Description

[0001] The invention relates to a hinge device for a vehicle door to be coated.

[0002] In the manufacturing of motor vehicles, vehicle parts are coated at a station on a production line. This coating process can include, for example, painting. To ensure accessibility to the individual components and assemblies of the vehicle during coating, so-called painting aids are known, which are mounted separately on the vehicle in the form of a door opener. These painting aids, designed as door openers, hold the vehicle doors in an open position relative to the vehicle body.

[0003] After the painting process, the additional, separately mounted painting aid on the vehicle must be removed and replaced with a hinged device without a painting aid. This proves to be cumbersome and time-consuming.

[0004] One object of an embodiment of the invention is to propose a hinge device for a vehicle door to be coated, with which the coating and assembly of a vehicle door can be made more efficient.

[0005] This problem is solved by a hinge device for a vehicle door to be coated, comprising a first hinge leg, a second hinge leg, a screw- or bolt-like hinge element that extends through a through opening in the first hinge leg and a through opening in the second hinge leg with a hinge section, which includes a head section on a side of the second hinge leg facing away from the first hinge leg, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the through opening in the second hinge leg, and which rotatably fixes the first hinge leg and the second hinge leg to each other and relative to each other about a hinge axis passing through the hinge element, with a fixing element that is arranged between the second hinge leg and the head section of the hinge element, which includes a through recess.through which the hinge means extends the fixing means, which comprises a holding section with which the fixing means can be fixed to the first hinge leg, and which comprises a receiving section, and with a locking means that can be fixed to the second hinge leg on a side of the second hinge leg facing the fixing means, wherein the hinge legs can be moved from a release position in which the hinge legs are rotatable about the hinge axis relative to each other into a locking position that fixes the hinge legs against relative movement about the hinge axis, in which the holding section of the fixing means is fixed to the first hinge leg and the locking means is fixed to the receiving section of the fixing means.

[0006] Because the hinge device includes a fixing means that can be fixed by the hinge means on the first hinge leg and on the second hinge leg, the first hinge leg and the second hinge leg can be fixed immovably relative to each other without the need for an additional painting aid.

[0007] The locking device, with its holding section and its receiving section, allows the first and second hinge legs to be fixed in the locking position against movement relative to each other. This enables the vehicle door to be coated in the locked position.

[0008] After coating the vehicle door, the fixing element can be easily removed, for example by loosening the hinge element and allowing the fixing element to be removed from the hinge element in an arrangement separate from the first hinge leg and the second hinge leg.

[0009] The hinge element can then be reinserted with its hinge section into the opening of the first hinge leg and the second hinge leg, making it possible to design the hinge device with fewer components.

[0010] Furthermore, it is also conceivable that after coating and after removing the hinge component, the hinge component is replaced with a new hinge component.

[0011] In both cases, no separate painting aid is required; instead, the same hinge device can be used. This reduces assembly time and makes vehicle production more efficient.

[0012] In the locked position, the first and second hinge legs are fixed against relative movement. This relative movement can include rotation about the hinge axis. In this case, both the first and second hinge legs are fixed against rotation about the hinge axis relative to each other.

[0013] The first hinge arm can be fixed to the vehicle body in a rotationally fixed manner, and the second hinge arm can be fixed to a vehicle door in a rotationally fixed manner. Alternatively, it is also conceivable that the first hinge arm can be fixed to a vehicle door in a rotationally fixed manner, and the second hinge arm can be fixed to a vehicle body in a rotationally fixed manner. In both cases, the vehicle door is fixed against rotation relative to the vehicle body in the locked position and is fixed relative to the vehicle body in the open position.

[0014] The receiving section of the locking device can, in principle, be of any design, provided it fulfills the technical function of securing the locking device in the locked position. It is advantageous if the receiving section has at least one recess extending parallel to the hinge axis and projecting backwards with respect to the second hinge leg, and / or if the locking device is pin- or pin-shaped, extending parallel to the hinge axis and projecting forwards with respect to the second hinge leg, wherein, in the locked position, the locking device engages in the recess of the receiving section of the locking device and forms a rear grip to prevent rotation about the hinge axis.

[0015] The recess in the receiving section of the locking device may comprise a funnel-shaped depression into which the locking device engages, or it may be continuous, with the locking device also extending through the recess.

[0016] Because the locking device is designed in a pin- or pin-like shape, it includes an inclined or rounded surface contour at its free end, which simplifies the joining of the locking device, especially when the locking device comes into contact with the receiving section of the fixing device.

