Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a brush for use with a rotating tool according to the type defined in the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] A brush of this type is known from DE 20 2019 104 172 U1. It has an annular connecting element that connects the outer cup and the inner cup, which, together with a retaining element arranged therebetween, serve to hold the brush braids. A special design of a receiving element connected to the brush braids by means of the connecting element makes it possible to attach this brush to certain tools.
[0003] From EP 3 932 253 A1 a brush is known which is intended for connection to a brush cutter and which has a special design of the inner pot and the outer pot in order to ensure a secure attachment of the brush cutter to the brush cutter.
[0004] The problem with both brushes, however, is that they can only be attached to certain tools. Due to the variety of tools from different manufacturers, the brushes cannot be used for every tool.
[0005] In principle, it would be possible to equip the brush with adapters for different tools. However, this would require extensive and therefore costly inventory. Furthermore, the use of these adapters poses a risk of misuse by the customer, resulting in injury.
[0006] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a brush for use with a rotating tool which can be used with a wide variety of tools and ensures a secure connection with the respective tool.
[0007] According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features mentioned in claim 1.
[0008] The brush according to the invention for use with a rotating tool comprises a holding device for holding a brush attachment and a connecting device for connecting the holding device to a connecting element connectable to the rotating tool. For example, this can be a connecting element associated with the rotating tool, such as a threaded spindle, the design of which is beyond the control of the brush manufacturer. This connecting element engages in a bore belonging to the connecting device of the brush when the brush is mounted on the tool.
[0009] The connecting device has a recess with a diameter of 25.35 - 26 mm on the side facing the rotating tool during intended use of the brush. This recess is followed by a cone with an opening angle of 95 - 105°.
[0010] The recess, with a diameter of 25.35 - 26 mm, serves to center the brush's connecting device, and thus the entire brush, on a corresponding diameter of the connecting element associated with the rotating tool. The same applies to the cone with an opening angle of 95 - 105°, which can be centered on a corresponding cone of the connecting element. In this way, the brush can be easily centered on different connecting elements of different tools, so that the brush according to the invention can be mounted on different tools with very little effort and used for the desired processing.
[0011] With regard to centering the brush on the rotating tool, it has proven particularly advantageous if the recess has a diameter of 25.4 - 25.6 mm.
[0012] Depending on the rotating tool to which the brush is to be attached, it can be very advantageous if the cone has an opening angle of 99 - 101°.
[0013] In another particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the bore for engaging the connecting element can have a diameter of 12.05 - 12.4 mm, preferably 12.1 - 12.3 mm. This diameter ensures that, on the one hand, larger threaded spindles with a diameter of up to M12 can be passed through the bore, and, on the other hand, that the nuts of smaller threaded spindles of up to M8 can rest against the edge of the bore, i.e., on the side facing away from the rotating tool when the brush is used as intended.
[0014] In order to be able to accommodate the connecting element assigned to the rotating tool as far as possible in the recess and to prevent the connecting device and thus the entire brush from being too high, it can further be provided that the recess has a depth of 0.8 - 2 mm, preferably 1 - 1.5 mm.
[0015] A further advantageous embodiment of the invention can consist in providing a recess between the bore for engagement of the connecting element and the cone, which recess has a larger diameter than the bore for engagement of the connecting element. This ensures that the entire connecting element is accommodated in the connecting device of the brush, even with a connecting element with a larger cone.
[0016] Furthermore, it can be provided that the connecting device has a first circumferential collar on its side facing the rotating tool when the brush is used as intended.
[0017] In this context, it can also be provided that the connecting device has a second circumferential collar on its side facing away from the rotating tool when the brush is used as intended.
[0018] This advantageously allows an outer cap, an inner cap and a holding element arranged between the outer cap and the inner cap for holding the brush trim to be arranged between the first collar and the second collar of the connecting device.
[0019] A further advantageous embodiment of the invention can consist in a circumferential groove adjoining the second circumferential collar in the direction of the bore. Such a groove makes it possible to very easily create a flat surface by flanging, against which a nut to be connected to the threaded spindle can rest.
[0020] An embodiment of the invention is shown in principle below with reference to the drawing.
[0021] It shows: Fig. 1 a side view of a brush according to the invention; Fig. 2 a perspective view of the brush from Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 a sectional view of the brush according to the invention Fig. 1 and Fig. 2.
[0022] The Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 show a brush 1 for use with a rotating tool (not shown). The rotating tool is preferably a battery-operated brush cutter. In a conventional manner, the brush 1 has a plurality of brush braids forming a brush assembly 2. In the illustrated embodiment, the brush braids are made of metal, but a brush assembly 2 made of plastic is also possible.
[0023] In the cut of Fig. 3 shows that the brush trim 2 is held by a holding device 3. The holding device 3 has an outer cap 4, an inner cap 5, and a holding element 6 arranged between the outer cap 4 and the inner cap 5, to which the brush trim 2 is attached in a manner known per se but not shown. The holding element 6 can, for example, be a perforated disc, in whose holes the brush trim 2 is received. However, other embodiments of the holding element 6 are also conceivable, particularly when the brush trim 2 is made of plastic.
