High-wattage Power-over-Ethernet lighting devices

Abstract

The techniques described herein relate to methods and devices for a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) light fixture for media applications. The PoE light fixture comprises a light fixture, which requires a minimum power rating of 30 watts for proper operation. The PoE light fixture includes a processor configured to control the light fixture. The PoE light fixture includes a connector electrically connected to the processor, the connector configured to accept an Ethernet cable that enables communication with a router. The router provides, via the Ethernet cable, both power for the operation of the PoE light fixture at the specified wattage and data communication for the PoE light fixture, enabling the processor to send and receive data communication according to the DMX (Digital Multiplex) protocol, thus allowing the light fixture to be remotely controlled by the user.