[0017] The retaining section of the locking device can be positioned at any technically feasible location on the first hinge leg in the locked position. It is advantageous if the retaining section of the locking device, in the locked position, bears flat against a corresponding, particularly complementary, contact surface of the first hinge leg, especially if the contact surface is recessed relative to the outer surface of the first hinge leg and the retaining section is positively locked to the hinge axis in the locked position.

[0018] Because the holding section of the locking device lies flat against the contact surface of the first hinge device in the locking position, the first hinge leg and the second hinge leg can be easily fixed against movement around the hinge axis in the locking position.

[0019] The forces to be absorbed by the fixing element correspond to the expected forces acting on the vehicle body and / or the vehicle door during coating and which must be absorbed by the hinge device. In such a case, the hinge device can be designed simply and cost-effectively by clamping the receiving section of the fixing element and / or the holding section of the fixing element in an undisplaced basic position and allowing it to be elastically displaced from the undisplaced basic position into at least one deflected displacement position.

[0020] Because the receiving section of the locking device is elastically displaceable and is clamped in the undisplaced basic position, the receiving section can overcome surface sections of the first hinge leg by elastic displacement in order to lie flat against the contact surface of the first hinge leg in the locking position.

[0021] This applies equally to the receiving section of the locking device, which, upon impact with the locking device, can be elastically displaced by it and, in the locking position in which the locking device is aligned with the recess in the receiving section of the locking device, returns to the undisplaced basic position and there forms a rear grip with the locking device with respect to the hinge axis.

[0022] With regard to the receiving section of the fixing means, it may additionally or alternatively be provided that the second hinge leg comprises a further opening in which the locking means is arranged in whole or in part and / or that the second hinge leg comprises a clamping means by which the locking means is pre-tensioned in the direction of the fixing means.

[0023] In such a case, the locking device can also be pre-tensioned into the locking position parallel to the hinge axis and displaced upon contact with the receiving section of the fixing device in order to form a rear grip with respect to the hinge axis in the locking position with the recess in the receiving section.

[0024] To facilitate the movement of the first and second hinge legs from the release position to the locking position and to enable manual release of the two hinge legs, it is advantageous if the locking means, particularly adjacent to the receiving section, comprises a guide section that extends obliquely transversely to the hinge axis and in a direction away from the second hinge leg and that guides the locking means when moving from the release position to the locking position, and / or if the locking means comprises a manually operable tab-like release section that can be manually operated in a direction away from the second hinge leg to release the locking means from the rear grip with the recess, particularly wherein the guide section comprises or forms the release section.

[0025] The guide section can be designed as a lead-in section and may, for example, include a lead-in ramp that runs obliquely with respect to the hinge axis.

[0026] The release section can be reached manually, in particular by a finger of an assembly person, thereby causing the receiving section to move away from the second hinge leg, disengaging the locking device and the receiving section of the fixing device and allowing relative movement from the first hinge leg to the second hinge leg.

[0027] The hinge device can be designed to be compact if the guide section and the release section comprise one and the same section.

[0028] In principle, it is conceivable that the hinge element comprises a conventional screw or bolt. The fixing element is then placed onto the hinge element with its hinge section before the hinge element is inserted, until it rests against the head section of the hinge element.

[0029] In order to ensure free movement of the fixing means, even in the position of the hinge means that fixes the first hinge leg to the second hinge leg, it proves advantageous if the hinge means comprises a first collar section which is arranged on the head section on the side of the head section facing the second hinge leg, which has a diameter which is smaller than the diameter of the recess in the fixing means, and which has a thickness in the direction parallel to the hinge axis which is greater than the thickness of the fixing means.

[0030] Because the first section of the collar has a thickness greater than the thickness of the fixing element, free movement of the fixing element in the release position of the hinge device is always ensured.

[0031] The hinge element can be designed to be suitable both for the coating process, i.e., to accommodate the fixing element, and for normal operation of the hinge device. However, embodiments of the hinge device are also conceivable in which the hinge element is used exclusively during the coating process and is subsequently replaced with a new hinge element on which no fixing element is arranged.

[0032] In such a case, it proves advantageous if the hinge device comprises a contact disc arranged between the second hinge leg and the first collar section of the hinge means, and which includes a through-hole with which the contact disc is pressed onto a second collar section of the hinge means, wherein the second collar section is arranged on the first collar section on the side of the head section facing the second hinge leg, and has a diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the first collar section and larger than the diameter of the through-holes in the hinge legs.

[0033] If the hinge device includes a locking washer that is pressed onto the second flange section of the hinge element, the locking element is held securely to the hinge element. In this case, before the locking washer is pressed onto the second flange section, the locking element is first positioned on the first flange section, and then the locking washer is pressed onto the second flange section.

