Description

[0001] The invention relates to a connector part for connection with another connector part according to claim 1, furthermore a connector system, a set for manufacturing a connector part and a method for manufacturing a connector part.

[0002] Such a connector part comprises a plug-in body that can be connected to the other connector part by means of a plug-in connection and a screw sleeve with a thread, wherein the plug-in body is at least partially arranged inside the screw sleeve.

[0003] These connector components are typically narrower on the mating side than in the cable connection area. For this reason, mounting the screw sleeve can be challenging.

[0004] For example, the plug-in body can be pressed into the screw sleeve for assembly. This allows for simple manufacturing as only two parts are required, but is typically only practical for certain applications.

[0005] If the connector is subjected to vibrations during operation, the connection between the plug and the screw sleeve can loosen over time. For example, if the vibrations cause the screw sleeve to rotate relative to the plug, the screw sleeve can detach from a threaded connection on the other connector part. To achieve sufficiently good vibration resistance for harsh environments, the screw sleeve and plug can be manufactured with exceptionally high precision to create a particularly tight and secure press fit. However, achieving this level of precision can be complex to manufacture, and some materials are unsuitable for such a connection if it needs to be vibration-resistant to this extent.

[0006] The object of the present invention is to provide a connector part comprising a screw sleeve and a plug body which, despite its simple manufacture, enables a secure connection between the screw sleeve and the plug body.

[0007] This problem is solved by an object having the features of claim 1.

[0008] Accordingly, a connector part (for electrical connection with a correspondingly designed connector part) comprises a screw sleeve, a plug body, and a locking element. The screw sleeve has a thread, which can be either external or internal. The plug body can be connected to the other connector part in a plugging direction. At least one contact element is fixed relative to the plug body, and this contact element is designed and arranged for (e.g., electrical) contact with a contact element of the other connector part. The plug body is at least partially located within the screw sleeve. The locking element is located between the screw sleeve and the plug body, particularly in a radial direction (perpendicular to a central axis running through the connector part and parallel to the plugging direction). The locking element holds the screw sleeve to the plug body, in particular in a form-fitting manner.

[0009] This design allows for a secure connection between the screw sleeve and the connector body while maintaining simple manufacturing. By fixing the screw sleeve and connector body together with the locking element, for example, pressing the screw sleeve onto the connector body is unnecessary, thus achieving improved vibration resistance despite simple manufacturing. Other possible methods for fixing the screw sleeve to the connector body would be overmolding and / or welding to itself or to other components. However, both of these would lead to a comparatively complex manufacturing process and a limitation of the materials used. These issues can be avoided with the solution described here, in which the interposed locking element fixes the screw sleeve to the connector body, resulting in an improved connector component.

[0010] The locking element can be ring-shaped. This allows for easy installation and secure mounting of the locking element. Furthermore, this ensures a uniform fixation of the screw sleeve to the plug body.

[0011] The locking element can have a conical shape. This allows the locking element to be easily positioned, and in particular snapped into place, during assembly of the connector part. Furthermore, this design ensures good support between the screw sleeve and the connector body in both the radial and axial directions (relative to the connector axis).

[0012] Furthermore, the locking element can have a meandering or zigzag shape. This allows the locking element to spread open and snap back into place during manufacturing. It also compensates for inaccuracies in the production of the individual parts. The meandering shape, for example, extends along a conical surface around the central axis.

[0013] In one embodiment, the plug body (and / or the screw sleeve) has a meandering contour. The plug body may, for example, have serrations. The locking element can engage with the contour, e.g., the serrations, in a way that prevents rotation. This allows for a simple and effective vibration protection mechanism that prevents the screw sleeve from rotating relative to the plug body.

[0014] For example, the meandering shape of the locking element engages with the meandering contour of the plug body (and / or the screw sleeve). This enables good vibration protection without requiring precise alignment during manufacturing.

[0015] The locking element can be held in a rotationally fixed position on the screw sleeve (or the plug body), in particular by means of a positive locking mechanism, for example by one or more projections that engage in one or more openings. This allows for robust rotational locking on the screw sleeve (and / or the plug body).

