Description

[0001] The invention relates to a method and a manufacturing device for producing an ophthalmic lens.

[0002] An ophthalmic lens is an intraocular lens designed to replace a natural lens in the capsular bag of an eye. Traditionally, the ophthalmic lens is manufactured by turning a blank. Turning allows the ophthalmic lens to be produced in various shapes, such as spherical, aspherical, and toric, and with various refractive powers. However, only one ophthalmic lens can be manufactured at a time using a lathe. This makes turning time-consuming. Alternatively, the ophthalmic lens can be manufactured by casting. However, this method has the disadvantage that a separate mold must be provided for each shape and refractive power of the ophthalmic lens.

[0003] DE 698 33 226 T2 discloses a method for producing an optical lens with a surface microstructure. DE 10 2012 020 363 A1 discloses a method for producing a lens, in particular a spectacle lens, with a microstructure on at least one curved lens surface.

[0004] US 2005 / 264756 A1 discloses a device according to the preamble of claims 7, 8 and 9.

[0005] The object of the invention is therefore to provide an alternative method and an alternative manufacturing device for producing an ophthalmic lens.

[0006] The method according to the invention for producing an ophthalmic lens comprises the steps of: a) providing a first tool half, which has a support body having an interior space and a first end into which an opening is made that communicates with the interior space, and a film that is arranged directly or by means of at least one intermediate element at the first end and covers the opening, and a second tool half; b) bringing the first tool half and the second tool half into a spaced-apart state in which the first tool half and the second tool half are spaced from one another; c) changing the curvature of the film; d) applying a curable liquid to the film;e) bringing the first tool half and the second tool half into a state of proximity in which the first tool half and the second tool half are brought together, so that the liquid is bounded by both the first tool half and the second tool half; f) curing the liquid, thereby producing the lens;

[0007] The manufacturing device according to the invention for producing an ophthalmic lens comprises a first tool half, which comprises a support body having an interior space and a first end into which an opening is made that communicates with the interior space, and a film that is arranged directly or by means of at least one intermediate element at the first end and covers the opening, a second tool half, and a curvature device that is configured to change the curvature of the film, wherein the first tool half and the second tool half are configured to be brought into a spacing state in which the first tool half and the second tool half are arranged at a distance from one another, and into an approach state in which the first tool half and the second tool half are brought together and in which the first tool half and the second tool half delimit a cavity, which has the shape of the lens and into which a hardenable liquid can be introduced, which, after hardening, forms the lens.

[0008] By choosing how much the film is curved, it is now easy to adjust the refractive power of the lens.

[0009] As a result, it is not necessary to provide different first tool halves for different refractive powers of the lens. The method according to the invention provides an alternative to the conventional turning method and the conventional casting method, which uses a rigid casting mold. Analogously, the manufacturing device according to the invention provides an alternative to the conventional lathe and the conventional casting device, which uses a rigid casting mold. With the method according to the invention and the manufacturing device according to the invention, it is possible to produce the lens with a spherical shape, an aspherical shape, or a toric shape, wherein the surface can be smooth or provided with diffractive structures.

[0010] According to the invention, the film is dielectric, and in step c) the curvature is changed by applying an electric field to the film. The strength of the electric field allows the refractive power of the lens to be adjusted particularly easily.

[0011] The first tool half preferably has a plurality of circular sector-shaped electrodes applied to the film and a counterpole provided midway between the circular sector-shaped electrodes. In step c), the electric field is generated by applying a voltage difference between each of the circular sector-shaped electrodes and the counterpole. It is particularly preferred that the circular sector-shaped electrodes comprise a first group of electrodes and a second group of electrodes. In step c), a first voltage is applied to the first group and a second voltage is applied to the second group, which is different from the first voltage. This allows the lens to be produced with a toric shape.