[0034] By providing a contact disc, the contact surface with which the locking device rests on the second hinge leg is increased.

[0035] When coating the body and the vehicle door, it is almost impossible to completely avoid coating the hinge mechanism, particularly contact with paint. If paint penetrates the hinge, the hinge element can become stuck to the hinge mechanism as the coating material hardens, making it difficult to remove the locking element after the coating process. To prevent an increase in the release torque required to detach the locking element from the hinge mechanism, one embodiment of the hinge mechanism includes a sealing element, in particular a paint ring, which is positioned between the head section of the hinge element and the locking element and which completely or at least partially surrounds the hinge element with respect to the hinge axis.

[0036] Furthermore, it proves advantageous if the fixing means comprises grooves arranged at the recess, in particular at or around the recess, especially paint scraper grooves, which are open towards the recess and which extend in a particularly arrow-shaped, radial or spiral direction away from the hinge axis.

[0037] If the hinge device includes a sealing agent that is arranged between the head section of the hinge means and the fixing means, the risk of ingress of coating material, especially paint, is reduced.

[0038] If the fixing agent includes grooves arranged at the recess, in particular paint scraper grooves, any coating materials that have penetrated, especially paints that have hardened, can be removed more easily.

[0039] The fixing element can comprise any material. For example, it can be made of metal, in particular sheet metal, and include a bent stamped part. Furthermore, the fixing element can comprise a plastic part, in particular a plastic injection-molded part.

[0040] To facilitate the use of the hinge device for both coating and normal operation of the motor vehicle, it is advantageous if the hinge device comprises at least one bushing which is arranged in the opening of the second hinge leg, abutting the second hinge leg, and on whose edge region, facing away from the first hinge leg, the head section of the hinge means or the contact washer abuts, and / or if the hinge device comprises at least one threaded bushing which is arranged in the opening of the first hinge leg, abutting the first hinge leg, which with an edge section engages behind the first hinge leg on the side facing away from the second hinge leg transversely to the hinge axis, which extends completely or at least partially through the bushing in the second hinge leg, and which comprises an internal thread section which corresponds, in particular complementarily,is formed into an external thread section on the hinge section of the hinge means.

[0041] By using a bushing on one side and a threaded bushing on the other, the hinge can incorporate a bolt with a threaded section or a screw, making the hinge universally applicable for both coating and normal operation. This reduces assembly time.

[0042] Further features, details and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the attached patent claims, the graphic representation and the following description of three preferred embodiments of the hinge device.

[0043] The drawing shows: Fig. 1 A sectional view of a first embodiment of the hinge device; Fig. 2 A top view of an area of a fixing means of a second embodiment of the hinge device; Fig. 3 A sectioned partial view of a third embodiment of the hinge device.

[0044] The figures show exemplary embodiments of a hinge device, designated overall by reference numeral 2, for a vehicle door to be coated (not shown in the figures). The hinge device 2 comprises a first hinge leg 4 and a second hinge leg 6.

[0045] The first hinge leg 4 and the second hinge leg 6 are rotatably fixed to one another about a hinge axis 10 by a screw- or bolt-like hinge element 8. For this purpose, the first hinge leg 4 includes a through opening 28a and the second hinge leg 6 includes a through opening 28b, through which the hinge element 8 extends with a hinge section 12. On a side of the second hinge leg 6 facing away from the first hinge leg 4, the hinge element 8 includes a head section 14, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the through openings 28b in the first hinge leg 4 and in the second hinge leg 6.

[0046] Furthermore, the hinge device 2 comprises a fixing means 16, which is arranged between the second hinge leg 6 and the head section 14 of the hinge means 8. The fixing means 16 includes a continuous recess 18 through which the hinge means 8 and the fixing means 16 pass.

[0047] Furthermore, the fixing means 16 includes a retaining section 20 with which the fixing means 16 can be fixed to the first hinge leg 4. In addition, the fixing means 16 includes a receiving section 22.

[0048] Furthermore, the hinge device 2 comprises a locking means 24 which can be fixed on the second hinge leg 6 on a side of the second hinge leg 6 facing the fixing means 16.

[0049] The hinge legs 4, 6 can be moved from a release position, in which the hinge legs 4, 6 are rotatable relative to each other about the hinge axis 10, into a locking position that secures the hinge legs 4, 6 against relative movement relative to each other about the hinge axis 10, in which the holding section 20 of the locking means 16 is fixed to the first hinge leg 4 and the locking means 24 is fixed to the receiving section 22 of the locking means 16.

