[0002] Shoring systems are used to secure trenches and excavations, as unshored trenches and excavations pose a potential hazard to workers. Shoring boxes are used for trench depths of up to approximately 4 to 6 meters, while for deeper trenches or excavations, a sliding rail shoring system is employed. With sliding rail shoring, each individual component is pushed into or pulled out of the trench or excavation separately and parallel to the other components. In contrast, a shoring box is pushed into or lowered into the trench or excavation as a single unit and then pulled out again. This means that the shoring boxes must be assembled before being pushed in or lowered.