[0016] In one embodiment, the locking element rests against a stop surface of the screw sleeve and / or against a stop surface of the plug body. The locking element can be supported against the stop surface of the screw sleeve and the stop surface of the plug body in opposite directions. This allows for a particularly secure connection, which can also be established simply by plugging the parts together. The stop surfaces of the screw sleeve and the stop surface of the plug body can be axially offset from each other and / or parallel to each other and / or radially offset from each other starting from a central axis parallel to the insertion direction.

[0017] In this further development, the locking element extends along an axis parallel to the insertion direction from a first axial stop (or end) to a second axial stop (or end). The first axial stop can rest against the stop surface of the screw sleeve. Alternatively or additionally, the second axial stop can rest against the stop surface of the plug body. This allows for a secure and easily manufactured connection.

[0018] The connector body comprises, for example, a (particularly electrically insulating) plastic, especially an insulating material, or consists thereof. Alternatively or additionally, the screw sleeve can comprise or consist of a metal or a metal alloy. In this way, electrical insulation of the contact elements can be achieved directly by the connector body, and a mechanically robust design of the screw sleeve can be provided. A metallic screw sleeve can also provide electromagnetic shielding.

[0019] The locking element is designed to be spring-loaded and flexible. This allows it to easily snap into its final position during assembly of the connector part.

[0020] Furthermore, the fuse component can be electrically conductive. For example, the fuse component may comprise or consist of a metal or metal alloy. In this way, the fuse component can provide electromagnetic shielding.

[0021] In one embodiment, the connector part further includes electromagnetic shielding. The locking element can be electrically connected to the shielding of the connector part. This improves the shielding of the connector part. The shielding extends, for example, around the plug body (or a part thereof) and / or around a terminal body (or a part thereof) of the connector part for connecting a cable. The shielding can be electrically connected to the shielding of the cable. If the screw sleeve is also electrically conductive, for example, made of metal, then continuous shielding can be achieved via the locking element. This can also be continued in a corresponding manner via a screw sleeve of the other connector part.

[0022] The locking element can be snapped into place with the screw sleeve and / or the plug body. This facilitates simple manufacturing.

[0023] The connector part can be a plug or a socket, and the other connector part can be the opposite, i.e., a socket or a plug.

[0024] According to one aspect, a connector system is specified, comprising a connector part according to any of the embodiments described herein and the matching other connector part.

[0025] The other connector part of the connector system can comprise the following: a screw sleeve with a thread, a plug body that can be connected to the connector part by means of a plug, on which at least one contact element for electrical contacting the at least one contact element of the connector part is fixed, wherein the plug body is arranged at least partially inside the screw sleeve, and a locking element which is arranged between the screw sleeve and the plug body and by means of which the screw sleeve is held on the plug body, wherein the thread of the screw sleeve of the connector part is designed as an external thread and the thread of the screw sleeve of the other connector part is designed as an internal thread which can be screwed onto the external thread in order to plug the contact elements of the connector parts into one another.

[0026] According to one aspect, a set for manufacturing the connector part according to any of the embodiments described herein is specified. The set comprises: a screw sleeve with a thread, a plug body that can be connected to another connector part by plugging along a direction, on which at least one contact element for electrically contacting a contact element of the other connector part is fixed, and a locking element, wherein the screw sleeve can be plugged onto the plug body with the locking element in such a way that the locking element mounted on one side of the screw sleeve and the plug body locks into the other side of the screw sleeve and the plug body in order to hold the screw sleeve on the plug body.

[0027] According to one aspect, a method for manufacturing a connector part according to any of the embodiments described herein is specified. The method comprises the following step: mounting a locking element onto a screw sleeve or onto a plug body, wherein the screw sleeve has a thread and the plug body can be connected to another connector part in a plugging direction. At least one contact element for electrically contacting a contact element of the other connector part may also be fixed to the plug body. The method further comprises the following step: placing the screw sleeve onto the plug body with the locking element interposed, such that the locking element mounted on one side of the screw sleeve and the plug body engages on the other side of the screw sleeve and the plug body to hold the screw sleeve on the plug body.

