Description

Technical area

[0001] The invention relates to a processing device for a ski with a support for the ski and a conveyor device for the ski in the longitudinal direction of the ski along the support. State of the art

[0002] Devices are known for machining the steel edges of a ski in which the steel edges of the ski, which is guided longitudinally on a support, are ground by means of two tools which are opposite one another with respect to the ski and which are applied to the ski with a corresponding force and thus automatically follow the longitudinal course of the steel edges when the ski is moved longitudinally relative to the grinding tools.

[0003] Patent EP 1129748 A1 discloses such a device. To increase the effectiveness of the grinding process, the side edges of the steel edges to be ground can be exposed by removing the sidewalls of the ski. AT 413 651 B shows such a device for removing the sidewalls of a ski using a cutting edge arranged on a handle provided with a guide surface. To machine the ski, the handle with the guide surface is placed on the running surface of the ski and moved manually along the longitudinal edge of the ski, whereby the cutting edge removes the sidewall of the ski adjacent to the steel edge in order to make the steel edge more accessible for a subsequent grinding process. A disadvantage, however, is that the machining of the sidewalls must be carried out manually, which means that the machining quality depends on the user's craftsmanship. In addition, separate processing of the sidewalls of a ski by hand before machine edge grinding is time-consuming and is therefore usually omitted, with the result that a higher number of grinding cycles are accepted for processing the steel edges, which in turn shortens the service life of the grinding tools relative to the number of skis that can be processed. Description of the invention

[0004] The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a processing device with the aid of which the sidewalls of a ski can be easily removed to a predetermined quality before edge grinding in a comparatively short time.

[0005] Starting from a processing device of the type described at the outset, the invention achieves the stated object in that a device for processing the sidewalls of the ski with at least one cutting tool is assigned to the support, which cutting tool is arranged on a tool carrier which is adjustable and guided transversely to the conveying direction and parallel to the support and which can be adjusted to the sidewall to be processed of the ski conveyed along the support by means of a spring-loaded actuating drive for the tool carrier under a spring-loaded preload.

[0006] Since the device for machining the sidewalls of a ski is used in conjunction with a machining device that has a support for the ski, along which the ski is conveyed longitudinally, this ski guidance can be used advantageously for the sidewall machining device because the support forms a design reference for the sidewall machining device, which is an essential prerequisite for precise guidance of the cutting tool with respect to the running surface distance. The longitudinal guidance of the cutting tool along the ski sidewall is achieved automatically during longitudinal ski conveyance by the spring-loaded action of the tool carrier transverse to the conveying direction of the ski. This transverse loading of the tool carrier, which can be adjusted parallel to the support and transverse to the conveying direction, requires the cutting tool to be positioned against the sidewall of the ski with a predefined positioning force, with the sidewall or steel edge itself guiding the cutting tool during the ski's advance. Due to the spring-loaded loading of the tool carrier transverse to the sidewall of the ski, the device is also independent of the width and edge contour of the ski being machined, allowing the sidewalls of all possible ski types, including snowboards, to be machined without the need for complex retooling of the machining device.

[0007] Although different measures can be taken to move the tool carrier transversely to the sidewall of the ski to be machined - for example, the tool carrier could be provided for this purpose on an arm pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the ski support - simple, space-saving design conditions arise if the device for machining the sidewalls of the ski has a frame with a guide rail running transversely to the conveying direction and parallel to the support for the tool carrier which can be driven by the spring-loaded actuator.

[0008] In order to be able to machine both sidewalls of a ski simultaneously, the device for machining the sidewalls of the ski can advantageously comprise a frame with two tool holders, each for a cutting tool, located on either side of the support and movable transversely to the conveying direction and parallel to the support, as well as an actuator for spring-loaded loading of the tool holders. The simultaneous machining of both sidewalls of a ski not only has the advantage of shortening the machining time but also simplifies ski guidance between the cutting tools applied to the ski from opposite sides, thus eliminating the need for a ski support on the side of the ski opposite the cutting tool.

[0009] In this case, it is advantageous to provide a common guide rail for the two tool carriers in the frame, running transversely to the conveying direction and parallel to the support.

