Abstract
A suture-tension-activated anchoring system for fixing soft tissue to bone, the system comprising: a unitary implantable anchor body defining a longitudinal axis and having a proximal and a distal section; a proximal head unit formed on the proximal part of the anchor body and configured to interact with at least one repair suture; a tubular body unit extending distal to the proximal head unit and defining an internal longitudinal bore; a plurality of radially expandable rib elements arranged on the distal section of the tubular body unit and movable between a folded and an expanded configuration; and an internal cone unit positioned within the internal longitudinal bore and mechanically connected to at least one repair suture.wherein the application of a tensile force to the at least one repair suture causes a proximal axial displacement of the inner conical unit relative to the tubular body unit, wherein the proximal axial displacement of the inner conical unit generates a radial outward movement of the plurality of fin units from the folded to the unfolded configuration, and wherein the radial outward movement of the plurality of fin units anchors the anchor body in the cancellous bone without the need for an external deployment tool.
