AI Technical Summary
Existing height-adjustable tables restrict design freedom due to the requirement of large or wide feet for table legs with a telescopic function and linear drive, limiting the use of natural materials like wood.
A height-adjustable table frame mechanism that uses two identical, offsettable table legs with primary and secondary thighs, where the secondary thighs merge to form a train spring element that neutralizes the weight of the table top, allowing for synchronized movement and adjustable height.
This mechanism enables rapid and flexible height adjustments, offers more design freedom, and can be economically and ecologically produced in various materials, including wood, while maintaining stability and aesthetics.

Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention was developed in the field of furniture design and manufacturing. The height adjustment of the present invention is based on the variable angle in the geometry of the table frame.
[0002] Height-adjustable tables are already available today for a variety of purposes. By adjusting the height of the tabletop, different requirements can be met, such as using it as a dining table or a bar table. Furthermore, adjusting the height is particularly useful when used as a workstation, meeting ergonomic requirements due to different body sizes.
[0003] Existing height-adjustable workstations and tables, which are discussed together here, often utilize telescopic table legs with a linear drive. This design requires a relatively large or wide base to position the legs centrally or even centrally on two sides, thus reducing the number of drive elements. As a result, design freedom is severely limited. It is also not yet common to manufacture a height-adjustable table frame from natural materials such as wood.
[0004] The utility model application DE202024000648U1 also addresses this topic, but the mechanism differs fundamentally from the present invention. This design also offers additional advantages compared to the cited invention, such as the fixed position of the table's positions, which is not the case with scissor-type lifting tables.
[0005] The utility models DE202006013998U1 and DE202004006124U1 also utilize the geometry used in the present invention, but with the difference that in these cases the table legs are not offset and cannot interlock, but meet in the middle. However, the offset arrangement results in a larger range of adjustability, more flexibility in selecting the table length, and a different appearance in the lower positions, which is considered advantageous in the field of the invention. Furthermore, the table legs of the present invention can be longer compared to the previously mentioned patents with the same table dimensions, resulting in a favorable angle for actuating the lifting mechanism. Furthermore, the tension spring used in the present invention to neutralize the weight of the table top is considered advantageous, which is not mentioned in the cited inventions. Object of the invention
[0006] This invention relates to a height-adjustment mechanism for a table, or rather a table frame, that functions differently than other prior art table frames. This design greatly simplifies the raising and lowering of the tabletop and allows for a faster and more flexible height adjustment process than other designs. Furthermore, the present invention offers greater design freedom, as the mechanism can be implemented in a variety of materials in an economically and ecologically sensible manner. For example, a highly aesthetic and stable table frame made of wood is possible, which is advantageous from both a design and an ecological perspective. Description of the invention
[0007] The height-adjustable table has a table top 1, which is supported by two identical, opposite and slightly offset table legs, which are movable within themselves.
[0008] Each table leg consists of a primary leg 2, which has an upper and lower end and a middle, and two secondary legs 3, which also have an upper and lower end. The lower end of the primary leg 2 is intended for support on the floor and splits into two diverging ends for greater stability, while the upper end is mounted below the table top 1 so that it can be moved horizontally in the longitudinal direction of the table top 1. The lower ends of the two secondary legs 3 are mounted in the middle of the primary leg 2 so that the upper ends point towards the table top 1 and are articulated there at a fixed point. A design in which the two secondary legs 3 merge into one unit is also considered. An element 4 is mounted between the upper ends of the secondary legs 3 and the upper end of the primary leg 2. This element can transmit tensile forces so that the upper ends of the primary legs 2 and the secondary legs 3 are pulled towards each other and the table leg as a unit exerts a force in the direction of the table top 1, which reduces or eliminates the dead weight of the table top 1. The latter is possible if the horizontal force acting from the primary leg 2 only needs to be absorbed in the area where it is approximately linear, since it can be assumed that element 4, which neutralizes the horizontal force, also has a linear force curve. In order to keep the table top 1 in a horizontal position, the movement of the two units, each of which forms a table leg, is synchronized. This is done by a rope 5 running over two pulleys 6, to which the upper end of the respective primary leg 2 is attached.
[0009] Furthermore, in a special design, the two primary legs can be locked in the rail 7 by another component to keep the tabletop stable. This component can be a simple pin or a comb-like component 8 that is rotatably mounted between the two guides of the primary legs and engages the guides of the primary legs when rotated, thus locking them. In another, special design, the circumferential cable 5 serves as a locking device, which can be fixed and released at various points using a suitable braking mechanism.