[0028] The underlying concept of the invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiments shown in the figures. The figures show: Fig. 1A-1C Views of an embodiment of a connector part in the form of a plug with a locking element; Fig. 2 a perspective view of a screw sleeve with the locking element of the connector part according to Fig. 1A-1C; Fig. 3 a perspective view of a plug body with the locking element of the plug connector part according to Fig. 1A-1C; Fig. 4A-4C Views of an embodiment of a connector part in the form of a socket with a locking element; Fig. 5 a perspective view of a screw sleeve with the locking element of the connector part according to Fig. 4A-4C; Fig. 6 a perspective view of the locking element of the connector part according to Fig. 4A-4C; Fig. 7 a sectional view of the connector part according to Fig. 4A-4C during assembly; and Fig. 8A-8C Views of an exemplary embodiment of a connector system with the connector part according to Fig. 1A-1C and the electrically connected connector part according to Fig. 4A-4C.

[0029] Fig. Figures 1A-1C show a connector part 1 in the form of a plug, which is connected to a correspondingly designed other connector part, in this case the other connector part 2, according to Fig. 4A-4C, is connectable, and in this example, electrically connectable.

[0030] The connector part 1 comprises a screw sleeve 10, which can also be referred to as a threaded sleeve, a plug body 11 with contact elements 12 and a locking element 13. In this case, the connector part 1 also comprises a terminal body 14.

[0031] The screw sleeve 10 has a thread 100, which in this example is designed as an external thread. The thread 100 runs around a central thread axis. The thread axis runs parallel to an insertion direction E, along which the contact elements 12 of the connector part 1 with contact elements 22 (see figure). Fig. 4A-4C) of the other connector part 2 can be plugged in. The connector part 1 has pins and / or receptacles as contact elements 12, whereby in the illustrated embodiment at least one pin and a receptacle for a pin are provided only by way of example.

[0032] The screw sleeve 10 forms a receptacle, which in this case is circularly cylindrical. A cylindrical section 113 is inserted into this receptacle (see e.g. Fig. 3) of the connector body 11. The contact elements 12 are provided on the cylindrical section 113. The cylindrical section 113 also forms a receptacle 110 into which an insertion section 210 of the other connector part (see e.g. Fig. 4C) is pluggable. The contact elements 12 are arranged in the receptacle 110. The plug-in body 11 forms a plug-in face with the contact elements 12, in this case on the side of the receptacle 110. The plug-in face allows the connector part 1 to be plugged together with the other connector part 2.

[0033] Furthermore, the screw sleeve 10 has a flange 102. In this example, the flange 102 abuts the thread 100. The screw sleeve 10 also has a knurled 103. The screw sleeve 10 can be manually rotated around the thread axis or held in place by the knurled 103. The knurled 103 is formed on the outside of the flange 102.

[0034] As particularly evident Fig. As can be seen in Figure 1C, the plug body 11 is widened on its side facing away from the mating face. It has a larger diameter there (perpendicular to the thread axis) than on the cylindrical section 113. The screw sleeve 10 can therefore be attached to the plug body 11 from a pre-assembled state separate from the plug body 11, via the cylindrical section 113, but not from the other side. In the assembled state, sections of the plug body 11 (in particular the cylindrical section 113) are arranged inside the screw sleeve 10. The widened side of the plug body 11 is located outside the screw sleeve 10. The plug body 11 can also be referred to as a plug insert or contact carrier.

[0035] The widened side of the plug body 11 abuts and is attached to the terminal body 14. The plug body 11 is formed in one piece. In this case, the plug body 11 is made of a plastic, specifically an electrical insulator. It is also possible for the plug body 11 and the terminal body 14 to be formed in one piece. Furthermore, it is possible for the plug body 11 to be formed in multiple parts.

[0036] The plug body 11 is made of an electrical insulator, here exemplified by an electrically insulating plastic. The screw sleeve 10 comprises, for example, one or more metals, here exemplified by a metal alloy. For example, the screw sleeve 10 comprises or consists of brass, stainless steel, or die-cast zinc.

[0037] An (electrical) cable can be connected or is connected to the terminal body 14 in order to electrically connect conductors of the cable to the contact elements 12.

[0038] The previously mentioned locking element 13 is arranged between the screw sleeve 10 and the plug body 11. The locking element 13 surrounds the plug body 11. The screw sleeve 10 surrounds the locking element 13. The locking element 13 holds the screw sleeve 10 to the plug body 11. The locking element 13 secures the screw sleeve 10 to the plug body 11 (and vice versa).