[0050] At the in Fig. In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the fixing means 16 on the receiving section 22 comprises a recess 26 extending parallel to the hinge axis 10 and set back with respect to the second hinge leg 6. The locking means 24 is pin- or pin-shaped and extends parallel to the hinge axis 10. The locking means 24 is, in the case shown in Figure 1, Fig. 1 shown embodiment in an opening 56 in the second hinge leg 6 arranged section by section.

[0051] Adjacent to recording section 22 is the one in Fig. In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figure 1, a tab-like release section 30 is arranged, which can be manually actuated to move the locking element 16 away from the second hinge leg 6 in the area of the receiving section 22 and thereby disengage the locking element 24 from the recess 26. On the side of the locking element 16 facing away from the receiving section 22, the retaining section 20 rests flat against a contact surface 32 of the first hinge element 8 in the locking position.

[0052] At the in Fig. In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, the hinge means 8, with its section extending parallel to the hinge axis 10, comprises several areas. The hinge section 12 of the fixing means 16 is arranged in the through opening 28 of the first hinge leg 4 and the second hinge leg 6.

[0053] Here, the hinge section 12 is not arranged directly against the first hinge leg 4 and the second hinge leg 6, but engages in a threaded bushing 34. The threaded bushing 34 is arranged in the opening 28a of the first hinge leg 4, abutting the first hinge leg 4, and engages behind the first hinge leg 4 with an edge section 36, which abuts the first hinge leg 4 on a side of the first hinge leg 4 facing away from the second hinge leg 6. An internal thread section 38 is arranged within the threaded bushing 34, which corresponds to an external thread section 40 of the hinge section 12 of the hinge element 8.Furthermore, the hinge device 2 comprises a bushing 42 which is arranged in the opening 28b of the second hinge leg 6, abutting the second hinge leg 6, and on whose edge region 44, facing away from the first hinge leg 4, the head section 14 can be placed. In the case of the Fig. In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figure 1, a contact disc 46 is located at the edge area 44.

[0054] The threaded bushing 34 extends through the bushing 42 in sections.

[0055] The hinge element 8 further comprises, between the head section 14 and the hinge section 12, a first collar section 48, which has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the recess 18 of the fixing element 16 and a thickness in the direction parallel to the hinge axis 10 greater than the thickness of the fixing element 16. The first collar section 48 allows free movement of the fixing element 16 without the fixing element 16 being clamped by the head section 14 against the bearing washer 46 or the second hinge leg 6.

[0056] Adjoining the first flange section 48, the hinge means 8 comprises a second flange section 50, onto which the support washer 46 is pressed. The second flange section 50 has a diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the first flange section 48 and larger than the diameter of the hinge section 12.

[0057] Based on the in Fig. The following briefly describes the operating principle of the hinge device 2 in the embodiment shown in 1: The hinge device 2 is used before a coating process, in particular before painting a vehicle door and / or body. Before coating, the first hinge leg 4 and the second hinge leg 6 are fixed relative to each other. For this purpose, the first hinge leg 4 and the second hinge leg 6 are moved from the release position to the locking position. During this movement, the locking element 16 is moved by the locking element 24 and / or by the contact surface 32 of the first hinge leg 4 until the locking element 16, with its retaining section 20, rests against the contact surface 32 and the locking element 24 engages in the recess 26 of the receiving section 22 of the locking element 16. In this arrangement, the first hinge leg 4 and the second hinge leg 6 are fixed against relative movement about the hinge axis 10.

[0058] To release from the locking position, the locking means 16 on the release section 30 is manually actuated, whereby the locking means 24 disengages from the recess 26 and the first hinge leg 4 and the second hinge leg 6 are movable relative to each other.

[0059] Fig. Figure 2 shows a second embodiment of the hinge device 2, in which only a detailed view of a fixing element 16 in the area of the recess 18 is visible. Grooves 52 are arranged in the recess 18, which are open towards the recess 18 and extend in an arrow-shaped, radial, or spiral direction away from the hinge axis 10. The grooves 52 can form paint scraper grooves, which reduce the release torque that must be overcome to release the hinge element 8 from the hinge device 2 after coating.

[0060] Fig. Figure 3 shows a third embodiment of the hinge device 2, which shows a detailed sectional view through the area of the edge section 36 of the hinge means 8. In the case of the Fig. In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figure 3, a sealing element 54, in particular a lacquer ring, is arranged between the head section 14 of the hinge element 8 and the fixing element 16. The sealing element 54 reduces the risk of coating material, in particular lacquer, penetrating during the coating process, thereby also reducing the risk of an increase in the release torque.