[0024] The brush 1 further comprises a connecting device 7 which is used to connect the holding device 3 to a connecting element 7 which can be connected to the rotating tool and Fig.3 serves as a connecting element 8, indicated only by a dashed line. The connecting element 8 is part of the rotating tool and can also be firmly connected to it. The brush 1 therefore comprises the brush attachment 2, the holding device 3, and the connecting device 7 as its essential components.
[0025] The connecting device 7 has a first circumferential collar 9 on its side facing the rotating tool when the brush 1 is used as intended. This collar forms an end face 7a of the connecting device 7 on its side facing away from the outer cap 4. On its side facing away from the rotating tool when the brush 1 is used as intended, the connecting device 7 has a second circumferential collar 10, which forms a flat surface 7b of the connecting device 7 on its side facing away from the inner cap 5. The outer cap 4, the inner cap 5 and the holding element 6 arranged between the outer cap 4 and the inner cap 5 are arranged between the first collar 9 and the second collar 10 of the connecting device 7, thereby ensuring a secure hold of these components forming the holding device 3.
[0026] The connecting device 7 therefore establishes, on the one hand, the connection with the brush trim 2 and, on the other hand, as described in detail below, the connection with the connecting element 8, which is to be connected to the rotating tool or can form a part thereof.
[0027] The connecting device 7 has, on its side facing the rotating tool when the brush 1 is used as intended, a circular recess 11 which extends into the end face 7a. A cone 12 adjoins the recess 11 in the direction of the side facing away from the rotating tool when the brush is used as intended. A recess 13 is in turn adjoined to the cone 12, which prevents any interfering contours from occurring for the connecting element 8. Finally, the connecting device 7 also has a bore 14 which, like the recess 11, the cone 12 and the recess 13, serves for the engagement of the connecting element 8. The connecting element 8 rests against the base or flat surface of the circular recess 11. The bore 14 emerges from the connecting device 7 at the flat surface 7b.
[0028] The recess 11 has a diameter of 25.35 - 26 mm, preferably 25.4 - 25.6 mm. This ensures centering of the brush 1 on the connecting element 8 associated with the rotating tool. The recess 11 has a depth of 0.8 - 2 mm, preferably 1 - 1.5 mm.
[0029] The cone 12 has an opening angle of 95 to 105°, preferably 99 to 101°. This opening angle of the cone 12 is also suitable for receiving the connecting element 8. Depending on the design of the connecting element 8, the connecting element 8 can rest against the recess 11 or against the cone 12, or even against both.
[0030] The recess 13 between the cone 12 and the bore 14 has a larger diameter than the bore 14. In this case, the diameter of the recess 13 is 15.5 mm.
[0031] The bore 14, through which the connecting element 8 passes, has a diameter of 12.05 - 12.4 mm, preferably 12.1 - 12.3 mm. This makes it possible to guide threaded spindles or mounting shafts with a size of up to M12 through the bore 14. On the other hand, due to this diameter of the bore 14, M8 nuts, for example, still rest with their collar on the side of the connecting device 7 facing away from the rotating tool, i.e., on the flat surface 7b. The flat surface 7b therefore forms a support for the nut (not shown) of the connecting element 8.
[0032] Adjoining the second circumferential collar 10 on the side of the connecting device 7 facing away from the rotating tool is a circumferential groove 15 in the direction of the bore 14. This circumferential groove 15 makes it easier to form the second circumferential collar 10, thus allowing the flat surface 7b to be formed. In particular, this ensures that the portion of the flat surface 7b lying outside the groove 15 and formed by flanging the second circumferential collar 10 is at the same height as the portion of the flat surface 7b lying inside the groove 15. The flat surface 7b is therefore created by forming or flanging the collar 10, which runs in the axial direction of the brush 1 after machining. By forming the collar 10, the components outer cap 4, holding element 6 and inner cap 5, which were previously threaded onto the connecting device 7, can be clamped. In principle, it is also possible to manufacture the connecting device 7 by extrusion.
[0033] Since electrically powered, and especially battery-powered, tools typically have lower power than gasoline-powered tools, the brush 1 is designed to be very compact, which is supported by the small diameter of the connecting device 7. The outer cap 4 and the inner cap 5 also have a comparatively small diameter. Due to this small size, the brush 1 also has a lower mass.
[0034] Furthermore, the height of the connecting device 7 is selected to be as low as possible in order to reduce its mass and to ensure sufficient penetration through the connecting element of the tool.
[0035] Brush 1 also has a comparatively high number of brush braids, which has a positive effect on the energy consumption of the rotating tool caused by the brush 1, as the brush 1 thus catches significantly less frequently on the objects or surfaces being treated. In this case, there are 22 brush braids. QUOTES CONTAINED IN THE DESCRIPTION
