[0003] In the food packaging industry, laminated cardboard or aluminum containers are frequently used for packaging ready meals, dairy products, salads, and sweets. These containers, which are usually tray-shaped, are closed with flat lids. These lids are typically made of materials such as laminated cardboard and are attached to the rim of the container using either a snap-fit or hot-melt adhesive (thermal bonding) process.
[0004] Laminated cardboard lids utilize a hot-melt adhesive process (thermal coating) to firmly bond the flat, laminated cardboard containers to the lid, thus preventing food leakage. Attaching the lids to laminated cardboard containers requires additional equipment, resulting in time losses during the sealing process.
[0005] To securely close the flat container made of laminated cardboard, a nailed protrusion is attached to the aluminum lid. This protrusion extends upwards from the top edge of the aluminum container but, due to the nature of the aluminum, can be bent downwards when force is applied. After placing the flat laminated cardboard lid on the aluminum container, it is pressed down by hand onto this nailed protrusion to secure it firmly and prevent leakage. The force causes this vertical protrusion to bend downwards, assuming a horizontal shape and lying flat against the top of the lid. In this way, the flat laminated cardboard lid is pressed onto the aluminum container by the protrusion and secured.However, if the aforementioned protrusion with the bumps is not properly and correctly bent onto the surface of the lid, the lid may open unintentionally and food may leak. Furthermore, contact between aluminum containers and hot food is undesirable from a food safety perspective.
[0006] The flexible ridges used in current aluminum containers, due to the structure of the aluminum raw material, cannot be applied to food containers made of laminated cardboard. This is because the rigid structure of the paper makes manual bending impossible with laminated cardboard containers. With aluminum containers, the user presses the ridged ridge down onto the lid by hand. However, with laminated cardboard containers, the paper springs back and cannot be shaped by hand, even if the user presses down the ridged ridge as with aluminum containers. Therefore, according to the current state of the art, there is a need for paper-based food containers that can be closed with a flat lid without heat treatment or fixing processes (manual pressing).
[0007] As a result, the aforementioned problems and the inadequacy of current solutions have necessitated further development in this technical field. Purpose of the invention
[0008] The present invention relates to a paper-based container for cardboard lids, which eliminates the aforementioned disadvantages and brings new advantages to the relevant technical field.
[0009] The main purpose of the invention is to develop a paper-based container onto which a flat lid can be placed by means of an inwardly directed, reversed edge bend at the top.
[0010] The purpose of the invention is to use flat lids made of laminated cardboard in paper-based containers without heat treatment and without the necessary equipment, and to attach them to the paper-based container independently by means of a reverse edge bend without any processing.
[0011] Another objective of the invention is to eliminate the need to use laminated cardboard lids in aluminium containers, which are unsuitable for contact with hot food.
[0012] Another objective of the invention is to enable the use of laminated cardboard lids in laminated cardboard containers by eliminating the risk of inadequate sealing in aluminum containers due to the heat required for gluing, so that they can be used in all extruded, coated or pure paper-based containers.
