Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a retrofittable component for thermal decoupling in the intake tract of air-cooled internal combustion engines of two-wheelers, in particular mopeds whose cylinders and intake manifolds, due to their design, heat the bolted-on carburetor. The retrofittable heat shield is particularly suitable for retrofitting mopeds from the former GDR, for example, the mopeds known as the Simson S51 or Simson Schwalbe.
[0002] On air-cooled two-wheelers, especially vintage mopeds like the Simson S51 or Simson Schwalbe, the heat generated by the engine can be transferred to the carburetor via the intake manifold. This can lead to fuel vapor bubbles, rough idling, difficult starting, and a loss of power.
[0003] The state of the art provides various measures to improve carburetor function, such as insulating flanges or spacers. However, these are often not functionally sufficient in historic vehicles, especially in engines with increased power.
[0004] The invention is based on the object of providing a component for thermal decoupling between the intake manifold and the carburettor, which - is easy to assemble, - remains compatible with the original parts, - reduces heat transfer, - is visually inconspicuous and technically efficient.
[0005] This goal is achieved by means of a heat shield that can be retrofitted or mounted on the two-wheeler and which has the task of thermally decoupling between the cylinder and the carburetor.
[0006] Based on the idea of providing a component for thermal decoupling, the object of the invention is also to use the interface and screw point existing on the moped between the intake flange and the carburettor flange.

[0009] The heat shield (1) is bolted between the intake manifold and the carburetor using a sandwich construction, along with the standard flange gaskets. A second flange gasket is used in combination with the additional component, ensuring that flange gaskets are present on both sides of the installed heat shield. It is attached using the existing screw connections; additional brackets are not necessary. Two mounting holes (2) are provided on the heat shield for this purpose. Between the mounting holes (2) is a central through-hole (3) with a diameter matching the carburetor type.

Claims
[1] Heat shield for thermal decoupling of a carburettor from an intake manifold with cylinder of an air-cooled two-wheel combustion engine characterized by that the heat shield has two mounting holes with a diameter between 5.5mm and 8.0mm, - the holes are arranged at a distance of 36mm to 44mm from each other, - there is a central through hole with a diameter between 14mm and 22mm between the mounting holes. [2] Heat shield according to claim 1, characterized by that the heat shield is mounted between the carburettor flange and the intake manifold using the sandwich principle together with two gaskets.