[0012] Alternatively, it is according to the invention that the film is paramagnetic, diamagnetic and / or ferromagnetic and in step c) the curvature is changed by subjecting the film to a magnetic field. The refractive power of the lens can be adjusted particularly easily by means of the strength of the magnetic field. It is particularly preferred that in step c) the film is subjected to a magnetic field that varies in the radial direction with respect to the optical axis of the lens and / or in the circumferential direction with respect to the optical axis of the lens. By means of the magnetic field that varies in the radial direction and by means of paramagnetic, diamagnetic and / or ferromagnetic particles evenly distributed in the film, it is possible, for example, to produce the lens with a spherical shape.By means of the magnetic field varying in the circumferential direction and paramagnetic, diamagnetic and / or ferromagnetic particles evenly distributed in the film, it is possible, for example, to produce the lens with a toric shape.

[0013] Alternatively, according to the invention, the film comprises a bimetal or a polymer composite, and in step c) the curvature is changed by increasing or decreasing the temperature of the film. The refractive power of the lens can be easily adjusted by selecting the temperature in step c). It is particularly preferred that the film comprises a further bimetal or a further polymer composite, the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients of which is different from the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients of the bimetal or the polymer composite, the bimetal or the polymer composite has a first preferred direction, and the further bimetal or the further polymer composite has a second preferred direction, wherein the first preferred direction is arranged parallel to a cylinder axis of the lens and the second preferred direction is arranged perpendicular to the cylinder axis, so that the lens is produced with a toric shape. The bimetal and the further bimetal or the polymer composite and the further polymer composite have a shape deviating from a square shape in a plane whose normal is arranged perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens, wherein the first preferred direction is the longest extension of the bimetal or the polymer composite arranged in the plane and the second preferred direction is the longest extension of the further bimetal or the polymer composite arranged in the plane.

[0014] According to an embodiment not belonging to the invention, the film seals the interior gas-tight from the side of the film facing away from the interior, and in step c), the curvature is changed by setting the pressure in the interior to be different from the pressure on the side of the film facing away from the interior. The refractive power of the lens can be adjusted particularly easily by varying the magnitude of the pressure difference. It is particularly preferred that the thickness of the film varies in the radial direction relative to the optical axis of the lens and / or in the circumferential direction relative to the optical axis of the lens.

[0015] The method preferably comprises, after step f), the step g) changing the curvature of the film. This makes it easier to remove the lens from the first mold half. The curvature of the film can be increased or decreased in step g).

[0016] Preferably, the curvature of the film in step d) is chosen to be greater than in step f). This allows any air inclusions between the first and second mold halves to be removed before the liquid hardens.

[0017] It is preferred that in step f), the liquid provided with a thermal initiator is heated to cure the liquid. Alternatively, it is preferred that in step f), the liquid provided with a photochemical initiator is exposed to electromagnetic radiation to cure the liquid. Alternatively, it is preferred that in step f), the liquid provided with a catalyst is retained in the mold until a degree of polymerization desired for curing is reached.

[0018] The second mold half preferably comprises a further support body having an interior space and a first end into which an opening is formed that communicates with the interior space. It also comprises a further film arranged directly or by means of at least one intermediate element at the first end and covering the opening. In step c), the further film is also curved. This allows the curvature of two surfaces of the lens to be variably adjusted.

[0019] According to the invention, the film is dielectric, and the curving device is configured according to the invention to apply an electric field to the film. It is particularly preferred that the first tool half has a plurality of circular sector-shaped electrodes applied to the film and a counterpole provided midway between the circular sector-shaped electrodes, wherein the curving device is configured to apply a voltage difference between each of the circular sector-shaped electrodes and the counterpole. The circular sector-shaped electrodes very particularly preferably have a first group of electrodes and a second group of electrodes, wherein the curving device is configured to apply a first voltage to the first group and a second voltage to the second group, which is different from the first voltage.