[0010] To avoid interference with the ski processing following sidewall removal, especially edge grinding, due to the sidewall processing equipment, it is sufficient to free the ski laterally by moving the tool carriers away from the ski. This can be achieved using spring-loaded adjusting drives or additional adjusting drives, which, for example, allow for adjustment to different widths of skis and snowboards.

[0011] If the frame is mounted so that it can pivot about a pivot axis parallel to the conveying direction between a working position and a maintenance position, access to the cutting tools, but also to the equipment of the processing device in the area of the frame can be easily released.

[0012] In order to adjust the spring-loaded positioning of the cutting tools against the ski sidewalls according to specific requirements, the spring-loaded preload of the cutting tool positioning can be adjusted by appropriate measures in the area of the adjusting drives for the respective tool carrier. This is particularly advantageous if a pneumatic cylinder is used as the adjusting drive, although this is by no means mandatory. The selection of the spring-loaded preload of the cutting tool positioning directly influences the chip thickness of the chips to be removed from the ski sidewalls.

[0013] The chips separated from the sidewall contaminate the work area and can hinder the automated machining process. This can be avoided if the device includes at least one nozzle for chip removal. The nozzle sprays flushing fluid toward the sidewall so that the pressure of the flushing fluid moves the chips generated by the cutting process into a designated area, such as a collecting basin. Air or water can be used advantageously as the flushing fluid. Brief description of the invention

[0014] The drawing shows an example of the subject matter of the invention. Fig. 1 shows a processing device according to the invention in a partial plan view and Fig. 2 shows the processing device according to the Fig. 1 in a partially torn front view on a larger scale. Ways to implement the invention

[0015] The illustrated processing device for a ski 1 comprises a support 2 for the ski 1 in the form of a roller table and a conveyor device for the ski 1 in the longitudinal direction of the ski along the support 2. Conventional tools for processing the steel edges or the running surface of the ski 1 are assigned to this ski guide, although this is not shown for reasons of clarity. A new feature of this processing device is an additional device 3 for processing the sidewalls 4 of the ski 1. This device 3 has a frame 5 which comprises a guide rail 7 running transversely to the conveying direction 6 and parallel to the support 2 for two tool carriers 9, each receiving a cutting tool 8. Spring-loaded adjusting drives 10 engage the slide-like tool carriers 9, with the aid of which adjusting drives the cutting tools 8 are positioned under spring preload against the sidewalls 4 of the ski 1 conveyed along the support 2 of the processing device. If the ski 1 is moved longitudinally relative to the device 3, the cutting tools 8 separate a chip from the side walls 4 of the ski 1 and thus expose the side edges of the steel edges of the ski 1 for better grinding.

[0016] As cutting tools 8, indexable inserts 11 are advantageously used, although this is not mandatory since the only important thing is to machine the side walls 4 of the ski 1 adjoining the steel edges, so that all suitable cutting tools, including driven milling cutters, could be used.

[0017] According to the illustrated embodiment, the actuators 10 for resiliently loading the tool carriers 9 are designed as pneumatic cylinders, via which the contact force of the cutting tools 8 against the sidewalls 4 of the ski 1 can be adjusted depending on the respective requirements. To prevent the chips cut off by the cutting tools 8 from hindering the machining process or contaminating the work area, at least one nozzle 12 for a flushing fluid can be provided for each sidewall 4, with the aid of which the chips can be conveyed away from the ski area and removed.

[0018] As already mentioned, the device 3 can be used for sidewall machining of skis of different widths, including snowboards. In order to provide short travel distances for the pneumatic cylinders 11, the frame-fixed pivot points 13 of these pneumatic cylinders 11 can be adjusted in the direction of travel. For this purpose, an actuator 14, for example, an actuating cylinder, is provided for each of these pivot points 13.

[0019] In order to facilitate access to the cutting tools 8 or to functional parts of the processing device arranged in the area of the frame 5, the frame 5 can be pivoted from the illustrated working position about an axis 15 aligned parallel to the conveying direction 6 away from the support 2 into a maintenance position.
