Description
[0001] The invention relates to a cash box with a receiving area in which several banknotes can be received as a stack. A counter-pressure unit, which limits the receiving area, is movable between a first position, in which the receiving area has a minimum volume, and a second position, in which the receiving area has a maximum volume, in one direction of deposit and against the other.
[0002] Cash boxes are known from the prior art in which movable counter-pressure units are provided, both in the direction of deposit and against the direction of deposit, to exert a counter-pressure force on the stack of banknotes. These counter-pressure units enable the secure deposit of the banknotes by holding already inserted banknotes in their stacked form, with the stacking direction being vertical or horizontal. For example, document DE 10 2008 018 935 A1 discloses a single-sheet handling device in which the banknotes are stacked horizontally, i.e., standing on one edge. Document EP 2 738 745 A1 discloses a cash box in which the banknotes are stacked vertically, i.e., lying on their front or back.
[0003] When changing cash cassettes or taking inventory, it is necessary to check whether any banknotes remain in a cash cassette. No solutions are currently known that can detect whether a cash cassette is empty using a simple check. For example, checking the position of the counter-pressure unit is usually insufficient for this detection due to the small size of banknotes, as the measurement accuracy is typically not high enough to reliably determine the presence of even a single banknote.
[0004] Document US 2013 / 277382 A1 discloses a cash box with a receiving area limited by a counter-pressure unit. The counter-pressure unit is movable between a first position with a minimum volume of the receiving area and a second position with a maximum volume of the receiving area. A sensor unit with a sensor element detects a first sensor element position when at least one banknote is located between the sensor element and the counter-pressure unit, with its front or back in contact with the sensor element. In this case, the contact with the banknote moves the sensor element downwards against the spring force, i.e., in the direction in which the banknotes are deposited.
[0005] The object of the invention is to provide a cash box for receiving banknotes in a receiving area, whereby a simple check determines whether the cash box is empty. This object is achieved by a cash box with the features of claim 1 or by an arrangement with the features of claim 2, as well as by a method with the features of the independent method claim.
[0006] Advantageous further developments are specified in the dependent claims, whereby the features of the dependent claims can further develop the cash box, the arrangement and the method.
[0007] The cash box, arrangement, or method of each independent claim enables a control unit to determine whether the cash box is empty, based on the sensor signal from the sensor unit and the position of the counter-pressure unit. The sensor signal depends, in particular, on the position of the sensor element of the sensor unit, which can be received in a recess of the counter-pressure unit. The sensor element and the recess are arranged and designed such that the sensor element is received in the recess only when the counter-pressure unit is in the first position and no banknote is located between the sensor element and the recess. This enables a simple and reliable determination and verification of the empty state of the cash box.The sensor signal can be transmitted from the sensor unit to the control unit as a signal level via control lines or encoded in data, in particular with the help of data packets.
[0008] The sensor unit detects the first position of the sensor element when at least one banknote is located between the sensor element and the counter-pressure unit, and its front or back is in contact with the sensor element. The contact with the banknote causes the sensor element to move in the opposite direction to the deposit direction. This ensures that the presence of a banknote is always detected when the counter-pressure unit is in a position where the banknote can contact the sensor element.
[0009] It is particularly advantageous if the control unit detects the "cash cassette empty" state when the counter-pressure unit is in the first position and the sensor element is not in the first sensor element position. Furthermore, it is advantageous if the control unit detects the "cash cassette not empty" state when the counter-pressure unit is in the first position and the sensor element is in the first sensor element position. This enables simple and reliable detection of the "cash cassette empty" and "cash cassette not empty" states.
[0010] According to the invention, several banknotes received in the receiving area form a stack of banknotes. In an operating position of the cash box, the banknotes of the stack can be arranged one above the other in such a way that the bottom banknote rests with its front or back against the counter-pressure unit. This enables secure and reliable depositing of the banknotes.
[0011] The invention comprises a control unit which, upon feeding banknotes into the cash box, activates the counter-pressure unit based on a sensor signal indicating that the sensor element is in the first sensor element position. The counter-pressure unit is moved in the deposit direction until the sensor element is no longer in the first sensor element position and the sensor unit outputs a corresponding sensor signal. This creates a feed gap above the stack of banknotes into which further banknotes can be fed.