[0020] Alternatively, according to the invention, the film is paramagnetic, diamagnetic, and / or ferromagnetic, and the curving device is configured to apply a magnetic field to the film. The curving device is particularly preferably configured, in step c), to apply a magnetic field to the film that varies in the radial direction relative to the optical axis of the lens and / or in the circumferential direction relative to the optical axis of the lens. The film can comprise paramagnetic, diamagnetic, and / or ferromagnetic particles evenly distributed throughout the film. Alternatively, the film can comprise metal strips.

[0021] Alternatively, according to the invention, the film comprises a bimetal or a polymer composite, and the curving device is configured to increase and / or decrease the temperature of the film. It is particularly preferred that the film comprises a further bimetal or a further polymer composite, the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients of which is different from the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients of the further bimetal or the further polymer composite, the bimetal or the polymer composite has a first preferred direction and the further bimetal or the further polymer composite has a second preferred direction, wherein the first preferred direction is arranged parallel to a cylinder axis of the lens and the second preferred direction is arranged perpendicular to the cylinder axis, so that the lens is produced with a toric shape. The bimetal and the further bimetal or the polymer composite or the further polymer composite have a shape deviating from a square shape in a plane whose normal is arranged perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens, wherein the first preferred direction is the longest extension of the bimetal or the polymer composite arranged in the plane and the second preferred direction is the longest extension of the further bimetal or the further polymer composite arranged in the plane.

[0022] According to an embodiment not belonging to the invention, the film seals the interior space in a gas-tight manner from the side of the film facing away from the interior space, and the curvature device is configured to adjust the pressure in the interior space to be different from the pressure on the side of the film facing away from the interior space. It is particularly preferred that the thickness of the film varies in the radial direction relative to the optical axis of the lens and / or in the circumferential direction relative to the optical axis of the lens.

[0023] The second tool half preferably comprises a further support body having an interior space and a first end into which an opening is made that communicates with the interior space, and a further film that is arranged directly or by means of at least one intermediate element at the first end and covers the opening, wherein the curving device is also configured to curve the further film.

[0024] It is preferred for the method and the manufacturing device that the film has a structured surface, so that the lens can be produced with a diffractive structure. The diffractive structure makes it possible for the lens to have a plurality of different focal points, and in particular, to have three different focal points.

[0025] The film can, for example, comprise or consist essentially of polyvinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene. This gives the film a high dielectric coefficient and also allows the lens to be easily removed from the film. The film can be manufactured, for example, by creating a suspension of polyvinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene powder (for example, commercially available from Solvay Specialty Polymers Italy SpA) in a solvent such as cyclopentanone, and printing this suspension using an inkjet printer. The suspension can then be heat-treated.

[0026] The film can, for example, have a thickness of 50 µm to 200 µm.

[0027] The lens may, for example, comprise polyacrylate, polymethacrylate, polyacrylamide and / or silicone or consist essentially of polyacrylate, polymethacrylate, polyacrylamide and / or silicone.

[0028] It is preferred that the film of the manufacturing device allows for a change in curvature during the curing process of the liquid. Potential volume shrinkage during the transition from the liquid phase to the solid phase in the form of a lens can thus be actively counteracted, resulting in a lens with a high surface quality.

[0029] The first mold half and the second mold half can be configured to produce a plurality of lenses simultaneously. This allows the lenses to be manufactured advantageously and cost-effectively.

[0030] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the attached schematic drawings.

[0031] Figures 1 to 3 show a section through a first embodiment of a manufacturing device according to the invention at three different times.

[0032] Figures 4 and 5show a plan view of a part of the manufacturing device according to Figures 1 to 3 , where Figure 4 a first assignment of the electrodes and Figure 5 shows a second assignment of the electrodes.

[0033] Figures 6 and 7 show a section through a second embodiment and a third embodiment of the manufacturing device, wherein Figure 6 shows the manufacturing device at a first time and Figure 7 shows the manufacturing device at a second point in time.

[0034] Figures 8 and 9 show a section through a fourth embodiment, where Figure 8 shows the manufacturing device at a first time and Figure 9 shows the manufacturing device at a second point in time.

