaft arranged in the door body 3. Furthermore, the side door 2 has a window frame 7, which Fig. 1 is only shown schematically and not in more detail.

[0024] Fig. 2 shows a door inner panel 5 and a striker plate 6 forming an upper portion 8 of the window frame 7. A welding flange 9 of the door inner panel 5 and a welding flange 10 of the striker plate 6 are welded together at one end of the welding flange 10.

[0025] A seal 12, which is essentially made of soft rubber, has a U-shaped plug-on section 13 with two legs 14 and 14' and a base area 14". The plug-on section 13 has retaining ribs 15 directed towards its interior. By means of the plug-on section 13, the seal 12 is fastened to the window frame 7 by being plugged onto the welding flanges 9 and 10, wherein the seat is secured by the retaining ribs 15. To increase the contact force, the plug-on section 13 has a metallic, also U-shaped reinforcement 16.

[0026] A sealing lip 18 extends from one end region of the leg 14 such that it rests against a roof frame 19 of the vehicle 1 at the free end. In addition to this sealing lip 18, a sealing lip 20 attached to the base region 14 also seals the window frame 7 against the roof frame 19.

[0027] A support section 22 of the seal 12 rests against the strike plate 6 and has a further sealing lip 23 for sealing against the strike plate 6 or the window frame 7.

[0028] The window pane 4 is laminated safety glass, so that the pane 4 has an outer pane 26, an inner pane 27 and a tear-resistant and tough-elastic film 28 arranged between them.

[0029] The outer pane 26 projects beyond the inner pane 27, so that an upper edge 26' of the outer pane 26 extends higher in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle or door than an upper edge 27' of the inner pane 27. In the fully raised state shown, the window pane 4 rests with the upper outer pane edge 26' against a sealing flange 30 which extends substantially perpendicular to the outer pane 26.

[0030] On the upper inner pane edge 27' is a plastic strand 31 produced by overmolding the double glazing, which has a hook-shaped shape or contour throughout in cross-section, in that the strand 31 has a base 32 and an edge 33 extending upwards from the base 32 on the inside and having a free end 34. Together with an inner surface 26" of the outer pane 26, the plastic strand 31 forms a continuous groove 35.

[0031] A spring portion 37 of the seal 12, which extends downwards from the base area 14", engages in the groove 35. The spring portion 37 has a free end 36, which is located a short distance above the base 32, and is in contact with the edge 33, which extends slightly obliquely upwards, i.e., not only in the vehicle or door height direction, but also slightly in the vehicle or door transverse direction. The spring portion 37, which extends continuously in the longitudinal direction corresponding to the groove 35, has an elastomer coating 37' made of thermoplastic vulcanizate.

[0032] From a lower end of the support section 22, a further sealing lip 38 extends, when there is no contact with the window pane 4, predominantly in the transverse direction of the vehicle or door and, in the shown state of the closed window pane 4, rests with a free end against the plastic strand 31.

[0033] A further sealing lip 40 is arranged above the spring section 37 and, when the window pane 4 is fully and almost fully closed, rests against the inner surface 26" of the outer pane 26. The sealing lip 40 creates a sealing line between the window pane 4 and the seal 12, thereby forming a water channel that serves to drain any leakage water that may enter between the sealing flange 30 and the upper edge 26' of the outer pane 26. The sealing lip 38 has a flocking 38', and the sealing lip 40 has a flocking 40' that extends slightly downwards toward the spring section 37. The sealing lips 18 and 20 also each have a flocking. Instead of the flocking, another type of sliding coating could also be provided.

[0034] The gap between the upper edge 26' of the outer pane 26 and the roof frame 19 has the width designated "Y", which is very small.

[0035] The Fig. 3 and Fig. The second embodiment shown in Figure 4 differs from the first embodiment by a differently designed window pane 104 with an outer pane 126, an inner pane 127 and a tear-resistant and tough-elastic film 128 arranged therebetween. A plastic strand 131 of the window pane 104 has a base 132 which, like the base 32, is continuous, i.e., not interrupted, but has a greater extent in the vehicle height direction than the base 32. On the inside, an edge 133 with a free end 134 extends from the base 132. However, the edge 133, in contrast to the edge 33, only extends in sections, so that consequently a groove 135, which forms the edge 133 with an inner surface 126" of the outer pane 126, is only provided in sections or sequentially. In the sectional view of the Fig.4, the groove 135 has an interruption at the location shown. A correspondingly designed distance between an upper edge 126' of the outer pane 126 and an upper edge 127' of the inner pane 127 and the vertical extension of the base 132 ensure that, in this second embodiment, the sealing lip 38 rests continuously against the base 132 when the window is closed, and not against the edge 133, which is only present in sections.

[0036] In both embodiments, the features according to the invention are also present along the A-pillar, i.e., the plastic strand 31 or 131 also extends in the area of the A-pillar. Likewise, the upper edge 26' or 126' of the outer pane 26 or 126 and the upper edge 27' or 127' of the inner pane 27 or 127 also extend along the A-pillar.

[0037] The invention can of course also be implemented accordingly in the rear side door 2'.
