Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a mechanical device (3) for the portioned dispensing of powdered or granular substances to animals, in particular for use with substances of different concentrations, which can be operated without electronic components.
[0002] Known devices for dispensing substances to animals are either designed as single-use dosing systems that must be disposed of after use, or as proportional mixing systems for drinking water systems that do not allow for individual, portion-based dispensing. Electronic dosing aids are known, but they are maintenance-intensive, sensitive to moisture, and prone to malfunction in everyday home use.
[0003] A major disadvantage of known systems is that they do not allow mechanical adjustment to different concentrations of the substance used and do not enable storage and sequential provision of multiple predetermined individual portions, as is required, for example, for multiple doses administered throughout the day.
[0004] The invention is based on the objective of providing a purely mechanical device that stores and sequentially provides several defined individual portions of powdered or granular substances, ensures an adjustable and reproducible portioning volume without electronic support, and is permanently reusable.
[0005] This problem is solved by a device according to claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.
[0006] The device (3) comprises a lower part with a reservoir (2) having several adjacent chambers of the same depth. The depth of all chambers—and thus the volume of each individual portion—is uniformly adjusted by a gear (4) that engages with a threaded section of the lower part and defines the distance between the chamber bottom and the upper edge of the reservoir (2). All chambers are thereby always set to the same volume; individual adjustment of individual chambers is not provided for by design.
[0007] A slide (1) is arranged above the reservoir (2) and is movable in a guide in the lower part in discrete increments. The slide (1) has an opening that, in each increment position, is exactly opposite one chamber of the reservoir (2), thus releasing a single portion for dispensing. The increments correspond to the chamber spacing of the reservoir (2), so that exactly one chamber is always open.
[0008] The released portion is dispensed by gravity: The user turns the entire device (3) so that the opening faces downwards, whereupon the contents of the released chamber exit through the opening of the slide (1). The remaining chambers remain closed by the slide (1) and are not affected by the dispensing.
[0009] The correct portion size is the responsibility of the user: The user sets the chamber volume once to the required amount of the respective substance using the gear (4). Since each actuation of the slide (1) releases exactly one chamber, each dispensing corresponds to the set single portion. The device (3) does not contain an active locking mechanism to prevent incorrect portioning.
[0010] The portioning is carried out exclusively mechanically without any electronic component. The device (3) is permanently reusable, easy to clean and designed for home use for portioning substances for pets and small animals.
[0011] Advantages of the invention compared to the prior art are in particular the reproducible portioning accuracy through the chamber principle, the uniform volume setting of all chambers via the gear (4), the multiple retrieval of defined individual portions and the gravity-based dispensing without additional mechanics. Claims
[1] Device (3) for the portioned delivery of a powdered or granular substance to an animal, comprising (a) a lower part with a reservoir (2) comprising a plurality of adjacent chambers of equal depth, (b) a gear (4) which engages with a threaded section of the lower part and uniformly adjusts the depth of all chambers of the reservoir (2), thereby determining the volume of each individual portion, (c) a slide (1) which is displaceable in a guide of the lower part in discrete detent steps and in each detent position releases exactly one chamber of the reservoir (2) for dispensing, wherein the dispensing of the contents of the released chamber is effected by gravity by rotating the device (3) with the opening facing downwards, the remaining chambers remain closed by the slide (1), and the device (3) is operable exclusively mechanically and without electronic components. [2] Device according to claim 1, characterized by , that the slide (1) is secured in its guide against unintentional displacement by a detent mechanism, the detent steps corresponding to the chamber spacing of the reservoir (2). [3] Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by , that the device (3) is designed to receive powdered or granular substances and that the chambers of the reservoir (2) are filled with the substance in powdered or granular form before use. [4] Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by , that the reservoir (2) is designed to hold substances of different concentrations and that the chamber volume set via the gear (4) can be adapted to the respective concentration. [5] Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized bythat the slide (1) and the reservoir (2) are made of a food-grade material and that the device (3) is cleanable for reuse.