[0035] How it turns out Figures 1 to 3 and 6 to 9As can be seen, in a method for producing an ophthalmic lens 6, in a step a) for the production device 1, a first tool half 11 is provided, which comprises a support body 5 having an interior space 13 and a first end 14, into which an opening 16 is made which communicates with the interior space 13, and a film 2 which is directly attached to the first end 14 (cf. Figures 6 to 9 ) or by means of at least one intermediate element at the first end 14 (see Figures 1 to 3 ) and covers the opening 16, and a second tool half 12 is provided. Figures 1 , 6 and 8 show that at the first time in a step b), the first tool half 11 and the second tool half 12 are brought into a spacing state in which the first tool half 11 and the second tool half 12 are arranged at a distance from each other. At a second time, compare Figures 2 , 7 and9 , in a step c) the curvature of the film 2 is changed. Subsequently, in a step d) a hardenable liquid is applied to the film 2. After that, in a step e) the first tool half 11 and the second tool half 12 are brought into an approximate state (see Figure 3 ), in which the first tool half 11 and the second tool half 12 are brought together, so that the liquid is bounded by both the first tool half 11 and the second tool half 12. In a step f), the liquid is cured, thereby producing the lens 6.

[0036] In step c), the film 2 can, for example, be formed from a flat shape (compare Figures 1 , 6 and 8 ), which corresponds to a curvature of zero, to a curved shape (compare Figures 2, 3 , 7 and 8 ) can be changed.

[0037] For example, the film 2 can be arranged completely outside the interior space 13 before step c) and be curved into the interior space 13 in step c).

[0038] Figure 3shows that the second tool half 12 can have a depression in which the liquid is arranged after step e). This allows the lens 6 to be formed biconvex. Alternatively, it is conceivable for the side of the second tool half 12 facing the liquid to be flat. This allows the lens 6 to be formed plano-convex. Alternatively, the second tool half 12 can have a further support body which has an interior space and a first end into which an opening is made which communicates with the interior space, and a further film which is arranged directly or by means of at least one intermediate element at the first end and covers the opening, wherein the further film is also curved in step c). This allows the curvature of two surfaces of the lens to be variably adjusted.

[0039] According to the first embodiment according to Figures 1 to 5the foil 2 is dielectric, and in step c) the curvature is changed by applying an electric field to the foil. For this purpose, the first tool half 11 can have a plurality of circular sector-shaped electrodes 3a to 3h, which are applied to the foil 2, and a counterpole 9, which is provided in the middle between the circular sector-shaped electrodes 3a to 3h, wherein in step c) the electric field is generated by applying a voltage difference between each of the circular sector-shaped electrodes 3a to 3h and the counterpole 9. As can be seen from Figures 1 to 3As can be seen, the electrodes 3a to 3h can be arranged on the side of the film 2 facing the support body 5. The first tool half 11 can have an intermediate layer 4 which is electrically insulating and is arranged between the support body 5 and the electrodes 3a to 3h, so that no current can flow from the electrodes 3a to 3h to the support body 5. The intermediate layer 4 can be formed in one piece or with several sections 4a, 4b. In this case, one of the sections 4a, 4b can be provided for each of the electrodes 3a to 3h. The intermediate elements are the intermediate layer 4 and / or the electrodes 3a to 3h.

[0040] Figures 4 and 5show that the electrodes 3a to 3h can be arranged completely spaced from one another. The electrodes 3a to 3h can be arranged point-symmetrically to one another, with the center point 31 of each of the circular sector-shaped electrodes 3a to 3h being arranged on the inside and the circular arc 32 of each of the circular sector-shaped electrodes 3a to 3h being arranged on the outside. The counterpole 9 can have a counterelectrode 7, which is arranged in a region surrounded by the electrodes 3a to 3h, in particular surrounded in a star shape. In addition, the counterpole 9 can have an electrical conductor 8, which is electrically conductively connected to the counterelectrode 7 and extends into the interior space 13.