[0012] Furthermore, it is advantageous if the sensor unit includes a detection element, wherein the detection element generates the sensor signal indicating whether the sensor element is in the first sensor element position or not and transmits it to the control unit. The detection element preferably includes at least one light barrier. Thus, precise detection of the sensor element position can be achieved using the sensor unit.
[0013] It is particularly advantageous if a feeding and / or singulation unit is provided for feeding and / or removing the banknotes, whereby the banknotes can be fed into or removed from the receiving area individually and sequentially with the aid of the feeding and singulation unit. This allows banknotes to be fed into and removed from the receiving area in a simple manner.
[0014] In an advantageous embodiment, a drive unit is provided for moving the counter-pressure unit, in particular an electric motor such as a DC motor or a stepper motor. This allows for simple operation of the counter-pressure unit. It is particularly advantageous if the control unit determines the first position of the counter-pressure unit, in which the counter-pressure unit rests against a stop, by measuring the motor current of the electric motor or by counting the steps of the stepper motor. This ensures reliable determination of the first position of the counter-pressure unit.
[0015] Furthermore, it is advantageous if the counter-pressure unit is firmly connected to at least one belt, with the belt being driven by the drive unit, so that a simple and cost-effective drive of the counter-pressure unit is possible.
[0016] It is particularly advantageous if the recess of the counter-pressure unit is 5 mm to 7 mm wide, in particular 5.5 mm to 6 mm, and if the sensor element that is received in the recess is 2 mm to 4 mm wide, in particular 2.5 mm to 3 mm.
[0017] Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description, which, in conjunction with the accompanying figures, explains the invention in more detail using exemplary embodiments.

[0019] Figure 1Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a cash box 100 in a horizontal position. The cash box 100 has a housing 120 with a base body 112 comprising a front 110, a top 111, a bottom 114, and two side boundaries 118, 122. The two side boundaries 118, 122 of the base body 112 are each partially covered by a cover plate 124, wherein in Figure 1 Due to the chosen perspective, only one of the two cover plates 124 is visible. The rear of the housing 120 of the cash box 100 is formed by a cover plate 116 connected to the housing 120. Figure 1 Also shown are a handle 128 for transporting the cash box 100, a feed slot 126 for feeding banknotes 10 (not shown), and four wings 131a, 131b, 131c, 131d, which protrude from the housing 120 and are components of four impellers 130a to 130d.
[0020] Figure 2shows a perspective view of the cash box 100 after Figure 1 in a vertical position. Elements with the same structure or function have the same reference symbols. The in Figure 2 The depicted vertical position of the cash box 100 corresponds in the exemplary embodiment to the operating position of the cash box 100, in which the cash box 100 is inserted in a device for handling banknotes 10. Figure 2 A gear 142 is visible, which engages with a drive unit (not shown) located outside the cash box 100 when the cash box 100 has been inserted, for example, into a device for handling banknotes, such as an ATM, an automatic safe, or an automatic cash register system.
[0021] Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the internal structure of the cash box 100 according to the Figure 1 and 2In its first operating state, the cash box 100 comprises a feed unit 300 for feeding banknotes 10 (not shown) and a receiving area 200 in which the banknotes 10 are received. The receiving area 200 is delimited by a counter-pressure unit 210, which is rigidly connected to a belt 212 via a first connecting element 220 and to a belt 214 via a second connecting element 222. The belt 212 is guided over rollers 216a and 216b, which serve as deflection elements, and the belt 214 over rollers 216c and 216d, which also serve as deflection elements.
[0022] Rollers 216b and 216d are on a Figure 3The non-visible drive shaft 221 is fixedly arranged and can be driven by a drive unit 400, wherein a gear stage 402, in particular a reduction gear, is provided for transmitting the drive force of the drive unit 400 to the drive shaft 221. The rollers 216a and 216c are mounted on a non-driven shaft 223, which is in Figure 3 is covered by the counter-pressure unit 210.