[0039] The fuse part 13 is particularly important in the Fig. 1C, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. The locking element 13 is designed in the form of a ring. In the assembled state of the connector part 1, the locking element 13 extends once around the plug body 11. The locking element 13 is self-contained.

[0040] Furthermore, it is evident that the locking element 13 describes a cone. The locking element 13 has a plurality of slots 134, which are alternately formed from one side and the opposite side. This results in a meandering shape for the locking element 13, which runs from a first axial stop 130 located radially further out (further from the central thread axis) to a second axial stop 131 located radially further in (closer to the central thread axis), and then back outwards to a first axial stop 130. The first axial stops 130 are positioned further forward along the insertion direction E than the second axial stops 131.

[0041] The locking component 13 can also be referred to as a locking basket.

[0042] The first axial stops 130 abut a stop surface 101 of the screw sleeve 10. The stop surface 101 of the screw sleeve 10 is annular. In this example, the stop surface 101 of the screw sleeve 10 is formed by a collar 104. The collar 104 connects to the flange 102. The collar 104 is located on the side of the flange 102 opposite the side of the flange 102 on which the thread 100 is located. The collar 104 forms an annular pocket in which the stop surface 101 is formed. The first axial stops 130 each rest flat against the stop surface 101 within the pocket. An axially directed pressure on the locking element 13, contrary to the insertion direction E, forces the first axial stops 130 obliquely outwards into the pocket due to their conical shape, thus ensuring a secure fit.

[0043] On the other side, the second axial stops 131 engage in a pocket formed radially inward in the plug body 11. They bear against a stop surface 112 of the plug body 11. The stop surface 112 of the plug body 11 is annular. The stop surface 112 of the plug body 11 has a smaller diameter than the stop surface 101 of the screw sleeve 10. The stop surface 112 of the plug body 11 and the stop surface 101 of the screw sleeve 10 are offset from each other along the insertion direction E.

[0044] The locking element 13 is supported on the stop surfaces 101 and 112 in opposite directions. Along an axis parallel to the insertion direction E, the locking element 13 extends from the first axial stops 130 to the second axial stops 131, with the first axial stops 130 bearing against the stop surface 101 of the screw sleeve 10 and the second axial stops 131 bearing against the stop surface 112 of the plug body 11.

[0045] The locking element 13 is elastically bendable. In this case, the locking element 13 is spring-elastically deformable. The locking element 13 is metallic, for example made of spring steel, but could also be made of a plastic. Due to its (at least partial) construction from a metal or metal alloy or another electrically conductive material, the locking element 13 can contribute to the electromagnetic shielding of the contact elements 12.

[0046] Due to its meandering shape, the locking element 13 can be expanded to a larger diameter and can then spring back into its original shape. This simplifies manufacturing, which will be explained in more detail below.

[0047] As particularly evident Fig. As can be seen in Figure 3, the plug-in body 11 has a meandering contour. This contour is wave-shaped. This contour runs once around the central thread axis. It connects to the cylindrical section 113. In this case, this contour forms the stop surface of the plug-in body 11. In the example shown, this contour forms a toothed section 111.

[0048] The meandering shape of the locking element 13 engages in the teeth 111 of the plug body 11. In this configuration, the second axial stops 131 each engage positively in a recess of the teeth 111. These sections of the locking element 13 therefore serve as positive locking sections 133. In this way, the locking element 13 is not only supported axially (parallel to the thread axis) against the stop surface 112, but is also positively secured against rotation relative to the plug body 11 about the central thread axis. The plug body 10 is thus rotationally locked in engagement with the locking element 13 via the teeth 111.

[0049] Furthermore, the locking element 13 is also rotationally fixed to the screw sleeve 10. For this purpose, the locking element has at least one positive-locking section which engages with a positive-locking section of the screw sleeve 10. In this case, the locking element 13 is provided to have several, namely two, projections 132, each of which engages in a receptacle of the screw sleeve 10. The receptacles are formed in the form of openings 105 in the rim 104 (see, e.g., [reference]). Fig. 2), although other configurations are also conceivable.

[0050] The projections 132 are formed on opposite sides of the locking element 13. The sectional view according to Fig. Figure 1C shows the two projections 132 in the openings 105. The projections 132 point radially outwards. The projections 132 run parallel to each other on opposite sides of the locking element 13.

