Deleting subblocks in storage devices using segmented source disks

Abstract

An exemplary storage device comprises a storage array and a processing device functionally coupled to the storage array. The processing device is configured to: receive an erase command, thereby identifying a subblock of a block of the storage array; cause a first voltage level to be applied to a source disk segment associated with the subblock, thereby selecting the subblock to be erased; cause a second voltage level to be applied to a plurality of source disk segments associated with remaining subblocks of the block, the first voltage level exceeding the second voltage level by at least one predefined value; and cause a ground voltage level to be applied to one or more data word lines of the subblock.
