Abstract

The silicone-coated stainless steel corrugated hose with one or more braids is characterized by the fact that the corrugated tube and braid are fully shielded from environmental influences of all kinds by the smooth, seamless extruded silicone layer under an air cushion that forms between the braid and the corrugated tube (covered by the silicone layer).

Description

[0001] Standard stainless steel corrugated hoses consist of one (or more) stainless steel wire braids as pressure carriers, a stainless steel corrugated tube, and the associated (welded) connections of various designs. The connections are generally welded using the TIG process, creating a strong and durable bond between the components.

[0002] The stated protection requirements are based on the problem that, under demanding operating conditions, (abrasive) dirt particles can penetrate between the braid and the stainless steel corrugated pipe. The resulting friction leads to chafing of the stainless steel corrugated pipe and thus to a significantly reduced service life of the ready-to-install hose assembly. Therefore, the braid and stainless steel corrugated pipe must be protected from penetrating particles. This protection is achieved by seamlessly extruding an additional layer of silicone onto the wire braid.

[0003] The invention extends the service life of the hose and prevents premature failure. Furthermore, the enclosed air cushion provides positive insulation, making it very suitable for temperature control applications by preventing heat loss.

[0004] Furthermore, the hose can be used to prevent burn hazards in hot environments and can be part of the occupational safety concept.

[0005] Depending on the requirements, the silicone layer thickness (usually between 1.5 and 4 mm) or the color of the silicone can be varied. The operating temperature ranges from -60°C to 220°C (briefly up to 650°C).

[0006] The silicone-coated stainless steel corrugated hose is suitable for high-pressure applications and is resistant to acids, solvents and UV radiation.

[0007] The silicone coating does not compromise the flexibility of the hose and is easy to clean (non-stick).

[0008] The structure of the invention will be explained using the Fig. 1 explained.

[0009] Fig. 1 explains the construction of the stainless steel corrugated hose including the extruded silicone cover.

[0010] Here, the corrugated tube is identified by number (1), the braid by number (2), and the extruded silicone sheath by number (3).

[0011] Corrugated tubing and braiding are usually made of stainless steel (AISI 316 L or 1.4404 and AISI 304 or 1.4301) or other high-quality steels.

[0012] Fig.Figure 2 shows the welded, silicone-coated stainless steel corrugated hose. Number (4) represents a sleeve specially designed for this hose, which is pressed onto the hose after welding to prevent the ingress of abrasive particles in the connection area. Number (5) is the welded hose connector on the corrugated hose, the shape of which can vary. Reference symbol list 1 corrugated tube (here spirally corrugated, but parallel corrugated is also possible) 2 braids (one braid shown here, but multiple braids are possible) 3 silicone coat 4 sleeves for welding and pressing on 5 Welded hose connection (shown here as an example with union nut)

Claims

[1] The silicone-coated stainless steel corrugated hose with one or more braids is characterized by that the corrugated pipe and braid are fully shielded from all types of environmental influences by the smooth, seamless extruded silicone layer under an air cushion that is created between the braid and the corrugated pipe (covered by the silicone layer). [2] The prefabricated, ready-to-install silicone-coated stainless steel corrugated hose is characterized by the use of a special, partially pressed sleeve that keeps environmental influences away from the integration area.