[0051] The locking element 13 provides anti-rotation and anti-withdrawal protection for the screw sleeve 10 relative to the plug body 11. The locking element 13 prevents these two parts from unintentionally separating and also acts as a vibration barrier.

[0052] The locking element 13 is formed in one piece. The screw sleeve 10 is also formed in one piece.

[0053] Fig. 4A-4C show the aforementioned other connector part 2 for connection to the one in the Fig. Connector part 1A-1C shown. 1. As the connector part according to Fig. 1A-1C comprises the other connector part 2 a screw sleeve 20 with a thread 200, a plug body 21 which can be plugged into the connector part 2 along the plugging direction E, on which at least one contact element 22 (here several contact elements 22) is (are) fixed for electrically contacting a (respective) contact element 12 of the connector part 1, wherein the plug body 21 is at least partially arranged inside the screw sleeve 20, and a locking element 23 which is arranged between the screw sleeve 20 and the plug body 21 and by means of which the screw sleeve 20 is held on the plug body 21.

[0054] The thread 200 of the screw sleeve 20 of this other connector part 2 is designed as an internal thread and is compatible with the thread 100 of the connector part 1. The other connector part 2 is also a connector part in itself and is referred to here only as "other connector part 2" for the sake of simplicity. Likewise, this other connector part 2 could be referred to as a connector part, and the connector part 1 could be referred to as... Fig. 1A-1C could be described as another connector part.

[0055] The construction of the other connector part 2 is analogous to that of connector part 1 with regard to the fixing of the screw sleeve 20 to the plug body 21, so reference is made to the above descriptions to avoid repetition. The screw sleeve 20 has, in particular, a corresponding stop surface 201, as well as a collar 203 with through-holes 204. The plug body 21 has, in particular, a corresponding stop surface 212 with a toothed section 211. The locking element 23 has, in particular, corresponding first and second axial stops 230, 231, as well as radial projections 232, positive locking sections 233, and slots 234 of the meandering profile, see, for example, the following. Fig. 6. The other connector part 2 also comprises a terminal body 24 to which a cable can be electrically connected with the contact elements 22. The knurled 202 of the other connector part 2 has a greater axial length than the knurled 102 of the screw sleeve 10 of the connector part 1, although this is only an example.

[0056] Fig. Figure 5 shows the screw sleeve 20 of the other connector part 2, analogous to Fig. 2 the mounting of the locking element 23 in the screw sleeve 20 is shown, by which the locking element 23 is positively locked against axial displacement and against rotation relative to the screw sleeve 20.

[0057] Fig. Figure 6 illustrates the locking element 23 separately. The locking element 13 of the connector part 1 according to Fig. 1A-1C is designed analogously, optionally as an identical part.

[0058] Based on the Fig. 7 now describes a method for manufacturing a connector part, in particular connector part 1, according to Fig. 1A-1C or the other connector part 2 according to Fig. 4A-4C, will be described.

[0059] The process comprises the following two steps.

[0060] Step 1: Mounting a locking element 13, 23 on a plug body 11, 21 which can be plugged into another connector part 1, 2 along a plugging direction E and on which at least one contact element 12, 22 is fixed for electrically contacting a contact element 12, 22 of the other connector part 1, 2.

[0061] Fig. Figure 7 illustrates, using the other connector part 2 as an example, that the locking element 23 has already been attached to the screw sleeve 20. For this purpose, the locking element 23 (with its conically tapered side facing forward) was placed against the collar 203 and pressed into the opening of the collar 203. The elastic compressibility of the locking element 23, resulting from its wave-like, ring-shaped profile combined with its conical form, allows for particularly easy insertion. As soon as the first axial stops 230 reach the recess of the collar 203, the locking element 23 expands spring-like into the recess. This causes the locking element 23 to engage with the screw sleeve 20.

[0062] Step 2: Place the screw sleeve 10, 20 onto the plug body 11, 21 with the locking element 13, 23 positioned between them, so that the locking element 13, 23 mounted on one side of the screw sleeve 10, 20 and the plug body 11, 21 engages on the other side of the screw sleeve 20 and the plug body 21 to hold the screw sleeve 10, 20 on the plug body 11, 21.