[0041] The film 2 can, for example, comprise or consist essentially of polyvinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene. The film 2 can, for example, be produced by preparing a suspension with polyvinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene powder (for example, commercially available from Solvay Specialty Polymers Italy SpA) in a solvent, such as cyclopentanone, and printing this suspension using an inkjet printer. The suspension can then be heat-treated. Analogously, the electrodes 3a to 3h and the counter electrode 7 can be produced by printing a suspension of metallic particles in a solvent using an inkjet printer. The solvent can be removed by heat treatment.

[0042] In Figure 4It is shown that all electrodes 3a to 3h can be supplied with a voltage V 1 , whereby the counter electrode 7 is supplied with the voltage -V 1 . This allows the lens 6 to be manufactured axially symmetrical about its optical axis 17. The lens 6 can, for example, be manufactured spherically. If the thickness of the film 2 in the radial direction 18 (see Figure 2 ) varies with respect to the optical axis 17, the lens 6 can be made aspherical.

[0043] An alternative to this is Figure 5shown, according to which the circular sector-shaped electrodes 3a to 3h can have a first group 3a to 3d of electrodes and a second group 3e to 3g of electrodes, wherein in step c) the first group 3a to 3d is subjected to a first voltage V 1 and the second group 3e to 3h is subjected to a second voltage V 2 which is different from the first voltage V 1. For both groups 3a to 3d and 3e to 3h, the opposite pole is the opposite pole 9, so that the opposite pole 9 is subjected to both the voltage -V 1 and the voltage -V 2. This makes it possible to produce the lens 6 with a toric shape. For example, the first group 3a to 3d can be arranged axially symmetrically with respect to an axis arranged parallel to a cylinder axis of the lens 6. The second group 3e to 3h can be formed by the remaining electrodes.

[0044] According to the second embodiment shown in Figures 6 and 7As shown, the film 2 may be paramagnetic, diamagnetic and / or ferromagnetic, for example by comprising metal strips and / or paramagnetic, diamagnetic and / or ferromagnetic particles, and in step c) the curvature may be changed by exposing the film 2 to a magnetic field (not in Figures 6 and 7 In step c), the film 2 can be subjected to a magnetic field varying in the radial direction 18 with respect to the optical axis 17 of the lens 6 and / or in the circumferential direction 19 with respect to the optical axis 17 of the lens 6, wherein the radial direction 18 and the circumferential direction 19 are Figure 2 are shown.

[0045] According to the third embodiment, which is not part of the invention and in Figures 6 and 7As shown, the film 2 can seal the interior space 13 in a gas-tight manner from the side of the film 2 facing away from the interior space 13, and in step c) the curvature can be changed by setting the pressure in the interior space 13 to be different from the pressure on the side of the film 2 facing away from the interior space 13. For this purpose, a second end 15 of the support body 5, which is arranged facing away from the first end 14, can be open, and gas can be sucked out of the interior space 13 via the second end 15. Alternatively, it is conceivable that the opening 16 is the only opening communicating with the interior space 13, and that the side of the film 2 facing away from the interior space 13 is subjected to pressure.

[0046] The thickness of the film 2 can vary in the radial direction 18 with respect to the optical axis 17 of the lens 6 and / or in the circumferential direction 19 with respect to the optical axis 17 of the lens 6, wherein the radial direction 18 and the circumferential direction 19 in Figure 2are shown.

[0047] At the Figures 8 and 9 In the fourth embodiment shown, the film 2 has a bimetal and in step c) the curvature is changed by increasing or decreasing the temperature of the film 2. Figures 8 and 9 show that the bimetal comprises a first metal 21 and a second metal 22. The first metal 21 and the second metal 22 can be attached to each other along a circular or elliptical line 23. In the case that the first metal 21 has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the second metal 22, it is necessary to heat the bimetal in order to bend it from the curvature in Figure 8 the curvature in Figure 9 In the case that the first metal 21 has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than the second metal 22, it is necessary to cool the bimetal in order to bend it in Figure 8 the curvature in Figure 9 to reach.