[0023] In Figure 3The counter-pressure unit 210 is shown in a first operating state in which it is arranged at a second position indicated by line P1, with the volume of the receiving area 200 being at its maximum in this second position P1. The counter-pressure unit 210 can be moved by means of the drive unit 400 against a storage direction A1 and in the storage direction A1 between line P1 and a line PO. Line PO indicates the position of a mechanical stop element, which in this embodiment coincides with a stop of a limiting element 310. When the counter-pressure unit 210 is arranged at the first position indicated by line PO, the volume of the receiving area 200 is at its minimum.
[0024] A control unit 500 monitors the position of the counter-pressure unit 210 and controls the drive unit 400, which in this embodiment comprises a DC motor. The control unit 500 measures the motor current and detects whether the counter-pressure unit 210 is in the first position, i.e., at line P0, when the drive unit 400 presses the counter-pressure unit 210 against the stop or limiting element 310, causing the motor current to increase. In an alternative embodiment, the drive unit 400 can also comprise a stepper motor instead of the DC motor, with the position of the counter-pressure unit 210 being determined by the control unit 500 by counting the steps of the stepper motor. Alternatively or additionally, another sensor unit can be provided to detect the position of the counter-pressure unit 210.
[0025] In the present embodiment, the feed unit 300 comprises four impellers 130a to 130d, which are arranged non-rotatably on a drive shaft 140 and each has three blades 131a to 133d projecting tangentially from a hub 135a to 135d. The drive shaft 140 is driven to feed banknotes 10 into the receiving area 200 by means of a further drive unit (not shown). The connection between the shaft 140 and the further drive unit is made via the gear 142, which is non-rotatably connected to the shaft 140 and projects from the housing 120 of the cash box 100. A drive roller 136a is non-rotatably connected to the shaft 140 between the impellers 130a and 130b, and a drive roller 136b is non-rotatably connected to the shaft 140 between the impellers 130c and 130d. The two drive rollers 136a and 136b protrude into the feed slot 126, which is limited by the limiting element 310 and a second limiting element 320.Opposite each of the two drive rollers 136a and 136b, a non-driven roller 138a and 138b is arranged, which are in . Figure 3 are covered by the drive rollers 136a and 136b and serve as pressure rollers 138a, 138b.
[0026] When a banknote is fed in, the shaft 140 is rotated, which causes the impellers 131a to 133d and the drive rollers 136a and 136b to rotate. The drive rollers 136a and 136b guide the banknote through the feed slot 126 in a feed direction Z1, pressing the banknote against the rollers 138a and 138b, thus causing them to rotate. After passing through the feed slot 126, at least one impeller 131a to 133d contacts the banknote and pushes it into the receiving area 200 of the cash box 100 in the deposit direction A1.
[0027] As in Figure 3As shown, the cash box 100 comprises a sensor element 610, which in the described embodiment has the form of a skid or a lever. The sensor element 610 is 2 mm to 4 mm, in particular 3 mm, wide and weighs 2 g to 5 g, in particular 3 g. The sensor element 610 can be received in a recess 620 of the counter-pressure unit 210 when the counter-pressure unit 210 is in the first position PO. The recess 620 of the counter-pressure unit 210 is 5 mm to 7 mm, in particular 5.5 mm to 6 mm, wide.
[0028] Figure 4 shows a top view of the internal structure of cash box 100 according to the Figures 1 to 3 The sensor element 610 is pivotably connected to the limiting element 310 by means of a connecting element 614. In the Figure 4In the horizontal position of the cash box 100 shown, the sensor element 610 protrudes into a light barrier arrangement 612. In the vertical operating position of the cash box 100, the sensor element 610 is in the Figure 3 The operating state shown is moved out of the light barrier arrangement 612 by gravity in the storage direction A1.
[0029] The light barrier arrangement 612 comprises an optical transmitter 614 for emitting light and an optical receiver 616 for receiving the light emitted by the transmitter 614. The transmitter 614 and the receiver 616 are arranged such that when the sensor element 610 is positioned between the optical transmitter 614 and the optical receiver 616, the light beam emitted by the transmitter 614 is interrupted. This interruption is detected by the receiver 616, which transmits a corresponding first sensor signal to the control unit 500. The sensor element 610 and the light barrier arrangement 612, which serves as the detection element, together form a sensor unit 600.
