Description
Technical area
[0001] The invention relates to a wheel arrangement for a motor vehicle. State of the art
[0002] Friction brakes are commonly used in motor vehicles to reduce speed. Friction brakes generally have one or more brake pads and at least one friction partner, e.g., a brake disc or a brake drum, against which at least one brake pad rubs. In a drum brake, the brake drum may be made essentially of cast iron, while steel wool is used as a main component for the brake pads. During braking, ferrous and thus magnetic brake dust is generated. If this brake dust is not collected, particles of the brake dust are emitted into the environment, increasing particulate matter pollution. In addition, this abrasion, also known as brake dust, which can have particle sizes of approximately 10 nm - 10 µm, contaminates the wheel rims to which the brakes are mounted. Furthermore, the brake dust can also lead to contamination of the interior of the drum brake. From DE 10 2018 220 864 A1 a drum brake of a motor vehicle is known in which at least one magnet for collecting brake dust is arranged in an air gap between the brake drum and the armature plate.
[0003] US 2 988 173 A and JP 2012 197925 A are also known from the prior art. Brief description of the invention
[0004] Against this background, the object of the invention is to provide an arrangement that is more cost-effective and easier to maintain.
[0005] Accordingly, a wheel arrangement according to independent claim 1 is proposed. Further embodiments are the subject of the respective dependent claims.
[0006] According to a first aspect of the invention, this object is achieved by a wheel assembly for a motor vehicle, comprising a wheel rim and a drum brake. The drum brake is mounted on an inner side of the wheel rim. A magnetic strip is circumferentially mounted on a surface portion of an inner circumferential surface of the wheel rim such that the magnetic strip coaxially surrounds a housing of the drum brake, at least in sections, in the axial direction.
[0007] One idea behind this invention is to collect magnetic particles in the brake dust of a drum brake using a magnetic collection device inside a wheel rim. The most harmful particles, which can cause damage to the lungs and the human body, are usually metallic. During service, the magnetic strips in the wheel rims can be easily cleaned, for example, using a high-pressure cleaner, and then reused.
[0008] According to a further development, the surface section can be substantially cylindrical in the axial direction.
[0009] The collection device can be easily adapted to existing wheel rim layouts with drum brakes by mounting the magnetic collection device on a cylindrical inner rim section. No modifications to the wheel rims or brakes are necessary.
[0010] According to a further development, the housing of the drum brake can be formed from a brake drum and an armature plate, wherein an air gap is formed between the armature plate and the brake drum.
[0011] The air gap allows the brake particles created by abrasion to be removed from the interior of the drum brake housing.
[0012] According to a further development, the air gap can be aligned on an outer side in the circumferential direction of the housing in such a way that braking particles are directed from an interior of the housing onto the magnetic tape.
[0013] This allows the brake particles from the air gap to strike the magnetic tape due to the centrifugal force of the rotating brake drum. For this purpose, the magnetic tape is preferably bonded radially exactly above the air gap between the brake drum and the armature plate.
[0014] According to a further development, the magnetic tape can be glued to the inner circumferential surface of the wheel rim.
[0015] In a vehicle factory, the adhesive balancing weights are mounted on the rim fully automatically. A bonded magnetic tape can be positioned and attached to the rim in the same way, allowing essentially the same tools to be used for installation.
[0016] According to a further development, the magnetic tape can contain neodymium.
[0017] A neodymium magnetic strip bonded to the rim binds the iron-containing brake particles and thus prevents them from entering the environment.
[0018] According to a further development, the magnetic tape can consist of individual magnetic sections attached adjacent to one another.
[0019] A multi-part magnetic tape can be easy to handle, especially for repair purposes.
[0020] A pair of brake pads can be arranged in the drum brake housing.
[0021] According to further research, steel wool can be an essential component of brake pads.
[0022] The proposed technical solution is suitable for both aluminum and steel rims. Sufficiently large magnetic collecting surfaces allow for long service intervals. The rims become less dirty and therefore require less frequent cleaning. Short description of the drawing figures
[0023] Further features and details emerge from the following description, in which at least one embodiment is described in detail—possibly with reference to the drawing. Described and / or illustrated features constitute the subject matter, either individually or in any meaningful combination, possibly independently of the claims, and may, in particular, also be the subject of one or more separate applications. Identical, similar, and / or functionally identical parts are provided with the same reference numerals. Here, the following are shown: Figure 1 shows a wheel arrangement according to the invention. Description of the execution types
[0024] In the Figure 1 A wheel assembly 1 for a motor vehicle is shown, comprising a wheel rim 10 in the form of an aluminum or steel rim. Inside the wheel rim 10, a drum brake 20 is located against a wheel support of the wheel rim 10. The drum brake 20 is centered on the wheel rim 10 via a hub bore and bolted to the wheel rim via a number of wheel nuts, which are not shown in the figure.
[0025] The drum brake 20 comprises a brake drum 21 and an armature plate 22, which together form a two-part housing 23. Inside the housing 23 is a pair of brake pads 25, which can be pressed against an inner friction surface of the brake drum 21 by means of an actuator not shown in the figure. Friction between the brake pad 25 and the friction surface creates brake particles 50 inside the housing 23 during a braking operation.
[0026] Between the brake drum 21 and the armature plate 22 is an air gap 24, which creates a labyrinth-like connection between the interior of the housing 23 and the outside environment. The drum brake 20 can be ventilated or vented via the air gap 24. Furthermore, a particle stream 51 containing the brake particles 50 can escape into the environment via the air gap 24.
[0027] The air gap 24 opens into a slot-like opening which runs circumferentially in a substantially cylindrical outer circumferential side of the drum brake 20.
[0028] A magnetic strip 40 is mounted circumferentially on a surface section 12 on an inner circumferential surface of the wheel rim 10. The surface section 12 has a cylindrical surface centered to the rotational axis of the wheel rim 10.
[0029] As can be seen in the figure, the magnetic strip 40 is arranged and glued above the air gap 24 between the brake drum 21 and the armature plate 22. Thus, the particle stream 51 can strike the magnetic strip in the radial direction r due to the centrifugal force of the rotating brake drum 21. The magnetic strip 40 can be aligned in the axial direction x, centered relative to the air gap 24 of the drum brake 20.
[0030] Braking particles 50 are directed via the particle stream 51 from the interior of the housing 23 onto the magnetic strip 40, on which they adhere as particle adhesion 52.
[0031] The particle adhesion 52 on the magnetic strip 40 can be cleaned using a high-pressure cleaner, for example, when changing wheels.

It is therefore clear that a multitude of possible variations exist. It is also clear that the exemplary embodiments mentioned are merely examples and should not be construed as limiting the scope, possible applications, or configuration of the invention in any way.Rather, the preceding description and the description of the figures enable the person skilled in the art to implement the exemplary embodiments in concrete terms, whereby the person skilled in the art, with knowledge of the disclosed inventive concept, can make various changes, for example with regard to the function or the arrangement of individual elements mentioned in an exemplary embodiment, without departing from the scope of protection defined by the claims and their legal equivalents, such as further explanations in the description.