[0063] If the screw sleeve 20 is now inserted starting from the one in Fig. In the position shown in Figure 7, the locking element 23 is pushed further onto the plug body 21. Then, the locking element 23 slides over a radial projection of the plug body 21, to which the (annular) pocket forming the stop surface 212 is attached. As soon as the second axial stops 231 reach the pocket, they snap into place, so that the locking element 23 also engages with the plug body 21. While the locking element 23 slides over the radial projection, its radially inner areas are elastically expanded radially outwards. The screw sleeve 20 has an (annular) clearance that allows this deformation. When the locking element 231 is attached, the second axial stops 231 are spread into this clearance. In the fully assembled state (see, for example, Figure 7), the locking element 231 is then pushed into the plug body 21. Fig. 4C) Connector part 2 has an annular and wedge-shaped interior space between the screw sleeve 20 and the locking element 23. This also applies to connector part 1 according to Fig. 1A-1C, see e.g. Fig. 1C.

[0064] After step 2, the locking element 13, 23 is locked into both the screw sleeve 10, 20 and the plug body 11, 21.

[0065] Due to the simple assembly process, this is not only possible manually, but can also be automated. For this purpose, step 1 and / or step 2 are performed with one (the same or separate) machine, e.g., a robot.

[0066] A set for manufacturing a connector part 1, 2 therefore comprises a screw sleeve 10, 20 with a thread 100, 200, a plug body 11, 21 which can be plugged together with another connector part 1, 2 along a plugging direction E and which has one or more contact elements 12, 22 each for electrically contacting a contact element 12, 22 of the other connector part 1, 2, and a locking element 13, 23. It is provided that the screw sleeve 10, 20 can be plugged onto the plug body 11, 21 with the locking element 13, 23 positioned (in particular radially) between it and the plug body 11, 21, such that the locking element 13, 23 mounted on one side of the screw sleeve 10, 20 and the plug body 11, 21 is elastically locked to the other side of the screw sleeve 20 and the plug body 21, so that the screw sleeve 10, 20 is held on the plug body 11, 21, in particular rotationally fixed to the screw sleeve 10, 20 and to the plug body 11, 21.

[0067] Fig. Figures 8A-8C show a connector system 3 which includes connector 1 according to Fig. 1A-1C and the other connector 2 according to Fig. 4A-4C is included. Connector 1 and the other connector 2 are shown in an electrically connected state, forming a plug connection. Thread 200 is screwed onto thread 100. The contact elements 12, 22 of the two connectors 1, 2 are in electrically conductive contact with each other.

[0068] In this position, the two locking elements 13, 23 are aligned coaxially with each other. Furthermore, in this position, the two locking elements 13, 23 are oriented with their conically tapered sides towards each other.

[0069] Fig. Figure 8C further illustrates with dashed lines that each of the connector parts 1, 2 can have an electrically conductive shield 15, 25. The respective shield 15, 25 surrounds, for example, a part of the respective connector part 1, 2. The respective shield 15, 25 is, for example, connected or connectable to a shield of the corresponding cable.

[0070] Using the example of connector part 1 (in Fig. (8C shown on the left) the shielding 15 extends into the receiving area of the connector body 11 for the fuse element 13. The shielding 15 is arranged such that it is in electrically conductive contact with the fuse element 13 mounted on the connector part 1. In this case, the shielding 15 specifically extends into the pocket on the connector body 11, which forms the stop surface 112.

[0071] The screw sleeve 10 contacts the locking element 13. Optionally, the locking element 13 is elastically pre-tensioned between the screw sleeve 10 and the connector body 11. If the shielding 15 is provided, this can improve the electrical contact between the locking element 13 and the electrically conductive screw sleeve 10. The screw sleeve 15 is in contact with the screw sleeve 20 of the other connector part 2 via the threads 100, 200. This screw sleeve 20 is in turn electrically connected to the corresponding shielding 25 via the locking element 23 there (and this in turn to the shielding of the cable connected there). Thus, a transmitting shield is provided.A significant advantage here is that the more tightly the connector parts 1, 2 are screwed together, the more strongly the locking parts 13, 23 (which can also be referred to as locking baskets) are pressed against their respective contact surfaces, thus improving the quality of the shield transmission, i.e., reducing the contact resistance.