[0030] Figure 5 shows a perspective view of part of the internal structure of the cash box according to the Figures 1 to 4, in which the counter-pressure unit 210 with the recess 620 and elements for moving the counter-pressure unit 210 in the receiving area 200, from the first position PO towards the second position P1, i.e. in the depositing direction A1, as well as in the opposite direction, are visible.
[0031] Figure 6 shows a vertical section view according to the Figures 1 to 5along section line II in a second operating state, in which the counter-pressure unit 210 is positioned at the first position PO, so that the receiving area 200 has the smallest volume. For this purpose, the counter-pressure unit 210 has been moved by the drive unit 400 against the deposit direction A1 to line PO. A banknote 10, which is arranged between the counter-pressure unit 210 and the sensor element 610, contacts the sensor element 610 and deflects it against the deposit direction A1 into a first sensor element position, in which the sensor element 610 interrupts the light beam between the transmitter 614 and the receiver 616 of the light barrier arrangement 612. The receiver 616 sends a corresponding first sensor signal to the control unit 500, which detects the state 'cash cassette not empty' from this first sensor signal and the information that the counter-pressure unit is in the first position.
[0032] Figure 7shows a vertical cross-sectional view of the cash box according to the Figures 1 to 6 along section line II in a third operating state, in which the counter-pressure unit 210 operates in the same way as in the Figure 6In the second operating state shown, the counter-pressure unit 210 is positioned at the first position P0, meaning the receiving area 200 has the smallest volume. For this purpose, the counter-pressure unit 210 has been moved by the drive unit 400 against the deposit direction A1 until it reaches the line PO, so that it rests against the stop of the limiting element 310. Unlike the second operating state, there is no banknote between the sensor element 610 and the counter-pressure unit, so that part of the sensor element 610 is received in the recess of the counter-pressure unit 210. This ensures that the light beam between the transmitter 614 and the receiver 616 is not interrupted, allowing the receiver 616 to transmit a corresponding second sensor signal to the control unit 500.From the information that the counter-pressure unit is in the first position and the second sensor signal that the light beam of the light barrier arrangement 612 is not interrupted by the sensor element 610, the control unit 500 determines the state 'cash box empty'.
[0033] Figure 8 shows a vertical section view according to the Figures 1 to 7 along the section line II in a fourth operating state, in which several banknotes 10 are fed into the receiving area 200 of the cash box 100. Figure 9 shows a vertical section view according to the Figures 1 to 8 along section line II in a fifth operating state, in which another note 12 is fed into the cash box 100. In Figure 8The banknotes 10 deflect the sensor element 610 from the recess 620 into its first sensor element position, opposite to the deposit direction A1, in which the light beam between the transmitter 614 and the receiver 616 is interrupted by the sensor element 610. In contrast to the second and third operating states, the counter-pressure unit 210 is not in position P0.
[0034] The receiver 616 transmits the first sensor signal to the control unit 500, indicating that the sensor element 610 is in the first sensor element position. The control unit 500 then controls the drive unit 400 to drive the counter-pressure unit 210, moving the counter-pressure unit 210 in the storage direction A1 until the sensor unit 500 transmits the second sensor signal to the control unit, indicating that the sensor element 610 is no longer in the first sensor element position. Figure 9shows the operating state in which the sensor element 610 is no longer in its first sensor element position, so that a feed gap has been formed above the stack of banknotes, into which a new banknote 12 is fed from the cash box 100.
[0035] In an alternative embodiment, an analog detection element for detecting the sensor element position can be provided instead of the light barrier arrangement 612. Alternatively, the sensor unit 600 can also include a digital detection element that detects more than two different positions of the sensor element 610. In alternative embodiments, the sensor element 610 can be slidably arranged in the feed unit and / or be subjected to a spring force that biases the sensor element 610 in the direction of the receiving area 200.
