Composting toilet with a leak protection device

Abstract

Separate toilet (1) with additional protection against contamination in the event of an accident, or in an inclined position or an overhead situation, characterized in that by using an additional cover (9) for the solids container (6), when the separating attachment (4) is closed, the cover (9) is pressed firmly onto the underlying solids container (6), and the solids are thereby safely retained.

Description

[0001] The invention relates to special features of a composting toilet for mobile use, for vehicles on land, on water, and also aircraft. It is designed to prevent contamination caused by leakage during extreme changes in position, such as tilting, overhead situations, capsizing, etc.

[0002] Because composting toilets are installed in a wide variety of vehicles and aircraft, there's a risk of an overhead situation occurring during use in an off-road vehicle or boat. This can occur due to tipping over in vehicles, or capsizing in boats. To ensure that a composting toilet is prepared for such situations, certain features must be met. It's also possible for the toilet to tip over for some other reason during transport; even then, there's a risk of contamination from leakage, which these measures prevent.

[0003] The invention is based on the fact that in the event of an accident, contamination by the toilet is prevented and the toilet can be used again immediately and cleanly without great effort.

[0004] To this end, the toilet is secured when not in use in such a way that solids and liquids cannot leak out.

[0005] Composting toilets typically consist of a housing with a separating attachment that separates liquids from solids. The solids are collected in a separate container, with or without agitator. The liquids are collected in a canister underneath in compact models, or in permanently installed toilets in vehicles or aircraft, they are disposed of in an additional tank.

[0006] To prevent solids from causing contamination in the event of an overhead situation, a cover plate is placed between the solids container and the separating attachment, which is pressed firmly onto the upper edge of the container by the separating attachment to prevent solids from escaping.

[0007] To ensure the solids container remains in position, it is securely anchored to the housing. This is preferably done at several points. In the example shown, the container preferably has hooks that are attached to a bearing point on the housing.

[0008] To ensure that the separator attachment is secured in this situation and the intermediate plate remains in place, locks are attached to the lid and the housing.

[0009] In order for the lid to withstand the stresses that occur in the event of an accident, the hinges must be particularly sturdy.

Claims

[1] Separate toilet (1), with additional protection against contamination in the event of an accident, or in an inclined position or an overhead situation characterized by that by using an additional cover (9) for the solids container (6), when the separating attachment (4) is closed, the cover (9) is pressed firmly onto the underlying solids container (6), thereby safely retaining the solids. [2] Separate toilet (1) according to claim 1, characterized by that the toilet lid (3), with the hinges (17) on the front, is additionally equipped with locking parts (14) and the housing is additionally equipped with locking parts (15) so that after the locking parts, preferably snap locks, are closed, the separating attachment (4) is secured in its position. [3] Separate toilet (1) according to claim 1, characterized bythat the canister (10) is additionally equipped with a sealing element (12) which is also pressed firmly onto the opening of the canister (10) by the separating attachment (4) in order to fix it in its position in a positionally secure and leak-proof manner. [4] Separate toilet (1), characterized by that the solids container (6) has fastening elements (7) which are securely connected to bearing points (8) on the housing (1) and are designed in such a way that the solids container (6) is securely held with the cover (9) closed.
